Sarah Palin - Palin is Ready to Lead and Meet Her Critics - I Do Not Believe that They Will Care to Meet The Governor on a Level Playing Field

The front page of the Chicago Tribune features a nude painting done by a 69 year old artist - who employed his daughter as a model for Governor Palin. The Chicago Tribune editorial geeks are solidly behind Senator Obama. Along with the cork-screwing Sun Times, the Tribune engages in a daily beatdown of McCain or Palin. No big deal really as no one in Chicago seems to pay much attention to the Chicago editorial dweebs and pencil-necks who tend to live in lily-white suburbs while celebrating diversity.

With all the news that the Chicago Tribune is not covering - Tony Rezko, Willliam Ayers and their long and close associations with Senator Obama; another murdered Chicago Police Officer; multiple killings and shootings on the south and west sides; a moronic Governor bankrupting the State; Public Schools looting the budget and world wide terrorism; the editorial snobs decided to be edgy.

The painting is in no way offensive - its is badly done art, by what appears. It might be to Gov. Palin's father or her husband, but then again the 'artist' would cower behind freedom of speech and artistic expression to avoid a sound beating by either or both gentleman.

What is offensive is the 'nuanced' editorial gigglers. Nuanced means bullshit these days - Obama is 'nuanced.' Obama is using 'Middle Class' more than TV sit coms use 'Dude!' - when in fact, Obama committed to Trinity United Church of Christ which demanded that members 'disavow' the American Middle Class. That's Nuanced. The editorial Board at the Chicago Tribune is Nuanced.

The Chicago Tribune long ago shred its dignity along with editorial intelligence. No matter, people will stop buying the paper product and more hard working and effective people with the Tribune will be laid off - and the talentless and smugly mediocrities will soldier on.

The painting is of no consequence and even of less consequence is the Chicago Tribune.

A Chicago Police Officer was murdered by a drug-dealing thug - every day occurrence; the greatest financial catastrophe in decades brought on by Progressive nitwits and scam mortgage pirates; a simpleton Governor is bankrupting Illinois - but Chicago Tribune needs to mock the Governor of a solvent State running for Vice President.

Eric Zorn says that expectations for Gov. Palin are on the floor.

It is always great to hear someone display contempt and low-regard before a contest. Generally, it comes from someone who has never been in a fight, much less won one.

People who have actually acted in the interests of other people or been placed in a situation that requires dignity and courage from them never sneer at any combatant.

Most people, and Sarah Palin is like most people not Tina Fey, or Bill Maher or Sean Hannity, face life and the occasional opponent as if they were playing Notre Dame every day.

Then there are the nuanced - those who avoid the fights, the struggles, the commitments - and sneer.

On Thursday night Governor Palin will face a great Democratic foe in Senator Biden. She had best pack a big Lunch. She will do fine.

Then, Governor Palin and turn to chat with Salon, MSNBC, CNN, and the dweebs at Chicago Tribune. Pack a big energy bar cupcakes.

McCain/Palin: Chicago Sun Times Steve Huntley Praises McCain Presidential Leadership in Crisis

Steve Huntley, Chicago Sun Times columnist, bangs out a great evaluation of John McCain's Leadership during the Fannie Mae/Mac meltdown and DNC clown opera. While Obama does what he has done all of his career - wait, test the waters, get what he can and when pushed Vote Present - John McCain leads from the front. MSNBC is tripping over its agenda to clear the brush and right Obama's path - which he couldn't find without the Scout Masters holding his hand. John McCain knows the jungle and is out in front with a machete. By Columbus Day Obama will bedown in the polls by double digits.

Read Steve Huntley!

The bottom line: McCain was right last week when he said the rescue plan was on course for failure. Had Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi paid more attention to McCain's warning, heeded his call for a greater bipartisan spirit and acted on that advice instead of accusing him of political grandstanding, the headlines in today's paper might have been different. At the last minute it was Pelosi, not McCain, who waved the partisan red flag in a speech prior to Monday's vote. That likely doomed the Paulson plan by alienating the GOP ballots Pelosi needed to pass the bill since she didn't have enough Democratic votes lined up.

McCain's astute sizing up of the situation in Washington was just the latest example of a politician not known for expertise in economic matters proven to be right at key times on fiscal issues.

Just a week ago he came in for withering criticism from the Wall Street Journal and country club Republicans for suggesting that Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Christopher Cox should be fired because of the Wall Street meltdown. Now we learn from the SEC's inspector general that in 2006 the SEC staff "identified precisely the types of risks that evolved into the subprime crisis" but the agency failed to rein in the aggressive subprime investment practices of Bear Sterns, the first casualty in the meltdown. McCain, it turns out, was right to tag the SEC for failure to do its job.

McCain also proved prescient two years ago when he co-sponsored a bill to tighten regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. They are the quasi-government mortgage underwriters at the epicenter of the financial crisis. Obama was silent on the issue.

Despite the stereotype presented about McCain, over the years he has demonstrated wisdom on economic issues.

This Just In! Air-Brushed Mo Dowd Banned from Straight-Talk Express!

Air-Brushed Mo, who looks like Dorian Gray's portrait in the 'For Real?' is reportedly banned from Plane McCain!
This from Ari at Firdoglake

Howard Kurtz drops this tidbit into his column:

The company may have been more pleasant than that of McCain aides, who have barred Dowd from the candidate's plane.

If the Obama campaign banned a FoxNews Reporter from the plane, I'm sure it would be the greatest crime against the first amendment ever committed. MoDo banned -- one sentence, no explanation.

Lacunae! as Mo would say!

McCain/Palin: Obama's Dreams of Class Warfare - He Fired the Opening Shot at the Debate

CNN - Obama second-string cheerleaders helped his Campaign Spin the Debate on Friday and craft an Obama Shot Heard Round the Nuanced Crowd!

Speaking about Friday's presidential debate, Obama accused McCain of not addressing working families.

"We talked about the economy for 40 minutes, and not once did Sen. McCain talk about the struggles that middle class families are facing every day," Obama said at a campaign event in Detroit, Michigan.

The economy took the lead in Friday night's presidential debate, as both candidates highlighted their plans to bring the United States out of what some are describing as the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.

McCain on Sunday brushed off Obama's latest line of attack, saying he has "bigger things to worry about."

"Who does he think I was talking about when I said 'people on Main Street'? Who did he think I was talking about, about the necessity of helping the American taxpayers and income -- and Americans who are out there working and trying to keep their jobs?" he said on ABC's "This Week."

Yep, Obama is all about the Middle Class, Mainstreet, Non-Arugula buying 'bitter and clinging Bible Toting and gun packing Middle Class Bubbas! Rubes with Union Cards- real ones

These are Obama's Words from Dreams of My Father ( clique my Post Title for more on Obama Class Warrior):

Our rage at the white world needed no object, he seemed to be telling me, no independent confirmation; it could be switched on and off at our pleasure.” (page 81);
j) “Following this maddening logic, the only thing you could choose as your own was withdrawal into a smaller and smaller coil of rage, until being black meant only the knowledge of your own powerlessness, of your own defeat. And the final irony: Should you refuse this defeat and lash out at your captors, they would have a name for that, too, a name that could cage you just as good. Paranoid. Militant. Violent. Nigger.” (page 85);
k) “Frank opened his eyes: ‘What I’m trying to tell you is, your grandma’s right to be scared. She’s at least as right as Stanley is. She understands that black people have a reason to hate. That’s just how it is. For your sake, I wish it were otherwise. But it’s not. So you might as well get used to it.’ ” (page 90);
l) “Understand something, boy. You’re not going to college to get educated. You’re going there to get trained. They’ll train you to want what you don’t need. They’ll train you to manipulate words so they don’t mean anything anymore.” (page 97);
m) “I had stumbled upon one of the well-kept secrets about black people: that most of us weren’t interested in revolt; that most of us were tired of thinking about race all the time; that if we preferred to keep to ourselves it was mainly because that was the easiest way to stop thinking about it, easier than spending all your time mad or trying to guess whatever it was that white folks were thinking about you.” (page 98);
n) “To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets.” (page 100);
o) “There was one particular passage in Trinity’s (Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ pastured by Reverend Wright) brochure that stood out…”A Disavowal of the Pursuit of Middleclassness,’ the heading read. ‘While it is permissible to chase “middleclassness” with all our might,’ the text stated, those blessed with the talent or good fortune (no mention of “hard work”) to achieve success in the American mainstream must avoid the ‘psychological entrapment of Black “middleclassness” that hypnotizes the successful brother or sister into believing they are better than the rest and teaches them to think in terms of “we” and “they” instead of “US”!’” (page 284);
p) “I took the opportunity to study these tourists as Auma and I sat down for lunch in the outdoor café of the New Stanley Hotel. They were everywhere – Germans, Japanese, British, Americans – taking pictures, hailing taxis, fending off street peddlers, many of them dressed in safari suites like extras on a movie set. In Hawaii, when we were still kids, my friends and I had laughed at tourists like these, with their sunburns and their pale, skinny legs, basking in the glow of our obvious superiority.” (page 312)

He ought to get look at my pasty, Mick gams! That would get him off of Arugula!

What a phoney! That is why Obama plays so well with Olbermann, Matthews, Brown, Maddow, Blitzer, and the whole gang of Middle Class hating elites.

McCain/ Palin: Obama Clings to 'The Disavowal of the Middleclass' While Talking Up Middle Class - Both Sides of His Mouth Work Fine!

"Any black person who identifies himself as middle-class psychologically withdraws from the group and becomes a proponent of strengthening and sustaining the system,"
TRINITY UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

Obama embraced the 12 tenets of Trinity United Church of Christ, but his long and warm association with Re. Jeremiah Wright, a Black Liberation Theologian, became too dicey for his Presidential ambitions.

Obama, for twenty years, embraced the disavowal of the middleclass. He now chirps like a tit-willow in love with the American Middle Class.

Obama will do anything to President and those backing his campaign know that:

He embraced:

William Ayers, a domestic terrorist

Tony Rezko, a convicted real estate swindler and slumlord

Rev. Jeremiah Wright, preached loudly, strongly and continually for the disavowal of the American Middle Class

American Middle Class?

Wait for the bus to roll over you!

Sarah Palin - Change is Coming! Joe Biden will Limp Off Stage!

Tell the morons - Those Heights just past the water? That's Russia as seen from Alaska.

Sarah Palin has had to endure the contemptuous idiocies of likes Of Couric, Olbermann, Maddow, Maher, Matthews, Letterman, Fey and their Progressive print stooges and commenting lemmings in the blogosphere.

Wednesday night, the leash comes off the 'pitbull with lipstick.' Thursday Night - Hold the Phone, Joe!

Joe Biden, who massages his toncils with his Florsheims on a daily basis, will meet Sarah Palin for the first time and limp off the stage.

There will be no 'gottcha moments' orchestrated by sneaks like Couric who play on the good manners of Americans in order to serve up a victim. Couric and CBS have been a National Joke since the days of Gunga Dan Rather.

Sarah Palin was vetted by the McCain Campaign and the Media hate the fact that a genuine person in now poised to be a 'heart-beat away' from another genuine person.

Townhall's Bill Dwyer makes a nice bit of perspective.

I'm not saying that these photos and maps, by themselves, are any proof that Sarah Palin is ready to be a heartbeat from the presidency. I am saying that these photos and maps, by themselves, are indeed proof that she and others were telling the literal truth when they described Russia as sharing a border with, and being visible from, Alaska.

As for Gov. Palin's foreign affairs and national defense qualifications, however:

No job fully prepares anyone for the foreign policy and national defense responsibilities that attend the office of POTUS because no job shares more than a fraction of those responsibilities — including jobs like "Secretary of State" or "Secretary of Defense" or "U.S. Senator."

No new occupant of the office of POTUS has to undertake those responsibilities alone. Each is surrounded by advisers, including career professionals from the State and Defense Departments. In particular, any vice presidents who is suddenly elevated to the presidency is surrounded by advisers originally selected by their immediate predecessor, which would mean in the case of a hypothetical ascension by Sarah Palin to the presidency, advisers chosen by John McCain. As a former naval aviator and, then, commander of the Navy's largest air wing, and as a long-time senator with oversight responsibilities, active participation on the Senate Foreign Affairs committee, and — extraordinarily even for Senators — direct involvement in international negotiations (as when he led the United States' efforts to negotiate the resumption of diplomatic relations with the same regime that once tortured him as a POW) — John McCain's own foreign affairs and national defense credentials are among the most impressive held by anyone ever to run for president. He will put a sound system into place that would benefit a sudden successor, and he would also be a superb tutor of a co-executive in his administration whose own credentials on foreign affairs and national security are less deep than his own.

Although border state governors have more interaction with foreign affairs and border security matters than other governors, in our federal system that commits overall commander-in-chief responsibility and foreign affairs (head of state) primacy to the federal Executive, no state governor has executive experience on these matters comparable to that which must be exercised by the POTUS. State governors are, however, executives, with experience running large organizations of a sort that mere legislators at any level — including U.S. Congressmen and Senators — don't acquire. That's part of the explanation for why America has so often elected state chief executive officers (governors) to become the federal chief executive officer (POTUS), often with salutary results (see, e.g., Ronald Reagan's victory in the Cold War).

Even with the limited role that our system apportions to state governors as commanders-in-chief of their state national guards and the state executives ultimately responsible for law enforcement within their jurisdictions, those governors still have and wield executive authority that includes putting guard members' and law enforcement officers' lives on the line — in enforcement of criminal law, in handling civil disorders and riots, and in emergencies like forest fires and floods. They send them into harms' way; they direct their activities while there; and sometimes, they have go to the funerals and hand flags to grieving relatives. And among all state governors, the governor of Alaska — as the state leader with closest continual proximity to a hostile foreign state — does indeed have responsibilities and obtain defense briefings beyond those received by, for example, the governor of Arkansas (which need not fear hostile bomber overflights from Missouri). No one can seriously argue that this compares to actually being the POTUS. But it's not nothing, either. And of executive experience in general, or experience personally making decisions that have put anyone's lives on the line in particular, "nothing" is the exactly appropriate description for both Sens. Obama and Biden, because neither member of the Democratic Party's ticket can match Gov. Palin's experience of that sort (or any other state governor's, for that matter).

Obviously, Gov. Palin was selected not to augment McCain's own strengths, but to balance the ticket: A governor to complement a senator, someone with executive experience in government to complement an experienced federal legislator, youth and energy to complement age and experience. (The conspicuous exception is that they both share strong credentials as vigorous reformers.)

Sen. McCain did a great deal at last night's debate to dispel doubts about his age and mental crispness, and those who vote for him may do so with the full and reasonable expectation that he'll ably serve out at least one term. Gov. Palin's own record of accomplishments in office, along with her electoral appeal and the prospect that she will join him as a crusading reformer in Washington, amply justify her selection, and her gubernatorial experience will match that of another young and dynamic GOP vice presidential nominee upon assuming office — one T.R. Roosevelt of New York. And when he suddenly ascended to the top job, he only did well enough to get his face on Mt. Rushmore.

McCain/Palin: 'I Have a Bracelet, Too' and Absolutely No Clue What It Means!

c

CLICK MY POST TITLE FOR BARACK OBAMA'S "I HAVE A BRACELET,TOO!" Speech - 'thigh-tingling' . . .say the New York Times and Milky Mattews!!!!!

'From Sgt , Uh . . .'

Collect them All, Kids! Be A Real Commander in Chief! Just like the Big Guys!

Madre De Dios! The Kid's A Caution!

Here's another such reaction from the New York Post.

One of last night's most telling moments came when McCain revealed a wristband that had belonged to a soldier killed in Iraq given to him by the soldier's mother. Do everything in your power, the mother told McCain, to make sure "my son's death was not in vain."

"I've got a bracelet, too," Obama said - given to him by the mother of a dead soldier who asked Obama to "make sure that another mother's not going through what I'm going through."

Here lies the difference between these two men:

Obama will accept defeat if continuing on hurts too much. For McCain, any mission where defeat is an option is a mission not worth fighting in the first place.

Barney Franks Sings The ACORN Song - In The Tank and On the Stage for His Patrons

The Acorn Song

I'm a little acorn brown,
Sitting on the cold cold ground,
Every body steps on me,
That is why I'm cracked you see.

Chorus:

I'm a nut
I'm a nut
I'm a nut, I'm a nut, I'm a nut

Called my self up on the phone,
Just to hear my glorious tone,
Asked myself out on a date,
Gotta be ready at half past eight.

(Chorus)

Took myself to the movie show,
Sat me down in the very front row,
Wrapped my arms around my waist,
Got so fresh I slapped my face.

(Chorus)

Coca cola came to town,
Pepsi cola shot him down,
Dr. Pepper fixed him up,
Now we all drink 7-up.

7-up got the flu,
Now we all drink Mt. Dew;
Mt. Dew got in a fight,
Now we all drink Lots of Sprite.*

I'm a little piece of tin,
Nobody know what shape I'm in,
Got four wheels and a running board,
I ain't a Chevy and I ain't a Ford.

Honk, Honk, Rattle, Rattle, Crash, Beep Beep,
Honk, Honk, Rattle, Rattle, Crash, Beep Beep!

*Other Soda verses can be added at this point:
(Extended Dance remix version)

Lot'sof Sprite was a thug,
Now we all drink lots of Mug
Lot's of Mug went to lunch,
Now we all drink Hawaiian Punch.

Hawaiian Punch liked to splurge,
Now we all drink lots of Surge,
Lot'sof Surge became a father,
Now we all drink lots of water.

“Bad manners make a journalist.” Oscar Wilde on Sarah Palin

“A true gentleman is one who is never unintentionally rude”

Allow me, Governor.

Sarah Palin, though a resident of Alaska lives in my neighborhood. Katie Couric, Charlie Gibson, Chris Rock, Bill Maher, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, Campbell Brown, Chris Matthews and all of your critics do not.

Sarah Palin, like my neighbors, Democrats largely, white and black, Catholic and Protestant,. . . Danny Levi who owned the Irish Temple Pub died last year, so Jews are scarce immediately - alot of Muslims near by.

They are great people with wonderful manners, even during Little League . . .not so much during softball, or Catholic League Games - can get contentious.

People in my neighborhood, like in Kankakee, IL, Elyria, OH, Bettendorf, IA or Moscow, WI are unfamiliar with creepy people. We pay Cable, Satellite and DISH companies for that. That is the only way boors get in our homes.

The gottcha game on TV is understood. Like I said Sarah Palin, is unfamiliar with jerks. People in the media capitalize on the good nature and manners of people. The more off-putting or ridiculous statement or lie tossed in the face of good person like Sarah Palin, stuns and is meant to stun. Good manners and propriety in a social setting, like an interview keep good people from responding to a stupid, misleading or offensive question.

The more stupid, misleading and offensive the jerk happens to be, the bigger the geek ( once freaks in side-shows who performed disgusting acts for pay) the bigger the network cache.

There will be plenty of time for Vice President Sarah Palin to let Katie, Keith, Rachel, Chris, Charlie and the others in on 'what makes her tick.' That will be must see TV.

In the mean time allow me to offer a sound byte you may wish to employ in the mean time:

Katie: 'Governor what makes you think . . .'

Sarah: 'Why, We call that a thought muscle up in Wasilla Katie.'

Keith: ' William Howard Taft . . .'

Sarah: 'The poor guy is dead, Keith. He left an empty space in many hearts. And in his environment. Really. Are you still biting the bubbles in the bathtub, Keith?'

Charlie: 'What is the Bush Doctrine?'

Sarah: ' It is the codification of beliefs, attributed to George W. Bush our 43rd President that holds that pussies in pinz nez glasses acting like Rex Harrison after a sponge bath by Paul Begala have about three seconds before my husband Todd reenacts Sonny kicking Carlo's ass from Godfather - that's a film Charley . . .here's Todd now!'

Rachel: 'With . . .'

Sarah: 'Not even With an Act of God Rachel. But bless you for asking!'

Chris Matthews: 'How . . .'

Sarah: 'Answer the Question Chris this is Hardball! This isn't Funny! Answer! "What Are You Stupid? My God ! "He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire.” Winston Churchill said that about You Chris!'

McCain/Palin: Stephen Hayes - The Real Story on the Franks, Dodd, Reid, Schumer Mad Haters Tea Party!

Read Stephen Hayes's account of the events concerning the Balls Up on Wall Street Crisis - created by Franks, Reid, Schumer and Dodd; dumped on the American Taxpayer; endangering the American Economy; and scuttling Obama's Auadacious Hopes of a Redistribution of Waelth President.

These four weasels and their Media stooges should be run out of office - for starters.

Stephen Hayes presents a genuine piece of reportage:

Yesterday afternoon, I went to CNN to talk about bailout politics. When I arrived, I was surprised to learn from the other two panelists--CNN's Gloria Borger and the Washington Post's Dana Milbank--that a deal on an amended version of the Treasury Department's $700 billion bailout plan was close. I was surprised because I had been hearing the opposite--that House Republicans were increasingly opposed to a deal and that such a deal seemed less likely yesterday than it was when the plan was originally proposed. But others, including the Associated Press, were reporting that a deal was imminent.

Then, earlier today, the AP reported that such a deal had, in fact, been reached. The Washington Post soon followed, in an article that strongly suggested McCain was irrelevant to the process and reported that he had arrived after a deal had been struck.

McCain's "Straight Talk Air" landed at National Airport just after noon, and McCain's motorcade sped toward the Senate. But by then, senior Democrats and Republicans colleagues were already announcing that a deal in principle had been reached.

The Obama campaign gleefully sent the Post story out to reporters at 4:22 and affixed its own headline: "'Straight Talk Air' lands after deal was announced."

So what happened? I'm not sure anyone knows the full story, but here is my take. When John McCain announced that he was suspending his campaign, Democrats moved quickly to portray the decision as strictly political. (Senator Chuck Schumer said as much in an interview on CNN.) An
important element of their case was convincing reporters that a deal was close and McCain presence was (a) unnecessary, (b) potentially detrimental, or (c) both.

But that's a hard case for them to make for two reasons. First, Harry Reid. On Wednesday Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid had explicitly called for McCain to use his influence as party leader to bring House Republicans along. "We need, now, the Republicans to start producing some votes for us," Reid said. "We need the Republican nominee for president to let us know where he stands and what we should do." Reid explained that McCain was crucial to any deal because his approval of a deal would give congressional Republicans political cover necessary to sign on to a bipartisan agreement. The second reason: House Republicans were never on board. Earlier this week, they gave Vice President Dick Cheney an earful about their opposition to the deal. Yesterday morning, a group of about 50 conservative House Republicans got together and when one speaker asked for a show of hands from those who support the bailout, less than a handful said they were likely to support it. One staffer for a Republican in House leadership said: "Understand one thing. House Republicans were never on board."

By this morning, Senator Christopher Dodd and Representative Barney Frank--the two lead congressional Democrats on this issue--were telling reporters that a deal was close. But according to House sources, those claims were nonsense. "This was a smart political move by Senator McCain--working in a bipartisan fashion to try to get something done," says a senior House Republican aide. "It's something he's done in the past." Democrats, this Republican says, immediately began plotting to deny McCain credit for a deal if one was reached and to blame him if a deal was not reached.

Click my post title for the full Magilla! These creeps ( Franks, Dodd, Schumer, Reid)need an old fashioned tar and feathering! Obama has no clue about what is going on - he's being Presidential - President of Waffles!

Hayes! America owes you a beer the size of Senator Obama's hubris!

McCain/Palin: McCain Is Leading and Obama is . . .Posturing. Should Be a Great Debate!

For all of Obama's 'thigh-tingling and soaring words,' he does not get it. Country over self; service over self-interest; sacrifice over personal interest.

McCain understands and lives those tenets. Obama is the deer in the head-lights. The moving vehicle rolling at him is Service, Leadership and Command Presence. He called for a limo and finds a forty foot Peterbilt hauling Commitment roaring at him.
Jump to the curb, Senator!

McCain was begged to help bailout Reid, Dodd,Schmer, and Barney Franks. He came. He saw the disaster and now he is helping fix the boondoggle created by the redistribution of wealth nutbags. The Genii is out of the bottle and Obama is running to Old Miss!

You know what, Senator? McCain will be in Old Miss, even if he stays in D.C. - this call to service can not be called back.

"When you start injecting presidential politics into delicate negotiations, you can actually create more problems, rather than less," Obama said on CNN.

Aides from both camps were moving ahead with preparations at the University of Mississippi, where officials expressed confidence that the debate would take place on time this evening at 9 o'clock.

Some leading strategists in both parties have said the first debate could be the most decisive moment in the campaign, no matter when it happens.

Karl Rove, who guided George W. Bush's rise to the White House, has said "it may be the fall's most critical event."

But many other strategists, including some deeply involved in the presidential campaign, say the cumulative effect will be more important than any single encounter.

"It's not until you get through all three of them that you see the ultimate impact," said Bill Carrick, a Democratic campaign veteran.

John McCain's chief pollster, Bill McInturff, said much the same thing this week. The Republican strategist described the period of the presidential and vice presidential debates - from today until Oct. 15 - as "a two-and-a-half-week black hole" in the flow of the campaign.

"Something's going to happen," the McCain adviser told reporters. Including next week's vice presidential face-off, "we'll have four debates. We'll wait three or four days after those last debates are over, and we'll know where we're at."

Those with experience in national campaigns agree these events have the potential to sway the outcome of a presidential contest that remains highly competitive.

McCain seemed to have scored a tactical victory in the lead-up to his first meeting with Obama, once again shaking up the race and perhaps providing himself with new talking points tonight.

McCain/Palin: Barney Hisses 'Republicans Winces, But WE HAVE OUR GIGI!"

Wince? Wince, Barney?

Get this. Barney Franks who was instrumental in over-catering the mortgage give away affair that collapsed American Credit is hissing mad about John McCain's Leadership and wants none of it!

Here's the Scoop, Dears! Barney whispered to The Crypt's deliciously available Ryan Grim ( dear me - The Crypt? Grim?)

Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) said that "nobody mentioned McCain" during the several-hour-long meeting on the $700 billion market rescue plan, other than Frank and that his Republican colleagues "winced" when he did.

"He’s been irrelevant to the process. He remains to be," said Frank. "I was afraid that his dropping in here, like Andy Kaufman’s Mighty Mouse—'here I am to save the day'—I thought that would slow things down. I didn’t see any sign of our Republican colleagues paying any attention to him whatsoever."

Franks went on. "Nobody mentioned him. The man’s irrelevant to the whole process. No Republican mentioned his name. I’m the only one who raised his name. They winced when I did," he said.

"I don’t think anyone takes that seriously," said Frank of McCain's suggestion that Friday's debate be delayed. "Sen. McCain trying to use the necessity for his presence to reach a deal that we’ve already reached as a reason to duck the debate is unworthy of him. There is absolutely no reason not to go to the debate."

Frank was equally cool about today's meeting with the White House. "The White House isn’t show and tell. We’re going to the White House because the president asked us to go. Nobody thinks at this point that anything useful’s going to happen. But we now have to get things drafted and worked on. The White House meeting is just an interruption in our schedule," he said.

Though he said McCain's presence would be unhelpful, he did say, getting a dig in at McCain's running mate, that there "were times when I was ready to suggest that, when we got to some of the more complicated issues about how do you price these sophisticated instruments, that we ask him to make Sarah Palin available to give us her expertise."

They winced - positively winced! Which originally, Dears, meant 'to dodge!' Adorable!

Barney Franks and many more than one member of his Committee will be dodging 'more' than a few inquiries with regard to the collapse of American Banking and the near collapse of the American Economy. Barney Franks sounds like a marble salesman with a mouthful of samples to begin with and his answers to the American People had better be more than hissing at John McCain's Leadership.

Pretty slipshod and quick work on the legislation there, Barney. It had better pass McCain's muster.

McCain/Palin: McCain Acts - Obama Waffles Present Again, Time and Time Again

'Time and Time Again' is one of Senator Obama's throw-away lines when he paints himself into a tight corner, like the Surge; whether he heard Rev. Wright 'God Damn American in twenty years; when, how and to what extent Senator Obama worked under domestic terrorist William Ayers; how much he depended on the money and influence of Tony Rezko; or how strongly Fannie Mae CEO Jim Johnson helped direct his run for the White House.

Time and again Senator Obama has sat pat and allowed events and Media propaganda to sweep away his problems. Not so this dire financial bail-out crisis gripping America.

Obama wants to have his waffles and eat them too.

McCain puts Country before his own Hopes and wants:

Democrats had dared Sen. John McCain to show leadership on the Wall Street crisis and he stepped up. He put his campaign on hold Wednesday and challenged Sen. Barack Obama to postpone Friday's debate, which Democrats had hoped to turn into a forum on failed Republican economic policies.

Less than a month after he canceled the first night of the Republican National Convention, Mr. McCain again flashed his signature maverick style, declaring President Bush's proposed $700 billion bailout dead and, as he's done so often in the past, said he could help broker a bipartisan deal to cut through the political clutter.

Democratic candidate Sen. Barack Obama refused to cancel the debate, but Wednesday night accepted an invitation from President Bush to a bipartisan summit on the economic bailout package that also will include Mr. McCain and other top members of Congress and the administration.

In rejecting Mr. McCain's debate postponement, Mr. Obama said the Republican showed his own limits rather than real leadership.

"It is going to be part of the president's job to deal with more than one thing at once," Mr. Obama told reporters in Florida. "If it turns out that we need to be in Washington, we've both got big planes - we've painted our slogans on the side of them - they can get us from Washington, D.C., to Mississippi fairly quickly."

Mr. Obama's campaign said he called Mr. McCain at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, proposing a joint statement on the economic situation. The two men again spoke privately at 2:30 p.m., but minutes later, Mr. McCain then went much further and told reporters that he wanted to postpone all politicking.

The McCain campaign said last night that Mr. Obama's refusal would not affect their plans. The Arizona senator announced that he was canceling his political commercials and would return to Washington after a final nonpartisan speech Thursday to the Clinton Global Initiative. He also said he was suspending fundraising, though the link on his Web site for contributions to his campaign compliance fund still worked Wednesday night.

Mr. McCain said top leaders from both parties should meet and hammer out details of a bill that that they would then present to their colleagues as the best solution possible - exactly the way he has crafted deals on other major issues, such as judicial nominees and immigration.

Just as he did more than forty years when offered the chance to leave the Hanoi Hilton, McCain has acted in the interest of his country.

"I am confident that before the markets open on Monday, we can achieve consensus on legislation that will stabilize our financial markets, protect taxpayers and homeowners, and earn the confidence of the American people," he said. "All we must do to achieve this is temporarily set politics aside, and I am committed to doing so."

It's the second time in less than a month that he's tried to show leadership by canceling a political event. Just weeks ago, he pulled commercials and scrapped most of the first day of the Republican National Convention, saying he didn't want to distract from the relief efforts surrounding Hurricane Ike.

Americans see that. Obama does not understand that. The Media ignores that and worse . . . they mock that.

McCain?Palin: Seth Pie-Gallon's Progressive Thoughts on McCain/Palin, Racism, Classism, Systemic Gaming Systems, Sweet Movies

I'm* talking about the Bail Out Crisis because Old Man Hickey already did and said that he is against the bail out which means I am for it. God, I hate him! Mean People Suck! He Hates the Dead. Hickey listens to the Young Rascals - they had a TV show I guess. He's all about black white. I hate him! Hickey Sucks!

I read Steve Weber in Huffington Post, because Hickey hates him and the show Wings was pretty cool I guess its on Lifetime Channel and my Mom watches it. Steve Weber is one of the guys on the show but he's really smart.

Weber is really smart and knows stuff like this about the bail out I highlighted the really fetch stuff he says - he reads books, I guess. Check it out, Dude:

The fraudulent grounds for what will be an even larger haul than what was bagged by The Shakedown in Iraq have been laid out by the latest Bush henchman Machine Gun Henry Paulson and his sidekick Binky Bernanke: almost a trillion buckeroos pulled from the remaining orifices of the now officially comatose American public to bail out the very wankers who have picked them clean. Wow. Even Winston Smith is dumbfounded.

It's like watching a rape from a few feet away only nobody's screaming and nobody cares. So desensitized and dehumanized is the American public that the thieves are sure to get away clean. This will surely become a fascinating chapter in the history of the late, great United States for future students to study. They will see the deleterious effects of constant exposure to television, an educational and entertainment tool that was used for nefarious purposes by Those Greedy Bastards. They will build dioramas of the massive shopping boxes which perched like roach motels in cities and towns, drawing people in to consume beyond their means to digest, beyond their means to afford. They will study the steady reduction of standards of education and information, the virtual obliteration of history and they will note the side effects: progressive brain softening and deterioration of free will and the diminution of once proud swaths of the American public to atrophied, docile clods, roused only when their sugar is withheld or one of their pagan gods is criticized.

That is so cool! I hate Sarah Palin and she makes me sick! Alaska is near Russia - yeah. God is she stupid and McCain can't work a e-mail. O Hate them Obama Rules we're all getting a tax-cut, health care, and no War. Only racists are for McCain and Old People like Hickey.

The bail out will be good because there was this guy on MSNBC and he said Bush did nothing for Africa. I'm tired. I think Rachel Maddow is Hot!

Vote Obama on November 5th! Tina Fey reminded me!

With every nickel in my couch and dollar in the pockets of my great fitting and casually male Dockers going to Wells Fargo Mortgage, ComEd, Peoples Gas, AT&T, WOW Cable, County Fair Grocery Store, Kean Gas, St. Cajetan Parish & School, Cook County Treasurer, City of Chicago Departments. of Revenue, & Water, the odd meal out and to the kids in my role as ATM Machine, I hope and pray that this scummy bail out bill dies a quick and horrible death.

With the very same voices ( Frank, Dodd, Obama, & etc.) of oily concern ,who demanded that every American deserves a home, even if he/she can not anywhere near afford it, clamoring for this bail out of the scum-bag pirates and smarmy politicians, I pray that this bill dies an agonizing death.

The American Market will adjust. People will still stand in line for XXXBOX -9000 Game Systems; IPod Universals; and LaLaPalooza Tickets at $ 165 a pop! Moms will not be saving bacon drippings. Dads will not be shingling the roofs with the soles of cast off Reebok's.

McCain/Palin: Barack Obama Is the Man Who Never Was

Way back when Barack Obama decided to become a national icon of post-racial politics and the agent of change, he no longer was seen publicly with the people from the Chicago Wards who helped get him elected to the Illinois Senate and the U.S. Senate. I commented on this fact in a blog that I was once a contributor - Illinoize. I stopped writing for that local blog during the goofy and failed BIG BOX Ordinance idiocy orchestrated by SEIU ( one of Obama's crucial political organizations). I criticized SEIU for masquerading as a labor union and noted the willingness of the already co-opted Media in playing dress up for that redistribution of wealth agenda.

Obama became a figure. I vote for a person and I hitched my vote to John McCain who happened to be a Republican. All of Obama's wardrobe has been designed and cut by Progressives and that is why Obama is never seen with Ward level Democratic volunteers or leaders. He is post-political -doncha know? The very people who Obama sneered at in San Francisco ( working class people Catholics, Jews, and Protestants) helped bring him to elected office. Obama needed the Chicago Democratic Ward level help -in that case the Machine helped Obama more than he helped the Chicago Machine. The goofs who did McCain's Chicago Ad should have spent a little time with a Chicagoan. Not that he'd say anything - 'I don' know nuttin' see! Dis Canary don' sing, see?' So, the Mad Men did what most Chicago films do - background shots - and missed the true nature of the truth.

But, Obama became a Progressive clotheshorse and wore raiment of their cookie-cutter pose of a leader.

Today, Tony Blankley got to heart of Obama's problem - the Man is Not Genuine. He is like the Man Who Never Was from WWII.

The image of Barack Obama that the press has presented is not a fair approximation of the real man. They have consciously ignored whole years in his life, and showed a lack of curiosity about such gaps that bespeaks a lack of journalistic instinct. Thus, the public image of Mr. Obama is of a "Man who never was." I take that phrase from a 1956 movie about a real life WWII British intelligence operation to trick the Germans into thinking the Allies were going to invade Greece, rather than Italy, in 1943. Operation "Mincemeat" involved the acquisition of a human corpse dressed as a Maj. William Martin, R.M. and put into the sea near Spain. Attached to the corpse was a brief-case containing fake letters suggesting that the Allied attack would be against Sardinia and Greece.

To make the operation credible, British intelligence created a fictional life for the corpse — a letter from a lover, tickets to a London theater, all the details of a life — but not the actual life of the dead young man whose corpse was being used. So, too, the man the media has presented to the nation as Mr. Obama is not the real man.

Absolutely, Sir! Obama makes Hollywood look Genuine. Obama makes what passes for journalism these days look like the real deal. Obama's past and associations are guarded like weapons grade plutonium - unless of course in the former Soviet Union. The very people howling for Obama are not what one might consider Genuine -Bill Maher,The View, MSNBC, Pamela Sue Anderson, P-Diddy, Tony Rezko, Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers, Keith Olbermann and Tom Hayden. Genuine clowns to be sure, but persons?

There is a genuine problem with Barcak Obama's will to be anything but Genuine and Tony Blankley says it better than anyone else.

The public image of Mr. Obama as an idealistic, post-race, post-partisan, well-spoken and honest young man with the wisdom and courage befitting a great national leader is a confection spun by a willing conspiracy of Mr. Obama, his publicist David Axelrod and most of the senior editors, producers and reporters of the national media.

Perhaps that is why the National Journal's respected correspondent Stuart Taylor has written that "the media can no longer be trusted to provide accurate and fair campaign reporting and analysis." That conspiracy has not only photo-shopped out all of Mr. Obama's imperfections (and dirtied up his opponent Mr. McCain's image), but it has put most of his questionable history down the memory hole.

The public will be voting based on the idealized image of the man who never was. If he wins, however, we will be governed by the sunken, cynical man Mr. Obama really is. One can only hope that the senior journalists will be judged as harshly for their professional misconduct as Wall Street's leaders currently are for their failings.

McCain/Palin: The World of Commander Joe McBragg! 'Afghanistan . . .Quite!'

Commander Joe McBragg: 'Afghanistan - there! Have I ever told you of my adventures there! Thus,

"If you want to know where Al Qaeda lives, you want to know where Bin Laden is, come back to Afghanistan with me," Biden said. "Come back to the area where my helicopter was forced down, with a three-star general and three senators at 10,500 feet in the middle of those mountains. I can tell you where they are."

America - Astounding, Commander!

McBragg - Quite.

Cue Theme Song!
The World of Commander McBragg Theme Song:
This is the World of Commander McBragg
Your hair will curl in the World of McBragg.
He fights monsters galore
And then asks for still more
Or so says the brag of McBragg.

When on the hill the marines plant a flag
They may be led by Commander McBragg.
With a cannon in hand
He can beat any band
Or so says the brag of McBragg.

Fencing and fighting and round table knighting
And slaying of dragons, too.
Shipping and sailing and great harpoon whaling
There's nothing McBragg can't do.
Hunting and trapping and gold miner mapping
And flying to Timbuktu.
Roping and riding and Indian guiding
Commander McBragg comes through.

This is the World of Commander McBragg
Your head will whirl in the World of McBragg.
He can do anything
In his world he's a king
Or so says the brag of McBragg.

McCain Palin: Obama is Dull, But He is Really Shrill

There's Atheists and then there's atheists. The other day I read a piece in Newsweek, an organ of Camp Obama, by Sam Harris. Sam Harris is the leader of the Reason Project dedicated 'to encourage critical thinking and wise public policy. It will convene conferences, produce films, sponsor scientific research and opinion polls, award grants to other non-profit organizations, and offer material support to religious dissidents and public intellectuals — with the purpose of eroding the influence of dogmatism, superstition and bigotry in the world.'

Harris and HBO bigot Bill Maher a key player in the Reason Project smear and assault any and all religion. Harris attacked Sarah Palin as an icon of all Harris and Maher consider to betoo stupid to live. We are breathing their rarefied air it seems.

Harris is a punk philosopher, born in the age of 'don't hit him, he's weak.'

“Let me confess that I was genuinely unnerved by Sarah Palin's performance at the Republican convention. Given her audience and the needs of the moment, I believe Governor Palin's speech was the most effective political communication I have ever witnessed. Here, finally, was a performer who—being maternal, wounded, righteous and sexy—could stride past the frontal cortex of every American and plant a three-inch heel directly on that limbic circuit that ceaselessly intones "God and country." If anyone could make Christian theocracy smell like apple pie, Sarah Palin could.

http://onegoodmove.org/1gm/1gmarchive/2008/09/sam_harris_on_s.html

Theocracy? What manner of coinage does Brother Harris Use? Still says 'In God We Trust' behind George Washington's neck on all the U.S. Minted quarters that I toss into theparking meters. Sam Harris and Bill Maher hate religion like the Inquisistion hated heresy. 'Bastinado, for you Mrs. Murphy!'

Well Sam Harris is an atheist. Thene there's Chris Hitchens, the British wit and critic of religion. Christopher Hitchens has no truck for Church-going, Psalm-singing Rubes, but he genuinely loves them.

Where Harris and Maher have entered the lists as God Mocking Knights of the Woeful Countenance, Christopher Hitchens observes the battle from the grandstands of intellectual inquiry.

He is not 'unnerved' by Governor Palin, but he is bored by Barack Obama, who is not a Muslim, but a devout Christian without a Church, until after the election.

Why is Obama so vapid and hesitant and gutless? Why, to put it another way, does he risk going into political history as a dusky Dukakis? Well, after the self-imposed Jeremiah Wright nightmare, he can't afford any more militancy, or militant-sounding stuff, even if it might be justified. His other problems are self-inflicted or party-inflicted as well. He couldn't have picked a gifted Democratic woman as his running mate, because he couldn't have chosen a female who wasn't the ever-present Sen. Clinton, and so he handed the free gift of doing so to his Republican opponent (whose own choice has set up a screech from the liberals like nothing I have heard since the nomination of Clarence Thomas). So the unquantifiable yet important "atmospherics" of politics, with all their little X factors, belong at present to the other team.

The Dukakis comparison is, of course, a cruel one, but it raises a couple more questions that must be faced. We are told by outraged Democrats that many voters still believe, thanks to some smear job, that Sen. Obama is a Muslim. Yet who is the most famous source of this supposedly appalling libel (as if an American candidate cannot be of any religion or none)? Absent any anonymous whispering campaign, the person who did most to insinuate the idea in public—"There is nothing to base that on. As far as I know"—was Obama's fellow Democrat and the junior senator from New York. It was much the same in 1988, when Al Gore brought up the Dukakis furlough program, later to be made infamous by the name Willie Horton, against the hapless governor of Massachusetts who was then his rival for the nomination.

By the end of that grueling campaign season, a lot of us had got the idea that Dukakis actually wanted to lose—or was at the very least scared of winning. Why do I sometimes get the same idea about Obama? To put it a touch more precisely, what I suspect in his case is that he had no idea of winning this time around. He was running in Iowa and New Hampshire to seed the ground for 2012, not 2008, and then the enthusiasm of his supporters (and the weird coincidence of a strong John Edwards showing in Iowa) put him at the front of the pack. Yet, having suddenly got the leadership position, he hadn't the faintest idea what to do with it or what to do about it.

Look at the record, and at Obama's replies to essential and pressing questions. The surge in Iraq? I'll answer that only if you insist. The credit crunch? Please may I be photographed with Bill Clinton's economic team? Georgia? After you, please, Sen. McCain. A vice-presidential nominee? What about a guy who, despite his various qualities, is picked because he has almost no enemies among Democratic interest groups?

Yep, Barack Obama is dull, but he is also shrill. Obama is negative - The Surge Can't Work! The Economy is Doomed! Americans Cling! Americans are Bitter! Americans Are Racist! Americans Are Not Elite!

Dull, but Shrill. There's Atheists and then ther's atheists.

McCain/Palin: Obama;Ayers; Hugo Chavez and Chinese & Russian Military Weapons

For all of the 'hard-hitting, scrappy and independent Chicago news hounds' - that would be John Kass and Tim Novak. How about a bit of 'investigative work' on Billy Ayers and community organizer Presidential would -be Barack Obama?

Let's root out the connection. Before you say that there is none - let's take a look at what is out in the public eye.

Here is the time-line for Barack Obama and his 'guy from the neighborhood' with the drag to close a University of Illinois Chicago library to an investigative journalist - Billy Boy Ayers.

1987 William Ayers meets Barack Obama

1988 Ayers solicits Khalid Al-Mansour to raise money for Obama's Harvard law School education

1989 Tom Ayers and William Ayers get Obama a summer job at Sidley & Austin (where he meets Michelle Obama); Ayers' wife Bernadine Dohrn also worked at Sidley at about the same time as Barack and Michelle.

1993 Ayers places Obama on Woods Foundation

1995 Ayers makes Obama Chairman of Annenberg Challenge

1995 Ayers hosts a coffee klatch for Obama's political debut (Obama falsely claims this is when he met Ayers)

2007-2008 The structure of Obama's presidential campaign increasingly comes to resemble an Ayers-designed national "community organizer matrix" straight out of Maoist theory. This is not merely a presidential "campaign." Obama's organization is the first installment of an ongoing movement being paid for with tax-exempt contributions to his campaign, approaching half a billion dollars.

2008Obama In response to ABC News, Obama tells a national TV audience he was "six years old" when Ayers bombed federal buildings, and they are only casual neighborhood acquaintances. A lie.

Okay, gritty news-hounds! Let's take the leash off! William Ayers has long been a conduit for Revolution through Hugo Chavez. Ayers 'adopted' kid works for Chavez. The Woods Fund records would be a nice source to follow the moeny from Woods Fund to 'community organizers' to Hugo Chavez* - the Man with Chevron Gas Stations right on South Western Ave. at about 49th Street! I'll bet that some COMMUNITY ORGANIZER - got the start up for that gas station and that it can be traced through the community developent LISC to Woods. BTW- try and track down any Chevron listings for Chicago. Go to work, newsies. Oh, that's right. Not allowed.

Americans will face Chinese and Russian made military aircraft in the Wetern Hemisphere. On Friday, I hope McCain goes for Obama's doughy belly on South America.

* El Jefe: Hugo Chavez -
Venezuela will buy combat and training aircraft from China this week, leftist Venezuela President Hugo Chavez confirmed in a television broadcast Sunday.
The purchases will be made as part of a six-country tour, Chavez said in his broadcast of the "Alo President" television program from the Miraflores presidential palace in Caracas, hours before leaving on a "strategic interest" trip to Cuba, China, Russia, Belarus, France and Portugal.

Chavez, a staunch foe of the US government, confirmed that during his stay in Beijing he will purchase 24 K-8 aircraft "to train fighter pilots." The planes could be part of Venezuela's air force by next year.

The president also confirmed that while in Beijing he will arrange the construction of tanker vessels in Chinese shipyards, with the aim of installing a shipyard in Venezuela in the near future.

These plans come in addition to the construction of a refinery in China to process oil from Venezuela, and plans to create a bi-national company to install a refinery in the remote oil-rich Orinoco region in eastern Venezuela.

Caracas provides 500,000 barrels of oil per day to Beijing, a trade which is expected to increase to one million barrels a day by 2012.

Chavez, who describes China as a strategic ally, will move forward with a six billion dollar bilateral investment fund. China will contribute four billion dollars to the fund, and Venezuela two billion dollars.

Caracas will use the fund for "socialist productive projects."

"Before we had to go to Washington to beg for money. Not now. Now we negotiate with the Chinese," said Chavez.

Chavez announced that during his visit to Beijing the investment fund will benefit from an additional four billion dollars for further "development" in Venezuela.

After China, Chavez will head to Moscow.

Venezuela in recent years has been broadening its military ties to Moscow, and Chavez backed Russia in the recent Georgian conflict.

Last week, Russian supersonic Tu-160 bombers for the first time flew training runs with Venezuela in an area of the Caribbean traditionally considered the US military's sphere of influence.

Chavez's trip is expected to last until September 27.

McCain/Palin: McCain -The Catholic Vote

Brian Burch, President of the Catholic Organization Fidelis has endorsed John McCain. I am a Catholic, a pretty dinged-up, dirty and nevertheless devout Catholic, but in good Communion. I am also a voter. I am voting for John McCain, a pretty dinged-up, dirty and nevertheless devout Christian. Joe Biden is a Catholic of the Dick Durbin - Do as Planned Parenthood Says variety. It is too bad that many of us Catholic Democrats played ball with groups that absolutely and historically detest everything we hold sacred, but that's politics. The politics of convenience by too many Democrats requires that some politicians sneer and spit on our Faith. How a Catholic politician could appear on a show with a louse like Bill Maher and not coldcock the smary punk while he mocks the faith of 67 million Americans is beyond me. But they do . . . and more troubling, they do what Maher and other Catholic haters want.

Catholic Vote.com has a compellingly beautiful tribute and analysis of Catholic America on You Tube. Click my post title for the video.

Here is Brian Burch's major points in why Catholics should vote for John McCain/Sarah Palin:

With the GOP presidential sweepstakes now winnowing, faithful Catholics might reasonably begin to ask whether Sen. John McCain of Arizona could be the next “Catholic” president. I believe the evidence favors such a hope.

In an address to conservatives earlier this month, McCain attempted to lay to rest any doubt about his pro-life views.

“I believe today as I believed 25 years ago … in the social values that are the true source of our strength,” he said. And “the steadfast defense of our rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, which I have defended my entire career as God-given to the born and unborn.”

The choice of words was not an accident, and was made more forceful by his statement that shortly followed: “I am not in the habit of making promises to my country that I do not intend to keep.”

McCain willingly staked his political life on the surge in Iraq, saying at the time that he would rather lose an election than lose a war. The strategy has since silenced its critics, and McCain has quickly become the most trusted leader on how to responsibly end the war — by winning it.

Perseverance in a worthy cause despite criticism is a trait we should esteem in a political candidate.

McCain no doubt feels that is what he exhibits on issues like immigration. The backlash of many conservatives against the McCain-Kennedy comprehensive immigration bill spelled apostasy for many GOP supporters.

While Denver Archbishop Charles Chaput called the legislation “imperfect” while he urged Catholics to support the bill as a reasonable balance between the need to enforce the rule of law and the need to treat with dignity “millions of our fellow human beings.” Archbishop Raymond Burke of St. Louis, no stranger to political controversy, cautioned, “Let us be tireless in welcoming the stranger into our midst with Christlike respect and love.”

Archbishop Chaput admitted that “good people can disagree sharply on this sensitive issue” but argued that our current laws create “impossible contradictions and suffering,” and called on Americans to respond with both justice and mercy.

Ironically, at the time the immigration bill was being debated, McCain found himself outside his own party and instead in the camp of many Catholic social justice advocates.

Today, his leadership on the issue will likely help his chances with Hispanic voters against the Democratic nominee in November.

Similarly, McCain’s leadership in helping pass the anti-torture amendment in 2005, along with his consistent reminder of the need to respect the dignity of the human person, even in warfare, once again found him out of step with his party’s base, but very much in step with Catholic teaching.

The “warmongering” tag that will likely be leveled against McCain in the coming months will need to be weighed against his efforts at preserving our own moral integrity in the prosecution of the war on terror.

Catholics should welcome McCain’s judgment in this area, formed in large part from his own experiences.

To be sure, the prudential judgments of McCain on issues like immigration are quite distinct from the unequivocal obligation to protect innocent human life in the womb, human embryos and the institution of marriage.

McCain’s record here is mixed, and even problematic on the issue of public funding for research that involves the killing of human embryos.

Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., an ardent defender of the rights of the unborn and supporter of McCain, believes the advancements in science provide him an opportunity to abandon embryo-killing research altogether. Others have suggested that McCain has signaled his willingness to reconsider his vote in favor of the destructive research. Such signals, if true, will further bolster McCain’s credibility with faithful Catholics.

On the issue of marriage, McCain has been criticized harshly for opposing the Federal Marriage Amendment, a remedy he argued was not proportionate to the threat, and that stood little chance of success.

Employing his instincts, McCain urged caution in amending the Constitution, and instead argued that the issue should be left to the states.

He did support the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act, which still protects states from the recklessness of others like Massachusetts. And in his home state of Arizona, he supported a ban on homosexual “marriage” that included a ban on civil unions.

While many Catholics, including me, disagreed with McCain’s judgment on the need for federal protection, our disagreements were not over whether marriage should be preserved, but how it ought to be done.

The “Catholic” badge in presidential politics has a storied and controversial history.

One thing we can be certain of is that a President Obama or President Clinton would not wear the badge very well.

Democratic celebration of abortion rights, redefining of marriage and the destruction of human embryos have been turning away Catholics at an ever-increasing rate.

Brian Burch is the president of Fidelis,

a national grassroots advocacy group,

John McCain for president.

McCain/Palin; Media Leading McCain to a Landslide Over Obama

MSNBC, CNN, New York Times, Washington Post and every paper in Chicago wants Obama to President so badly that they making every effort to enusre that John McCain wins by a landslide. You see - most news readers and keypunchers in the Media have absolutely no idea about Americans - you and me. Most keypunchers with bylines are fed their stories by political stooges - let's say a dwarfish Cook County Commissioner wants Abner Nimblefinger to write an edgy expose on systemic corruption. Abner is treated to university think-tankers and professors who printout pages of gobble-dee-gook which Abner pees his britches to print. That is the state of news papers.

The TV readers skwak out whatever is put in front of them and then participate in political round-tables redacting exactly what they had read.

Obama has it made. Example, Steve Hayes writes,

According to the press, in recent weeks, the McCain campaign has so distorted Obama's record and campaign proposals that the young senator has had no choice but to fight back with old-school tactics. "McCain's tactics are drawing the scorn of many in the media and organizations tasked with fact-checking the truthfulness of campaigns," wrote Politico's Jonathan Martin. "In recent weeks, Team McCain has been described as dishonorable, disingenuous and downright cynical."

And so while McCain's every utterance is factchecked and factchecked again in an attempt to shame him from challenging Obama too aggressively, Obama gets a pass.

Consider two examples.

On August 16, Pastor Rick Warren asked John McCain how much money someone would have to make to be considered rich. McCain didn't answer directly. "I think that rich should be defined by a home, a good job, an education and the ability to hand to our children a more prosperous and safer world than the one that we inherited," he said.

Then he made a joke: "So, I think if you are just talking about income, how about $5 million?"

The audience laughed, immediately understanding that McCain was being facetious. Just in case there were any doubts McCain started his next comment by saying "seriously," to underscore the joke. Then he made a prediction.

"I'm sure that comment will be distorted," he said with a shrug of his shoulders.
And it has been. "It should come as no surprise that John McCain believes the cutoff for the rich begins at $5 million," Barack Obama's campaign said in a statement. "It may explain why his tax plan gives a $600,000 tax cut to the richest 0.1 percent of earners." At a campaign appearance two days after McCain made the comments, Obama himself mocked McCain. "I guess if you're making $3 million a year, you're middle class," Obama said.

Some news accounts noted that McCain was joking and others even reported that McCain predicted his words would be twisted and used against him. In an August 18 article in the Los Angeles Times, Greg Miller actually did both and noted that McCain aides had made clear their boss was joking. "Even so," Miller wrote, "the remark highlighted the candidates' disparate outlooks. Analysts who study income distribution said the answers appeared to reflect shifting political calculations more than economic reality."

So Miller, writing under the headline, "Who's Rich? McCain and Obama have very different definitions," used McCain's facetious answer as if he had meant it. (Miller also speculated that Cindy McCain's family money may have shaped McCain's views of what constitutes rich.) Not only was Obama not called on his misuse of McCain's comment, reporters piled on. Is it any wonder that the line has made regular appearances in Obama speeches over the past month?

"Now, I don't believe that Senator McCain doesn't care what's going on in the lives of Americans," Obama said in his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention. "I just think he doesn't know. Why else would he define middle-class as someone making under $5 million a year?"

Then there are the absurd lengths to which some reporters are willing to go to protect Obama and attack McCain. Last week, the McCain campaign released an ad accusing Obama of being too close to Fannie Mae executives. In particular, it claims Obama took advice on housing and finance issues from former Fannie Mae chairman Franklin Raines. The Obama campaign protested, saying that Raines was not an adviser and had not given Obama counsel in any capacity. The McCain campaign defended the claim by citing an article that ran in the Washington Post on July 16, 2008. That article noted that Raines had "taken calls from Barack Obama's presidential campaign seeking his advice on mortgage and housing policy matters."

Last Friday, the Washington Post "factchecked" the McCain ad and concluded that the campaign had been "clearly exaggerating wildly" in order to link Obama to Raines and that the "latest McCain attack is particularly dubious."

Factchecker Michael Dobbs wrote that McCain's evidence that Raines had advised Obama was "pretty flimsy"--not a description that probably endeared him to Anita Huslin, the reporter who wrote the story this summer. But Dobbs did talk to Huslin. Here is his account of their conversation:

Since this has now become a campaign issue, I asked Huslin to provide the exact circumstances of the quote. She explained that she was chatting with Raines during the photo shoot, and asked "if he was engaged at all with the Democrats' quest for the White House. He said that he had gotten a couple of calls from the Obama campaign. I asked him about what, and he said 'oh, general housing, economy issues.' ('Not mortgage/foreclosure meltdown or Fannie-specific,' I asked, and he said 'no.')"

By Raines's own account, he took a couple of calls from someone on the Obama campaign, and they had some general discussions about economic issues.

Got that? Huslin stands by her reporting--that Raines had given advice to the Obama campaign about mortgage and housing policy matters--and yet the McCain campaign is faulted by the Washington Post for relying on information that comes from the Washington Post.

More amusing, though, is that in the rush to accuse the McCain campaign of lying, Dobbs glosses over a major discrepancy between the story that appeared in his paper and that of the Obama campaign. Obama spokesman Bill Burton claims that the campaign "neither sought nor received" advice from Raines "on any matter." It is possible, of course, that Raines simply made up the conversations he described to the Post reporter. But it seems more likely, given the toxicity of Raines, that the Obama campaign would simply prefer that those conversations had never taken place.

Dobbs concludes: "I have asked both Raines and the Obama people for more details on these calls and will let you know if I receive a reply."

That's reassuring, since Dobbs has already decided that the McCain campaign has been dishonest. Two things are clear with six weeks left in the presidential race. Barack Obama will practice the old-style politics that he lamented throughout the Democratic primary. And the media will give him a pass.

Now, Americans read, remember and react. We remember that Obama was our State Senator and was a nice unaffected empty suit. Now he bills himself as the Rail-Splitter? Nope. That Don't Sell. Hoss.

Then along comes a genuine person - not a War Hero or Maverick, but a Hockey Mom with five kids and genuine talent. The Media recoils at authenticity.

Thus:

The media, though, has done more than simply subject Palin to questions not given to the other candidates. More importantly, it has been running interference for the Obama campaign, questioning McCain’s attacks on Obama while frequently reinforcing Obama’s on McCain.

Take a couple of examples from last week. McCain ran an ad criticizing Obama’s support for sex education for kindergartners. Seventy percent of the 2,774 news stories on McCain’s ad mentioned that the ad was a “lie” or “inaccurate.” The stories’ headlines indicate that if other ways of disparaging the McCain ad were included, this percentage would probably be much higher.

Obama’s supporter defend the legislation, saying that its purpose was to protect children from sexual abuse. True, the bill proposed teaching children not to talk to strangers, but one wonders if reporters actually read the entire bill. For example, the legislation also included this: “Each class or course in comprehensive sex education offered in any of grades K through 12 shall include instruction on the prevention of sexually transmitted infections, including the prevention, transmission and spread of HIV.” How can you teach how to prevent these different sexually transmitted diseases without getting into some details about sex?

By the way, a grand total of 22 out of 2,774 stories that mention the bill include this discussion of HIV transmission, and many of those stories were still negative about McCain.

For a more direct comparison regarding Palin, look at how the media discussed the whole lipstick-on-a-pig story. The majority of media coverage again questioned the accuracy of the ad that the McCain campaign used to strike back at Obama (using words such as “inaccurate,” “false,” “misleading,” “untrue,” and “lie”). Obama says that he was surprised that anyone could think he was referring to Palin when he said: “you can put lipstick on a pig; it’s still a pig," that the direct reference was to Bush’s policies.

But there are a few problems with Obama’s response. First, his audience thought he was referring to Palin. They started laughing and shouting after he said, "You can put lipstick on a pig," before he even got to the punch line. The AP wrote: Obama's "audience, clearly drawing a connection to Palin's joke." ABC’s Jake Tapper wrote that audience members told “reporters that they thought Obama had been alluding to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s” lipstick line. Politico noted: "Though on a day when Obama's surrogates were joking that Palin's record can't be concealed with lipstick, it was hard for those following the campaign not to hear the echo." The crowd also started chanting “No more pit bull,” indicating that the crowd got the reference to Palin’s quip at the Republican convention.

A Google news search found only 20 stories out of 6,074 mentioned the crowding laughing or shouting, and only two of those mentioned that they laughed or shouted before the punch line was given. Another search found only one single news story by US News & World Report that even mentioned both Obama’s lipstick joke and the crowd chanting “no more pit bull!”

Whatever Obama’s original intent, it would have been hard for him to claim that he was surprised that the McCain campaign would also draw the connection between his joke and Palin. Nor is it clear why he didn’t make a statement given the crowd’s reaction.

In Palin’s case, far from trying to protect her, the press frequently doesn’t even acknowledge that there might be arguments to be made in her favor.

-- The Bridge to Nowhere. The Alaska Democratic Party posted a Web page in which it declared that “State of Alaska killed bridge” -- that is the “Bridge to Nowhere.” However, after Palin’s vice presidential nomination the party took down the Web page. Yet, out of 7,556 news stories on the Bridge to Nowhere this month, a Google news search produces no hits on the phrase “State of Alaska killed bridge.”

Similarly, Sen. Ted Stevens, who was the king of the earmarks for Alaska and who had a “frosty” relationship with Palin because of her opposition to those earmarks, noted that “I don’t remember her ever campaigning for it. She was very critical of it at the time.” With all the news stories on this question, one would think that Stevens’ comment would be newsworthy, since it was his pork-barrel project. But there were only three news stories that mention his statements.

-- Cutting Earmarks. The media on this question has definitely been a bunch of “the glass is half empty” types. Instead of noting what Palin had accomplished, the game was identifying any earmarks that Alaska still received. Palin “cut nearly 10% of Alaska’s budget this year” and reduced the number of federal grants from 54 in 2007 to 31 in 2008 -- a $350 million, 64 percent cut in requests. Among the cuts in Alaska budget were a $30,000 van for Campfire USA and $200,000 for a tennis court irrigation system. Further cuts in future years were also promised.

But those changes weren’t the standard by which the media wanted to judge Palin. For example, Charles Gibson thought that he had gotten Palin in his interview when he noted that Alaska still got “$3.2 million for researching the genetics of harbor seals, money to study the mating habits of crabs” from the federal government.

Again, a simple Google news search shows how incredibly lopsided this coverage has gotten. From September 1 to September 15 there were 9,222 news stories that discuss Palin and earmarks. By contrast, a search that looked at Palin and her attempts to cut earmarks (using the terms "cut earmarks," "reduce earmarks," "trim earmarks," "slash earmarks" or "eliminate earmarks") produced incredibly only 50 news stories -- about 0.5 percent of the total stories. Even many of those 50 stories were critical and claimed that McCain had overstated Palin’s opposition to earmarks.

I spent some time looking at questions of whether Palin was properly vetted or the taxes that she imposed on oil companies, but the results were similar. Palin just doesn’t seem to get an even break, let alone the extremely protective news coverage offered Obama.

Groups such as FactCheck.org have helped put down many false rumors on everything from Palin supposedly cutting funds for special needs children to banning books, but the coverage that corrects these false claims never seems to be as heavy as the coverage making the claims to begin with.

Possibly there is a good explanation for why the media so selectively covers the two campaigns so differently. But whatever the reasons, Sarah Palin continues to receive significantly less positive coverage than the Democrats.

The Media is making sure that McCain/Palin wins the largest landslide victory in American Presdential History. With rehab and has-been Hollywood persons and the media against you, how can you fail?

McCain/Palin: Obama's 'We Are Fam-Ah-Lee' Smoking Gun Moment Sung by Mr. Mudd to Congressional; Black Caucus in 2005

Obama should do a cover of Mel Carter's great 1965 thigh tingler 'Hold Me, Hold Me, Never Let Me Go!' But first a real hit dug from our vaults by Fannie Mae CEO and crooner, David Mudd! This chart buster was hit in the Congressional Black Caucus and also the Democratic Progressive Caucus! Sing, You Sinner, Sing!

Like Tony Rezko singing arias to the Feds and Gov. Rod 'Elvis' Blagojevich singing and whistling past the graveyard on Ethics Reform in Illinois, David Mudd the Fannie Mae Box of Chocolates croons this bon-bon:

'We Are Fam Uh Lee!'

Good morning members of the Congressional Black Caucus. I am humbled to come here today to reaffirm the friendship and partnership between Fannie Mae and the Congressional Black Caucus. Fannie Mae is determined to keep tearing down the barriers to deliver on the American dream and that means we need to work together with the CBC. So many of you have been good friends to Fannie Mae and our mission. You've been friends through thick and thin. We have indeed come upon a difficult time for Fannie Mae. There is much to be done inside my company and I humbly ask you to help us and to help me. If there are areas where we are missing. If there are areas where we could do better, we'd like to hear it from our friends and I'd be so bold as to say our family first. ( Emphasis Me own!)
It is true that Fannie Mae has lent more money to more minorities and more underserved individuals than any single company in history.

We will work hard inside our company to resolve the serious matters before us to put our house in order and to forge a new future. And all the while you will see Fannie Mae reaching out and listening to the caucus. Over a century of endeavor you have earned the reputation as the conscience of Congress. In many ways I want to tell you today you are also the conscience of Fannie Mae. Keeping us on course to serve those who need serving the most.

Singing that Dusky from 2005,Fannie Mae CEO Danny Mudd!

Let's see.

McCain/Palin: Obama Votes 'Present' on Economy; McCain Acts & Stocks Surge

John McCain took the bold step to push for RCT-2.0 - Resolution Trust Corp. and things happened to actually do something - The DOW jumped 400+ Points. He also called for the immediate 'firing' of SEC Chair Cox.

Senator Obama asked voters to do his job for him 'You can fire them all' or some such
Fighting Bob La Follette nonsense. Joe Biden called for Patriotic Taxes.

Steve Huntley of Chicago Sun Times put things into clear perspective:

Bad economic news favors the Democrats, and this week's news took some steam out of the GOP campaign. But it was McCain, not Obama, who seized the initiative in proposing a long-term solution. He called for creation of an agency like the Resolution Trust Corporation that resolved the savings and loan crisis of the 1980s by assuming and later selling the bad loans. McCain's Mortgage and Financial Institutions Trust would take a similar approach to today's debt.

McCain will flesh out his idea today. When word reached Wall Street that the Bush administration was considering a similar idea, stocks surged 400 points.

It seems like a moderate, reasoned approach. Interestingly enough, a Rasmussen poll finds more Americans worried that the government will do too much tinkering with the economy rather than not enough. That shows support for the GOP philosophy of a lighter hand on the economy.

Unfortunately for Obama, while McCain pushed a new idea, Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden was talking about tax increases. A struggling economy is the wrong time to raise taxes, as Obama seemed to acknowledge in an ABC interview Sunday. But if that's his new thinking, Biden apparently didn't get the message.

Change is Coming!

McCain/Palin: McCain Econo Whiz - RTC 2.0 - Dow Jumps 400 pts.

CNN News Gnomes and Wooded Glade Creature Paul Begala mocked John McCain on the night of Sepetmber 16. 'Oh a Commission! What's Next a blue Ribbon Panel,!' the jerque chirped!

Yep, a Commission mocked by Kid Hope, the bloated Bathtub Boy Olbermann, Butch Maddow and sylphlike Paul Begala.

Here's a note from National Review's Jim Geraghty:

HORSERACE, JOHN MCCAIN

The Markets Overrule My Skepticism on RTC 2.0

The markets disagree with my assessment of RTC 2.0, to the tune of more than 400 points in the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

All of this comes from a CNBC report that Treasury Secretary Paulson is going to sign off on a proposal for an RTC-like entity, one that John McCain was calling for a few hours ago. All of this conspires to make the GOP nominee look pretty smart. Two days ago, Obama said the proposal was "premature." Smart guy that I am, I was urging the candidates to say, "no."
( Emphasis my own)

Now, Here's the Chorus! Roar out and kick the shins of them's not Singin'!!!

Singing rightful too-ra-laddie too-ra-lee
There is no one who can tell a lie like me
You can search until you tire, you won’t find a bigger liar
I’ve been lying since the dawn of history

I saw Eve go pickin’ apples off a tree
She came over and she offered one to me
I turned and said, “Dear madam, go try your luck with Adam
I’m going home to have some fish and chips and tea.”

I saw Delilah cuttin’ Samson’s hair
She snipped away until his head was bare
When he couldn’t run away, she married him next day
And they opened a barber shop in Clare

With King Billy at the Boyne I heard them call
On his followers to follow till they fall
Then he said, “We’ll win quite easy, and we’ll canonize, young Paisley.”
Then he up and sang a verse of Derry’s Walls

It was Election 2008 I met them all
There was Ayers, Wright, Pfleger at De Paul
Then one day I nearly fainted, I was having my house painted
There was Palin hanging paper in the hall

US Presidential hopeful Barack Obama can now count himself as one of the millions of Americans with Irish heritage.

Research by the genealogy website ancestry.co.uk reveals that Mr Obama's great great great grandfather was born in Ireland, although it is not yet known where.

Falmouth Kearney sailed from Ireland to New York in 1850 at the age of 19 on the S.S. Marmion arriving on the 20th of March.

AdvertisementHe initially settled in Ohio, got married, had eight children, and later moved to Indiana, right next door to the state Obama currently represents in the US Senate.

Mr Keaney was part of the great American migration to escape the 1840s potato famine in Ireland.

Mr Obama's father was from Kenya, while his mother grew up in Kansas.

'A great deal has been made of Obama's Kenyan roots, however his European ancestry has until now been overlooked', said Ancestry.co.uk Managing Director Simon Harper.

If Mr Obama gets elected, he would be the first multiracial US president in history - and join a long list of those with Irish ancestry including Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, and of course, John F. Kennedy.

Ronald Reagan's great-grandfather, Michael O'Reagan, was born in Ireland in the 1820s. John F Kennedy's great-grandfather Patrick Kennedy came from Dunganstown, Co Wexford, while Bill Clinton's maternal ancestors are said to have come from Co Fermanagh.

McCain/Palin: Obama V - We Few. . .We Happy Few . . Now, That's Elite! Again Court Speech on November 4th! I Lose; WE Sue!

Howard Dean. O that we now had here
But one ten thousand of those men in England
That do no work to-day, because we have tanked in the polls since Columbus Day!

Barack Obama V. What's he that wishes so?
My Chairman Dean? No, my fair Chairman;
If we are mark'd to try, we are enow
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour - we just file with the ACLU and go WIG on the Tube!
MSNBCs will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Rove, I am not covetous for gold - we got millions!
Nor care I . . ' let me be clear . . . Um, who doth feed upon my ACORN;
It yearns me not if men my SEIU did not register;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires - that's the pitch.
But if it be a sin to covet honour, Where's the Teleprompter?
I am the most offending soul alive - Man I want this Gig!
No, faith, my Chair, wish not a man from England er, Germany.
God's peace! I would not lose so great an election
Because we have tossed the Race Card and Michigan is in play
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Howard Dean, through my host Barbra Steisand,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made,
And crowns for convoy put into his purse;
We would not die in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.
This day is call'd the feast of St. Charles Borromeo* ( November 4th) by all them racist Catholics.
He/she/it that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam'd,
And rouse him at the name of Borromeo.
He/she that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Charles Borromeo.'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say 'These wounds I had on Election day - a hanging chad got me.'
Old men forget; Joe? Joe Biden! Get over here, You are not Sick and No Hillary is not taking your place! yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember, with advantages ( he made some great contacts and Blackberry swag,
What feets he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words-
Barack the Hope, Biden and Wexler,
Olbermann and Maddow, Wright and Ayers-
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.
This story shall the good gender non-specfic will teach their adopted son;
And Barack Borromeo shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we elite;
For he to-day that votes with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so white,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed because there is that six hour time difference
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That vote for me Saint Charles Borromeo's day.
Cry Present and Let Slip the Dogs of Woe!

St. Charles Borromeo

(1538-1584)

The name of St. Charles Borromeo is associated with reform. He lived during the time of the Protestant Reformation, and had a hand in the reform of the whole Church during the final years of the Council of Trent.
Although he belonged to a noble Milanese family and was related to the powerful Medici family, he desired to devote himself to the Church. When his uncle, Cardinal de Medici, was elected pope in 1559 as Pius IV, he made Charles cardinal-deacon and administrator of the Archdiocese of Milan while he was still a layman and a young student. Because of his intellectual qualities he was entrusted with several important offices connected with the Vatican and later appointed secretary of state with full charge of the administration of the papal states. The untimely death of his elder brother brought Charles to a definite decision to be ordained a priest, despite relatives’ insistence that he marry. He was ordained a priest at the age of 25, and soon afterward he was consecrated bishop of Milan.

Because of his work at the Council of Trent he was not allowed to take up residence in Milan until the Council was over. Charles had encouraged the pope to renew the Council in 1562 after it had been suspended 10 years before. Working behind the scenes, St. Charles deserves the credit for keeping the Council in session when at several points it was on the verge of breaking up. He took upon himself the task of the entire correspondence during the final phase.

Eventually Charles was allowed to devote his time to the Archdiocese of Milan, where the religious and moral picture was far from bright. The reform needed in every phase of Catholic life among both clergy and laity was initiated at the provincial council of all his suffragan bishops. Specific regulations were drawn up for bishops and other clergy: If the people were to be converted to a better life, these had to be the first to give a good example and renew their apostolic spirit.

Charles took the initiative in giving good example. He allotted most of his income to charity, forbade himself all luxury and imposed severe penances upon himself. He sacrificed wealth, high honors, esteem and influence to become poor. During the plague and famine of 1576 he tried to feed 60,000 to 70,000 people daily. To do this he borrowed large sums of money that required years to repay. When the civil authorities fled at the height of the plague, he stayed in the city, where he ministered to the sick and the dying, helping those in want.

Work and the heavy burdens of his high office began to affect his health. He died at the age of 46.

Comment:

St. Charles made his own the words of Christ: "...I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me" (Matthew 25:35-36). Charles saw Christ in his neighbor and knew that charity done for the least of his flock was charity done for Christ.

Quote:
"Christ summons the Church, as she goes her pilgrim way, to that continual reformation of which she always has need, insofar as she is an institution of men here on earth. Consequently, if, in various times and circumstances, there have been deficiencies in moral conduct or in Church discipline, or even in the way that Church teaching has been formulated—to be carefully distinguished from the deposit of faith itself—these should be set right at the opportune moment and in the proper way" (Decree on Ecumenism, 6, Austin Flannery translation).

McCain/Palin: The Race for Stupid - Jack Cafferty Sprints Past MSNBC - 'Its All Racism, I Tells Ya! Where's My Car?''

The Race does not always go to the swiftest - Jack Cafferty is Living Proof. Race is the Place with Helpful Hard-Bore Man! It is not all Race, Jack! What about Gay/Lesbian/Transgender/ and Sexual Predator Issues? Look at what's going on in Oregon! Jack it is a Rainbow of Self-Interest and Victimhood Issues! Remember, Jack, it is not all about black and white! What about Red, Brown, Yellow and Chartreuse (dry drunks of America)?

Remember, Jack Cafferty? Me either. He's on CNN, I guess. I never watch it. Wolf Blitzer creeps me out worse than the Burger King and Ronald McDonald -get night terrors. All of a sudden Jack Cafferty is Drudge Worthy by using the Race Card! Get noticed -Cry Race!

In the Race for the White House Race is the Only Card to Play!

From CNN's Jack Cafferty

Will race be the factor that keeps Obama from the White House?
Race is arguably the biggest issue in this election, and it's one that nobody's talking about.

The differences between Barack Obama and John McCain couldn't be more well-defined. Obama wants to change Washington. McCain is a part of Washington and a part of the Bush legacy. Yet the polls remain close. Doesn't make sense…unless it's race.

Time magazine's Michael Grunwald says race is the elephant in the room. He says Barack Obama needs to tread lightly as he fights back against the McCain-Palin campaign attacks.

When MSNBC-The Tool Shed seemed to have the lock on stupid, Jack Cafferty vaulted high over the bar! Jack, stop by Keegan's Pub! The economy, kids from the neighborhood in Iraq and Afghanistan, redistribution of wealth scams being touted by the DNC, Catholic school tuition rising along with more taxes for public school idiot mills, abortion, and no newspapers to read, really has the gang down-in-the-mouth. Pop in for a few on me and give out with some stupidity, it will do wonders for some great, but hurting middle class Americans. Heck, maybe you can get a Race Riot Going!

McCain/Palin: If Sarah Palin Only Ran a Failed Bait-Shop, I'd Still Vote For Her, Because of Who Is Against Her - The Chicago Contrarian Way!

If you want to know who you are and how you are doing in life, take a look at who is with you!

You might also get a pretty good gauge from who is against you.

Based upon this very unscientific methodology, one might make some pretty good choices. The fact that Bill Ayers thinks McCain/Palin is evil pretty much tosses the pair into the Holy Water font. Planned Parenthood, never missing any opportunity to snuff some babies in the most NPR snuggish of manners, thinks Obama is refreshing and that has me lighting scented candles in response.

When the blind guy getting coffee at Kean Gas told me, 'Hey Hickey, nice suit!' the acknowledging smile faded from my close-shaved but manly visage - he's right checked slacks and pin-stripped coat, Hmmmmm.

Here's who hates Sarah Palin -

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson, to the internet to air their thoughts on John McCain's running mate and the revelation that Palin's unmarried 17-year-old daughter is pregnant.

And they write "in the words of Pamela Anderson, 'She can suck it'...

The pair start their rant:

"I really cannot bite my tongue anymore when it comes to Sarah Palin.

I couldn't be more supportive of a woman in office, but let's face it, it comes down to the person, and their beliefs, male or female.

Is it a sin to be gay? Should it be a sin to be straight? Or to use birth control? Or to have sex before marriage? Or even to have a child out of wedlock?"

Pink had earlier had a go at Palin, telling PopEater: "If I were writing a letter to Sarah Palin it would be a lot of whys and hows. Who are you? Do you know? Why do you hate animals? Please point out Iraq on a map."

She continued: "This woman hates women. She is not a feminist. She is not the woman that's going to come behind Hillary Clinton and do anything that Hillary Clinton would've been capable of.... I can't imagine overturning Roe vs. Wade. She's not of this time. The woman terrifies me."

Matt Damon has also joined the celebrity chorus against Palin, telling CBS News: “I think there’s a really good chance that Sarah Palin could be president, and I think that’s a really scary thing, because I don’t know anything about her and I don’t think in 8 weeks I’ll know anything about her. I know she’s the mayor of really, really small town,” Damon adds, “and she’s governor of Alaska for less than two years. I think the pick was made for political purposes, but in terms of governance it’s a disaster.”

One butt-head, Chevy Chase, wants her 'devastated!'

Yeah! When your career tanks, demand the death of the mother of five! What a guy!

Decimated means the death of every tenth person - them drugs must be high powerful out there - Chevy sees Ten Sarah Palins - I wish.

I like Sarah Palin. You don't like her; don't vote for her. You run in great company with some great people - or happen to be VH1, MTV, E-channel addict. If all Sarah Palin's experience amounted to running a failed bait-shop in Custer Park, IL, I'd still vote for her - look at who hates her.

McCain/Palin: William Ayers Sings 'Gimme Shelter!'

William Ayers - Billy Ayers - Billy 'The Bomber' Ayers - the whack-a-mole of Barack Obama's shady past pops up all the time. Camp Obama is using its cadre of really concerned Obama partisans to shout down critics of the Agent of Change.

WGN Radio's distinguished and thoughtful Dr. Milt Rosenberg's Extension 720 has twice been assaulted by nuisance callers attempting to drown out inquiry of Senator Obama's 'White-Out' relationship with domestic terrorist Billy Ayers.

People want to know exactly what that relationship says about Obama's judgment and agenda for America - especially with regard to public education. Ayers is no friend of America - read his blog.

Chicago newspapers with exception of Sun Times investigative journalist Tim Novak and Chicago Tribune's John Kass seem perfectly willing to dismiss any and all inquiry where Obama, Ayers, Wright, Rezko, Davis, Dohrn, or any number of radical leftists are concerned. WGN is part of the Tribune Empire - therefore:

Obama's campaign says supporters have placed thousands of phone calls to TV and radio stations and sent even more letters to newspapers.

A page on the campaign's Web site, headlined "Hit 'em where it hurts," told supporters how to complain to advertisers at stations that ran a recent anti-Obama ad.

"We'll provide you with talking points on this maliciously false hit ad to help guide you through the process," the page said, citing a spot run by a conservative group called the American Issues Project.

The campaign says supporters sent roughly 100,000 e-mails in August to stations that aired the ad, which criticized Obama for his ties to former 1960s radical William Ayers.

WGN also was flooded with calls and e-mails shortly before and during an Aug. 27 interview with Stanley Kurtz, a conservative writer who has examined Obama's ties to Ayers.

"WGN radio is giving right-wing hatchet man Stanley Kurtz a forum to air his baseless, fear-mongering terrorist smears," read the first message confronting the station, an e-mail that also provided detailed background information on Kurtz, Obama and Ayers.

The WGN alerts were sent primarily to Obama supporters in the Chicago area but were quickly posted to electronic message boards and Web sites, spreading them worldwide. Many of those who called to complain were from outside Illinois, and they flooded the station's switchboard in a way a WGN producer called "unprecedented."

On Monday night, Zack Christenson, executive producer of "Extension 720 with Milt Rosenberg," said the response was about the same. "It's just constant, constant phone calls, and the e-mails are pouring in," he said, adding that the extra volume of calls made it more difficult to run the show.

Obama's campaign describes the system as a grass-roots truth squad that arms supporters with information. But others see an attempt to stifle free speech.

"If Barack Obama demonstrates this little regard for free speech from his opponents during the campaign, what could the American people expect from him as a president?" Ed Martin, president of American Issues Project, said in a statement.

Christian Pinkston, the group's spokesman, said Martin was referring to legal threats by Obama's campaign about the ad. He said the counterattack has only heightened the profile of the group, which "soon" plans to run more ads.

"It's worth noting that for all the shouting from the campaign, not one single television station pulled the ad," Pinkston said. "It may have been good for their fundraisings efforts, but it had no impact whatsoever on our efforts."

The sole financier of the group's ads, Texas billionaire Harold Simmons, was also a major contributor to the Swift Boat group that attacked Kerry.

Fox News and CNN declined to run the ad. Still, the group says it ran more than 7,300 times in markets that covered Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia, at a cost of $2.8 million.

Another use of Obama's Action Wire came earlier in August, when a controversial book called "The Obama Nation" was released.

The book by Jerome Corsi, who wrote one in 2004 that launched an attack on Kerry, paints Obama as a stealth radical liberal who has tried to cover up his "extensive connections to Islam." The alert about the Corsi book asked supporters to share an e-mail critical of the text with friends and family.

Bruce Gronbeck, a University of Iowa professor who studies political communications, said protests against television and radio stations are fair game in a presidential campaign.

"The media are players in the process," he said. "If they are a player, the parties are certainly going to try to hold them accountable."

Careful inquiry to the nature, depth, substance, and length of Senator Obama's relationship to domestic terrorist Billy Ayers is no distraction - it is a public service obligation and Chicago's media is running away from its duty.

McCain/Palin: Want more Obama/Rezko/Jones? Get Sun Times to take the chains off of Tim Novak!

Obama has two little girls at home dying for a puppy, when he has this kennel of news poodles at the Sun Times! Not Fair!

Speaking of not fair! Toss Carol a dog Yummy! Sneed!! Sit up!

The only pit bull on the Chicago Sun Times is Tim Novak. Click my post title for a litany of Novak stories dug up out of the dirt and the dust shovelled on the truth by Obama's shills, Daley's stooges, Medill's meatheads, Ayers acolytes, and Rezko's raiders.

When little Curtis Cooper was crushed by rusty iron gate on mismanaged former CHA property, Young Cullen Davis ( Son of Allison Davis Obama's Law Boss), all fat and sassy, came to the light of day only because of Tim Novak.

Tim Novak is the real deal. When Obama had the the editorial board of the Sun Times - Sit Up! Beg! Roll-Over!!! Fetch! for him, Tim Novak was doing a newsman's job.

Free Tim Novak! Get Some News!

McCain/Palin: My Progressive Poster Seth Pie-Gallon: 'Tom Hayden Cares, People!'

Hickey is taking the day off - he should take his life off. I'm Seth Pie-Gallon*.

Today I want to explain - let me be as clear as possible and go as slow as I can for you grass cutters, who do not seem to be bothered that Iraq is an occupation by European Crusaders who believe that God wants them to kill Muslims, or that millions of obese Americans go to bed hungry in food deserts created by the same CIA/Halliburton Gang of Cheney that blew the levees in Katrina,Louisiana and Twin Towers, New York. Sarah Palin is evil, Man! The issues are clear and all Grampa McSame and his Eskimo Pie offer is Bush 44.

Read this from Tom Hayden - he really cares. This is why:

1.Sarah Palin is a mortal threat to the possibility of Obama winning. The reason is simple: if she can add a couple of points to McCain from defecting white women and the newly-energized right wing religious base without losing more independent votes, McCain pulls ahead in some key states.

The dangerous tendency of the Obama campaign and its Democratic surrogates is to not fight back, but treat Palin as a “distraction” from McCain, the economy, the issues they feel familiar with, etc.

If they assume that the Palin bubble will return to earth naturally, or that the mainstream media and Saturday Night Live will do the job for them, the Obama campaign is mistaken.

There needs to be a controlled message that treats Palin as an extension of McCain, not a bobble-head to be laughed at.

The message has to cut off independent and women’s support for McCain-Palin and, if possible, divide some of the right-wingers. Not an easy task.

Perhaps the point is that we’ve already suffered eight years under a president Bush and vice-president Cheney who were, in Palin’s words, so “wired in a way to be committed to the mission” that they could neither blink nor think.

An excellent editorial in Sunday’s NY Times makes the connection from McCain to Palin in terms that will reach independent and moderate voters. It should be quoted and widely circulated. The choice of an unqualified candidate to be a heartbeat from the presidency of a 72 year old man with four melanomas “was shockingly irresponsible”, the Times said.

I think we can see in McCain-Palin a kind of faith-based extremism that reminds us of Bush and, even more, the persona of Gen. Custer.

We have seen where righteous faith-based politics goes in the Supreme Court decisions, corruption scandals, the official lies, and the unnecessary wars of the past eight years, all carried out in the name of what both McCain and Palin now call “God’s plan.”

We should say, In the name of God, stop them!

2. The McCain-Palin foreign policy is a mortal threat from the same neoconservatives who brought us Iraq wrapped in lies. We cannot give the Republicans an advantage with their false clams of “victory in sight.” We have to emphasize the three-trillion dollar cost of the war, and we have to connect the war to the price of oil. Democratic consultants should stop compartmentalizing the economy like it was 1992 all over again.

This is apparently not the advice of the biggest Democratic heavyweights like Bill Clinton and James Carville who tend to revert to “it’s the economy, stupid.” But it’s not 1992. It’s the 9/11 era, the Iraq War era, the War on Terrorism era – and also the middle of the worse economic and energy crisis in memory. The issues are tied together. Not enough people will vote on “lunch bucket” issues if they think McCain-Palin will protect them from terrorists, but they might vote against McCain-Palin if they think they are being lied to again.

The war is not being won. That’s why Petraeus wants to keep 140,000 troops in Iraq. We are paying 100,000 Iraqis not to shoot and bomb us – for now. Iraq is a time bomb with a timer set to go off next year after the November election. It costs $324 million a day, three trillion in the long run, that could be spent on public works, health care and education now. It deepens our dependency on oil when we should be spending the money to weatherize our buildings, conserve our energy and throw ourselves into a new clean energy economy with the same focus it took to get to the moon. That’s the mission we need to be wired into…

Under McCain-Palin, the same neo-conservatives who fabricated the pretext for invading Iraq will only take us into more quagmires – Afghanistan, Pakistan, Georgia, maybe Iran - that will bleed our troops and our economy without an end in sight.

Palin's brazen neocon advisers repeated the original Iraq lie – that Saddam was behind 9/11 - in the scripted speech she gave to her son’s troops as they departed for the war zone: “You’ll be there to defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the deaths of thousands of Americans.” [NYT, Sept. 14]

Bush-Cheney obviously are trying to scare enough voters into supporting McCain-Palin amidst a rising national security crisis. The Democrats and the media are helping them by accepting Georgia’s triggering attack on Russia as legitimate, which surely was orchestrated with the knowledge of McCain’s top foreign policy adviser, the same neo-con who directed the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq from Washington lobby to actual invasion force. They further hope to bring back bin Ladin’s head from Pakistan before November. Bush-McCain may get the scalp of bin Ladin but they are on Custer’s path to Little Big Horn.

So the clear promise of McCain-Palin is there will be blood. The fact that they scoff at Obama at the mere mention of diplomacy [despite their own talking to Russia, Iran, etc] presents an opening to describe them as what they are: extremists in the tradition of Bush-Cheney for whom war seems to be a first option. McCain was there on an aircraft carrier screaming “Next stop, Baghdad!” in 2002 as if it was Vietnam in 1967. Palin says she’s wired to win the war without blinking. That’s also why McCain on two occasions this year has spoken favorably of resuming the compulsory military draft. Independents and young first-time voters should pay attention to these issues.

The peace movement which provided the platform that made Obama’s candidacy possible in 2002 cannot afford to let that advantage be squandered by Democrats this fall. The upcoming September 20 Million Doors for Peace campaign is a good way to begin spreading the word.

McCain/Palin: As Go(ing)es New York, Can Go Illinois

Ed Morrisey of HotAir points to BAw-Bwa Stwey Sand singing from a tugboat to the fishes in New York Harbor just like in Funny Girl -'Dont Wain on My Pah WaYade!' Babs the numbers is thumpin' Obama in New Yawk! The HAWKEY MAWM had something to do with it but so did the over sized suit hanging on the Junior Senator from Illinois.

If Obama loses his grip on New York, he can’t possibly win the election. If he has to sink a large amount of money in New York, he’ll have to take it from his efforts in battleground states, and he’ll have to cut his face time in places like Michigan, Ohio, Colorado, and Minnesota. That’s a recipe for defeat, both financially and electorally.
Just a week ago, his campaign shrugged off the national polls by asserting that the state polls were what counted. As this shows, the national polls provide a pretty good barometer about what one can expect in the states. If New York becomes a toss-up, Obama can kiss his White House aspirations good-bye.

Dang! Sounds like that'll play the same way in Decatur, Springfield, Joliet and yes -MSNBC - Peoria!
Similarly, Illinois may disappoint the Junior Senator as well.

McCain/Palin - McCain Leading Obama Comes Swinging Out of His Corner!

Having taken swings at Sarah Palin ( all misses) for two weeks, Camp Obama has come out swinging at John McCain like a saloon door on payday.

In a sign he is sharpening his own sword, Obama released an ad and circulated a memo yesterday slamming McCain for hiring a longtime lobbyist to run his possible transition team.

“His campaign is run by lobbyists. Now we find out McCain’s White House will be lobbyist-run too,” the ad says. “Does that sound like change to you?”

Meanwhile, the Obama campaign gleefully seized on Rove’s remarks, releasing a statement saying: “In case anyone was still wondering whether John McCain is running the sleaziest, most dishonest campaign in history, today Karl Rove, the man who held the previous record, said McCain’s ads have gone too far.”

He's Bobbin'! He's Swingin'! He's Dancin'! The Fans is Screamin'!

Lotta Rounds left. Try and land a good one!

McCain/Palin: Mary Mitchell Proclaims Herself A 'Sick -Hater' - Steve Huntley - The Last Person Writing

The hamster on Mary Mitchell's brain wheel jumped off years ago. She is proving to be a metaphor of print journalism's willingness to favor the equivalent of cock fighting over opera.

Mary Mitchell spews this about Governor Sarah Palin with her usual 'nuanced' approach to writing:

Sarah Palin makes me sick. I hate that she was able to steal Barack Obama's mojo just by showing up wearing rimless glasses and a skirt.

I hate that she makes Joe Biden look like John McCain and John McCain look like the maverick he is not.

It plummets from there and mocks Biden's own childhood affliction:

I hate that Palin reminds me of Susan Sarandon's feisty character in "Thelma & Louise." I loved Sarandon in that movie, yet I couldn't stand Palin's feistiness at the Republican National Convention.

Sarah Palin makes me sick -- not because she may speak in tongues -- but because she is a fast talker.

Not even ABC's Charlie Gibson can slow Palin's mouth.

I disagree with the people who claim Gibson caught her off guard during her interview when he asked her whether she agreed with the "Bush Doctrine."

"In what respect?" Palin fired back without so much as a stutter.
Jesus, Biden's gotta love that! No matter to Mary - Joe Biden is a white devil who deserves a good old machete marinade like Bob Mugabe's lads dish-out. That is Mary Mitchell's America! The Sun Times is Okay with it as well.

The Chicago Sun Times values Mary Mitchell in the same way that a Carnival Barker values the acephales, freaks without a complete head system or having no part of the body specially organized as a head. Mary Mitchell gives out race-hate, conspiracy myths, and self-improvement tips from her brushes with the law.

She is sick and she hates - see Mary's words above - now that is nuance!

Steve Huntley* is the only opinion left at the Sun Times. Unlike Marins, girl's dish-lunch-confab-assortment tosses, Steve Huntley goes to work.

Mary Mitchell's Sideshow will pave the Sun Times strut to oblivion.

As McCain's campaign has grown sharper, Obama's has tended to flay about. It has not figured out how to handle McCain's dazzling choice of Sarah Palin. Obama focused on her term as a small-town mayor and ignored her work as governor of Alaska. He came off as belittling a woman's accomplishments while reminding voters of his dismissive remarks about small-town people that damaged him with working-class Americans.

His camp tried to play the abortion card, saying Palin's pro-life belief is unattractive to women. Yet as governor, she never pushed that cause. And, as a woman who balances the responsibilities of elective office and motherhood, Palin's story resonates with women of all political persuasions. Democratic operatives and media friends piled on by questioning her ability to balance both responsibilities, reminding women of the sexism they saw plaguing Clinton's campaign -- sexism coming from, of all places, the liberal heart of American politics. You've got to wonder if Obama regrets not making Clinton his vice presidential nominee.

Democrats who gleefully jumped on McCain when he misspoke, as in seeming to confuse the Sunni and Shia factions in Iraq, must have been stunned when their man had his own misspoken moment -- Obama's referring to "my Muslim faith" in a TV interview. He is a Christian but, because of the Islamic background of his father, has had to fend off rumors about his faith.

A long campaign remains to be waged, with debates, speeches, unguarded moments and chances for embarrassing slip-ups and brilliant political strokes. McCain's folks may be riding high now and Obama's camp at sixes and sevens, but the dynamics still favor the Democrats. Yet, this race is up for grabs, and that's a far cry from June, when Democrats, and not a few Republicans, thought Obama had it all but sewn up.

McCain/Palin: Progressive Anthem Sing Along with Fred Blassie!

What are all you kids doing up so early on a Saturday? Okay, okay I'll post the music. Sarah Palin has no doubt bagged moose, cooked breakfast, and worked on her upcoming chin-wags with the meatheads of the media. I have been working on an epic poem dedicated to the U.S. coins (now out of circulation) struck in honor of American women who hate men - hell, so do I!

Click My Post Title for the air to the American Progressive Anthem (Pencil Neck Geek by American Poet/Wrestler/Patriot Fred Blassie)- Sing Along and Sing in throng! I tear up and choke with manly emotion everytime I hear this stirring and accurate tribute of American Progressives - men in size 7 1/2" Shirt Collars and Gals who look like they could skate on the Roller-Derby circuit!

Ballad of the Progressive ( by Fred Blassie)
Till something happened, blew every thing to hell.
That night my daddy stumbled in, all pale and weak,
Said, "A woman up the block just gave birth to a geek."

Mom said, "Sell it to the circus, what the heck."
Dad said, "Nope, this one's a pencil neck.
And if there's one thing lower than a side show freak,
It's a grit eatin', scum suckin', pencil neck geek."

You see if you take a pencil that won't hold lead,
Looks like a pipe cleaner attached to a head,
Add a buggy whip body with a brain that leaks,
You got yourself a grit eatin', pencil neck geek.

(chorus)
Pencil neck geek, grit eatin' freak,
scum suckin', pea head with a lousy physique.
He's a one man, no gut, losing streak.
Nothin' but a pencil neck geek.

Soon the geeks were poppin' up all over town.
You couldn't hardly sneeze without knockin' one down.
After a nice juicy steak, if you need a toothpick,
Just reach for a geek, they'll do the trick.

One day we cut one up for fish bait.
Learned our lesson just a little bit late.
Soon as the geek hit the drink, the water turned red.
Next day, sure enough, all the fish were dead.

chorus

Most any night you know where I can be found.
Yeah, stomping some geek's head into the ground.
So keep the faith, 'cause in Blassie you can trust,
I won't give up 'til the last geek bites the dust.

chorus

They say these geeks come a dime a dozen.
I'm lookin' for the guy who's supplyin' the dimes.
Its gonna be real hard times for all of these
grit eatin',
scum suckin',
boot lickin',
drop kickin',
gut grindin',
nail bitin',
glue sniffin',
scab pickin',
butt scratchin',
egg hatchin',
sleazy,
smelly,
pepper bellied,
dirty, lousy, rotten, stinkin', freaks.
Nothing but a pencil neck geek.

Pencil neck geek.
Pencil neck geek.
Pencil neck geek.

McCain/Palin: Eric Zorn's EZ Guide to Why Progressives Are Such Pencil Neck Geeks! - Palin Talks Funny!

Hot on the heals of Joan Walsh's Salon piece that attempts to imply that Governor Sarah Palin pronounced 'Nuclear' as 'Nucular' Chicago Tribune's Size 7 1/2" Collar and Original Thinker Eric Zorn* gets hot under his tiny suburban collar!

In her first tough TV interview, GOP veepee nominee Sarah Palin several times referred to "nucular" weapons instead of "nuclear" weapons.

We fussy people cringe at this the way we cringe when we hear people say "ek-setera" and "liberry."
( Intrusive Narrator Hickey" Kick 'em in the Nuts! Gouge out their Eyes! Harrumph!) . . .
But at least three former U.S. Presidents -- Dwight Eisenhower, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton -- said "nucular" from time to time, and, of course, "nucular" has become virtually a trademark for George W. Bush. ( Intrusive Narrator - Note Eric's uses of The Progressive Smarm or the Ass Kicking Insurance)

Language experts tell us the reason "nucular" seems right to many speakers (and has even become an accepted pronunciation due to how common it's become) is that hundreds of English words end in "yoo-lar" --vascular, molecular, jocular and so on -- while very few end in the "lee-ar" -- cochlear and nuclear may be about it.

Is this a big deal? Obviously not. But Sarah Palin's handlers seemed to have thought so: In the script of her speech to the Republican convention, they spelled out the word phonetically for her: ( Instrusive Narrator: Did Michael Sneed write this last? Hmmmm? Lift 'Em? Print 'Em! Cash 'Em)

We're going to lay more pipelines {and] build more new-clear plants...Terrorist states are seeking new-clear weapons
Oh, Mercies Abounding! Did she Rah-lley Say That? Kewl - She So Whit Trosh! Murial Clair! That's So Not Kewl!'
Yep, and Progressives wonder why they can not get a like-minded fuss-budget elected anywhere more than 300 yards West of Lake Michigan.

Eric, my pencil necked pal, Governor Palin also pronounces herself to be a HAWKEY MAWM!

Eric, no one of the thousands of people in my neighborhood( Morgan Park/Beverly/Mt. Greenwood,TN) own a 'living room' - they all invite one another into THE FrunChroom. ' Tess, where's your Old Man?'
'In The Frunchroom layin' on the floor in his shorts watching the Sox at Comiskey ( Joan Cusack notwithstanding!).

Kids leave their bikes in the Gangway. A greenscape is a PRAYER-EE. Baptist, Jewish, Muslim and Atheist kids from Sutherland or Clissold Public schools will tell auslanders and reporters that they live in St. Barnabas, Caj-Uh Tens ( St. Cajetan) er Fisher ( St. John Fisher).

Eric we embrace diversity. Why is it that Progressives mock the richness and cultural rainbow that is our Global Village? Really. Eric Zorn and your sock-puppets really nail Governor Palin on the Issues!

Sarah Palin talks funny and has a Downs Syndrome Baby that she did not Abort. Sic her, Cupcake!

Hey, give Joanie Walsh of Salon her props. She called out Sarah Palin for all of you Original Thinkers!

McCain/Palin: Steve Rhodes at NBC's Division Street Blog Restores Chicago Reporting!

That's Steve Rhodes -editor of Beachwood Reporter and NBC-Division Street casting pearls to swine -wearing lipstick and without!

Steve Rhodes is editor of the great Media Watch Blog The Beachwood Reporter

Steve Rhodes also manages NBC's Division Street Blog which tends to treat readres better than most Chicago newspaper political columnists.

Mr. Rhodes and I rarely, if ever, agree on things political. However, we agree that most politicians and political commentators are encrusted with equine effluvia -horse shit. Daley ( not John Daley whatsoever), Blago, Stroger, Quigley, Claypool, Shakowsky, Lipinski, and - my fingers are cramping - others are like a tribe of New Guinea spearmen encrusted with fecal matter. Like wise political pundits -print and public - have layers of horse shit abounding: Marin, Brown, Dold, Chapman, Greeley, Mitchell &etc.

Today, Steve Rhodes save Chicago journlism at Division Street:

Was Alaska Governor Sarah Palin really plucked from “relative obscurity” to run on John McCain’s ticket? Should a politician whom Matt Damon has never heard of be allowed on a national ticket? (Hey, Matt, when did you first hear of Barack Obama? A convention speech?) Is she really lying about the Bridge to Nowhere and her maverick credentials?

I took a spin through the ProQuest database of America’s newspapers and found, in fact, that the coverage of Sarah Palin in real time gibes perfectly with the image she and her allies are presenting. Take an objective journey with me and decide for yourself.

I’ll start with the Chicago dailies just to satisfy local curiosity and then move to the national press and wire services. This collection represents virtually every article returned in my search; I have omitted nothing of consequence or anything that would present a different view.

Sarah Palin in the Chicago Tribune

1. HEADLINE: Governor cancels ‘bridge to nowhere’
DATE: Sept. 22, 2007
EXCERPT: “Gov. Sarah Palin ordered state transportation officials Friday to abandon the “bridge to nowhere” project that became a nationwide symbol of federal pork-barrel spending.”

2. HEADLINE: Here’s the buzz: Sites help you keep up with trends (about google trends)
DATE: Oct. 19, 2007
EXCERPT: You can use buzz trackers to find out what’s making news, a sort of meta version of a news site’s “most e-mailed” list. Why, you may ask, is a “Sarah Palin” showing up on one list? A few clicks and, aha, she’s the get-tough (and photogenic!) Alaska governor getting the national-media spotlight right now.

3. HEADLINE: Alaska governor generates VP buzz
DATE: March 14, 2008
EXCERPT: Gov. Sarah Palin will be the first to admit that it might be a stretch for a hockey mom from Alaska to be considered for the No. 2 spot on Sen. John McCain’s presidential ticket.

But there’s an undeniable national buzz surrounding the first-term governor, seen by many Republicans as a fresh, new face to represent the party’s future.

Palin says she has not spoken to McCain about the prospect. But it came up when she was in Washington two weeks ago for a National Governors Association meeting. She rubbed elbows with others cited as vice-presidential possibilities: Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a Republican, and Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano, a Democrat.

“We all had a meeting with President Bush and he said, ‘Look at all these vice presidents sitting here,’” Palin said.

As for her recent news that she is pregnant with her fifth child, Palin said: “I’m very confident that a pregnant woman should not and doesn’t have to be prohibited from doing anything, including running for vice president.”

Eric Zorn’s Sexist Folly
September 11, 2008 · No Comments
The Tribune columnist today retells the jokes of late-night comics about Sarah Palin without any recognition of how offensive many of them are. For example:

Bill Maher: “I, John McCain, am the only one standing between the blood-thirsty Al Qaeda and you. But if I die, this stewardess can handle it.”

Jimmy Kimmel: “[S]he looks like one of those women in the Van Halen videos who takes off her glasses, shakes out her hair, and then all of a sudden, she’s in high heels and a bikini.”

David Letterman: “[She looks] like the lady in the dental office who gives you the keys to the restroom” and “like the woman in the department store who tries to spray you with perfume.”

Steve Rhodes, who manages and edits of the best Media Watching Blogs The Beachwood Reporter, also runs Chicago NBC's Division Street Blog.

Steve and I rarely agree on politics ( and the Piggies who slurp at its trough), but we agree on depth and fecundity of the equine effluvia tossed by the bulk of politicians and their parasites.

Steve and I agree that a saloon and not a salon is the very best place to hear, injest and disseminate political thought.

Today, Steve Rhodes offers an honest and open assessment of the HAWKEE MAWM from Wassila - with whom I am enchanted. I have no illusions that Sarah Palin would not shoot, geld, and field dress me were it in her political interests; yet, I find her to be free of the horse-shit that encoats Daley ( all but John Daley - he is H/S Free), Blagojevich, Quigley, Claypool, Shakowsky, Stroger, and Durbin. Most political journalists or would be political journalists surpass the professional horse-hit merchants - Zorn, Brown, Dold, Chapman, Greeley, Sweet, Mitchell, and Marin.

Steve Rhodes, Mark Rhoads,Steve Huntley, Levois,Cal Skinner, Bill Baar, John Rubery, Anne Leary, Tom Roeser, Phil Kadner, Kristen McQueary tend to be horse-shit free.

Steve, I'll buy you one the size of Quigley's Ego!

McCain/Palin: Salon -'Insists' - That Readers Agree - The Semiotic Seduction

Joan Walsh, the Gee Whiz Xanthippe of Salon.org 'insists' that readers 'understand' that

1. Gov. Palin is a Stepford Wife Dominatrix

2. Feminism really means something to mothers of America, as well as 'divorced, single-by-choice, or alternative inclination' females.

3. John McCain is a long-legged Mac Daddy

4. Change will only come if everyone does and thinks as Salon -'insists.'

My Aunt Helen used to ladle an extra pint of Dinty Moore Beef stew on my biscuits with an 'I insist!' No argument from this fat-boy Aunt Helen, ladle it on!

I love my Aunt Helen who insisted that I pray to the image of the Sacred Heart and not act like such a little jerk -'all of the time.'

Other people have insisted -'Have shot of Jack.' Pass, that stuff would gag a maggot. Strictly a Smithwicks Man, Noam.'

Other people have insisted that I 'read this op-piece by Noam Chomsky he really understands.' But I do not understand Noam. The guy has the personality of a dial tone.

Some others have insisted that I 'vote for Obama.' I did. Twice. Right here in Illinois. He got creamed by Bobby Rush and won over Allan Keyes!

Now Joan Walsh and her crew 'Insist' that Sarah Palin looks lke 'deer in the headlights ( Dan Quayle -BTW Quayle Won Huge!) and that Charlie Gibson tossed grapefruits at the Governor on ABC last night - saw it Joanie. Gov. did fine.

But Joanie 'insists' upon this doozy:

The fact that Sarah Palin sat for her humiliating interview with ABC's Charles Gibson on 9/11 is one of those strange serendipitous events that makes one believe there's order in the universe. Remember how 9/11 changed everything, especially our new seriousness about the larger world and foreign policy? Never again would we risk a president, maybe not even a senate candidate, without global experience and sophistication.

What a mockery Palin made of all that. I'll get criticized as sexist for saying this, but I would say the same thing about a man who sounded this ignorant: Talking to Charles Gibson tonight, Palin sometimes reminded me of poor Miss South Carolina, who, asked why many Americans can't find the U.S. on a map, famously said: "I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some people out there in our nation don't have maps. And I believe that our education, like, such as in South Africa and the Iraq, everywhere, like such as, and I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., or should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future for our children."

This statement from Palin about Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is better, but not hugely: "I believe that under the leadership of Ahmadinejad, nuclear weapons in the hands of his government are extremely dangerous to everyone on this globe, yes. We have got to make sure these weapons of mass destruction, that nuclear weapons are not given to those hands of Ahmadinejad, not that he would use them, but that he would allow terrorists to be able to use them. So we have got to put the pressure on Iran."

N.B - Joanie had nucular misspelled -which I believe was meant to be a an affront to Governor Palin. Could be? Nah. Well, maybe.
Nah, no thanks. Non Sequitur, Joanie. This will keep you with a gig shouting with the White Noise Chris 'Milky' Matthews on The Tool Shed -MSNBC, but it is a roar of laughs to folks who can read - read about what they also witnessed. What? Were you hallucinating? Joan Walsh and Salon will continue to crank out laughs and McCain'Palin will continue to erode the once powerful lead enjoyed by the Junior Senator from Illinois.

When Aunt Helen insists, pour it on.

9/11 - America Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.

McCain/Palin: Trump the Race Card - Jesus was a Cajun!

Got this from Bull Dog Pundit at Ankle Biting Pundits. The Race Card is Flashed!

To avoid the Mary Mitchells and Hermene Hartman and Donna Brazile and Governor Dave Patersons (D. NY' Paterson sees the repeated use of the words "community organizer" as Republican code for "black". Uh-huh.) of America who might turn Obama's Race Cards before they're needed. Too early to play the Race Card. Wait until just before Halloween! Really get the Kids Scared!

Allow me to trump the Race Card with a theological turn on Rev. James Cones' Black Liberation Theology that he plagiarized from South American Catholic Lberation Theology. This trick is called Cajun Liberation Theology which has a much creedance as the arguement that Jesus is Black. He's Ragin Cajun! 'EYE -EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Suck da Heads off Dat Crawdad!'

Jesus was a Cajun! Jesus was a Ragin’ Cajun! ( Missa Solmenis - Charlie Daniels and the CDB)

From a town in Louisiana on the wrong side of the tracks,
came a rowdy Ragin Cajun by the name of Jeezah Criy,
He was harder than a hickory long and thinner than a rail,
He was faster than a Copperhead and he werent afraid of hell,
He turned 18 in the Parish courthouse facin 10 to life,
about some altercation in a beer joint with a knife,
He said judge I mean your honor I hope you’ll understand,
but if it happened here today I think I’d do it all again,
cause you don’t get up in my face, you don’t call my mama names,
you don’t whistle in my kitchen, you dont pull my big dogs chain,
I don’t mean no disrespect but I been stubborn, all my life

He’d been two years in prison when his cousin Jay came down,
said his sister was in trouble in some far off Northern town,
He broke out of jail that night and left a note behind,
I’ll see ya’ll in a week or so, till then I’m hard to find,
He found her in a tavern up in westside Buffalo,
Gave her a one way ticket home and pushed her out the door,
Said I’m lookin for the man who done my little sister harm,
he’s a soul destroying punk that stuck a needle in her arm,
and some pimp back in the corner, started makin himself small,
but he grabbed him by the collar and he pushed him to the wall,
He said you try to run away, you gone regret it, all your life,

The Cajun started laughin when the pimp pulled out a knife,
He said I oughtta kill ya, but I’m gonna spare your life,
With one sledgehammer fist he knocked him sprawlin on the floor,
and then he kicked him in his forked end, and he headed for the door,
He walked on down the sidewalk and hit the Southern trail,
He went back to Louisiana and he walked into the jail,
He said I had some business up above the bunkie line,
but my debts have all been settled and I’ve come to do my time,
and I hope I didnt cause no trouble, I wasnt tryin to run away,
But a feller owed me somethin and I had to make him pay,
Besides I’m kind of proud I been a coonass, all my life

McCain/Palin: Crossing the Pig to Nowhere with Barack 'Lipstick Barry' Obama

Gee Whizz! The Press decided to make Obama sound like a school snitch that got pants-ed* during lunch hour.

From Ben Smith's Politico:

Obama said the McCain campaign moved to "seize an innocent remark and take it out of context because they knew it's catnip for the news media."

"See, it would be funny, but the news media decided that would be the lead story yesterday. This happens every election cycle. Every four years, this is what we do. This is what they want to spend two of the last 55 days talking about...Enough!" he said.

Obama called the attacks "lies, outrage and swift boat politics."

"These are serious times and they call for a serious debate...spare me all the phony outrage. Spare me all the phony talk about change," he said.

Which reminded me of Nice Deb's Posting some time back - would this sniveling cry-baby give the keys to U.S.A. R Us to Chavez or other tyrants if they got fresh with Obama?

Here at home a girl has been 'picking on him' for a week and a 72 year old man has been laughing at Barack Obama! Now, only MSNBC and CNN takes him seriously.

* Pants-ed (v. transitive To Pants, or the condition of pants(ed) past tense) etymology - from the Chicago-ese the condition of having been the victim of an act perpetratued by one or more persons as a cautionary discipline. The trousers or pants are pulled down and,in the more serious cases involving snitching or telling, removed entirely from the culprit and tossed over a phone wire or tree.

John McCain did not make the cut!

Civil Truth on Sarah Palin from Civil Truth Himself!

My Pal Civil Truth who posts for And Rightly So and Red State ( with whom I parted ways for sticking up for John McCain during the Immigration Days in Exile with GOP purists - Good Lads One and All!) wrote a sober and sensitive piece on Governor Sarah Palin that I post and link here.

Sarah Palin’s character distilled into a moment of time
Posted by civil truth on September 8th, 2008

Copyright © 2008 And Rightly So!

On the day McCain announced her selection as his running mate, Palin thanked Clinton and Ferraro for blazing her trail. A day later, Ferraro noted her shock at Palin’s comment. You see, none of her peers, no one, had ever publicly thanked her in the 24 years since her historic run for the White House.

When I read these sentences, I was just stunned, almost like the sky had opened up. And a tear came into my eye.

I mean, imagine all the pain that Geraldine Ferraro must have been enduring this past quarter century, that since her unsuccessful run for Vice President, that no one from among her supposed supporters had ever publicly thanked for her historic run, almost like she had contracted a social disease.

And then, when she had faded into public obscurity, the unexpected vindication - and that coming not from the ranks of her own political party, but from the mouth of a women from the Republican party, thanking her for her labors during her first address to the nation after getting the nod as that party’s candidate for Vice President.

I mean if you have ever been in a somewhat comparable position, then you know the joy and relief that we feel when some one says “thank you” in recognition, tell us that we matter, that we are appreciated. I know such at times in my life when I’ve poured out my heart and was wallowing in self-pity, the healing power that hearing “thank you” has had.

And it takes a noble spirit, a generous heart to cross partisan lines to say those simple, and yet all-so rare lines - “thank you”.

This simple act says more about about Sarah Palin’s character than reams of analysis. Sarah, you’re gold!

Read the whole article: it’s most perceptive in explaining the astonishing impact the Sarah Palin has had on people who never before have entertained the thought that the Republican party might better represent their interests, at least a Republican party that chose Sarah to be one of its standard bearers.

McCain/Palin: Cardinal George Opposes Abortion - Media Shills for Obama and Lawyers Look for an End-Around

Lawyers and Media Shills will toss more manure than a mad cow and generally they get away with it - barrels of ink and a litigious impulse.

Most people have solid convictions and good sense. Lawyers and Media Shills will talk until it seems that they win - consequences be damned. This morning two clear examples glare at us from the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun Times over abortion and the election. McCain/Palin oppose Abortion and Obama/Biden is committed to Abortion. A lawyer and a Media Shill tell Catholic readers how to ignore the teachings of their Church, their Cardinal Archbishop, and their convictions and do what too many Catholic politicians do . . .what ever they feel like.

I'll stick with my beliefs and listen to Cardinal George - OK, pinheads! Start whining about scandal and war and anything but the issue of abortion - no wait, the lawyer andthe Media Shill are on it. Go back to your Pop Tarts.

Carol Marin, who had absolutely no moral compass when the chance of a hot story led her to help destroy the lives of an immigrant couple*, uffishly opines that Cardinal George of Chicago** is morally skewed:

Why has abortion become the principal litmus test of devout Catholicism? Or of a candidate's fitness? And why is a woman's womb always the first and foremost rallying cry of the culture wars?

I went back to read the bishops' own 12-page treatise, issued in 2004, called "Faithful Citizenship: A Catholic Call to Political Responsibility."

It is a long and thoughtful document.

"We face fundamental questions of life and death, war and peace, who moves ahead and who is left behind," it reads.

Amen.

Amen? '. . .And Blessed is the Fruit of Thy Womb, Jesus' - when? That's from the Hail Mary. For Catholics it seems to me that it extends to the womb, Carol. Carol Marin is all about the story and the story is all about Obama getting swept into the White House. Like the Fogartys and Carols need to get National Buzz - that's all that matters. They can be charged, imprisoned falsely, bankrupted and nearly destroyed, but Carol gets what she wants. That's the Media. Especially the Sun
Times
.

And the there is the Medill Ayers Dodgers at the Chicago Tribune who have trotted out a lawyer. There's lawyers and then there's lawyers - Doug Kmiec was a lead anti- Abortion lawyer and now he is a hair-splitter:
For the last several months, conservative bloggers have been lampooning me for endorsing Sen. Barack Obama for president—admittedly, a somewhat unusual thing for a Republican to do—so some political paddling is fair. What is unfair has been those Republican partisans who have tried to close the door on Obama in the name of the Catholic faith.

Obama does not advocate the reversal of Roe vs. Wade, and orthodox Catholics do. We do for the very clear reason given by George in a Sept. 2 letter—namely, "one cannot favor the legal status quo on abortion and also be working for the common good."

That's exactly right, but what's wrong is for Republican partisans to claim this to be Obama's position. It's not. Rather, Obama believes there are alternative ways to promote the "culture of life," even given the law's sanction of abortion.

The central hope of the Obama campaign is to find common ground—not by "favoring" that which can never be acceptable, the taking of innocent unborn life, but by dealing with the legal reality in a way that at least reduces the likelihood of abortion. Chicago is only Obama's adopted home, but in this he represents the best of her "I will/city of big shoulders/let's get something practically done" spirit.

Unlike Obama, I regret to say the current Republican Party thrives on demonizing its opposition to win elections. Without ideas, there is only name-calling. That's too bad because additional avenues for strengthening a culture of life open up when we avoid demonizing those who disagree with our Catholic view that life begins at conception. Talking strongly pro-life, Republicans often do little, promising that some judge not yet appointed is the answer or advocating leaving it all up to the states to decide, seldom acknowledging that many, perhaps most, states would end embedding the "legal status" of abortion—exactly contrary to the cardinal's thoughtful instruction.

Obama seeks to extend a helping hand (increased funding for prenatal care, maternity leave and less cumbersome and expensive adoption) with an astute understanding of how closely economic circumstances and abortion are related. Both reasonable extrapolations from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention statistics and a recent Catholic in Alliance for the Common Good study find that improving the economic well-being of the average family in general, and of the women facing the abortion decision in particular, can save unborn lives.
From 1979 to 1990, during a difficult inflationary economy, the annual rate of abortion increased by 14.2 percent, resulting in an additional 740,000 abortions. In the more economically stable decade following, the annual rate decreased by 34 percent, meaning that approximately 2.3 million children who would have been aborted are alive to-day.

The pretense that the GOP is now an agent for change for what it, itself, instituted is far too Orwellian to be accepted. The Obama-Biden team says to the average working person in America: Your work matters, and it will be compensated at a family wage; your retirement will be safeguarded from corporate fraud and manipulation—be it by cooking the books a la Enron Corp. or the legal abuses of a shadow banking system that by profligate lending practice has precipitated massive government bailouts and the takeover of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.

Sen. John McCain is an honorable man caught between a failed presidency and the tired ideas of his party that only invite repetition of that failure. There's no reason that failure should be extended in a way that blocks the greater protection of unborn life.

Douglas W. Kmiec is the author of "Can a Catholic Support Him?—Asking the Big Question About Barack Obama" and former constitutional legal counsel to President Ronald Reagan.

Mr. Pettifogger talks eleven to the dollar on a ten - Obama and Biden extend helping hands and McCain/Palin are Orwellian - got it dummies?

Conscience does not matter. Life does not matter. All that matters is that Obama gets in for Lawyers and Ink-Slingers.

It is not gonna happen.

Hey, Carol! Amen!

*Instead, I will post an interesting passage from The Blanket a website dedicated to a united Ireland. Two Chicagoans, Mary and Chris Fogarty, had their life's savings depleted in an attempt to defend themselves from the FBI, IRS, MI-5, and other acronymic agencies with the complicity of NBC 5's Carol Marin.

I remembered the case, because one of the murdered people was related to a girl who taught at Bishop McNamara in Kankakee ( funny how that town dovetails ( George & Lura Lynn & etc.), and I remembered how much storm the story had around the time of the Good Friday Peace Accords and the horrific Omagh bombings.

There should be a 'Follow-up' story to this - but the News media rarely do that when a story goes south on them. Carol Marin, how about some answers?

http://hickeysite.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html

** Cardinal George's Statement:

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

In the midst of a lengthy political campaign, matters of public policy that are also moral issues sometimes are misrepresented or are presented in a partial or manipulative fashion. While everyone could be expected to know the Church's position on the immorality of abortion and the role of law in protecting unborn children, it seems some profess not to know it and others, even in the Church, dispute it. Since this teaching has recently been falsely presented, the following clarification may be helpful.

The Catholic Church, from its first days, condemned the aborting of unborn children as gravely sinful. Not only Scripture's teaching about God's protection of life in the womb (consider the prophets and the psalms and the Gospel stories about John the Baptist and Jesus himself in Mary's womb) but also the first century catechism (the Didache or Teaching of the Twelve Apostles) said: "You shall not slay the child by abortions. You shall not kill what is generated." The teaching of the Church was clear in a Roman Empire that permitted abortion. This same teaching has been constantly reiterated in every place and time up to Vatican II, which condemned abortion as a "heinous crime." This is true today and will be so tomorrow. Any other comments, by politicians, professors, pundits or the occasional priest, are erroneous and cannot be proposed in good faith.

This teaching has consequences for those charged with caring for the common good, those who hold public office. The unborn child, who is alive and is a member of the human family, cannot defend himself or herself. Good law defends the defenseless. Our present laws permit unborn children to be privately killed. Laws that place unborn children outside the protection of law destroy both the children killed and the common good, which is the controlling principle of Catholic social teaching. One cannot favor the legal status quo on abortion and also be working for the common good.
This explains why the abortion issue will not disappear and why it is central to the Church's teaching on a just social order. The Church does not endorse candidates for office, but she does teach the principles according to which Catholics should form their social consciences. The teaching, which covers intrinsic evils such as abortion and many other issues that are matters of prudential judgment, could not be clearer; the practice often falls short because we are all sinners. There is no room for self-righteousness in Catholic moral teaching.

The Conference of Bishops in this country and the Bishops of Illinois have issued statements about Catholic social teaching and political life. They are available in our parishes. All of us should keep our country and all the candidates for office in the next election in our prayers. God bless you and your families.

McCain/Palin: School Choice is Chanel # 5 - Obama Hoses a Sea of Cheap Perfume on a Pig

Hope Floats like a Butterfly! Straight-Talk Stings Like Bee!

Barack Obama in a smarmy attempt to brush back the dandruff from his shoulders - all them flakes around him it is no wonder. His Armani left in the limo, Shirt -Sleeves Barry called the McCain/Palin Surge 'Lipstick on a Pig.'

Oh, No He didn't. Uh,Huh! He Did! Go,Barry! Go, Barry! . . .

and then the Junior Senator Without Resume tossed a gallon of Tassels LaTrune Old Useful Allure Au de cologne all over the pet pig of Public Education!

Obama offered new proposals Tuesday to double federal funding for charter schools and establish a federal fund to encourage better use of computers and technology in the classroom at a total cost of $1 billion annually.

Combined with education proposals he announced last year, Obama plans to expand federal aid to education by $19 billion per year. The bulk of Obama's proposed funding increases target making preschool education more affordable, providing better pay for high-performing teachers and improving math and science teaching

Twice as much more for Public Schools! Charter Schools, Senator, are Public Schools. Double the Funding to same group of geniuses who have all but killed education in America. Heck Obama and Billy Ayers* MADE Chicago Public Schools what they are today!

Thus, exit safety, teacher accountability, effective budgetary control, skilled management, serious curriculum development.

School Choice - Vouchers - is the only genuine path to school reform. That would mean Choice - not just so N.O.W. can ensure more Abortions - real choice - the civil rights issue of the post-racial 21st Century! Unless of course Senator Obama is bound to the same old same old racial politics.

Obama's historical nomination should signal the end to racial politics and all the concomitant cottage industries associated with racial politics and class warfare.

John McCain is for real Real Change - Real Choice - Education Reform.

Obama is dousing a smelly old hog with gallons of cheap perfume - didn't work in the 1970's and still not working.

Love Me, I'm a Liberal
by William Ayers
Upon returning from summer break, I found a surprising letter awaiting me written by three colleagues from another university, two of whom I'd known and worked with for decades. The letter simultaneously informed me about a conference my friends were organizing and explained -- with some anguish I think -- that I would not be welcome there.

They note that we're living in troubled times, that calculated appeals to fear rule the day, and that they hope to counter all of that. Ironically, fear is stamped all over the letter.

I'm reminded of when Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin were hauled before the fearsome House Committee on Un-American Activities, refused to bow, and helped to laugh it out of existence. Or when the universities were cowed by a bullying government into banning the DuBois Clubs -- a handful of students in the youth-wing of the CP who were attacked by Richard Nixon for intentionally creating a front group that would dupe people because it rhymed with the Boys Clubs -- and we members of Students for a Democratic Society signed up en masse and swelled their membership a hundredfold.

I find myself sitting here humming Phil Ochs' brilliant "Love Me, I'm a Liberal."

Different times demand different responses, of course, but to claim the mantle of "social justice" while practicing this kind of exclusion is unacceptable.

Their letter to me and my response to them are reproduced below. I've edited out identifiable references to my colleagues in order to protect the . . . well, you decide, let's just say their privacy. I can be reached at billayers.org, or bayers@uic.edu. Onward
!

William Ayers
Distinguished Professor
University of Illinois at ChicagoDear Bill,

This is an unusual letter for us to be writing and for you to receive. We count you among the most noted progressive educators in the country with a deep commitment to teaching for social justice. Yet, after extended deliberation and discussion, we find ourselves in a real quandary. Because of current . . . times, we cannot invite you to an event we are planning for progressive educators. Because we know and deeply respect you and your commitment to teaching for social justice, we felt that an explanation was in order.

Next spring, we will host an event . . . to honor Bob Moses and progressive education. Bob is to receive the . . . John Dewey Prize for Progressive Education. This prize is . . . "to honor significant achievement in progressive education for the purpose of making society more just." In an era of increasing standardization and heightened inequities, we want to shine a bright light on the ideals of progressive education and remind the public that there is another model for education that attends well to the needs of every child. It is our intention to invite other progressive educators to this convening and to create a significant news and media event honoring the ideals of progressive education [and] the work of Bob Moses. . . .

It is because of our commitment to educate the public and to undertake what is primarily a symbolic project that we cannot risk a simplistic and dubious association between progressive education and the violent aspects of your past. We believe, of course, in your right to express your views, then and now. This is not about curtailing your expression. Rather, in this age when Google summarizes instantly, and often shallowly, who we are, it is about trying to say as clearly as possible what we are arguing for. If we, as educators, want to engage the learner, in this case the public, where they are, then we have to find ways for the public to see progressive education not as radical or threatening but as nurturing and familiar, connected to the very best aspects of their own learning experiences. For the last five years local and regional news organizations have taken the "liberal" . . . faculty . . . to task. It is an environment that we have challenged when key principles were involved, defending and maintaining our . . . commitment to social justice against the state bureaucracy. This event, however, is a celebration honoring two educators' accomplishments and positively promoting progressive education. We don't want a shallow press to prevail. We want to engage the public with as little interference as possible.

One major reason for presenting a prize at this time is that progressivism, and progressive education in particular, have been greatly weakened by a broad and calculated appeal to our fears in this changing world. We want to reinsert into the civil dialogue that progressive education stands upon its proven record and can be a viable alternative when our mood turns away from fears and towards hopes. First, we need to get ourselves back to the table, and then position ourselves as polite in our discourse before celebrating the breadth of expression within progressive education. Coming from behind may well demand such strategic thinking, whether is satisfies all of our passion or not.

We hope this letter finds you well and that you understand and possibly appreciate this decision.

Sincerely,

"Lauren" and the organizers

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

August 29, 2006

Dear Lauren,

You have, of course, no obligation to include me in the progressive education conference you're organizing, certainly not in your deliberations about my suitability to attend. I'm tempted to say, with apologies to Groucho Marx, that I wouldn't want to attend any progressive education conference that would have me.

Chances are I'd have never heard of the conference had you not written, and in any case wouldn't have given a second thought to my presence on or absence from the guest list. But since you've opened this in the way you have, since you've outlined your thinking on the matter and invited me to understand and possibly appreciate your decision, I feel I must respond.

Your hope to position progressive education "not as radical or threatening but as nurturing and familiar" is in some ways a fool's errand. Of course, no one argues that the progressive movement should threaten students or teachers or citizens -- progressive education does indeed hold the hope of realizing a humane and decent education for all within a revitalized politics and a more authentically democratic society. But progressive education, if it means anything at all, must embody a profound threat to the status quo. It is a direct challenge, for example, to all the policy initiatives that deskill and hammer teachers into interchangeable cogs in a bureaucracy, all the pressure to reduce teaching to a set of manageable and easily monitored tasks, all the imposition of labels and all the simple-minded metrics employed to describe student learning and rank youngsters in a hierarchy of winners and losers. It's a threat to all that, and more.

But here we face a contradiction at the heart of our efforts: the humanistic ideal and the democratic injunction tell us that every person is an entire universe, that each can develop as a full and autonomous person engaged with others in a common polity and an equality of power; the capitalist imperative insists that profit is at the center of economic, political, and social progress, and develops, then, a culture of competition, elitism, and hierarchy. An education for democracy fails as an adjunct to capitalism just as an education for capitalism fails to build either a democratic ethos or a participatory practice. We must engage, then, in the arena of school and education reform as we struggle toward a world fit for all children -- a place of peace and justice, joy and balance. The two are inseparable.

And so I believe that progressive education must be part of a radical movement if it is to be worthy of the hopes and dreams of those who fight to bring humanistic alternatives to life. I mean radical in the sense that Ella Baker, one of the unsung mothers of the Civil Rights Movement, used the word. She called herself a radical, and she explained that radical meant "going to the root." Little reforms here and there never add up unless we get to the core of the problems we face, she argued, analyze our situations, connect the struggles as we work for more fundamental change.

Charlie Cobb, who co-wrote Radical Equations, was also the author of the original proposal for Freedom Schools in the South more than forty years ago. The brief he wrote claimed that while Black children were denied many things -- decent school facilities, honest and forward-looking curriculum, fully qualified teachers -- the fundamental injury was "a complete absence of academic freedom, and students are forced to live in an environment that is geared to squashing intellectual curiosity, and different thinking." Cobb called the classrooms of Mississippi "intellectual wastelands," and he challenged himself and others "to fill an intellectual and creative vacuum," and to encourage people "to articulate their own desires, demands and questions." He was urging students to confront the circumstances of their lives, to wonder about how they got to where they were, and to think of how they might change things. He was crossing hard lines of propriety and tradition, convention and common sense, of course, poised to break the law and overthrow a system. His proposal was designed to plow a deep and promising furrow toward the new -- more than radical, this was insurrection itself, progressive education linked to radical politics.

Of course, we are required now to make our own contributions in our own time and place; the pathway, the content, and the curriculum must be of, by, and for this moment and this community. We might take inspiration and attitude, sustenance and stance from the Mississippi experience, but only as an orientation toward launch, toward imagining and trying to bring to life something entirely new.

Finally, you refer to "the violent aspects" of my past. As you know I've written extensively about politics and protest as well as my own involvements, about the dual responsibilities to act and to doubt, and about the impossibility of claiming a high moral stance while sitting on the sidelines. I've accounted for my actions during the US assaults on Vietnam and against the Black Freedom Movement -- which is what I assume you're referring to -- and paid the price asked of me by the legal system. And I've said often that our society ought to engage in a truth-and-reconciliation process concerning those terrible and wondrous times; in other words, I'm happy to stand up, tell my story, admit my mistakes, and take responsibility -- shoulder-to-shoulder with everyone else, including war criminals, politicians, soldiers, officers, frat boys, students, scholars, citizens. Absent that, you seem to say that I have some uniquely dreadful behavior to account for, and I politely disagree.

I worry that you're imagining a progressivism divorced from politics, the larger world, and any real hope of transformation -- a timid, tepid, soft and servile thing. And I worry that your attempt to cleanse your conference of the likes of me has no end: you'll have to cut out the Marxists and the socialists, of course, anyone who writes critically about capitalism and education, then the militants, the noisy anti-racists, the pushy feminists, the gays and lesbians, anyone who refers to "social justice" -- a term under steady attack from the powerful just now. I'm reminded of the last presidential election when several presumably well-meaning liberals asked, in effect, if women would please stop talking so loudly about (or getting) abortions, if gays would please get back in the closet, and if Black people and Mexicans might stay out of sight for a few months so that "we" can win this thing, and then everything will somehow be alright. It's not only unprincipled, deeply cynical and cowardly, it's suicidal, a slippery slope with lots of miserable historical precedent. So, while I think I understand what you've said, no, I don't appreciate it. I don't rationalize it. I don't endorse it. And I refuse to participate in portraying myself as a pariah. So invite me.

Sincerely,

Bill

McCain/Palin: Sarah Palin's Ok with Us - Salon Should Sell Beer.

Billy Ayers and his odious Old Lady were members of University of Illinois Chicago Dean Stanley Fish's 'salon' - a gathering of guys who wear turtle-necks and tweed and their wives and significant others dedicated to frank and open discussions of 'how stupid and inconsequential Americans tend to be.' Rawley!

Joan Walsh*, the Irish Honors Student editor of Salon, has a flat-out assault on Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin. Salon is a literary extension of the wine and brie-sotted set discussing 'how stupid and inconsequential Americans tend to be.;

Joanie Walsh is a WOW -N.O.W. WOMAN and an MSNBC sneer-caster.

She sent Juan Cole** ( the Anti-colonialist author and smart guy that Yale took a pass on) out to tell us that Sarah Palin is the head of the Alaska Taliban.

You know Alaska, where the celebration of Diversity has led to massive castrations of pre-teen girls, where opposition candidates are garroted, where non-moose diets are proscribed, where 80% of the Alaska Population wails and gnashes teeth.

The Tweedy Twerps want all of 'stupid and inconsequential Americans' to know that,

' Contemporary Muslim fundamentalists, however, generally oppose abortion.

Palin's stance is even stricter than that of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran. In 2005, the legislature in Tehran attempted to amend the country's antiabortion statute to permit an abortion up to four months in case of a birth defect. The conservative clerical Guardianship Council, which functions as a sort of theocratic senate, however, rejected the change. Iran's law on abortion is therefore virtually identical to the one that Palin would like to see imposed on American women, and the rationale in both cases is the same, a literalist religious impulse that resists any compromise with the realities of biology and of women's lives. Saudi Arabia's restrictive law on abortion likewise disallows it in the case or rape or incest, or of fetal impairment, which is also Gov. Palin's position.

Theocrats confuse God's will with their own mortal policies. Just as Muslim fundamentalists believe that God has given them the vast oil and gas resources in their regions, so Palin asks church workers in Alaska to pray for a $30 billion pipeline in the state because "God's will has to get done." Likewise, Palin maintained that her task as governor would be impeded "if the people of Alaska's heart isn't right with God." Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei of Iran expresses much the same sentiment when he says "the only way to attain prosperity and progress is to rely on Islam."

Not only does Palin not believe global warming is "man-made," she favors massive new drilling to spew more carbon into the atmosphere. Both as a fatalist who has surrendered to God's inscrutable will and as a politician from an oil-rich region, she thereby echoes Saudi Arabia. Riyadh has been found to have exercised inappropriate influence in watering down a report in 2007 of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.'

The article links Time magazine's earlly broadsides against Palin that go nowhere. Juan Cole tries to scare the bejabbers out of us 'stupid and inconseqential Americans' with a twice told tale about book banning. The problem is that the story, linked to Time, concludes that there is no there there.

Salon should sell Slim-Jims, Have-A-Hanks, Old Style Beer, and feature a wall shelf of fine Frito Lay Products in individual sized servings, which drunks can purchase by the fist full to stave off false hunger.

Joan Walsh and her staff of tweedy Obama Goebbels provide much less nourishment than a bust-out saloon.

Click my post title for Salon's Juan Cole attack on Sarah Palin and do . . .do click the links to the Time-Warner chips and pretzels.

* Here's Joan Walsh and her stated agenda - check out the balance in the articles:

About Me
I joined Salon in 1998 to become our first full-time news editor, and succeeded the irreplaceable David Talbot as editor in chief in February 2005.

Before that I spent many years as a freelancer -- including for Salon; Scott Rosenberg taught me how to use e-mail in 1995 so I could send in my stories -- and I also ran my own business, consulting to national foundations and nonprofits on education, community development and urban poverty issues. In the 1980s, I was California bureau Chief for In These Times and editor of the Santa Barbara News and Review (now the Independent).

I've written for everyone from the Los Angeles Times and Washington Post to Vogue and the Nation. I love baseball, Bruce Springsteen, Stephen Colbert and long walks on the beach. I live in San Francisco with my daughter, Nora, the best teenager ever.

McCain/Palin: Catholics Seem to Give McCain/Palin the Zogby Boost

The Zogby Numbers seem to indicate Catholics to be the big demographic in the McCain/Palin Bounce over the flat Obama/Biden ticket. Makes Sense - Obama Loves Abortion and Hates School Choice and Joe Does What the DNC Tells Him.

They Are no Mavericks!

All they got is Hollywood - We got Altar and Rosary Societies and Knights of Columbus Councils everywhere!

Some Very Strange Numbers From Zogby

Fritz Wenzel, a spokesman for the Zogby polling organization, is on XM POTUS08 right now, and he says that according to their numbers, McCain's surge in the polls started during the Democratic convention... which strikes me as rather odd.

Then he says that Sarah Palin is helping McCain by "double digits" among Catholic voters, particularly in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Ohio, and Michigan. While I don't find that impossible, it's interesting that a non-Catholic political figure would move the dial for Catholic voters. (Having said that, it's easy to picture her "hockey mom" style playing with Catholic voters in those states...)

[UPDATE: Numerous readers argue this is the Trig Palin effect. Yeah, that would make sense. A couple readers are telling me Sarah Palin was baptized Catholic, but I am skeptical that that would be the reason that Catholic voters would be shifting to the McCain-Palin ticket; that fact just doesn't seem publicized enough, nor seem like the piece of data that would shift a voter from one ticket to another, as Biden is Catholic.]

Independent women voters, as a portion of the sample, shrunk from 15 percent to 7 percent, but they went to Obama-Biden, not McCain-Palin. Yet among independent voters overall, McCain-Palin leads Obama-Biden, 49 percent to 42 percent.

All of this is from a Zogby Interactive poll of likely voters. For what it's worth...

McCain/Palin:McCain Crosses the T – on Obama Armada

Like Nelson at Trafalgar, Togo at Tsushima, Jellicoe at Jutland and Oldendorf at Surigao, John McCain brought all of the heavy guns in his fleet to bear upon the mighty Obama Armada lined up in rigid order of battle.

John McCain crossed the T with his patient and calculated choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin on August 29th. It is all over. That move was the game changer. Dean of Chicago Journalism, Robert Novak wrote this:
. . . not only because Palin appears to be an outstanding candidate but also because McCain in his first test as party leader came through with a unique and responsible decision.
The party faithful had feared the worst, in view of McCain's long record as a maverick who enjoyed violating Republican dogma.
As recently as two weeks before Palin's selection, McCain's closest aides feared, in the words of one of them, "McCain would be McCain," by choosing liberal independent Sen. Joseph Lieberman, which would have deflated the convention and indeed the party on the eve of an uphill battle for the presidency.
But on this occasion, McCain made a politically ingenious selection. Whether the presence on the Republican ticket of a woman for the first time actually will attract disaffected supporters of Hillary Clinton is doubtful.
Gender politics aside, she is an ideal running mate. On the one hand, she shares McCain's loathing for earmarks, which are ingrained in the corruption-tainted politics of Alaska. She also has a good record in fighting off big oil, which plays a major role in the politics of Alaska.
Her election as governor broke the hold of the Republican "Alaska gang," whose senior members have been under criminal investigation.
On the other hand, she meets conservative requirements as an opponent of abortion and member of the National Rifle Association. That is much more than most people in St. Paul were hoping for.

Senator Obama, David Axelrod, Howard Dean, the DNC and their money machines are caught in the searchlights turned on by Media attempts at ‘night action’ on Governor Palin’s family and her character. Clown anchors like Olbermann, Madow and Matthews at MSNBC and Campbell Brown, Wolf Blitzer and Jack Cafferty at CNN have exposed themselves as partisans and not journalists.

The McCain Campaign is on target and firing salvo after salvo and the impact is serious on Obama:

Obama is sunk, not for lack of brains, but lack of guts. He could have and should have asked – begged Hillary Rodham Clinton to shore up his well-heeled but doctrinaire campaign handled entirely by Progressives. Instead, his rarified soul demanded a lesser light in durable, affable, malleable Joe Biden (D-Delaware).

Obama is perceived, and rightly so, to be a snob and a disdainful prophet of redistribution of wealth. Obama’s Armada and all of its legions of tax-payer funded foot-soldiers (SEIU, Public School Lobby, Teachers Unions, AFSMCE, ACORN & etc.) is sunk.. Obama has been hoisted to Olympus on the hemp and pulleys of the Progressives – kind of a reverse deus ex machina and can only talk down to Americans. He uses nice carefully chosen words but he still talks down to us in litanies of imperative sentences.

McCain steamed right across Obama’s bow and his Armada lined up like baby ducks behind him and Joe Biden. The Armada is shattered.

Waxing biblical, as they did in Denver, I might add from Douay Rheims - Pharao's chariots and his army he hath cast into the sea: his chosen captains are drowned in the Red Sea. Exodus 15:4

MSNBC - Matthews and Olbermann Out! - Still Irrelevant.

"what did you Boys Do? Milky? Tubby?'

Chris 'The White Noise' Matthews and Keith 'Tubby' Olbermann have been canned as anchor chairs for election night coverage by MSNBC In The Tank for Obama and its sinking flagship NBC News.

The Took Shed- MSNBC not only destroyed its flimsy credibility but it also created a ground swell of anger among voters repulsed by its ham-handed shillling for Camp Obama.

Adios Milky! Good Luck, Tubby. Why a flannel-mouthed jerk like Matthews or a game-show-host mangue like Olbermann seemed significant in the defeat of NBC's enemies ( Read anybody not a lunatic left Progressive)is beyond me - but I can not thank those geniuses enough.

Obama's Community Organizing IQ - 'I quit' - the core of Community organizing 'Self Interest'

'Let Me Be Perfectly Clear! All is Self-Interst!' Young Barry Obama - Community Organizer

Community Organizer - Kids forget the MBA and Harvard Med School or the apprenticeship to Local 597 Pipe Fitters - Be a community organizer, just like Obama!

'My God, Sir! A community organizer? Not a community organizer? You don't say! Me I work for Bell Labs and was a project director at Fermi, but I am in awe of you!

Wow the gang down at the Malt Shop and drop it on 'em, ' I'm going to be a Community Organizer, Sally! I'm going to get people to complain about anything - at the Grassroots Level!'

'Gee, Seth, maybe I will go out with you now!'

I read an article by John Judis for the New Republic and got a reprint from our friends at Petroleum World. Now, over the weekend I stated that Judas (Iscariot) seemed more of community organizer than Jesus - Judas had the grant money on him when he did the Dutch Act after ratting out Jesus to Caiaphas and the lads of Sanhedrin. 'We gave Judas an unrestricted grant of thirty (30) pieces of silver to be used for the stated purpose of producing the 'self-proclaimed Messiah!'

John Judis is a nice Lithuanian sounding lad. He examines Obama'secrets as a community organizer - a guy who gets other people to complain about anything.

Both Chicago papers ( Tribune & Sun Times) immediately jumped on the 'community organizing' - the latest panties in a twist from Barack Obama's Campaign. Rudy Giuliani got the ball rolling down the lane - no gutter ball that one. Strike! Right at the heart and core of Obama's Branding Narrative. Then Gov. Palin struck another thunderball and shattered Obama's pins:

Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown.
And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves.
I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a “community organizer,” except that you have actual responsibilities. I might add that in small towns, we don’t quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they are listening, and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren’t listening.
We tend to prefer candidates who don’t talk about us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco.

Owwww. Progressive America is smarting. Communuity Organizing, it is said, goes back to Gamaliel the teacher of St. Paul. Why, I do not know. I think because some radical icon said so - Saul Alinisky who linked the story of Ananias and Sapphira from Acts of the Apostles to taking grassroots initiatives at pressuring people to get what you want. Gamaliel was a Pharisee - most leaders of the Temple at the time were Sadducee's- and he counseled the Sanhedrin ( The Law Givers) to 'be careful' with the Apostles of Jesus. He counseled enlightened self interest. Let's wait and see, Gents!

Alinsky too Gamaliel to be the first community organizer - Ok. Obama's robots want Jesus to be the first, but Jesus was a carpenter with side job - preacher.

Well it seems that Barack Obama's days as a community organizer - someone who gets other people to complain about anything, like former gang-bangers hired by CeaseFire to end the co urge of gun violence - bang-up job you're doing! It seems Obama took Saul Alinsky at his word and took the path to self interest - He quit:

But Obama was also worried about something else. He told Kellman that he feared community organizing would never allow him "to make major changes in poverty or discrimination." To do that, he said, "you either had to be an elected official or be influential with elected officials." In other words, Obama believed that his chosen profession was getting him nowhere, or at least not far enough. Personally, he might end up like his father; politically, he would fail to improve the lot of those he was trying to help.

And so, Obama told Kellman, he had decided to leave community organizing and go to law school. Kellman, who was already thinking of leaving organizing himself, found no reason to argue with him. "Organizing," Kellman tells me, as we sit in a Chicago restaurant down the street from the Catholic church where he now works as a lay minister, "is always a lost cause." Obama, circa late 1987, might or might not have put it quite that strongly. But he had clearly developed serious doubts about the career he was pursuing.

Yet, two decades later, to hear Obama the presidential candidate tell it, those years in Chicago as a community organizer shaped the person--and the politician--he has become. Campaigning in Iowa last year, he declared that community organizing was "the best education I ever had, better than anything I got at Harvard Law School." In a video this spring, Obama stated that community organizing is "something I carry with me when I think about politics today--obviously at a different level and in a different place, but the same principles still apply." "Barack is not a politician first and foremost," Michelle Obama has said. "He's a community activist exploring the viability of politics to make change."

Certainly, Obama has good reason to tout his community organizing experience. After graduating from an Ivy League college, Obama passed up more lucrative jobs to devote three years to organizing low-income African Americans in Chicago. That choice tells us something about his values, and his pride in it is understandable.

But his campaign has taken the point a step further, implying that Obama the politician is a direct descendant of Obama the organizer--that he has carried the practices and principles of community organizing into his campaign, and would carry them into the White House as well. This is the version of Obama's biography that most journalists have accepted.

Give most journalists a sandwich and you can tell them that Amelia Earhart is living in Hyde Park and they'll print it. A guy is a career gangbanger, gets convicted, goes away, gets out, and becomes an activist with more ink from journalists than Heather McCartney and Oprah with the flu.

1. Like Palin - Dohrn is familiar with guns but also adept with bombs!

2. She's a Mom. Also, the two Fat Broads from Heart would let you use Barracuda!
3. She's a Small-town Gal with a Big City Attitude!

4. She's helped you before

5. She has her Dude to watch the kids while she is on the road

6. She can answer all those questions you have avoided about your long association with Billy Ayers

7. Brings strong academic credentials . . . I think.

8. Really Rad Views - Milky Matthews, Tubby Olbermann and Butch Maddow will love it!

9. You and Bernardine could car pool from Hyde Park and save on gas

10.She was a Cheerleader!

Bernardine Dohrn was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1942 and grew up in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, an upper-middle-class suburb of Milwaukie.[1] Her father, Bernard Ohrnstein, changed the surname to Dohrn when Bernandine was in high school.[2]. Her father was Jewish and mother was Christian Scientist with a Swedish background.[3][4]She graduated from Whitefish Bay High School where she was a cheerleader[5]. . . A founder of the Weatherman group, Dohrn was a member of the "Weather Bureau" (name later changed to "Central Committee"), the committee that controlled the group, and is considered to have been one of the top leaders of the organization. Larry Grathwohl, an FBI informant who was in the Weatherman from the fall of 1969 to the spring of 1970, considered her one of the two top leaders of the organization, along with Bill Ayers.[12]

While Dohrn was top leader of the Weathermen, the group organized the October 1969 Days of Rage riot in Chicago, which Dohrn led,[13] and in the 1970s conducted a series of bombings against the U.S. government and symbols of authority, bombing federal buildings and police stations.[14] In the two months before the March 6, 1970, Greenwich Village townhouse explosion in which three members of the group were killed as a bomb was being constructed, all members of Weatherman went underground. At about the same time, the group changed its name to Weather Underground.

While Dohrn was leader of the group, went underground in early 1970, and engaged in a series of bombings. Its activities have often been described as terrorism,[15] although some, including Dohrn's husband, Bill Ayers, also a leader of the group, have disputed that description.[16][17] The FBI, on the same Web page in which it describes organization as a former "domestic terrorist group", includes a picture of Dohrn.[18] The Encyclopedia of Terrorism has an article on Dohrn.[13]

In a 1994 interview, Dohrn said that while the group carried out some bombings of buildings, it did not target people, and the group's actions were justified as a proper response to violent government actions: "We only did a couple, and they were carefully done. They involved property and were not meant to harm anybody. They were symbolic and done so that everyone would instantly recognize what was being said. It was 'armed propaganda'. Sure, it was violent, and it's hard to justify twenty years later, but it was extremely restrained and a highly appropriate response to the level of violence being rained nationally and internationally.".[19]

Dohrn has been suspected of involvement in a February 16, 1970, bombing of the Park Police Station in San Francisco, which kllled a police officer and partially blinded another, who was forced to retire on a disability.[20] At the time, Dohrn was said to be living with a Weatherman cell in a houseboat in Sausalito, California, unnamed law enforcement sources later told KRON-TV.[21] An investigation into the case was reopened in 1999,[20] and a San Francisco grand jury looked into the incident, but no indictments followed,[21] and no one was ever arrested for the bombing.[20] An FBI informant, Larry Grathwohl, who successfully penetrated the organization from the late summer of 1969 until April 1970, later testified to a U.S. Senate subcommittee that Bill Ayers, then a high-ranking member of the organization and a member of its Central Committee (but not then Dohrn's husband), had said Dohrn constructed and planted the bomb. Grathwohl testified that Ayers had told him specifically where the bomb was placed (on a window ledge) and what kind of shrapnel was put in it. Grathwohl said Ayers was emphatic, leading Grathwohl to believe Ayers either was present at some point during the operation or had heard about it from someone who was there.[22] In a book about his experiences published in 1976, Grathwohl wrote that Ayers, who had recently attended a meeting of the group's Central Committee, said Dohrn had planned the operation, made the bomb and placed it herself.[23] In 2008, Grathwohl's testimony was quoted by David Freddoso in his book The Case Against Barack Obama. "Ayers and Dohrn escaped prosecution only because of government misconduct in collecting evidence against them", Freddoso wrote.[22]

[edit] Role in policymaking, ideology and public statements for Weather Underground
Dohrn was a principal signatory on the group's "Declaration of a State of War" in 1970 that formally declared "war" on the U.S. Government, and completed the group's transformation from political advocacy to violent action. Dohrn also co-wrote and published the subversive manifesto Prairie Fire in 1974, and participated in the covertly-filmed Underground in 1976.

In late 1975, the Weather Underground put out an issue of a magazine, Osawatamie, which carried an article by Dohrn, "Our Class Struggle", described as a speech given to the organization's cadres on September 2 of that year. In the article, Dohrn clearly stated support for Communist ideology:[24]

We are building a communist organization to be part of the forces which build a revolutionary communist party to lead the working class to seize power and build socialism. [...] We must further the study of Marxism-Leninism within the WUO [Weather Underground Organization]. The struggle for Marxism-Leninism is the most significant development in our recent history. [...] We discovered thru [sic] our own experiences what revolutionaries all over the world have found — that Marxism-Leninism is the science of revolution, the revolutionary ideology of the working class, our guide to the struggle [...]"
According to a 1974 FBI study of the group, Dohrn's article signaled a developing commitment to Marxism-Leninism that had not been clear in the groups previous statements, despite trips to Cuba by some members of the group before and after Weather Underground was formed, and contact with Vietnamese communists there.[24]

Leaving the underground
While on the run from police, Dohrn married another Weatherman leader Bill Ayers, with whom she has two children. During the last years of their underground life, Dohrn and Ayers resided in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago, where they used the aliases Christine Louise Douglas and Anthony J. Lee.

A sketch of
Dohrn from 1970In the late 1970s, the Weatherman group split into two factions — the "May 19 Coalition" and the "Prairie Fire Collective" — with Dohrn and Ayers in the latter. The Prairie Fire Collective favored coming out of hiding, with members facing the criminal charges against them, while the May 19 Coalition continued in hiding. A decisive factor in Dohrn's coming out of hiding were her concerns about her children.[9]

The couple turned themselves in to authorities in 1980. While some charges relating to their activities with the Weathermen were dropped due to prosecutorial misconduct[25] (see COINTELPRO), Dohrn pled guilty to charges of aggravated battery and bail jumping, receiving probation.[26] She later served less than a year of jail time, after refusing to testify against ex-Weatherman Susan Rosenberg in an armed robbery case.[25] Shortly after turning themselves in, Dohrn and Ayers became legal guardians of the son of former members of the Weather Underground, Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert, after they were convicted of murder for their roles in a 1981 armored car robbery.[citation needed]

This would be . . . . EXPLOSIVE! The BOMB!

Dig it! Senator call Billy's Old Lady up and get her to join you and the Gals!

Obama Boffo as Queeg & O'Reilly Delivers in McCain Mutiny on Factor

O'Reilly:
The witness is understandably
agitated. I request a recess.

Obama:
I don't want a recess.

O'Reilly:
- Did you conduct such a search?
- Yes.

Obama:
My disloyal friends failed me,
and the key couldn't be found.

O'Reilly:
wasn't this whole fuss
over a quart of strawberries?

Obama:
The pilfering of food is a very
serious occurrence on board a ship.

O'Reilly:

You were told that the mess boys
ate the berries. There was no key.

Obama:

The key was not imaginary. I don't
know anything about the mess boys.

O'Reilly:

Have you no recollection of
a conversation with William Ayers?

Didn't he tell you that
the mess boys ate the strawberries?

Obama:

I remember he was grateful
for his community grant. His wife was nuts.

O'Reilly:

Do you know
where he is now?

He's in Chicago. He can be flown
up here in three hours if necessary.

- Shall we have him testify?

Obama:
- No, I ... ( takes two stell balls from the pocket of his Aramani jacket and rolls them throughout the interview)

I don't see any need of that.

Now that I recall, he might have
said something about mess boys.

I questioned many men, and Ayers
was not the most reliable Democrat.

O'Reilly:

The defence has no other recourse
than to produce William Ayers.

Obama

There's no need for that.
He'll only tell you lies.

All the candiates were disloyal.
They were always fighting me.

If the crew wanted their
shirt-tails out, they'd let them.

Take the tow line ...
defective equipment.

But they began spreading wild
rumours about steaming in circles, -

- and then "Old Yellowstain". I was
to blame for McCain's incompetence. ( rolls up a storm here!)

McCain was the perfect candidate,
but not Barack.

But the strawberries,
that's where I had them.

I proved with geometric logic that a
duplicate key to the icebox existed.

I could have produced that key. They
were protecting some candidate...

Naturally, I can only cover
these things from memory.

If I've left anything out,
just ask me specific questions -

- and I'll be glad to answer them
one by one.

O'Reilly -

Tomoorow! Don't miss Part Trois of our series of Masterpiece Theatre with Senator Barack Obama - Live from Community Orgainizer's Playhouse - On the No Spin Zone!

Cut! Cut!!!! Cut!!!!! God Damn it!!! I'll read the script! I'll write the script ! We Off? Oh That's just great!!!

McCain/Palin: Barack, McCain Did Not Attack me or 'Ordinary People' - He attacked You! Me and the Neighbors are Cool With It! Man Up, Son!

Got this from Barack this morning - he seems genuinely hurt, like all those steel workers still waiting for jobs he did not get them back when Obama was Gamaliel Trained/ Radical community organizer! The stealth process.

Here's Barack's note to me as an Old Time DNC member.

Patrick --

Why would the Republicans spend a whole night of their convention attacking ordinary people?

With the nation watching, the Republicans mocked, dismissed, and actually laughed out loud at Americans who engage in community service and organizing.

Our convention was different. We gave the stage to everyday Americans who hunger for change and stepped up to make phone calls, knock on doors, and raise money in small amounts in their communities.

You may have missed it, but we also showed the country a video with the faces and voices of those organizers, volunteers, and donors from every corner of the country.

Watch the video and make a donation of $5 or more now to show that in this election, ordinary people will make their voices heard.

https://donate.barackobama.com/changevideo

What you didn't hear from the Republicans at their convention is a single new idea about how to make the healthcare system work, get our economy moving for the middle class, or improve education.

Just attacks -- on me, and on you.

But what the McCain attack squad doesn't understand is that people like you -- who devote part of their busy lives to organizing and building their communities -- have the power to change this country.

With your help, that's exactly what we're going to do.

Thank you,

Barack

Bararck,

No person ever good newsed me by leading off with 'Patrick!' It was usuallly prelude to an ass-kicking. Me and the neighbors are cool with McCain.

1. School Choice

2. Lower Taxes

3. Energy Independence

4. Combats Islamist Terror

5. Does not hang around with fruitcakes ( Ayers, Rezko, Wright, Pfleger & etc)

6. No Abortion

7. No Corruption

and have you given a real long look at your VP? I mean Sarah Palin or Pope Joe? really.

You'll be Ok. McCain will not really tune-you-up! It is metaphorical.

MSNBC - The Elephant in the Living Room - I'm Sorry, I Mean Irrelevant

Milky, Tubby, and Butch are guilty, guilty, guilty!!!!

Chris 'Milky' Matthews - The White Noise! He shouts over the answers of every person that Milky chooses to try and embarrass - Milky always fails. Like Rep. Adam Putnam of Florida who along with a McCain Aide, were subjected to The White Noise's incessant screaming prior to Sarah Palin's ground swelling speech on Thursday.

'Who, Who? Who made these smears against Palin? Who?' - Milky must poop through feathers!

Keith Olbermann, MSNBC Orson Welles in idiotic men's wear and his Sorcerer's Apprentice Rachel 'Butch' Maddow are non-stop obnoxious. Butch offered that a Palin Countdown to Termination would be expected:

This has been greeted with such shock — and with every salacious detail about stuff that wasn’t vetted coming to the floor seemingly with each hour of the news cycle — it is becoming less likely by the hour that Palin will still be John McCain’s nominee even by the end of the week.

and Milky and Butch that Palin is Anti-Semitic:

MATTHEWS: Is it true that she believes that God supports the war in Iraq? How does she know?

MADDOW: Was she sitting in the pew in her church in Wasilla two weeks ago when a speaker said that the Israelis deserve terrorist attacks, because Jews are unbelievers in Christ?

MADDOW: That was in the Politico today. Jews for Jesus founder speaking at her church while she was there two weeks ago making incredibly, incredibly out of line comments about Israel and Jewish people. These are tough questions she'll have to answer.

MATTHEWS: Pro or con?

MADDOW: Saying that's why Israel was subject to terrorist attacks. It was God's judgment for not believing in Christ.

MATTHEWS: What's the source?

MADDOW: Politico.com

All the while Milky was whining to every Dream Team Panelist - getting paid by the way from NBC, Lard Ass Olbermann interrupted while thumbing through the latest reports of Savanah Something - 'PALIN went to Six! Count 'em Six colleges! We'll have more on this late breaking wind as it develops!'

Air Biscuit again, Lard Ass!

As Tubby would manage to screw-up 'The Fault, dear Brutes Us, Lies not in OUR Stars (MSNBC) but in Dan Abrams!!! Yeah he did it! Fire Him!!!! I'm Keith Olbermann!!!!
Good Luck!!!!'

It is you, you morons! You are the guilty parties in this political smear and everyone knows it! You - NBC, MSNBC and the Tools that Stooge There - are guilty!

Not only that, you morons, you tossed your lawyer's Kid! Butch is taking Dan's Show!

You clowns! I hope none of these rats get off of the sinking NBC -Ship of Fools!

McCain/Palin: McCain -A Life of Duty & Service v. Obama - A Narrative Tailor-Made

In Sixty days I will vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin. I have known and met Barack Obama over the last fifteen years. For fourteen of them Barack Obama was an up-and coming local Democratic politician of whom everyone said 'He's going places!'

He's there. Barack Obama and the people he chose over the last two years to build him up, primarily Dave Axelrod, have crafted a narrative built upon the familiar rhetoric of Progressive Democratic Doctrine and Obama has never drifted from that narrative. It worked and he is the Democratic nominee for President and significantly the first black American to be the Democratic nominee. That's it.

I watched as Obama distanced himself from the very people who helped bring him onto the gradus ( the political steps) and to Illinois prominence and embrace the people who wrote his resume - Community Organizer, State Senator and Prophet of Hope and Change. He had other friends of very dubious agenda and intentions ( Ayers, Wright, Rezko & etc. in politics one does meet snakes along with bunny rabbits; a good politician steps over the snakes). Had Obama ascended the political gradus, but that would have taken too long, he might have become the Governor of Illinois. Instead, he chose the Senate. That gave him national cache - kind of like using a Mastercard Gold Card, instead of paying with cash you've earned.

In contrast, John McCain did the work of his country. When I decided McCain was for me he was a pariah, because of his heroic decision to fight with Ted Kennedy fro Immigration Reform - Juan McNasty, Wet-back Juan. Rock-ribbed GOP stalwarts dismissed the Warrior as 'Toast'- 'Stick a Fork in McCain; He's Done!' Immigration Reform was soundly defeated. McCain soldiered on.

Last night, John McCain called America. He called on Americans to fight corruption in government; to right our Economy through tax-cuts and using American genius to free this country from foreign energy dependence; face down Islamic Terrorists and the Kleptocracy of Vlad Putin; to fight the hideous curse of Abortion, to fight for the civil rights issue of this century - School Choice.

Obama wants issues - says he does, but sings lyrics to the Rock Opera of Progressivism. I have not heard one thing that Obama offers to right the economy other than raise taxes. Obama says 'only the rich.' Well, things have a way of getting back to us - like the flimsy rhetoric of Mastercard Gold. Everybody pays. Progressive Doctrine demands that others pay and pay and pay - Demand Programs! Programs are funded by the taxes of carpenters, millwrights, electricians, teachers, cops and nurses. Programs mean that a bureaucracy is born and feeds at the trough of more taxes.

McCain acts. American are doers, inventors, builders, care-givers, fighters and custodians of the weak, the disabled, and should be - of the unborn.

Sixty Days. You have had my vote Senator and those of my son and daughter. That's three and that is a good start in Precinct 23 of 19th Ward in Chicago.

McCain/Palin- Sun Times Stuck on Stupid - Read This Idiotic Editorial on Sarah Palin's Speech! Wear Your Depends -or Borrow Some!

Hat Tip to my Pal Steve Rhodes at Beachwood Reporter! Thanks Steve! Have a Falstaff Son!

I did not get around to peeking at 'The Progressive Independent Voice of Chicago' this morning, as I was busy doing what most Americans do - taking care of kids, getting to work and actulaly doing something when I get there! Never on Queen's Time!

So, I turned to the Beachwood Reporter to get an update on Chicago Media Moon-Howlers!

Never disappointed - Heeyah 'Tis - The Sun Times (STNG) in all of its suicidal glory (excerpt of course)!

. . .Because his pick for vice president, Sarah Palin, is woefully unprepared to be Leader of the Free World.

Does this sound harsh? We know it does, though we mean no disrespect. Our sincere hope is that McCain, a good and brave American, lives a long and healthy life. But when the senator chose Alaska Gov. Palin to be his running mate, and in doing so deemed her fit to stand a heartbeat from the presidency, he either demonstrated phenomenally bad judgment or put politics ahead of country.

Palin has almost no experience on the national or international stage. She has virtually no qualifications to be commander in chief. She is the former mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, a town about the size of a couple of Chicago high schools. She has been governor for 20 months of a wilderness state with a population of 684,000 -- about the number of folks in Will County.

And the more Palin's GOP defenders contort themselves to defend her credentials, attempting to inflate the uninflatable, the more obviously thin her resume looks.

Asked by a CNN reporter what qualifies Palin to be commander in chief of America's armed forces, a McCain aide pointed out that, as governor, Palin "commanded" the Alaska National Guard. The reporter then asked, to no avail, for a single instance in which Palin had involved herself in the business of the Guard.

A commentator for the conservative National Review generously granted Palin "foreign policy" experience solely on the basis of geography -- Alaska is next to Russia and borders Canada. If the commentator knew of any Palin-Putin talks, he failed to mention them.

Jimmy the Two-Headed Boy, or most De LaSalle Graduates could understand Palin's speech last night. Not Chicago's 'Progressive Independent Voice' - they are waiting for John McCain to explain it to them - Senator, Read Slowly!!!!!!!!! Use Pictures!

MSNBC - TheTool Shed: The Clowns Want to Play Hamlet! Palin Pulled Their Motley Pantaloons ( Armani of Course)!

Browkaw, Matthews, Maddow, Olbermann, and Gregory! The MSNBC Tool Shed Side-Show had their britches yanked; got caught fibbing; been confronted with their folly and yet demand that they be taken with a scintilla of seriousness in the light oftheir having been:

1. Long in the Tank for Obama

2. Slanted any and all coverage against McCain and for Obama

3. Engaged in the ugliest and most unbecoming smear assaults on Governor Sarah Palin and her family

4. Out Shout any answer to a question for which they demand 'their answer to their questions'

5. Insult the viewer.

Clowns who want to be treated like Barrymores.

Take a look at this from Newsbusters:

8:18pm]

MATTHEWS: Let's be clear about this, tremendous support from the Washington media. John McCain is an immensely popular figure among the Washington media. He used to say that the press was his base. I mean I’m sure we have that on tape, many places. Because he did enjoy, when he went out with the Straight Talk Express on his wonderful bus trips, I was on, among that happy band on occasion. There was tremendous camaraderie. What he deals with now is the reality that in, it doesn't have to do with party politics or ideology.

But there is always a love of the new. There's always an appeal of the new. Let's face it. The governor of Alaska will benefit from some of that. Barack Obama's benefitted from that. The new kid on the block, whether it's Bill Clinton or it's, or it's Ronald Reagan, in a sense, back in '80. The new kid gets the appeal. The news business, I think, does like the new. It may like the young as well, although not always. Because I thought Ronald Regan got a fabulous press! And Pat Buchanan would even admit it, I think, under sodium pentothal. But the fact is that this-

BUCHANAN: You think the media is in love with Sarah Palin?!

MATTHEWS: I think the media is in love with the story Pat, because it’s a fascinating story. And I’ll tell ya this, if she gets up there tonight and gives a whale of a speech, you’re gonna hear it like Sardie’s after a big Broadway smash.

BUCHANAN: Right.

MATTHEWS: All tonight people will say how great she did. You can predict it.

BUCHANAN: Alright.

MATTHEWS: Nobody's going to deny her a successful night, if that's the case.

BUCHANAN: Alright well let me ask you. Will you, will you say it sent a tingle up your leg?

MATTHEWS: Pat I have always, a multifaceted reporter, and I do report fully on my experiences in the hall. And when you get a new line let me know, will ya buddy? It’s a little tired by now, but it's a good one.

David, we're, but let me go to David who's on the floor right now to get, to see if he has a full report. David is this the buzz right now? The incipient war between the almost, the old Goldwater establishment in terms of its attitude towards the Eastern media? As Tom Brokaw pointed out. This is an on, an old, old conflict and it may be a useful one to the Republican Party.

...

America - kick these clowns to the curb!

McCain/Palin: Sarah Palin Opens America's Dutch Door and Bids All Welcome Home

A Dutch door is rarely seen in Chicago anymore. There were still many homes that had them in rural Kankakee County where I was a baby teacher.

I liked them. They were welcoming, but also set a condition - belong here. They were at once a means of keeping out dangers to the home, and all the while a portal for bringing light and fresh air into the home.

Last night, while watching Sarah Palin make her acceptance speech at the RNC in St. Paul, I was reminded of the Dutch doors. Sarah Palin invited America to meet her family and strongly set the conditions of just who the Palin's are, where they come from and how they expect all of us to behave when with them. Sarah Palin explained her path onto the national stage. Palin presented the motives and methods that mark her career outside of her home. Governor Palin detailed the struggles in her State to make the best return on each voter's expectations for government and the means by which she was able to return those dividends on honest government to that voter.

More importantly, Gov. Sarah Palin set the rules for political engagement which allows her opponents to clearly understand that, when a Chicago politician brings a handgun to a political knife-fight, he can expect to be met with a round from a howitzer long before he pulls the trigger.

The Top half of the Dutch Door is open and the bottom half barred those who would do her family harm, or sully their lives for political gain. Last night, Sarah Palin made a powerful decision. God help the poor creature invited through the open door who violates that trust - man, beast or agenda.

Sarah Palin threw the bolt down from the top half of the Dutch door and tossed the full portal open and invited every American into her home. The fresh air and the warmth of the fire is welcome. You have been invited - behave accordingly.

MSNBC's Chris 'Milky' Matthews Starring As Fred Willard in Best in Show at RNC

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buck Laughlin: Excuse me if this off the subject a little bit, but just take a guess at how much I can bench press. Come on, what do you think? Take a guess. 315 pounds, at the top of my game, maxing out at 500!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buck Laughlin: Now tell me, which one of these dogs would you want to have as your wide receiver on your football team?

I just caught Milky Matthews doing his faux tough-guy/genuine nut-ball shout over of a U.S. Congressman and a Senior McCain Advisor concerning Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's much anticipated speech at the Republican National Convention.

Like a Ritz Brothers movie on TCM it is hard to reproduce, but catch Milky on You Tube. I was reminded of the great Fred Willard in Best of Show - Dog Show Play-by-Play Man Buck Laughlin:

McCain Aid: Gov. Palin . . .

MILKY: How about it you two Is there a Woman out there - She is Gender Specific now that must be her ONLY reason for being on the ticket How about it?

Congressman: No, I

MILKY: You Gotta be kidding! You are Kidding me! She's a Beauty Contest Winner!

McCain Aid: Chris . . .

MILKY: Don't Interrupt . . .This is Hardball . . . I ask the questions here. Now Scranton where I'm from and was an altar boy who can still recite the Sucipiate Can Either of You? I'm a Speechwriter! Where's my copy of Palin's Speech. Why did I not get a call from her? Did you Congressman? No! I thought not! .........

Then it went surreal from there. Milky tried to do a Nuremberg on the two.

MSNBC is a joke. A sad, sad joke. Matthews needs straight jacket. Olbermann needs an enema. MSNBC should have its plug pulled.

Milky - Who's Piling On? Who Name Names!

MSNBC Milky that would be you and Olberbore and Butchie Maddow.

Obama Trolls Spew Anti-Semitic Hate on Joe Lieberman

Click my Post Title for the Jew Baiting Talking Points of Obama Supporter Will from NYC on Illinois Review- This is Hope and Change!

All those Media wheezers with their panties in a twist over the Vetting Process might - might mind you which means it will not happen - want to thumb back a few pages and re-visit the Rantings of the Man Who Baptized Obama - Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Joe Lieberman gave a great pitch to my fellow Democrats. Vote Country - Vote McCain/Palin!

Here is what we can expect from the other side:

Lieberman needs to brush up on his colleagues' voting records before he makes such claims. As Patrick Barry points out:

Obama? Cutting off funding for the troops? I wonder if Lieberman is thinking about H.R. 1591, an emergency bill that would have approved $1 billion for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Actually that can't be it because John McCain decided not to support the troops by voting against that bill. Barack Obama on the other hand, supported the legislation. Or maybe Lieberman is referring to the 2nd version of the bill, the one approved by the Senate 51-46? Well that can't be it either, since John McCain didn't show for that vote. Barack Obama did though, and again, he voted for it.

you people don't get how badly you are being lied to... see above. They purposely get the facts wrong to fit their agenda...

you're all playing with the devil when you run with the GOP.

Lieberman is Jew and Jews cannot be trusted... they have rejected salvation and are the instruments of satan....

Rachel Maddow -Palin Drone: 'Butch You Got the Show! Try and Pretend to Read the News Anyway.'

I caught a snatch of Rachel 'Butch' Maddow on the radio coming into work this morning. As the only voice on MSNBC giving off any trace of testosterone, Maddow works up the volume and speed in wall-papering over any pretensions of dialog on MSNBC.

Now, it seems that her sole task is to bring down Sarah Palin.

Butch, you're in over your head - out of your element. Palin is not some back-slding guest of Ellen Degeneres or one of the geldings with whom you work! Palin hunts Griz! Hunts Oil Companies! Takes down, dresses and mounts the heads of Republican and Democratic pocket stuffers.

Cheerleading for Kid Hope is one thing, but Sarah Palin will eat your liver. Which might be a fine learning experience for you.

McCain/Palin: McCain-Undefeated -Palin-UnImpeachable & Barack Obama-Unvetted! Well Said, Fred!

Last night Fred Thompson tossed the GOP, disaffected Democrats like this Old Boyo, and Independents a slab of Red Meat.

a man who never quits is never defeated.

Because John McCain stood up our country is better off.

The respect he is given around the world is not because of a teleprompter speech designed to appeal to American critics abroad, but because of decades of clearly demonstrated character and statesmanship.

There has been no time in our nation’s history, since we first pledged allegiance to the American flag, when the character, judgment and leadership of our President was more important.

Terrorists, rogue nations developing nuclear weapons, an increasingly belligerent Russia.

Intensifying competition from China.

Spending at home that threatens to bankrupt future generations. For decades an expanding government ... increasingly wasteful and too often incompetent.

To deal with these challenges the Democrats present a history making nominee for president.

History making in that he is the most liberal, most inexperienced nominee to ever run for President. Apparently they believe that he would match up well with the history making, Democrat controlled Congress. History making because it’s the least accomplished and most unpopular Congress in our nation’s history.

Together, they would take on these urgent challenges with protectionism, higher taxes and an even bigger bureaucracy.

And a Supreme Court that could be lost to liberalism for a generation.

This is not reform.

And it’s certainly not change.

It is basically the same old stuff they’ve been peddling for years. America needs a President who understands the nature of the world we live in.

A President who feels no need to apologize for the United States of America.

We need a President who understands that you don’t make citizens prosperous by making Washington richer, and you don’t lift an economic downturn by imposing one of the largest tax increases in American history.

John McCain - enough said.

Sarah Palin - This tough, talented and tried woman has more experience in her clutch bag than the Junior Senator of Illinois has in the all the boxes of hidden documents at Un iveristy of Illinois -Chicago and then some.

Barack leaped over the gradus with the lines and pulleys fabricated by the Progressives who hold the DNC. The Media want Obama to be President- CNN rushed investigators to Moose Country, but never once sent anyone to visit the unemployed Steelworkers to whom Barack Obama said that he gave so much HOPE. Did they vet all that Hope in Hegewisch and Roseland and Pullman? Nope. No follow-up on Crazy Uncle Jere, now building a MacMansion in white Tinley Park. No interest in Billy Ayers who bombed buildings and worse and had his wired Daddy get him off the hook. No vetting. No nothing.

Bud White at No Quarter posed these nuggetsfor the Media to gnaw on.
1. Trinity United Church of Christ. Obama’s 20-year membership in an explicitly racist church, a church with rhetoric too hot for Oprah.
2. Rezko. Obama’s ties to Tony Rezko and the 2005 purchase of the Obamas’ home. Obama funnelling money to Rezko’s sleazy businesses.
3. Ayers. Obama’s extensive ties to unrepentant terroist Bill Ayers.
4. Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC). Obama and Ayers together dispensing tens of millions of dollars supposedly for educational organizations. Although now just being investigated, it’s known that money was funnelled to Ayers’ friend, radical Mike Klonsky, a founding member of the Maoist Party of the United States.
5. Minister Louis Farrakhan. Obama is surrounded by people like Rev. Willie Barrow, a friend and admirer of the anti-white, anti-Semitic Farrakhan.

The Obama Campaign and their Propaganda arm at MSNBC, CNN, Time-Warner, NBC, The Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, and the Chicago Sun Times are chasing their tails like Lanigan's Dog on bennies. You would think that would be news. Shucks, I do.

Democrats Mouthpiece Steve McMahon: Even KOS Hates Him: Too Proud to Honor Our President?

Getting Clare dinner before St. Cajetan's Basketball - I caught Howard Dean wizard Steve McMahon proving that the Democratic Party needs a high colonic;

I voted Republican twice in my life. The first time was in 1972, when the Democratic Party was high jacked in Miami and again, this February when I proudly voted for John McCain.

McGovern allowed the worst elements in our Party hold its soul hostage, only to be released when Mayor Richard J. Daley was brought back in to elect Jimmy Carter. Carter craw fished back to the worst elements and was himself tossed. I stayed loyal.

I worked and voted against President Bush twice. The same with his old man. I never held a political job in my life.

I caught Steve McMahon and now I may go off the reservation altogether. I did not vote for president Bush but I honor both the Man and the Office. The Democratic Party is no longer Andy Jackson, Harry Truman, Scoop Jackson or Daniel P. Moynihan. The Democratic Party is now Steve McMahon, a pasty faced Irish gobshite, who would make a great addition to a Federal Prison Farm.

Listening to this jerk mock the Man and the Office - The President of the United States makes me ashamed of my Party, as much as the callow disregard for children and arrogance of the American Bishops in pedophile scandal make me ashamed of my Church - not my Faith only the institution.

The Church will right itself. It has done so many times over the last 2,000 years. Maybe, the Democratic Party will do so once again. John McCain and Sarah Palin embody the very qualities that once were the Democratic Party. Now, Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow do just that.

The Democratic Party is Michael Moore, who prayed that Gustav would come and visit disaster upon suffering New Orleans.

The Democratic Party is CNN, Time-Warner, Billy Ayers, Tom Hayden, Group Think and MSNBC. Democrats no longer fight like men. They parse; play gotcha; equivocate; and compromise. The DNC is the death of the Democratic Party. They were murdered like the nephews of Richard III - in their sleep. Killing children is OK with the DNC. They had Pink T-Shirts made to that effect when my boy Kerry got his rump gnawed upon.

Local Democrats can count on me. They will have my vote, because they share my values. Not any DNC sponsored candidate. When men like Tennessee's Harold Ford take control -give me a call. Until then, I will never vote for another Democrat at the National Level.

Americans are served by the President of United States.

I Fully Support Vice President Sarah Palin It's Easy.

This is from a pal of mine in Texas.

I support 100% the nomination of Governor Sarah Palin for Vice President and stand in sympathy and support of the Palin family during this challenging time that they face with their daughter Bristol.

I pronounce anathema on the subhuman slime who first spread baseless and abhorrent rumors about Gov. Palin's fifth child being her daughter Bristol's child and upon the feckless filth who subsequently are twisting the announcement of Bristol's pregnancy into a grotesque attack upon Bristol and upon Sarah's fitness to serve in office and judgmental condemnation of the Palin family parenting skills.

And I entertain utter disdain for those media personages and media organization in this fine land who have prostituted all journalistic principles and brought down American political discourse to uprecedented and inconceivable depths of degradation, tearing down hitherto unbreached barriers of ethical restraint, in their persecution of Bristol Palin and their lust to destroy by innuendo and guilt-by-parentage the political career of Gov. Palin for strictly partisan and vindictive reasons unmoored from any sense of honesty or integrity.

McCain/Palin: STNG's Mary Mitchell -The Cynthia McKinney of the Media!

You want wild; You want edgy; You want a Cynthia McKinney to read over the Cruller and Coffee; You want Mary Mitchell!

Mary Mitchell and Green POTUS candidate Cynthia McKinney will give you a wild, edgy, eyeball popping perspective on anything. McKinney is a 9/11 theorist, demands that the sealed records on the late Tupac Shakur become public, called the impeachment of G.W.Bush, and is a cop hater. Her Congressional District tossed McKinney, who was no Zell Miller, and McKinney found a snug fit in the Green Party.

The Chicago Sun Times eight-sixed edgy and wild editor Cheryl Reed when the Chicago newspaper took a seventy degree plunge in sales last year. However, the main mast for edgy, wild, eyeball popping perspective of columnist Mary Mitchell keeps the course.

Today's perspective gins up the hate on a seventeen year old pregnant girl, her family in Alaska and the Republicans ( code for white people). Since it is on Gov.Saraha Palin, GOP V.P. Nominee, that is just ducky with a mongosappy Celtic slang ink slinger with world class pie retention as Mary Mitchell. Mary especially detests the Irish - they livein Mount Greenwood and are racists. Mary hates most white people given the tenor of her columns - I can not remember one that dealt with anything but the theme of race hate. Mary Mitchell understands that white people can not breath without race hate. Fasten your straight jackets you are on Mary Mitchell's bus! Here goes:

"Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news, that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents," Sarah and Todd Palin said in a statement released Monday.

Malarkey.

When an unmarried 17-year-old girl comes up pregnant on the South Side of Chicago, Republicans don't make it sound like a beautiful thing.

They call it tragic and a moral failure, and they often blame the teen's parents.

There's no way to put a positive spin on a teen in this kind of trouble.

Indeed, teenage pregnancies rose by 3 percent between 2005 and 2006, the first increase since 1991, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Unfortunately, leaders like Palin are part of the problem.

When she was running for governor in 2006, Palin said she would fund abstinence-only programs and that "explicit sex-ed programs" would not get her support.

But studies have proven that abstinence-only programs alone don't work.

Given her daughter's predicament, Palin might want to rethink her position.

Although it sounds nice that Bristol will be marrying the "young man" who fathered her child, the fact of the matter is marriage is hard work for adults, let alone a teenager.

And when 17-year-old girls decide to throw caution to the wind and risk their sexual health by having unprotected sex, then they haven't been paying attention to the messages adults have been sending.

But Palin, who is being touted as the down-to-earth candidate who can appeal to the working class, sounded like any other politician when she talked about her daughter's "news."

"Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family," Palin said.

More malarkey.

This is not good news, nor is it something the average woman wants to deal with, especially in the public arena.

Palin should have acknowledged the disappointment and pain any mother feels when she learns her teenage daughter has stumbled onto this tough road.

But Palin hid behind scripted words and blew the chance to have an honest dialogue about a problem that affects Republicans and Democrats alike.

Still, some good can come from all of this after all.

Conservatives like Palin have been hard on young, unwed, pregnant women in urban areas.

Maybe now that she is in the same boat, they'll show a little more compassion.

Yep, a private matter of family of five living in Alaska is all about race!

Malarkey is an Irish word, Mary. So is Bollocks. Your work Mary is a consistent Air Biscuit!

\Senator Obama says that he is 'offended' by anyone who would attempt to capitaliaze on this private and personal matter regarding the children of a candidate - but then again, Mary Mitchell wonders if Barack is 'black enough!'

You feeling Mary, Senator? She worried last August that Barack Obama was not 'black enough'

Are Barack and Michelle Obama black enough?" ( Well, who is?)

Michelle Obama, the wife of Sen. Barack Obama, grew up in a working-class family on the South Side. She attended Chicago Public Schools, went to Princeton, became a lawyer and married her husband before giving birth to her daughters. In her words, she did exactly what black leaders told her to do. So while the question of whether her husband, who is of mixed race, is "black enough" to win over the majority of black voters keeps popping up, his brown-skinned wife knows this isn't a new battle.

"The truth of the matter is that as I was growing up, talking too proper, going to certain schools, people told me that...there is a part in which we are still struggling as a people with what is black," Michelle Obama told me.

Mary Mitchell makes Cynthia McKinney seem like Cindy McCain. You get paid, fair play to you Mary! It is what is left of the Sun Times money and they can toss anyway they wish - and they do!

Roll Over Bakunin! MTV Generation Anarchists Help St. Paul Police Keep the Peace! The Irony of Generation Stupid

Aint got nothin to lose.
Roll over Bakunin and tell Kropotkin the news.

Thousands Protest ( 5 arrested); now that's Change I can Believe in! Today's anarchists - pasty dweebs who live in Mom's basement eating Pop-Tarts, Watching VH-1, MSNBC and Cable Porn - are on the march in St. Paul. MSNBC is watching! Everyone else has Tivo ( 'except me -too cheap).

The Republican National Convention is up and running.

Here is an AP report on the MTV Anarchists:

Police said the size of the crowd shifted during the day before estimating it in the range of 8,000 to 10,000, many of whom marched peacefully. The arrests occurred in confrontations several blocks from the Xcel Energy Center where the GOP gaveled its convention to order in late afternoon. A handful of people were arrested for lighting a dumpster on fire and pushing it into a police car, said St. Paul police spokesman Tom Walsh.

Instead of a single coherent march that organizers had hoped for, fringe groups of anarchists and others wrought havoc along the streets between the state Capitol and the convention site. Some anarchists who had started the trash bin fire later tried to block a major intersection. Police quickly dispersed the group, then shot two tear gas canisters at the fleeing anarchists.

The commitment of these Later Day Anarchists (holding Mastercard Gold in their Fendi Men's clutch bags) inspires genuine giggles.

Out of Chaos comes Order! Nice working with you, kids! You can not beat stupid! You do not need to do so!

Old Mike would be thrilled, Kids! Nice work St. Paul Police Department!

$un Time$'$ $need $hape$ $heckel$ $aga - as Opposed to Convention Coverage

Today's Michael Sneed coverage of the GOP Convention in St. Paul - says it all.

$$$$$: The decision to turn the Republican National Convention into a "fund-raiser" for Hurricane Gustav victims is at this juncture: whether to make it a telethon or an Internetathon.

. . .
• • $$$$$$: There are 100 Fortune 500 companies represented in the St. Paul-Minneapolis area, and the Republican arm is being put on them to raise and/or give cash to charities helping hurricane victims.

Postcards from St. Paul . . .
• • $$$$$: A top RNC official told Sneedthat McCain's campaign has raised about $7.5 million on the Internet since his selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate.

• • $$$$$: The big GOP worry? Bigbucks Mitt Romney donors in Illinois may zip up their wallets because McCain did not choose Romney as his running mate.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. What an A$$hle! Sneedle$$ to $Ay!

Obermann & Maddow: Tubby and Butch Dish the Bitch on Gov. Palin and Her Family:MSNBC-The Tool Shed

Click my post title for one of the Reasons why Obama's Campaign is going down like The Atlantic's Andrew Sullivan on 'a greased pole' - to quote British Statesman Benjamin Disreali. It's a You Tube Video of Olbermann and Maddow. I would love to arrange a double date between Tubby and Butch and Mr. & Mrs Palin - out in some private isolated field where the two couples might express their genuine feelings in a very open, frank and physically robust manner. This video could get things rolling nicely.
The two most obnoxious dweebs in America attempt to insult Governor Palin, her children especially her son soon to deployed to Iraq, and the values that most Americans hold with regard to Faith, Country and Family. Olbermann and Maddow have done as much for Barack Obama's run at history as they have for MSNBC- The Tool Shed!
Thanks, Tubby and Butch! Keep up the great work! It is refreshing to have a Vice Presidential Candidate for whom Maddow and I share a powerful admiration - no, not Joe Biden. 'Tick, tick, tick. .'

Labor Day: God Bless All Working People & Save All from Redistribution of Wealth Scams!

He's facing the job - too many Americans have turned their backs on what the skilled American Tradesman is doing.

This Labor Day - try and remember that thousands of people struggled and many died for the right to form Unions. These Unions of skilled trades and industrial workers moved America's poor in to the great middle class that created the standard of living enjoyed by no other Nation in History.

Let's not be fooled by the enemies of that standard of living on the political radical Right or the Left. 'Redistribution of Wealth' strategies are the latest phony labor Ponzi scams - stay true to genuine Labor Unions. Real Labor gives people the skills to move to the next economic level and engages in collective bargaining to protect workers rights, health and welfare and above all safety on the job. Labor is not merely a lobbying tool for slick political agendas.

Most of all let's remember the people who stood on the picket lines and suffered the lock-outs to make the American Dream come true.

God Bless the Working Woman and Man! Honor Labor!

Pray for all Americans in the Path of Gustav!
