Ignore Pfleger and His Stunts - Keep Civil. Keep the Peace and Pfleger Loses

The Dan Ryan March gambit is only one incendiary in fiery Pastor Pfleger's arsenal. It is not a a nuclear bomb.  It is a a sparkler meant to put out the eyes of fair-minded people.

Getting fair-minded people blinded is what Michael Pfleger is all about.

Once people are blinded to his motives (accumulation of power, money and media focus) they depend upon others to lead them about in the darkness.

Fair-minded people blinded by Pfleger's sparklers go silent to his most egregious deeds and words and say things like, " Well, Father Mike really cares and has done great things for his people."

Name two things?

Thought so.

This latest stunt is meant to force politicians to bully business and philanthropy to peel off a few more millions for projects with Pfleger's imprimatur - nothing more. Pflger might even toss Base a bone, because Cardinal Kilroy Was Here got behind Blond Jesus again.

Full disclosure, I know Michael Pfleger and you can have him.   He is a brilliant, calculating Munchhausen.  If you were as 'afflicted and assaulted' as much as Pfleger, you would be pretty secure. No is after him; never were.

I have known the pastor of the Faith Community of St. Sabina  since July 1996, when I went to work for Leo High School, just east of his fiefdom that includes the Great Auburn Gresham Community Development , senior residences, real estate holdings on 76th Street and other Michael Pfleger Industries.

Leo Principal and CEO Bob Foster sent me over to meet with Pfleger, my first week on the job.  We met in the St. Sabina rectory.  Pfleger told me that he was more a "prophet than a priest."  I could not supress a laugh and Michael Pfleger redened to purple - meeting over.

Foster agreed with me.  He is a dangerous guy.

While at Leo High School, I learned exactly who Michael Pfleger is and what he is all about - Michael Pfleger.  In my time at Leo High School, Pfleger

  • Co-opted the Chicago Sun Times ( Kathleen Falsani and Editors) into creating a controversy where none existed - the Southwest Catholic Conference, while Cardinal George was in Poland.
  • Covertly worked with the Jesuits to establish an independent school on the site St. Killian's Parish to construct a Christo Rey knock-off unique to the African American community
  • Pfleger and ABC Channel Seven created a story that 'Cardinal George wanted to make Michael Pfleger' President of Leo High School and Pfleger told NPR's Tavis Smiley and Cornel West that 'Leo could not survive' without him
In case Pfleger denied any ill-will toward Leo.  Leo President Bob Foster is the only man alive who could make Pfleger blush and run out of the room in shame.  Foster did just that by directly confronting Pfleger with proof of his back-handed schemes and attempts to take over the school.

Foster did not threaten.  He confronted Pfleger with evidence - a business prospectus that included Pfleger's salary demands and personal governance rubrics.   The document was given to Leo High School by a Roman Catholic nun working on the project.

The second time was in a governance meeting at the Office of Catholic Schools, which Pfleger had absolutely no stake in concerning the future of Leo High School and had no business being at the meeting.  Members of Leo 's Advisory Board were present and Dr. Nick Wolsonovich, former Supt. of Catholic Schools received a lesson in how to handle an arrogant and shameless opportunist.

Bob Foster noted Pfleger's past attempts to harm Leo High School and the activist jumped up and stormed out of the meeting.

Pfleger's march on the Dan Ryan is not about guns, deaths of innocent people, or bringing people together.  The march is intended to get one white (Caucasian) person to do or say anything that might provoke violence. A full-blown race riot would be just the thing for Michael Pfleger Industries.

Pfleger wants hate mail

Pfleger needs anger.

Pfleger wants no peace.

With peace, justice and love, Pfleger gets no checks from banks. big business and do-gooder 501(c) 3 foundations.

Michael Pfleger has never drawn an un-calculated breath in his life.  He will not change - there is no percentage in it.

Pfleger is not aiming his march at Rahm Emanuel. Were that the case, Phleger would shut down Navy Pier, or the Skyway that Daley sold off.

Pfleger wants angry white people to overreact.

Give him your love and your back.

Ignore the phony Pfleger.

Boycott, the media that pumps him up.

Ridicule the politicians, priests, bishops and poltroons to dance to his tunes.

Maybe some Pfleger-sparkler blind people may recover their sight and start working against real racism, bigotry and injustice.

Have a lovely weekend!

John McCain: Obama Padded By Hot House Flowers - Not Reporters

"You will recall that for my entire political career here, I was not the the endorsed candidate of any political organization here," the Democratic presidential hopeful said at the Westin Hotel downtown. "I didn't go around wielding a bunch of clout. My reputation in Springfield was as an independent. There is no doubt I had friends and continue to have friends who come out of the more traditional school of Chicago politics but that's not what launched my political career and that's not what I've ever depended on to get elected, and I would challenge any Chicago reporter to dispute that basic fact."

Why yes, yes I do recall! As memory serves, Lo these many years of your 'entire political career here' in Chicago. However, your reputation was that of a Democratic block voter - really, more of a "Present Voter" in Springfield, IL. But, then I am no reporter for a 'great Metropolitician Newspaper' doing the bidding of a Cheryl Reed - remember Cheryl?

Now lookee, here! In the very same paper, someone other than Abdon Pallasch - whom I teasingly on the square refered to as one of David Brooks's Chicago Hothouse Flowers in a recnt comment in Chicago Daily Observer - the only Independent source in Chicago for news, opinion, witty discourse, snappy patter and slim obfuscation! Abdon had a piece recently on Father Pfleger's return to St. Sabina.

My remarks:

Abdon Pallasch - An Orchid of the Greatest Delicacy!

Cymbidium - Insulated, Sprayed and plucked for impurities by the custodiand of the Chicago Media Hothouses.

Abdon digs for rock-bed truths with a balsa wood shovel!

Ben Hecht with a titwillow's heart!

Today Abdon is shilling for Obama again in the Sun Times, while three other reporters Chris Fusco, Tim Novack and Dave McKinney take up the Obama Challenge and point directly to another Chicago Style opportunist with long ties to Kid Hope!

Davis is a 67-year-old lawyer and real estate developer with long ties to Mayor Daley and Sen. Barack Obama, as well as to the governor.

He served on the Chicago Plan Commission and, with his former law firm, Davis Miner Barnhill & Galland, was a boss to Obama early in the presidential hopeful's career.

Davis was appointed to the unpaid post on the state pension board Feb. 13, 2003. On July 22, 2004, he recommended that the agency give RREEF up to $100 million to invest. RREEF was already handling $55 million for the board.

The next day, Davis voted to approve RREEF's deal.

In February 2005, RREEF agreed to put Davis on its board. He began working as a paid board member that April, state records show.

In a letter that June, Davis notified the pension board of his appointment and said, "To avoid any potential for, or appearance of, a conflict of interest, I will recuse myself from any vote of ISBI having to do with RREEF II."

That was all he needed to do, according to another pension board member, Illinois Appellate Court Justice Thomas E. Hoffman, who was the board's ethics officer. In fact, Hoffman thought Davis' role "was to ISBI's advantage," according to the minutes of the pension board's June 22, 2005, meeting.

Neither Davis nor Hoffman responded to requests for comment.

The State Board of Investment's executive director, William Atwood, calls Davis' service on both boards "an appropriate thing for him to do.

"The whole purpose of that directorship is to oversee the interest of investors," says Atwood. "Who better to do that than a member of our board?"

RREEF executives also defend Davis' arrangement, issuing a statement that says, in part: "Mr. Davis did not become a director of the REIT until several months after ISBI made its commitments, and no additional subscription commitments were made by ISBI after Mr. Davis was elected to the REIT's Board of Directors."

Siedle, the former SEC lawyer, questions why the pension board would want Davis on the investment firm's board. The state pension system's staff could monitor the investment as well as Davis could, says Siedle, who heads Benchmark Financial Services, a Florida firm. Also, Davis could not pass along any sensitive information to the state about RREEF without violating his fiduciary duty as a RREEF board member, he adds.

"Serving on the two boards simultaneously may create conflicting fiduciary duties and other dangers. . . . I can't see any benefit that would justify the risks," Siedle says.

After leaving his law practice, Davis became a developer, partnering on projects with Rezko. At Rezko's trial, prosecutors said Davis suggested to Rezko that "Million Dollar Baby" movie producer Tom Rosenberg -- a Davis friend who headed a pension-investment firm -- could be hit up for campaign contributions to Blagojevich.

Davis' term on the State Board of Investment expired in January 2007. He continues to serve because Blagojevich hasn't reappointed or replaced him.

Senator Obama "would challenge any Chicago reporter to dispute that basic fact."

Hey, How About Three? John Kass has taken up the Obama Challenge! Watch Out, Now! The Oak Lawn Greek is Holding Up Diogenes' Lamp! John Kass might have added this Greek Motto to the Obama Presidential Seal:

Poso kani ?

Vero Possumus! No wonder you goofs dumped that Seal!

Cathleen Falsani Moves From Pfleger to Benson

Not long after Cedric Benson showed contrition Monday for his latest arrest, the Bears showed him the door.

The team released the troubled former first-round draft pick Monday as a result of Benson's arrest early Saturday morning in Austin, Texas, on a charge of driving while intoxicated. It was Benson's second alcohol-related arrest in five weeks and enough to convince the Bears he just wasn't worth the headaches.

"Cedric displayed a pattern of behavior we will not tolerate," general manager Jerry Angelo said. "As I said this past weekend, you have to protect your job. Everyone in this organization is held accountable for their actions. When individual priorities overshadow team goals, we suffer the consequences as a team. Those who fail to understand the importance of 'team' will not play for the Chicago Bears."

Chicago Tribune Click my post title for the real full story.

Now, the Chicago Sun Times fabricated news update!

They print news like it almost happened.

Cathleen Falsani Religion Editor of the Chicago Sun Times had this to say about Benson 'Time Out.'

There's something painfully ironic about Cedric's (if temporary) ouster.

He's been thumbing his nose at authority -- secular and sacred -- for years in pursuit of what he believes God has called him to do: fight for the poor yardage and the press coverage; battle injustice in whatever form it appears to taxing him at the moment, be it racism, sexism, or classicism; and to above all present the God of revolutionary love and radical grace to the world around him like he did when those cracker Texas Gomers boarded his boat. That sometimes has meant disobeying civil and Man law.

Benson has been arrested several dozen times over the last five weeks for civil disobedience. He's taken on drug dealers aboard his boat, big alcohol content while driving, the tobacco products when needed, Jerry Springer for his posse, the guns in lobby of Executive Suites, and gun-toting gang-bangers from his own entourage. He's also run afoul of three splendid theologians of Chicago, beginning with Bishop Manning, who drove no where near him in 2001 and called him ' A Long-legged Mack Daddy,' and who threatened to 'open a can' on him in 2006 when Benson blamed Grossman for all his fumbles.

After three seasons of clashes with authority, Benson's tripping points arrived in a three-minute video clip from a powerful, 47-minute-long sermon on race to the line of scrimmage. In those few moments, Benson, who is not white, made snarky comments about Grossman, who is white, that many people -- the Bear Organization has been inundated with complaints since last week -- thought were racist or sexist or both.

He apologized, but it was too late.

So in the days after Obama became the presumptive Democratic nominee for president -- the first African American to do so in the history of our nation -- Benson, a man who has spent his life fighting for his kind of racial justice, is looking for a place to play.

Beson told me he plans to take his 'Dog,' Armani, whose name is an Italian word for " Glossy Loud and Garish Suit," with him. For company, and, perhaps, as a reminder of what sustains him in good times and in bad. The Bling! God's cool with Cedric and I'm Cool with God! Sin Boldly and Stay Thirsty My Friends!

The Chicago Sun Times will devote 85% of its columns and print space to Justice for Cedric Benson. Carol Marin is expected to make her thoughts public, as far as that goes, on Chicago Tonight. National Public Radio will devote a portion of its taxpayers dollars to the Cedric Beson Recidivist Foundation.

The Faith Community of St. Sabina will hold a news conference in five days announcing Cedric Benson's return, without restrictions, to Bears Camp in Bourbonnais.

Praise Jesus!
