Obama Tax - Not Buffett, Not Reagan, Not JFK, Not Bush, but Maybe the Bono Tax - Hell, Even "U-2" Will Skip to Holland

" And upon this Rock . . .I shall . . .Uh, . . .an Unpresented, er . . ."

Pecunia Non Olet - Money does not stink.

So this President gave another speech where he said it was “crazy” -- that's a quote -- that certain tax loopholes make it possible for multimillionaires to pay nothing, while a bus driver was paying 10 percent of his salary. That wild-eyed, socialist, tax-hiking class warrior was Ronald Reagan.

“He thought that, in America, the wealthiest should pay their fair share, and he said so. I know that position might disqualify him from the Republican primaries these days but what Ronald Reagan was calling for then is the same thing that we’re calling for now: a return to basic fairness and responsibility; everybody doing their part. And if it will help convince folks in Congress to make the right choice, we could call it the Reagan Rule instead of the Buffett Rule.”
President Barack H. Obama

President Obama has fuel for his fires. Like a fourteen year old boy with a box of Blue Tips and a yet un-Green cityscape (formerly called prairies in Chicago) full of cast off Goodyears, Firestones and knock-offs, the President manages to spark distractions from his apologetic, miscued and failed Presidential time served.

Instead of a crafting and presenting a sound bi-partisan path to recovery and prosperity, President Obama has deftly avoided his homework for now going on . . .his full term. Rather, he has chosen to divide the nation by race, class and religion. I guess that is pretty much DNC, MSNBC, ACLU and Planned Parenthood political savvy at work.

In response to no budget at all and as counter to the Ryan Budget, as well as the Obama Deficit Commission's recommendations, President Obama is opting for the Buffett Rule.

Warren Buffett, that is; not Jimmy Buffett. This is the ever-popular tax rich populist, Us v. Them gambit employed with so much heat in Ireland, Portugal and Greece.

Yesterday, President Obama took a page from the Rachel Maddow NHS snarky playbook and tried to stretch the Buffett tax into a Reagan tax. Fair enough. That's savvy politics.

In reality, rich folks no matter how really, really, really committed to Social Justice, Peace, Health and fighting Poverty Globally they might be, their piles of well-earned loot will find a haven from the broiling waters of mandated obligation.

There is no more self-statedly committed Man of the Cause than the Mick singer Bono of the formerly Irish and now global rock band U-2.

U-2 fans wave Irish Tri-colors, the old Orange White and Green and wail the anthems of 'What They Have Been Looking For. . ." U-2 packs the house and the fields beyond, good luck to 'em!

Ireland's economy went down like Bobby Brown. Still on the canvas. Bono preached that the government was obliged to address poverty. The Irish Government complied and set a tax-loophole cap.

Bono and U-2's pounds, crowns, guineas and Euros buggered off to the Netherlands. Rich people can afford sound principled and law abiding financial advice, no matter what one's political, social, moral, and ethical outlook. An avuncularly chubby and charitable candy maker's profits found equally safe and happy returns on their Swiss Bank investments, as any former Geheime Staatspolizei gold tooth collector.

Pecunia Non Olet - unless it is the DNC and Obama Campaign 2012.

President Obama will use any crisis Trayvon Martin, Wisconsin Recall, the up-coming NATO Chicago Weekend, beating the Bishops, or good old MSNBC Class War to squeak out a win in November.

The Buffett tax should be called the Bono Tax, because once Hollywood, Wall Street, Trial Lawyers, Al Sharpton and Michael Moore are asked to buck up, like Bono, they will bugger off.

Picking up the loss of the 1% will be the tax-paying 46%: skilled tradesmen, teachers, cops, firemen. pawn-shop owners and bail-bondsmen.

Pecunia Non Olet. Some people do.

The U2 frontman regularly meets political leaders to lobby on behalf of developing nations and has visited countries including Ethiopia and Mexico to try to improve the lives of the world's poor.

But U2 sparked criticism in 2006 by shifting part of their business affairs from Ireland to the Netherlands
At the time, Irish politicians branded U2's move a cynical ploy, leading to accusations that, while the band were urging the Government to give more money to relieve poverty, they were denying it the funds to do so.

Last year, U2 members were the highest-earning musicians in the world, raking in approximately £80 million.

Protesters also aim to draw attention to what they say is the 'bigger picture' of the impact of tax avoidance on Ireland's economy.

They plan to float an oversized bundle of fake cash across the crowd, from an Irish tricolour on one side of the spectators to a Dutch flag on the other, during the band's set at the rock festival in Somerset on June 24.

Tax expert and anti-poverty campaigner Richard Murphy said: 'If Bono thinks he is A spokesman for U2, who are on tour in Vancouver, was unavailable for comment yesterday and Glastonbury organisers also declined to comment.

The band's manager, Paul McGuinness, has previously claimed: 'U2 is a global business and pays taxes globally... at least 95 per cent of U2's business takes place outside of Ireland and as a result the band pays many different kinds of taxes all over the world.'

Bono has been reluctant to explain the tax strategy, but the band's guitarist The Edge has admitted: 'Of course we want to be tax-efficient – who doesn't?'

A Catholic Founding Father Speaks to the Obama Regime

"Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and pure (and) which insures to the good eternal happiness, are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments." Charles Carroll* (September 19, 1737 – November 14, 1832)

Save it, Charlie. Too much money in abortions -the original hate crime - and our President is all for it. President Obama compromises in an empty room. We'll need to vote his regime out.

Charles Carroll of Carrollton
1737-1832

Representing Maryland at the Continental Congress

by Ole Erekson, Engraver, c1876, Library of CongressBorn: September 19, 1737
Birthplace: Annapolis, Md.
Education: Jesuits' College at St. Omar, France; seminary in Rheims; Graduate, College of Louis the Grande; Bourges; studies in Paris; Studies, apprenticeship in London. (Scholar, Lawyer)
Work: Member of first Maryland Committee of Safety, Provincial Congress, 1775; Delayed member of Continental Congress, August, 1776, Signed Declaration of Independence; Appointed to board of War, 1776; Elected to Senate of Maryland, 1781; Elected U.S. Senator from Maryland, 1788, returned to Maryland Senate 1789-'99.
Died: November 14, 1832

Charles Carroll was born into a wealthy Roman Catholic family in Annapolis Maryland. He began his rather remarkable formal education at the age of 8, when he was packed off to France to attend a Jesuit College at St. Omer. He graduated the College of Louis the Grande at age Seventeen and continued practical studies in Europe until, at the age of 28, he returned to his home. Into the radical climate produced by the Stamp Act, walked a Highly refined Gentleman with all of the education and experience that might be expected of an emissary of the finest courts in Europe. Charles Carroll is said to have identified with the radical cause at once, and he proceeded to work in the circles of American patriots. In 1772 he anonymously engaged the secretary of the colony of Maryland in a series of Newspaper articles protesting the right of the British government to tax the colonies without representation.

Carroll was an early advocate for armed resistance with the object of separation from Gr. Britain. However, his native colony was less certain in this matter and did not even send a representative to the first Continental Congress. He served on the first Committee of Safety, at Annapolis, in 1775, and also in the Provincial Congress. He visited the Continental Congress in 1776, and was enlisted in a diplomatic mission to Canada, along with Franklin and Chase. Shortly after his return, the Maryland Convention decided to join in support for the Revolution. Carroll was elected to represent Maryland on the 4th of July, and though he was too late to vote for the Declaration, he did sign it.

He served in the Continental Congress, on the Board of War, through much of the War of Independence, and simultaneously participated in the framing of a constitution for Maryland. In 1778 he returned to Maryland to participate in the formation of the state government. He was elected to the Maryland Senate in 1781, and to the first Federal Congress in 1788. He returned again to the State Senate in 1790 and served there for 10 years. He retired from that post in 1800.

Charles Carroll was the last surviving member of those who signed the Declaration. He died, the last survivor of the signers of the Declaration, in 1832 at the age of 95.

Gimlet Eye on “Chicago Way” - Joel Kotkin Excoriates The City that Shirks

Blago got 14 years. He got fourteen years, because he is a goof and was a very easy target for Federal Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald. Fitzy does not harpoon Moby Dick; he nets smelt: Rezko, Blago and other ham sammich indictees.

The core of Chicago Style Corruption lies not with the guy asking his precinct captain to go to bat for his kid. Chicago Style Corruption* is not a cop telling you that, "You were travelling $35 over the posted speed limit." Chicago Style Corruption is not some mopey kid sleeping off a hang-over in the back of a Water Department Truct awakened by Dane Placko, Pam Zekman.

Chicago Style Corruption is Lab School. Shakman Decrees were the starting blocks. When political hiring was targeted as the strawman, elected officials danced around its bonfire. No longer would an elected official be required to attend wakes, go church repasts, attend Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll Drives, chat up soft-ball Moms, or actually do something for other people. Shakman freed political powerhouses to shake of the pests with a stentorian, "I'll look into it."

Instead, Policy was crafted to deny, shirk, ignore and dismiss. "Jesus, Guido, can't help you. Shakman. What can I do? Don't forget to pull a straight ticket, Guid. Here's some tickets to my golf outing - there a Hundo each."

Nope. Policy was crafted at University of Chicago, Northwestern, or imported by a 1960's hippie crime expert. The BGA took care of the whistle-blowers. The Media took care of the rest -ignoring policy wrought real estate scams that funneled Housing dollars into the pockets of IVI lawyers turned moguls and their kids. Policy established boards and placed cranks, loudmouths and do-gooders over the street patrolmen.

Blago got fourteen years. George Ryan got six. Rezko got ten and change. Shakman got millions. Pat Quinn got to be Governor, Rahm Mayor and Dawn Clark Netsch a comfy seat on the Ethics panel. Illinois got screwed, blued and tatooed.

John Dewey, not Paddy Bauler, invented our Chicago Style Corruption. Eddie Burke, Eddie Vrdolyk and Mike Madigan are pikers compared to the Judson Miner/Allison Davis ( who can forget Sun Times investigator Tim Novak's incisive reports on Allison Davis and his son Cullen's real estate triumphs and the tragic death of a child?) crowd. Steve Preckwinkle? No relation to Toni's hubby Zeus? Outrageous, to ask such a question. Michael Shakman defending a hot property boon-doggle?Shack them jowls in indignation!!!

Chicago Style Corruption is a co-operative, a coalition of elected officials, academics, real estate players, agenda rangers ( SEIU, Planned Parenthood,LGBTQ,)lawyers and the media. I'll take nickel snitcher anytime. A thief will leave something - even fingerprints. No body steals like Progressive Reformer, because the editorial nodders bleach the crime scenes - unless, you are a Blago.

Chicago and its Daley dictatorship has been much celebrated in the media – particularly after Obama’s election in everything from the liberal New Yorker to Fast Company, which named Chicago “city of the year” in 2008. The following year, the Windy City was deemed the best city for men by Askmen.com, for offering what it claimed was “the perfect balance between cosmopolitan and comfortable, combining all of the culture, entertainment and sophistication of an internationally renowned destination with an affordable lifestyle and down-to-earth work hard/play hard character.”

Well, you can make that case, unless you happen to be searching for a job. Over the past decade, “the Chicago way” has proven more adept at getting good coverage than creating employment for its residents. In Forbes’ last cities rankings greater Chicago ranked 41st out of the 51 largest metropolitan areas. Between 2001 and 2011 it actually lost jobs. Since 2007 the region has lost more jobs than Detroit, and more than twice as many as New York. It has lost about as many jobs – 250,000 – as up and comer Houston has gained. In Forbes recent survey of high-tech performance, the Chicago region stood at a dismal 47th among the nation’s 51 largest metropolitan areas.

Blago is going to the join and the Goo-goo's are going to the bank for a very, very, very long time.

Michael Shakman -The Man Who Bought Chicago -Explains 'Ethics' to Steve Rhodes of the Beachwood Reporter

Photo of Michael Shakman sitting in his office in the late 1970s. Since then, everything has been riding on his hip.

. . .And now from the Way The World Really Works desk here at Grub Street Chicago: Mayor Emanuel is suing his own park district. Why? Because it's part of a strategy to bust up a Daley-era sweetheart deal involving the Park Grill food concession in Millennium Park, which even the Daleys eventually realized was a lousy deal partly owed to the fact that the connected insider behind the restaurant was, well, really inside a female Park District official, ultimately making her pregnant. (The Daleys were always strongly against literal screwing on city business.) The Daley administration argued that the Park District had made a deal that they weren't authorized to make, involving city-owned land, and tried for six years to negotiate a better one (or one that let them in on the action), but didn't get anywhere. Now that the restaurant is negotiating its sale to the Levy Group, Rahm's taking it (and his own Park District) to court to turn up the heat. . . .While we're shedding all our naive illusions, it's worth mentioning that the attorney making this preposterous claim on behalf of well-connected profiteers is none other than Michael Shakman... yes, that Shakman*. Consider this lawsuit just one more skirmish between factions in the eternal struggle for power deep within the Machine."

Chicago Grubstreet

WBEZ, Crains, and the supine Chicago media hoo-hummed a tune of hypocrisy.

God's last honest man, Steve Rhodes, publisher of the Beachwood Reporter, journalist, and tapmaster smelled old halibut in the potpourri

Shakman? Michael Shakman?

Wait a second. Is the Park Grill's lawyer the Michael Shakman?

Readers want to know, WBEZ!

Same to you, Tribune!

Same to you, Sun-Times!

Same to you, Crain's!

(See Ryan C.'s comment.)

Answer: It is.

Shakman Decrees
In 1969, one man made his stand against the Chicago political machine. Michael Shakman, an independent candidate for delegate to the 1970 Illinois Constitutional Convention, battled against one of the most enduring traditions in Chicago's politics: political patronage, or the practice of hiring and firing government workers on the basis of political loyalty. With many behind-the-scenes supporters, Shakman's years of determination resulted in what became known as the “Shakman decrees.”

Shakman filed suit against the Democratic Organization of Cook County, arguing that the patronage system put nonorganized candidates and their supporters at an illegal and unconstitutional disadvantage. Politicians could hire, fire, promote, transfer—in essence, punish—employees for not supporting the system, or more particularly, a certain politician. The suit also argued that political patronage wasted taxpayer money because public employees, while at work, would often be forced to campaign for political candidates.

In 1972, after an exhaustive court procedure and much negotiating, the parties reached an agreement prohibiting politically motivated firings, demotions, transfers, or other punishment of government employees. A 1979 ruling led to a court order in 1983 that made it unlawful to take any political factor into account in hiring public employees (with exceptions for positions such as policy making). Those decisions along with companion consent judgments—collectively called the Shakman decrees—are binding on more than 40 city and statewide offices.

Mr. Shakman serves as lead counsel in a wide range of litigation including corporate, contractual, commercial and partnership disputes, professional liability matters, construction disputes and arbitrations, antitrust, trade regulation and product liability litigation. In addition, he has served as lead counsel for public bodies and private citizens interested in cases concerning public housing practices and land-use control issues.

Mr. Shakman routinely represents attorneys, law firms and other professionals in partnership and professional responsibility disputes. He may be best known for the federal court Shakman Decrees, which have enjoined patronage hiring and firing of public employees in Chicago and Illinois.

The Fist of Worker Solidarity OWS Chicago & A Working Man's Hand

If the Occupy Wall Street Movement and its rehearsal the Madison Wisconsin Sideshow last year have done anything it is making us all aware of the importance of bongos, drums and other percussion instruments.

Though I expect that there will not be a wild revival of Sandy Nelson, Buddy Rich, or Gene Krupa record sales, those kids can beat.

But consider Sandy Nelson:

And the OWS In-a-gadda-davidas!

More significantly, the fist thrust heaven-ward has become an all too frequent semiotic tool.

There is nothing so impressive as the calloused hands of a man who actually works for a living with skill, professional piety, and determination.

There is nothing so laughable as the milky white digits of a latter-day Hero of the Proletariat.

Man, put them back in the pockets of your North Face, son.

Tribune Truth Commission: I Giggled All Through Mass

Illinois Progressive Machine - pols and union leaders do not mean Progressive Brahmins, or SEIU.

A Truth Commission, then, could cast light on these rampant abuses by pols and union leaders of rank-and-file workers and Illinois taxpayers. Then the rest of us taxpayers can apply whatever heat is necessary to enact significant reforms.

I heard today's Gospel read and immediately giggled like a six year old. The old bat next to me shushed me, not once but three times. "Grow up!" she hissed. As if.

I tried to stop giggling but God help me I could not. I so bad that I giggled all the way to the Communion rail. It was a Saturday Mass, so I guess that might absolve me a little bit.

It was funny. I had read Saturday's early on-line editorial in the Chicago Medill . . .Tribune. The Tribune is playing cold case investigation of the Illinois legislature, in order to find fault with 'somebody' for the current economic collapse that can be easily laid in the laps of the people who caused it - The Progressives.

Illinois is underwhelmed by revenue, because the Dawn Clark Netsch, Ain't She Great, poster-boy for pie-chart Marxism Ralph Martire has not been laughed out of the room for twenty years.

That is the essence of the problem; that, and the fact that Abner Mikva and other Brahmin's have not had a commission in a week or so. Abner Mikva chaired the Gaming Commission about ten years ago, that investigated Emerald Casino, that happened to be a pet project for ruin by the Tribune Editorial Board. Mikva killed Emerald's license to the nods and hushed awe of the progressive Machine. Illinois Gaming is now as pure as honey-dew vine water! Lord Ha' Mercy!

But at the bullshit buffet that is Illinois Progressive thought, one can not but guffaw.

Here's the Gospel passage from St. Matthew that got me in Dutch with the Shawlies all around me.

"What do you think? A man had two sons; and he went to the first and said, `Son, go and work in the vineyard today.

'And he answered, `I will not'; but afterward he repented and went.

And he went to the second and said the same; and he answered, `I go, sir,' but did not go.
Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the harlots believed him; and even when you saw it, you did not afterward repent and believe him.

I see the first son as the legislators of 1991 - yeah, alright we'll get to it. Illinois was pretty flush with revenue back then -Saddam was launching SCUDS into Israel, Bubba was diddling Paula Jones and underaged Arkansas interns and the economy was flush and Jon Burge was fired as a cop. Shoot, the Red Chinese wanted to open more Soy Sauce works in Illinois.

Guess what? Dawn Clark Netsch was the Illinois Comptroller (Dawn Clark Netsch (1991-1995)! The Illinois Comptroller cuts the checks from the revenue that comes in.

The Comptroller is charged, by the terms of Section 17 of Article V of the Constitution of Illinois, with the duties of: (a) maintaining the central fiscal accounts of the state, and (b) ordering payments into and out of the funds held by the Treasurer of Illinois. In accordance with this duty, the Comptroller signs paychecks or grants approval to electronic payments made by the state to its employees and creditors.

Kind of a Truth Commissioner on the public larder. Well DCN was cool with the Comptrolling and then ran for Governor. Ain't She Great?

D.C. Netsch was an Illinois Legislator along with the bad guys litanized in the Chicago Medill . . .Tribune. Now, I am given to understand that Ms. Netsch was a 'wide-awake' eagle-eyed public servant who would, were she so inclined, swoop down on corrupt snakes and pluck them from the sand. Maybe not.

Public Unions got powerful because of the Progressive Machine and sapped Illinois Revenue and Progressives like D.C.Netsch foisted pie-chart pirate Ralph Martire on us all to dazzle the Chicago Medill . . .Tribune and other news hounds. Cry Bullshit! and let slip the dogs of whores. . . and other protected species in the food chain!

Lawsuit Lotto Lawyers began raping taxpayers over police torture, discrimination ( gay, racial, dietary, you name it), SEIU became Big Labor, Wages became determined by legislation and not collective bargaining. More Ain't She/He Great Progressive Brahmins were no longer laughed out of the room. They became somebodies, by dint of appointments.

The second son in the Gospel is the Media - they say they will go into the vineyard and grunt and sweat, but they only manage to get Abner Mikva a paid commission, Ralph Martire a steady income flow, the Better Government Association stocked with pikers who stalk truck drivers and plumbers to catch them napping and after Illinois has gone to Shit, trot out salaries.

Truth Commission? Oh, Hell yeah. Why not.

How many tax-dollars have gone to Education programs mandated for Illinois schools to advocate abortion, Homosexual Marriage, idiotic sex education curricula and other hot button Progressive agendas?

How many millions of tax dollars have gone to make SEIU and the other lesser light public employee boon-doggles?

How many billions of dollars have gone to studies, commissions and retreats to tell us that the middle class is not paying enough for Green Initiatives, Reversing the Chicago River, and High Speed Rails?

How many gazillions of taxpayer dollars have not only fattened the wallets of Cadillac Commie lawyers, but also over-turned the convictions of thugs and killers?

One final question? Why did it take twenty years and the absence of the powerful from public life for the Chicago Medill . . .Tribune to pretend to grow a pair?

Crains's Chicago Business and Greg Hinz Smear Sheriff Dart and Former Sheriff Sheahan and the 19th Ward in Two Smarmy Paragraphs.

Sheriff Mike Sheahan is the only elected official to my knowledge who did not profit from public service. This I know for a fact. I try to avoid getting behind Mike Sheahan in the check-out lines at County Fair Foods, because it is a sure bet that it will take a good twenty minutes of coupon counting, before my groceries get tallied.

Nevertheless, Media Types like Mark Brown, Carol Marin, and hugely unfunny Neil Steinberg take lame-ass shots at Sheriff Sheahan and the 19th Ward.

Here is Greg Hinz attempting out-Neil Steinberg on the Mayoral Race -

But the real question is how much Mr. Dart has cleaned up the sheriff's office, which for a couple of decades has been pretty much a 19th Ward fiefdom. Mr. Dart seems to have done a pretty good job, but then, he was chief aide to former Sheriff Mike Sheahan, who caught lots of flak.

You can bet the sheriff's operation will get a full airing before the mayoral vote. Mr. Dart doesn't need any other stumbles.

Greg another one those EVERYONE KNOWS it is true Craptabulous Columinist Pimp Slaps! Really. Shakman! Greg, Shakman!

Gee, Greg EVERYONE know s that Crain's Chicago Business is in bed with Rahm Emanuel - all of the Smart Money. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT!

Oh, that's right. I am not a columnist. Can't get away with that. I'd like to see Sheriff Michael Sheahan ( ret.) hire Joe Powers and sue Crain's and your sorry ass for defamation of character.
What is the exact statistical breakdown of 19th Ward residents in the employ of the Cook County Sheriff?

Mike Quigley used to wow cocktail waitresses with what passes for his wit with a snotty crack about 19th Ward residents with County Plates. No numbers, just Profiling.

19th Ward profiling is acceptable, because Irish Catholics rarely take people like Greg Hinz, or Neil Steinberg by their rolled lapels, pull them up close for a 'chin wag' let alone for a trip outside and a thorough and salubrious beating. Rarely.

MSNBC - Promotes Pogrom Preacher Al Sharpton

MSNBC is all over Glenn Beck like a cheap-suit. Howver, MSNBC provides the leader of two anti-Jewish Pogroms that killed Yankel Rosenbaum in Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklynn - Crown Heights Al Sharpton. Pastor Hagee has yet to kill a Catholic. Crown Heights Al has the street cred for MSNBC's Rock Solid Hypocrisy!

Al Sharpton is a professional bigot. During his long career the Reverend has incited two anti-Semitic pogroms; the Crown Heights riot and the firebombing of the Jewish-owned Freddy’a Fashion Mart in Harlem. Each of the Sharpton-incited pogroms resulted in deaths, but now for some unknown reason Reverend Al believes he is the caretaker of religious tolerance in the country, as well as the protector of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy of peaceful protest.

Sharpton's bigotry and hypocrisy has been front and center recently as on one hand he campaigned for what he saw was the First Amendment rights of Muslims who want to build a Mosque 500 feet from the ground zero footprint, but on the other hand, he bashed Glenn Beck for organizing a religion-themed rally from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on the anniversary of Reverend King’s “I have a dream speech.”

Boycott MSNBC -all they understand is a buck.

8. It is no coincidence that blond hair evolved in Scandinavia and northern Europe, probably as an alternative means for women to advertise their youth, as their bodies were concealed under heavy clothing. I happen to be bald.

9. I should not have clouted my relative Mike to that job with the Secretary of State! Red China should not have allowed that You Tube video to go viral.

10. Partial Birth Abortion? Never felt a thing! But, it's gotta hurt like hell. . .it ain't me Babe!

Judge Posner, Folks! He'll be here all of his life! Genius.
*. . .if doctors were not threatened with prosecution, what of their patients? Had anyone suffered injury or been denied an otherwise legal abortion? Over the past year, the law on partial-birth abortion in Indiana had not been enjoined, so that state offered a laboratory of sorts. In the course of the year, there had been no shift away from D&E abortions; in fact, the number had increased. As Judge Easterbrook summed it up, quite tellingly, the "plaintiffs do not contend that in any of the states where a partial-birth abortion law is in effect, even one woman has been injured or denied an abortion because of the law."

For Judge Richard Posner, who wrote the dissent, the whole apparatus of argument his colleagues brought forth was specious. It was at least conceivable to him that the D&X procedure could be better for a particular woman, because it might reduce the amount of her bleeding or the dangers of infection from fetal parts left behind. To deny the choice in that case could be, for that woman, an "undue burden."

But Judge Posner's claim did not really rest on empirical tests, for the procedure was too rare to have been the object of a systematic study. For Judge Posner, the case turned on axioms. He began with the right of women to choose abortion, and anything that burdened or qualified that right was presumptively suspect, wrong, unconstitutional. In one of the curious sidelights of the dissenting opinion, Judge Posner expressed a deep concern for abortionists, who "are frequent subjects of picketing and other harassment and occasionally of physical assaults." But he had no such solicitude for the one whose assault is the object of the surgery: "From the standpoint of the fetus . . . it makes no difference whether, when the skull is crushed, the fetus is entirely within the uterus or ifs feet are outside the uterus."

The American Medical Association had testified that the D&X procedure was not strictly necessary for the health of the mother; still, there were opinions on either side. Judge Posner expressed a muted contempt for the experts with whom he disagreed, and he wondered what the courts would have made of a legislative finding of fact, in the South, in the 1950s, that blacks as a group were "slow learners."

**Posner's political and moral views are hard to summarize. His parents were affiliated with the American Communist party, and in his youth and in the 1960s as law clerk to William J. Brennan he was generally counted as a liberal. However, in reaction to some of the perceived excesses of the late 1960s, Posner developed a strongly conservative bent. He encountered Chicago School economists Aaron Director and George Stigler while a professor at Stanford.[3] Posner summarized his views on law and economics in his 1973 book The Economic Analysis of Law.[3]

Today, although generally considered a figure of the right, Posner's pragmatism, his qualified moral relativism and moral skepticism,[8] and his affection for the thought of Friedrich Nietzsche set him apart from most American conservatives. Among his other influences are the American jurists Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. and Learned Hand.

Antitrust
Along with Robert Bork, Posner helped shape the antitrust policy changes of the 1970s through his idea that 1960s antitrust laws were in fact making prices higher for the consumer rather than lower, while he viewed lower prices as the essential end goal of any antitrust policy.[3] Posner and Bork's theories on antitrust evolved into the prevailing view in academia and at the Justice Department of the George H.W. Bush Administration.[3]

Privacy
He famously opposed the right of privacy in 1981, arguing that the kinds of interests protected under privacy are not distinctive. He contended that privacy is protected in ways that are economically inefficient.

Abortion
He has written several opinions sympathetic to abortion rights, including a decision holding "partial-birth abortion" constitutionally protected in some circumstances.

Breach of contract
He has written favorably of efficient breach of contracts. Breach often leads to a worse result for society: if a seller breaches a contract to deliver building materials, the buyer's workers might go idle while the buyer looks for a replacement. The lost production is a cost to the company and its workers and, as such, is a social cost. An efficient breach would be a situation in which the benefits are higher than the costs, because the seller is better off for breaching even after paying damages to the buyer (for instance, if some third party had a much greater need for the building materials, and was willing to pay a price high enough to both out-price the original receiver and offset the realized costs of breach of contract).

Drugs
He has characterized the U.S.'s "War on Drugs" as "quixotic". In a 2003 CNBC interview, he discussed the difficulty of enforcing criminal marijuana laws and asserted that it is hard to justify the criminalization of marijuana compared to other substances.

Animal rights
Posner engaged in a debate on the ethics of using animals in research with the philosopher Peter Singer in 2001 at Slate magazine. He argues that animal rights conflicts with the moral relevance of humanity, and that empathy for pain and suffering of animals does not supersede advancing society.[9] He further argues that he trusts his moral intuition until it is shown to be wrong, and that his moral intuition says "it is wrong to give as much weight to a dog's pain as to an infant's pain." He leaves open the possibility that facts on animal and human cognition can and may change his intuition in the future; he further states that people whose opinions were changed by consideration of the ethics presented in Singer's book Animal Liberation failed to see the "radicalism of the ethical vision that powers [their] view on animals, an ethical vision that finds greater value in a healthy pig than in a profoundly retarded child, that commands inflicting a lesser pain on a human being to avert a greater pain to a dog, and that, provided only that a chimpanzee has 1 percent of the mental ability of a normal human being, would require the sacrifice of the human being to save 101 chimpanzees."[9]

Torture
When reviewing Alan Dershowitz's book, "Why Terrorism Works: Understanding the Threat, Responding to the Challenge", Posner wrote in The New Republic, September 2002 that "If torture is the only means of obtaining the information necessary to prevent the detonation of a nuclear bomb in Times Square, torture should be used—and will be used—to obtain the information. ... no one, who doubts that this is the case, should be in a position of responsibility."[10][11]

Prisoners
In a dissent from an earlier ruling by his protege Frank Easterbrook, Posner wrote that Easterbrook's decision that female guards could watch male prisoners while in the shower or bathroom must stem from a belief that prisoners are "members of a different species, indeed as a type of vermin, devoid of human dignity and entitled to no respect.... I do not myself consider the 1.5 million inmates of American prisons and jails in that light."[3]

Newspapers
Posner supported the creation of a law barring hyperlinks or paraphrasing of copyrighted material as a means to prevent what he views as free riding on newspaper journalism.[12][13][14] His co-blogger Gary Becker simultaneously posted a contrasting opinion that while the Internet might hurt newspapers, it will not harm the vitality of the press, but rather embolden it.[15]

All Carol Marin Needs to Know About "Fair"- Camera One, Carol!

Fair is fair. I don't think government prosecutors are being fair to Rod Blagojevich.. . .No surprise there. But it still doesn't feel fair.
In between there are a couple of hundred words or so that say not much.

C. Marin - See Marin on WTTW and NBC 5.

Carol Marin helped ruin the lives of Chris and Mary Fogarty. Once it seemed clear that George Ryan was going to be hammered by hack Judge Pallmeyer, Carol decided to mock Lura Lynn Ryan. Carol Marin worries about fair.

Fair enough! Tutorial time: Carol, Rod Blagojevich will not spend a day in jail. That might not be fair, but you will be cool with it. Actually, Carol Marin wouldn't know "fair" if it jumped up and bit her on the ass.

Salon's Nun "Sister" Joan Walsh asks, "What's Wrong With Whitey?"

Remember when the Nuns made us Diagram sentences on the blackboard? I can still feel the love! Well, not my Jewish, Anglican, Lutheran, AME and Wiccan friends - you didn't go to Catholic school - except Danny Levi! Oh yeah and the two Dutch kids that later went to some school in Michigan, but I digress. Diagram! Nuns! Snitches and sneaks!

Salon's Joan Walsh reminds me of the Irish colleens who tended to rat out the class when Sister Doralese left the room. "Sister, I studied and prayed, but Larry Fiscelli, Billy Bigane, Mike Kelly, Eileen O'Connor, Terry McEldowney, Willie Winters, Janet Walsh, Margie Prendergast, Carolyn Velos, Ray Winebladt, Jimmy Shea, Ernie Kelly, Bernie Mitchell, Judy Lawlor and the other sneaks especially Pig-eyed Hickey - were making fun of YOU sister and were hateful and barbarous."

Males generally got their asses kicked, followed by having their Hagar Dad 'N Lad Slacks yanked off and tossed over the phone wires, following such an exercise. Homely and singularly unhappy girls, like Joan Walsh, would eventually take the veil, turn feminist, maybe even dedicated Sapphist, following a grammar school career of ratting out their classmates. Some became Magazine editors.

Anyway , Joan Walsh makes a swell career of being singularly unhappy with Salon.com and on MSNBC as a weepy mouth-piece for Progressive, anti-Catholic, anti-Religion, and all abortion issues.

Today, she hates Whitey - you know White People like me the others who work at and support all black Catholic High Schools, and other things. (Click my post title for Joan Walsh's full squeal)

Joan Walsh acts and sounds just like the smug-ugly and stupid nuns who want to be Popes, wear bad clothes that make them look like a Lesbian chorus line, do liturgical dance when asked not to and rarely have ever finished actually reading a book. They were the biggest hitters back in the day. The good nuns wore the old regimentals and actually liked boys.

If Sister Joan can diagram this sentence by Michael Eric Dyson - fast talking Afro-Moron of the 1st Order and Frequent Guest on Cable TV . . .well I'll tell what's wrong with white people . . . explain the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle . . .the recipe to Uncle Jaspar's Peotone Surprise Jambalaya . . . Billy Grey's Treasure Map and the level of salt in Roland S. Martin's diet.

Sister Joan - Diagram it!!!!! . . .and I'll tell what is wrong with White People.

And so when we think about warring against White Supremacy in American society, it is so seductive to believe and invest in the mythology of superiority, especially among White ethnic brothers and sisters, who, having been closed out of so much in American society, hold fast to that lie, hold fast to that myth, hold fast to that illusion because they have been so disenfranchised otherwise that they have to pump up the myth of their inherent superiority.

Waiting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whaaaaapppppp! On your knees!http://tabacco.blog-city.com/michael_eric_dyson_quotes__black_university_of_pennsylvania_.htm

While Greasing Up the Pole for Sheila Simon's Jump Up Over the Vote - Mark Brown Needs to Sneer.

Why people detest the media - columnists tend to sneer at readers. Mark Brown is a champ . . .spell it as you will.

Today, The Chicago Sun Times reminds everyone that Sheila Simon is a Medal of Honor recipient; Nobel Prize Candidate; Publisher's Clearing House Laureate; Needs No Skis 'Cause She Walks on Water; and was Born in a Cross-fire Hurricane!

We knew that already.

Governor Pat Quinn chose Sheila Simon to be on his ticket as Guv-Lite for all those reasons and more.

Carol Marin, Neil Steinberg, Sneedless to Say and Mark Brown waved palms as Sheila Simon rides into Jerusalem with palms waving and palms up.

Mark Brown could not praise a Progressive Scion of Illinois without a snotty crack at the MANY, MANY Chicago Helots who voted for Art Turner - I did.

Turner fared best in the white wards where people vote for whom they're told -- 11, 13, 14 and 19 -- and in the more independent areas where people like me voted for him because he had the newspaper endorsements.

We were told for whom to vote? Really? Mark Brown tosses out something to see what sticks - regularly. I forget for whom I was told to vote. Who was it Gave me my voting orders? Was it Precinct Captain Elmer Shagnasty? Was it our genial and with-it host the First Nighter? Was it the perenial favorite Speaker Mike Madigan? No, he don't speak until he has something to say. Or, was it the Aryan Nation, as Neil Steinberg suggests?

Nope, I voted for Art Turner, because he is a good guy. He's a black guy, by the way, Art Turner is like the black folks in my neighborhood who go to Mass with us at St. Cajetan, Sacred Heart, St. Barnabas, Christ the King Catholic Churches and borrow my green lawn spreader.

Mark Brown votes because of a newspaper endorsement - or so he says.

People hold newspaper columnists almost as high in their estimations as the elected officials who violate their trust.

Elected Officials -Sheila Simon has won no election, as she is a panjandrum - a career appointee - get voted out of office and some go to jail.

Mark Brown and other newspaper columnists sneer at readers. When we all stop paying for newspapers, columnists might get an attitude adjustment. Naw, stupid is forever.

John Kass Smotes Pat Robertson's Ass -inine Jeremiad

At minimum, once a week, John Kass goes Arepagetican* Greek on some creep.

- A Caliban of a corpulent cop marinated with Happy Cossack gets his booze Botox peeled back for ridicule after tossing a tiny Polish barmaid around while Blackberry armed cowards text the horror.
- An Entitled Patronage Poltroon pries pennies out the tax-payers to fill his swimming pool.
- A daffy Burgomeister wearing an Indiana Jones hat that makes him look like a toad stool with legs gums up the English Language while decrying the sorry state of student test scores

The parade of folly is longer than a Studs Terkel gush segment on WTTW.

Today, John Kass gives America's Brooks Brothers Elmer Gantry - Rev. Pat Robertson - a sound butt-gnawing over the Polecat Preacher Man's moronic exegesis on Haiti's horrible plague of woes.

Pat Robertson, a dedicated hypocrite of the Old School, sees God's Hand in the earthquake that killed tens of thousands of Haitians as recompense for Voodoo.

John Kass cuts to the quick of this slow-hearted opportunist.

It saddens me because Robertson's foolishness once again allows knee-jerk critics of Christianity to use his nonsense to paint countless Christian ministers and priests with the Robertson brush. But they're not in the angry smiting business. They're in the business of love and kindness, not hate and revenge.

I'm clearly no theologian. And the wrath of God against the sinners seems a common thread in the Old Testament.

But has Robertson forgotten about the New Testament, the new covenant, the one that's all about love and caring, even for the sinners?

Mr. Kass, give him one in the jewels before you move on - God told me to tell you that, John. Praise Jesus!

For books are not absolutely dead things, but do contain a potency of life in them to be as active as that soul whose progeny they are; nay, they do preserve as in a vial the purest efficacy and extraction of that living intellect that bred them.
As good almost kill a man as kill a good book: who kills a man kills a reasonable creature, God's image; but he who destroys a good book, kills reason itself, kills the image of God, as it were, in the eye.
And though all the winds of doctrine were let loose to play on the earth, so Truth be in the field, we do injuriously by licensing and prohibiting misdoubt her strength. Let her and Falsehood grapple; who ever knew Truth put to the worse in a free and open encounter?
I cannot praise a fugitive and cloistered virtue, unexercised and unbreathed, that never sallies out and sees her adversary, but slinks out of the race, where that immortal garland is to be run for, not without dust and heat.

Nancy, Your Pants Are Afire and Your Boys are Lying As Well

You can not make this stuff up!

“It’s almost a complete certainty that we have already discussed and debated almost every element that’s in this bill,” said Rep. Steve Rothman (D-N.J.)

McHenry took issue with the notion that the 2,000-page bill hasn’t changed much from the earlier, 1,000-page versions. To prove the point, he pulled out a Democratic-written summary of the changes.

All eight pages of them.

Asked why the House will vote on the roughly 400,000-word bill in a week when it takes a congregation a year to read the 80,000-word Torah at a synagogue, Rothman, who is Jewish, exhibited the wisdom of a Talmudic scholar.

“It only takes a year because you read one section a week,” he said.

But Republican Rep. Joe Barton, who is Texan, said the bill is “about four reams of paper” that add up to the American public “getting reamed.”

. . . And I used to get nervous when the Mailman went to his trunk.

Hear Andy Shaw on WLS -"Cops Not Going 100%" Andy Must Have the Numbers

Listen to the WLS feed from this morning's Don Wade & Roma - slide the bar about 3/4 of way to the part where the Police Officer asks about no Contract for Two Years/Chicago's Thug Happy Violence Festival and BGA Andy's response.

Because, in Andy Shaw's BGA News Reader World View, Jody Weiss is Police Superintendent Chicago Police Officers are pooching the job.

The real mopes always get appointed positions.

BGA Andy Shaw on Don & Roma: "Cops Lying Down"

On the way into work, I heard Andy Shaw, Bed and Breakfast Magnate and Better Government Watch Pup, answer a Chicago Police Officer named Nicky's question as to why the Police and Fire Department memberships needed to go two years without contracts and remain 4,000 officers understrength given the swelling violence in the City.

Andy, with his usual aplomb replied (now, this is only what I heard mind you) to the effect that Cops always get their lump sums and the reason that violence is going MadDog in Chicago has more to do with police officers shirking their duties because they do not like Superintendent Weiss than it does to anything else -Chicago's Media Created Thug Comfort Zone, Lawsuit Lawyer Lotto Giveaways & etc..

Andy went on to praise the Chicago Reporter for real reporting.

Cops don't fight crime. Andy Shaw is a great intellect and a fine human being.
That is your Better Government Watchdog!

James Tyree's Investment Group Get a Chicago Tribune Welcome! "Me and the Wife and Kids Set Your Garage on Fire! "

The Chicago Tribune welcomes the Investors in the Group that purchased the Flat-lined by Stupidity Chicago Sun Times with brimming bowls full of vitriol tossed right in the Lamps.

One of the best working journalists in the business Ray Gibson and a Tribune staff writer Michael Oneal seem to be doing the bidding of the same Editorial Band of geniuses who attempted to smear former Cook County Sheriff Mike Sheehan a few years ago. Sheriff Sheehan mocked the Tribune after a jury took less than twenty minutes to toss the case of Gang-Bangers/Lefty Lawyers and the Tribune's Full Court Press on a trumped up Cook County Jail Abuse Charge.

Mesirow Investment Chief James Tyree, a man with a sterling reputation for turning around businesses on life-support like the hapless Sun Times News Group ( STNG - the Progressive Independent Revolutionary Shining Path Cadre Mountain Molehill Heapers - Conrad Black's Children of the Corn and Banana Republic Payoff Mogul Cyrus Friedheim's Red Arm and Hammer Bangers*) has stepped up to save a Chicago newspaper.

Paper Hat Col. Bob McCormick's and No Popery Joe Medill's children led by Bruce 'Kenny G is Jazz' Dold seem to be following the Old Sun Times Playbook off the cliff - the one James Tyree kept The Obnoxious Oracle of Orleans Street from using.

In today's "Welcome to Progressive Journalism" oyster cracker, Gibson and Oneal squirt poison from the pens linking Tyree's Investors to a failed casino venture ( which Abner Mikva did his best to sink, it seemed to me, hearing no good word for the Emerald Investors in his Star Chamber treatment of the Casino License review - Emerald had the great Bob Clifford as counsel. BTW- I participated in one of the hearings and it sure seemed to me as though Abner Mikva had his mind set on swamping the Flynns, well before the testimony was given. The Mikva Challenge? Try and make your point.

The Tribune also attempts to toss the George Ryan Card freely at several investors as well as Al Capone. Gee why not link them to Moe Annenberg - too close to Billy Ayers I imagine. Thus!

In 2005, the Illinois Gaming Board revoked the license, citing a report by retired federal Judge Abner Mikva concluding that the owners had been deceptive and that the effort was tainted by mob influence. The Flynns have denied the charges.

Kevin Flynn, who runs an investment firm and is chairman of Renovo Services LLC, which repossesses cars and other assets, was unavailable for comment. Tyree said he knows Flynn through Mesirow's insurance arm.

Two other Sun-Times investors, William and Robert Parrillo, have deep business experience and come from a family with a long history in Chicago.

William founded Safeway Insurance Co, an auto insurer based in Westmont; his brother Robert is managing partner of Parrillo Weiss & O'Halloran, a Chicago law firm specializing in personal injury and insurance cases.

Their father did legal work for gangsters, including Al Capone. Their brother, Donald, a former 1st Ward alderman, once recounted that he was recruited to run for the post by then-Outfit chief Sam "Momo" Giancana.

Another brother, Richard, is a close friend of jailed former Republican Gov. George Ryan and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to fund Ryan's failed defense against corruption charges. He also has been a close associate and supporter of former 10th Ward Ald. Edward Vrdolyak.

William and Robert Parrillo weren't available for comment Friday, but a source close to them said they have worked over the years to distance themselves financially from their brothers.

Another Tyree investor, Edward Heil, made his fortune running a garbage business and a construction company that thrived on state contracts. He battled with DuPage County for years before selling a disputed landfill to Waste Management for $62.5 million in 1986.

More recently, Heil has invested in American Ecology Corp., which has a low-level nuclear waste site in Washington state.

Heil, 65, was one of Ryan's biggest financial supporters and a major donor to Gov. Jim Edgar. In 1993, Edgar canceled a potential $10 million state contract in which Heil had invested, saying he wanted to avoid the appearance that insiders might have gotten favored treatment.

Yep, the Tribune Editorial Board Mensa Chapter is sprinting to the same cliff that James Tyree stopped the Sun Times from trying out!

'Hi, I'm Col. Bob McCormick and this is my wife Joe Medill-McCormick! Welcome to the neighborhood! The wife, kids and I set your garage on fire! Here's a cold week old eggplant casserole with cauliflower sauce - we want the dish back tonight!'

Our Lobbyist -in - Chief! Our Oprahlicious Olympian Copenhagen Chicagoans Expect a Strike!

In what ethics-in-government advocates described as a particularly far-reaching move, Mr. Obama barred officials of his administration from lobbying their former colleagues "for as long as I am president." He barred former lobbyists from working for agencies they had lobbied within the past two years and required them to recuse themselves from issues they had handled during that time.
New York Times - January 22, 2009

Chicago earned its name and reputation as The Windy City -not from the blasts that blow reed-thin pencil neck geeks like autumnal leaves down the canyons of LaSalle Street -due to the Boosterism of the Bellowing Big Mouths and Lapel Grabbers like Ogden Armour and in-the-vest Mayor Carter Harrison trumpeting the Columbian Exposition.

Chicago is All Olympics all the time and boosters like Club owner Billy Dec is Kickin' It with every 40 Watt Personality from both coasts. Oprah Olympic Only!

After much - Well No $hit Sherlock -opinion pieces in our local rags and on the Idiot Box Chicago's Homegrown Barker will fly to Copenhagen to Lobby for Olympics in Chicago!

You can expect no less.

"President Obama will join First Lady Michelle Obama, who will be leading the United States delegation to Copenhagen. Mrs. Obama will arrive in Copenhagen on Wednesday, September 30, along with Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor to President Obama and head of the White House Office on Olympic, Paralympic and Youth Sport.

"President Obama will depart Washington on the evening of Thursday, October 1 and arrive in Copenhagen on the morning of October 2 local time, just prior to Chicago’s presentation to the voting members of the IOC. He will arrive back in Washington on Friday afternoon.

"President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will both make presentations to the IOC during Friday’s session. They will discuss why Chicago is best to host the 2016 Summer Games, and how the United States is eager to bring the world together to celebrate the ideals of the Olympic movement.

"While in Denmark, the President and First Lady will meet with Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness, the Prince Consort. President Obama will also meet with Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen."

Once Lincoln Is Ridden Out on Rail, Let's Hire Stan Ikenberry as U of I President!

That's Stan chillin' with a little pocket-pool -digging for change while he awaits another Clout Proper Pay Day!

As long as the hypocrisy that is Progressive Illinois Politics never runs out of steam a self serving clown like Stan Ikenberry will find a pile of dough! This lastest parlor drama, starring the wistful carpetbagger from Camelot - Newly Appointed U of I Clean Guy Chris " I'm Runnin'" Kennedy; Governor Pat Quinn; The Chicago Tribune Editorial Board; Billy Ayers and his odious Old Lady; and the star of our Let's run Lincoln Out of Illinois on a Rail, because He Split 'Em - Clout Meiester and Eltist Cheese-Eater Stan Ikenberry - is the Absolute Limit, Sally! The Mutt's Nuts! The Snakes Hips! A Must See!

This clown Ikenberry ( onlimitly a few weeks ago) went before his old pal Abner 'Clean Plate" Mikva and railed against Clout. Clean House and Slop Some Stan all over the Stains! This same Seer Sucker Slim Stan took in all the Moolah from ComEd back in the day ,when Stan was Lord of the Campi of U of I -Circle and Beyond!

This is the goof who has yet to pick up the Buck about hiring the Barney Google of Domestic Terror - Bookless Billy Ayers!

Get this!

The university board is expected to name a temporary successor to President B. Joseph White within weeks. Ikenberry, the university's 14th president and a professor at the Urbana-Champaign campus, appears to be at the top of the list.

"If I were asked to serve and thought I could help, I would help. I haven't been offered anything. I haven't accepted anything," Ikenberry said.
Board Chairman Christopher Kennedy declined to say whether he was one of the two trustees who spoke with Ikenberry. But he acknowledged there are some obvious places to find a short-term leader to guide the school through its recent admissions scandal.

"I think looking at former presidents of the university is one place. Another is senior leadership at the university, and a third would be recently retired university presidents," Kennedy said.

Ikenberry oversaw the university's three campuses from 1979 to 1995, leading one of the largest building booms in its history. He was the U. of I.'s youngest president when he stepped into the role at 44.

Stan, come clean! You hired Billy as Pay-back to Billy Daddy -Old Tom Ayers - for shifting United Way and all the other coffers your way . . .Right? You, Stan Money Laundered a Domestic Terrorist - Didn't you Stan? Fess up! You did -didn't you?

BGA's Andy Shaw Clouted His Kids into Magnet Schools, But NOW it's a Scandal. Scandalous, Shocking and Oh, So Progressive.

Beachwood Reporter's publisher, editor and scalpel sharp wit, Steve Rhodes, a rock-ribbed Liberal of the Old School, plucked this gem out of the same old manure that passes for Chicago Journalism:

By Steve Rhodes

Mayor Daley recently half-joked that the burgeoning CPS clout scandal at least showed that some Chicago schools had become so desirable during his tenure that parents and politicians were willing to cheat to get their kids admitted into them.

But Marj Halperin's 1988 Chicago magazine article called "The Lottery" - which she recently shared with District 299 blogger Alexander Russo - shows that clout admissions and the controversial "principal picks" now under federal investigation pre-date the Richard M. Daley era.

Here's how Halperin opened her piece:

"Governor Thompson got his kid in. So did state representatives Ellis Levin and Al Ronan. You'll find the daughter of Alderman Patrick O'Connor, head of the City Council's education committee, in a magnet classroom this year. Alderman Ed Smith's, too.

"TV reporter Andy Shaw's daughters are in LaSalle Language Academy, the same as one-time Chicago Sting soccer star Karl Heinz Granitza's children. Monroe Anderson, the Mayor's press secretary and a former Newsweek reporter, sends his son to Inter-American Magnet. Perhaps if he drops Scott off himself, Anderson gives a nod to some of the Board of Ed employees, who also send their children to Inter-American - such as Margarita Rosa, of the board's research and evaluation office. Fernando Colon got his daughter in while working for the board's law department.

http://www.beachwoodreporter.com/column/the_monday_papers_166.php

This morning, I read that the Principal of Whitney Young has been subpoenaed to appear before a Federal Grand Jury on clout for classes!

This nonsense was kicked into overdrive by the mopes who are too lazy to really follow a lead. The same hypocrites who gave padded jobs to Bernadine Dorhn and Billy Ayers were huffing and puffing about the smell of clout at the University of Illinois. They were demanding immediate resignations ( Can I get a Harrumph?) of Trustees and rending their garments that 'No Such Clout Actions Took Place on Their Watches! ( I Didn't Hear a Harrumph From That Guy.Abner! Let Me Hear a Harrumph!).

The Newly Minted BGA Watch Pup, Andy ('What Floor?') Shaw clouted his kids into a school and is now sniffing out corruption? The two Brooks Brothers Bolsheviks who ran University of Illinois (Urbana & CC) who clouted the Underground Nick and Nora Charles into padded sinecures at Northwestern and UICC and padlocked any information on their actions are Howling out Jeremiads?

Progressive Hypocrisy makes Bathhouse John Coughlin and Hinky Dink Kenna seem like Trappist Monks.

Well done Steve Rhodes!
