YES, I AM QUITE CERTAIN HE KNOWS THIS. He 'damned' her to hell with her garlic nose, and he would not have named her if he wasn't aware of who she was. Don't you GET IT. They're white! It doesn't matter what they accomplished, that italians are an ethnic group 'not just white' who also overcame a certain amount of persecution for being greasy olive oil darkies.
