Quigley Endorses Quinn - Dan Hynes Wins!

Illinois Observer, Dave Ormsby noted early today that Congressman Mike Quigley will endorse Governor Pat Quinn to day at 10A.M. - Governor Quinn, my condolences.

The Uriah Heep of Illinois politics, Congressman Mike Quigley, is a kiss of death.

Comptroller Dan Hynes will win in a Primary Landslide and go on to thump the GOP nominee who will not be Dan Proft. Too bad. Proft is only man in the field who says anything and gives thoughtful voice to real issues.

(Chicago, IL) — October 5, 2009. U.S. Representative Mike Quigley and Governor Pat Quinn will appear together at a press conference today in Chicago and a Quigley endorsement of Quinn is the likely subject.

Quigley was absent from a big group of progressive Democrats who endorsed Quinn on September 14.

Today could be the day.

Quinn’s opponent in the Illinois 2010 Democratic primary for governor, Illinois Comptroller Dan Hynes endorsed State Rep. Sara Feigenholtz (D-Chicago) over Quigley in this year’s special congressional primary for Rahm Emanuel’s vacate House seat. Oops.

Payback. Betcha.

The press conference will be at the Hotel Alegro and begins at 10:00 a.m.

Hacked Presidential Elections Begin With Chicago Hacks, Including Mike Quigley

Illinois Politics' Arch-Hypocrite, Congressman Mike Quigley, foamed at the mouth about Russian hacking of Illinois Elections.

"Despite the intelligence community's assessment that Russia interfered in our presidential election, President Donald Trump and Republican leadership seem wholly uninterested in examining how and why Russia targeted us — and what we must do to prevent it from happening again.
Recently, the intelligence committees in both the Senate and House announced bipartisan investigations into Russian hacking and election interference. As a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, I welcomed this announcement and take seriously my duty to follow the facts, wherever they lead. I support the investigation because I believe American citizens deserve to know what really happened during this past election."  Wee Mike Quigley in the Chicago Tribune Opinion
Donald Trump did not force the use of computer-voting on the voters of Cook County. You did, Mike Quigley. And this twerp is on the House Intelligence Committee? Vlad Putin could not have gotten into our election machines without buck-toothed Dave Orr, Forrest Claypool, Larry Sufredin and the good folks at Sequoia Voting Systems.

In 2006, Mike Quigley was one of the Progressive grifters. . .I mean Commissioners,  who worked with Cook County Clerk David Orr, at the behest of Help America Vote, Abner Mikva and friends, to weld suburban Cook County and Chicago voters together with Venezuelan voting machines.

The Sequoia Voting Machines, Help America Vote, Forrest Claypool, Venezuela and those rascally Russians are all part of our Progressive History.  Prior to the 2008 Election of the transformative Barack H. Obama, a huge fan of Venezuelan Tin-pot Dictator the late Hugo Chavez and voting began getting hacked without hanging chads, on-line and vulnerable.

That was 2006, when former Mayor and Cook County Clerk David Orr insisted that Cook County and City Elections operate the identical voting systems.

Only Cook County Commissioner Tony Perica objected.   The Chicago media and Progressive Democrats ( Forrest Claypool, Mike Quigley, Abner Mikva, Pat Quinn et al) had already branded Commissioner Perica as Mad as a Hatter.   After Forrest Claypool's arched brows and hound dog-sad facial features bespoke his 'concern' for voting in the traditional manner in support of the Orr initiative to force Sequoia Voting Machines on voters in not only Chicago, but suburban Cook County as a whole and ensure that the balance of Illinois votes would be cancelled out, Commissioner Sims shut Tony Perica's pie-hole and on-line voter fraud became a dream come true.

Dig this!

Commissioner Peraica inquired whether the March election used an “Optic Eagle.”

Clerk Orr replied in the negative.

Commissioner Peraica inquired whether Sequoia is traded on NASDAQ or adheres to public disclosure practices.

Mr. Blaine replied in the negative.

Commissioner Peraica inquired what technical problems existed with the machines deployed on election day, and what measures are being taken to fix them.

Mr. Blaine stated that they don’t know the number of technical problems yet.  He stated improvements will be made to the machines at no cost to the County.

Chairman Neal stated that while it is an option to hold the vendor responsible for payment for a consultant, at this time it is the responsibility jointly of Cook County and the City.  He further stated that he would inform the Cook County Board of Commissioners if his office plans to proceed with the hiring of a consultant.

Clerk Orr stated that the reason that an independent consultant would be retained would be to obtain a review that is made independently of the vendor.

Commissioner Peraica stated that the payment for elections judges is insufficient.  He further stated that Clem Balanoff, Director of Elections, indicated to him that the equipment had been certified with a software glitch uncorrected.

Mr. Balanoff replied that the glitch did not affect the accuracy of the result.

Commissioner Peraica inquired whether the Board will receive a report regarding the elections equipment scheduled to be leased for the November election.

Mr. Blaine replied that the Board will be receiving a report on the “Edge” and “Insight” machines as well as the firmware and hardware that support them.  Also, a mock election will be staged, and a report on this will be supplied to the Board.

Chairman Neal replied that he would try to obtain a detailed report from the State Board of Elections on the equipment being used in the November election.  He further stated that although typically the State Board of Elections does not publish detailed reports, he believes that this situation warrants it.

Commissioner Peraica inquired as to when Sequoia will furnish the County Board with a report addressing the number and nature of the technical problems possessed by the election equipment used in the March elections.

Mr. Blaine replied that the County Board will receive this report by July 1, 2006.

Commissioner Peraica inquired as to a suit filed against Sequoia in the state of Washington.

Mr. Blaine replied that that suit had been dropped.

Commissioner Sims inquired whether the equipment used by Cook County in the March elections is state-of-the-art.

Mr. Blaine replied in the affirmative.

Commissioner Sims inquired whether the software being used by the equipment in November will be compatible to any upgraded machines the County might move to.

Mr. Blaine replied in the affirmative.

Commissioner Sims inquired whether the equipment can be enhanced to accommodate any change in requirements that the government might impose.

Mr. Blaine replied that Sequoia cannot foresee what future requirements the government might impose.
Oh, Heavens no, Mr. Blaine!

Barack Obama became 44th President of the United States and Sequoia machines ensured his re-election?

Far-fetched?  Not really.  Venal Progressive Democrats and spineless Regular Democrats benefit.  Oligarchs ( Banks, Brokers, Real Estate Slum Dog Billionaires, Bombardier CTA Products, and joyful Castro Brothers, Tur Partners aka Richie Daley) benefit hugely.

Russian on-line hacking was only made possible by the grant of David Orr and Cook County Commissioners.

It seems logical to follow the money, but first run back to the 2006 in Cook County Illinois and wee Mike Quigley's part in the hacking of American elections.

Then, I might look into the results of every election since 2006, just to make sure there were no crazy Ivans in the system.

Sun Times Calls Quigley A Tool of Permutation!

The Sun Times - Chock Full of Ironies! Even in Endorsing Their Fatuous Dopes, Sun Times manages to blow off the toes of those they love!

The other day The Sun Times endorsed the Uriah Heep of Illinois Politics - The Terror of Tiny Town Himself, Mike Quigley, to fill Rahm Emmanuel's seat - with plenty of room to spare!

'Issues aside, what's perhaps most refreshing about Quigley is, oddly, his lack of political charm.

He doesn't exactly light up a room. Or even smile much. . . .Quigley is, in his own way, part of the same wave.A true instrument for change. Send him to Congress.
'

'What is most refreshing about this blind date I have picked out for Damian is her almost complete lack of hygene and disdain for social convention - Why, Man, this morbidly obese girl -Farmers on the sidewalk, when her nasal passages get congested! She is utterly charming in the way she guzzles Louisiana Hot Sauce Frappes! Her scent is reminiscent of Old Chicago - the Stockyards in August or Gary, Indiana when war productivity was at its peak! Enchantingly Offensive!'

The Sun Times offers the voters of the 5th District its GIGI in Mike Quigley!

A True Instrument for Change -A Real Tool of Permutation! Send Quigley . . . Somewhere he will not get stepped on!'

Congress, a land of pygmies, might just be the place.

Tales of Mike Quigley, Part III -Mike Quigley and the Crabs!

Nothing says the Holidays like the diet of ripping yarns and cautionary tales that gives all of us sinners lessons that might have been gleaned from good living - to supplement all of those artery clogging goodies that we tend to put away in this Season of Giving. Takers are historically good offal and fat to fire into the Plum Puddings - Scrooge, Mr. Potter, crabby little girls who don't buy the Santa Story. Reading the papers and watching the news on TV often undermines our common sense of decency and courtesy. Public figures often give us commoners the very meat upon which to build a banquet of wholesome and toothy truths. Today, I would like to offer another bite out of what I like to call my Mike Quigley pantry of knee-slappers - they are tastey but wholesome fare!

Cook County Commissioner Mike Quigley, The Uriah Heep of Illinois Politics boarded an airplane in New Orleans, with a box
of crabs.

A lovely female crew member took the box and promised to put
it in the crew's refrigerator, which she did.

The Napoleon of Reform, pulled himself to his fullest height, stared directly into the Flight Attendant's knees and firmly advised her that he, Cook County Commissioner Mike Quigley, was holding her personally responsible for the crabs staying frozen, and proceeded to rant and rave about what would happen if she let the crabs thaw out.

Shortly before landing at O'Hare, the thoughtful Flight Service Professional announced to the entire cabin, 'Would the gentleman who gave me the
crabs in New Orleans, please raise your hand?'

Not one hand went up. So she took them home and ate
them herself. Mike Quigley never learns but that never stops him.

I wish to thank the estimable Frank Nofsinger of Connecticut for the roue of this crab bisque.

Project Shield and Cook County - Here's The Grant; Where's the Money

"I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered." Self-audit by Irish soccer genius the late George Best

“When you waste Homeland Security money you are less safe,” Congressman Mike Quigley (D) IL. and Former Cook County Commissioner

Ahhhh! The indefinite pronoun You. An indefinite pronoun is a pronoun that refers to one or more unspecified beings, objects, or places. You can mean anyone -even me.

Thus, let's talk about my part in this sordid affair - When I waste Homeland Security money, I am less safe.

I never get my hands on Homeland Security money; I am safe. I am safe because I never waste Homeland Security money. I believe that Senator Marque Kirgue ( R) IL and Congressman Mike "Too Tall" Quigley are on to something ( indefinite pronoun).

Here is the thing, Mike Quigley was a Cook Commissioner through the tenure of Stroger Pere and most of the tenure of Stroger Fil and he made life a bed of nails for both. Nothing got cleaned up, whatever that means, in Cook County government and nothing changed, but the gender and the shoes of the Cook County Board President. During those years of Quigley capers and cavorts, the diminutive plunger tweaked Sheriffs and County Employees and TIFS and managed to get appointed to Congress. Also, during those years, Wee Mike was custodian for the millions of dollars granted to Project Shield - a high tech communications relay for Cook County municipalities and Emergency First Providers - cops, firefighters and EMTs.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle pulled the plug on Project Shield* a few weeks ago.

Wee Mike was with Cook County Board and Kirque was in Congress.

They now are shaking jowls and thundering to the media, "What Happened? Where's the Money

These two lads just dandy little public piglets -Marque and Mike, but that's just me.

Me, I am a simple, quiet, pious man who loves his country and so I read and think about what I have read in order to raise a question or an eyebrow or two about people like Mike and Marque who fervently believe that we citizens are huge dopes. I know that I can be a dope; after all I voted for former Governor Pat Quinn. Early this beautiful January morning I decided to read the Department of Homeland Security(DHS) response to Marque and Mike.

On Page three of the DHS document is a Table -Table 1. of grants to Cook County FY 2003-2009

Table 1. UASI Grant Awards to Cook County, FYs 2003–2009
Project Shield
Total UASI Award UASI Funding UASI Funds Expended

2003 $12,848,927 $12, 399,292 $12,496,924
2004 $16,110,715 $11,303,495 $ 9,730,379
2005 $22,465,000 $15,836,810 $13,867,261
2006 $13,065,000 $5,210,254 $ 3,609,212
2007 $16,548,000 $3,000,000 $ 2,367,876
2008 $15,904,525 $5,331,425 $ 3,567,144
2009 $15,225,309 $5,622,756 $ 0

Total $112,167,476 $58,704, 032 $ 45,638,796
Source: Office of Inspector General (OIG) Analysis of FE

Okay - between 2003-2009 Cook County got between grants and funding a total in the amount of $ 179,871,508, or there abouts and expended $ 45, 638,796 which might leave a husky $125, 232,712. So, if EXPENDED means spent, out of the wallet, somewhere other than here, that must mean that there is a whole pile of DHS grant money somewhere. Don't it?

I gotta believe that the two sinister columns are the funds readily avaiable for use, or looting and that the dexter EXPENDED column represents what actually was used or looted.

Holy David Corzine!!!!

I read this passage again , after I read the conclusion drawn by the audit -

In a letter to the DHS Inspector General, Representative
Mike Quigley and Senator Mark Steven Kirk expressed concerns
about the vehicle used by the President of the Cook County Board
of Commissioners being equipped with Project Shield equipment.
They were concerned that these funds should be used for
emergency responders, not for executive transport.
According to Cook County personnel, Homeland Security funds
were used to retrofit the vehicle with communication equipment.
The rationale for installing this equipment was that the President of
the Cook County Board of Commissioners needed access to
current information to make real-time decisions during emergency
events in the county.
We found no specific grant guidance that
would disallow this cost.

Also this tidbit -

Of the 128 municipalities in Cook County, we found that:
• 32 never had equipment,
• 9 left the program after participating in the project, and
• 87 have Project Shield equipment, of which 71 have
vehicle video systems.

We visited 15 municipalities, which included 14 police departments
and 4 fire departments, and found numerous problems, including
equipment malfunctions, unused equipment, and uncertainty on
how to operate the equipment. We could not determine the exact
cause of the equipment problems but noted that many users of the
Project Shield vehicles did not have the necessary training on the
equipment.

The results of our 15 visits identified the following:
• 4 of 15 municipalities returned all of their Project Shield
vehicle equipment,
• 10 of 15 municipalities complained about either a lack of
training or the quality of training provided,
• 7 of 11 municipalities with equipment complained about
current service, and Homeland Security Grant Program Funds Awarded for Project Shield
• 4 of 11 municipalities with equipment were unable to or
unsure how to transmit video from the vehicle to the
command center.
Discussions with police personnel revealed that their primary
interest was to record and obtain video for criminal evidence.
They were uncertain whether they could transmit live video to a
monitoring station, allowing an emergency event to be managed
from a remote location.
We also analyzed trouble tickets (a reporting tool used to track
equipment issues) for the last 3 months of calendar year 2010, and
found that 62 municipalities submitted 122 trouble tickets for
equipment malfunctions, such as the inability to access database
records in the vehicle.

Now the auditors' Conclusion -

Conclusion
FEMA, the State of Illinois, the Urban Area Working Group, and
Cook County did not ensure the effective implementation of
Project Shield
. The lack of planning was evidenced by faulty
equipment, questionable locations for the equipment, and inability
to integrate with existing communication equipment. The mobile
video systems were not adequately tested to ensure that they could
be operated effectively during an emergency. Project Shield
expenditures were not adequately authorized, supported, and
verified. The weaknesses can be attributed to Cook County’s
inadequate management of the project, as well as the ineffective
monitoring by FEMA and the State of Illinois.
( emphasis my own)

The Auditors did not use any indefinite pronoun and they used the past tense COOK COUNTY DID NOT ENSURE EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROJECT SHIELD. Mike Quigley was, if I recall, Cook County Commissioner watching every penny from 1998 -2009.
Senator Marque Kirque was . . .well, Rep. Marque Kirque. That was then; this is now?

The lads will employ them indfinte pronouns and this head-scratcher will go largely ignore . . .saving the House of Pain soon to visit Stroger Fil.

Someone will say " You mean Me, too?"

*
Project Shield was previously conceived by Cook County officials and begun in 2004. The objective of the project was to provide situational awareness through audio, video and data communications from police squad cars back to their department headquarters, as well as to the County and to deploy fixed site-cameras at various locations.
Toni Preckwinkle' office June 30, 2011

Quigley was first elected to the Cook County Board of Commissioners in 1998. During his tenure he has gained a reputation as a reformer as he opposed tax hikes supported by Cook County Board President John Stroger, and later his son and successor Todd Stroger. He contended the county could operate more efficiently and he presented reports to support the position. Quigley also challenged the practice of finding jobs for Democratic officials with the Cook County Forest Preserve District

John Fritchey - The Best to Replace Rahm Emmanuel in the 5th District

Il. Representative John Fritchey describes Cook County Commissioner Mike Quigley to Speaker Mike Madigan - Speaker wonders, 'They really stack it that short?'
Rep. John Fritchey ( D -17th District) warned about Blago years ago, when Sara Feigenholtz was busy lining up to smooch the impeached/convicted and booted Governor Rod Blagojevich' s clout pimpled fanny.

Yesterday the Sun Times reported that Sara Feigenholtz not only grabbed favor from Blago, but from Gov. George Ryan as well - sic semper Progressives!

Progressives tend to be people who wear their hearts on their sleeves while digging their own greasy fingers into public coffers. IVI-IPO beauties like Hyde Park Porkers Bill Singer and Larry Bloom always give me a giggle.

Now, Jan Schakowsky ( whose hubby did a few semesters in Terra Haute Federal Pen for Check Kiting and later ran Camp Obama) has a play mate running for the Progressive boodle and endorsements.

She was endorsed by baby slayers of Emily's List and Blago's List:

State Rep. Sara Feigenholtz is positioning herself as a progressive Democrat in the race to succeed Rahm Emanuel in Congress representing the North Side of Chicago and some of the west suburbs.

But one of her opponents is making sure voters know Feigenholtz's name appears on two "clout lists" -- lists of people who allegedly secured jobs for friends from then-Secretary of State George Ryan in the 1990s and from then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich's administration.

State Rep. John Fritchey, a rival in the 5th Congressional District race, has been highlighting that connection in calls to voters.

Feigenholtz noted that Fritchey doesn't mention that many elected officials in Illinois -- including Emanuel, who is now President Obama's White House chief of staff -- also found their names on the list for acts as small as writing a letter of recommendation for people who got state jobs. That's what Feigenholtz said landed her on both clout lists.

In 1996, Feigenholtz's name appeared on a list made public in Ryan's corruption trial in which her name was linked to getting Gina Pianetto a job with the Secretary of State. On the Blagojevich list, Feigenholtz's name, misspelled "Sara Fagenholtz," appears next to a notation regarding the hiring of Suzanne Maso as a $40,000-a-year public aid intern in 2003.

http://www.suntimes.com/news/politics/1407378,CST-NWS-fifth01.article

Not only that, Sara Feigenholts is dollars over the Uriah Heep of Illinois politics - Mike Quigley - The Terror of Tiny Town!
In an early measure of strength, several candidates trying to succeed Rahm Emanuel in Congress reported fundraising totals today that suggest the brief but competitive primary campaign will attract plenty of money.

An aide to state Rep. Sara Feigenholtz (D-Chicago) said she would report raising nearly $325,000. She had not yet filed with the Federal Election Commission late Saturday.

Cook County Commissioner Mike Quigley raised $138,000 and had nearly all of it to start the year.

Quigley also has signed up Chicago businessmen Bill Brandt and Henry Feinberg as his fundraising chiefs, a spokesman said. Brandt played a prominent fundraising role for Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid, and he has longtime ties to former President Bill Clinton. Feinberg is a former chairman and CEO of Rand McNally.

http://newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/clout_st/2009/01/feigenholtz-stockpiles-campaign-cash-in-emanuel-race.html

More John Fritchey can distance himslef from the boiled beets Progressives the better voters will like him. John Fritchey was early and often in his criticism of Blago.

Quigley would take the ring-pop out of the mouth of a pre-schooler and blame someone in the 19th Ward.

Sara Fegeinholz is genuine Progressive nitwit with tons of ugly money in her fanny pack. Dines on clout and sups with Grassroots.

Voters ought to back John Fritchey! Hey, Geraldo Rivera Hates Him! That should beworth a few thousand votes.

Quigley for Congress! Toes and Ankles Above All Else

This is the Monday of the Inflated Self! Desiree Rogers who has cashed in on her 'networking' abilities as the ex-Mrs. John Rogers at Illinois Lottey, Peoples Gas ( where she managed to offend skilled professional tradesmen and weasel her way out of a jackpot with ICC), high -profile philanthropic boards where she does not need to write a check, and mnost recently at Allstate Insurance, is going to Washington D.C. where she will dazzle as Obama White House Social Secretary. Adios!
This will be a howl!!!! Tic-Toc, Desiree!

Most telling the Uriah Heep of Illinois politics - Mike Quigley is leaping over the County Board Presidency and going for Rahmm-alama Dang Dong's Congressional Seat!

If Quigley officially enters the race, he could become the anti-Daley administration candidate if Daley does weigh in formally or informally on behalf of a candidate such as O'Connor. In the past, Quigley has clashed with the mayor over issues such as tax-increment financing.

Fifteen or more aldermen, state legislators and other elected and unelected individuals, including hotelier J.B. Pritzker and attorney Matt Devine, have mentioned their names in various stages of considering a run for the seat.

The Terror of Tiny Town! Gin up your news stooges Mickey! Make a show of it, Boyo!

Governor Pat Quinn Could Get Back on Track - Study Congressman Dan Lipinski

Illinois is very much like the 3rd Congressional District* - Democrat but very conservative.

Congressman Dan Lipisnski learned when he got burned by voting for the idiotic Markey Waxman Cap and Trade Bill and stepped out into the national spotlight as the only Congressional Democrat to vote NAY on the equally dangerous Obama Care Legislation, which makes abortion and euthanasia a real choice for Progressives. Dan Lipisnki stayed true to his religious and civic convictions and enjoys powerful support -

In the 2006 primary, Lipinski was able to garner 55% of the vote against two Democratic opponents, he was re-elected in November with 79% of the vote. In the 2008 primary, Lipinski defeated three opponents, effectively clinching a third term.

Governor Pat Quinn recently jettisoned Dave Axelrod's AKPD Media. That is a good start. Say goodbye to Planned Parenthood, while you are at it, Governor. Being a woman does not mean aborting your child.

Governor Pat Quinn should model his campaign after the will of the voters of Dan Lipinski's 2rd Congressional District, rather than to continue his unrequited love affair with Progressives. Pat Quinn already has Progressive knives in his ribs - just read Capitol Fax Blog and SEIU's Progress Illinois.

Stay with the folks, Governor. Retired Illinois Represenattive Kevin Joyce enjoyed
wild support, as does Senator Ed Maloney. These guys listened to people who vote and not Pie Chart Pirates like Ralph Martire or Policy Punks from every agenda.

Queer Centric Congressman Mike Quigley** can get away with that due to the fact that most of Illinois's homosexual community resides in his District and LGBTQ Activistas are thick in the Progressive Machine -not so Braidwood, Utica, Mendota, Cobden, or Macomb.

Progressives get good, smarmy and downright unctuous press, but that has a very short realistic shelf life. Ask Barack Obama. Turn to the helots, whom the Progressives always depend upon and then turn on. Skip the middle man. Send the Progressives to the Kiddie Table from whence they came - make sure that the megaphones are without batteries - Hey, it's a tough economy!

Tell the Progressives " Hey, thanks! Can get you a drink? Six Pack to Go?"

*

The 3rd District has been described as "ancestrally Democratic, culturally conservative, multiethnic and viscerally patriotic."[15] It earned a reputation as being home to Reagan Democrats when in the 1980 presidential election it was one of only two Chicago districts (out of nine) to be won by Republican Ronald Reagan, along with the 6th District (an almost entirely suburban district which also included Chicago's O'Hare Airport); the district simultaneously reelected Democratic congressman Marty Russo with nearly 69% of the vote.[16] The Reagan Democrat description became even more appropriate when Reagan received 65% of the vote here in 1984, as Russo again won with 64%.[17] Redistricting for the 1990s shifted the district into more reliably Democratic territory, but Bill Clinton won the district in 1992 by just a 41%-39% margin despite receiving at least 65% of the vote in four other south side districts; he won the district with 53% in 1996 although his totals in the other south side districts were all between 80-85%. George W. Bush received 41% of the vote here in both 2000 and 2004 despite not exceeding 21% in any of the other four south side districts; it was his best performance in any district located primarily within Cook County. Much of the district's current suburban territory was in the 4th District from the 1950s to the 1970s, when that was a solidly Republican suburban district represented by Ed Derwinski; more recently, Lyons, Palos and Riverside Townships, which together approximately correspond with the district's western half, all voted for Bush in 2000.[18] Over the last eight presidential elections, the Democratic nominee for Congress has run an average of 20 points ahead of the party's nominee for president in the district.[19]
Redistricting which took effect for the 1992 elections kept only 40% of the district's previous area, and pitted nine-term incumbent Russo – who changed his residence rather than run in the 2nd District, which now included his previous home – against five-term incumbent Bill Lipinski, who had previously represented the 5th District, in the Democratic primary. Lipinski ran close to Russo in the suburbs but easily won the Chicago areas, and won the primary 58%-37%.[20] Lipinski was decidedly the most conservative Democrat in the Illinois delegation,[15] opposing abortion and gays in the military, supporting school prayer, tuition vouchers, the Defense of Marriage Act and the death penalty, and helping to write a proposed constitutional amendment in 1997 prohibiting flag desecration.[21][22] A member of the Blue Dog Democrats,[22] he was one of just 30 Democrats to vote for the Republican welfare reform plan.[6] He clashed often with the Clinton administration, opposing the president's position over half the time in the 1997-98 Congress.[23] He was one of 31 Democrats to vote in favor of a Judiciary Committee inquiry during the leadup to Clinton's impeachment; he eventually voted against impeachment, but simultaneously called on Clinton to resign.[24] In 1999, Lipinski stated that Clinton "doesn't have credibility on military issues," adding that "the American people feel Clinton is unsure."[22] He was a consistent opponent of U.S. free trade agreements, arguing that they were disastrous for American manufacturing.[22][6] Lipinski received higher approval ratings from the American Conservative Union than from the ACLU in 12 of his last 13 years in office, though his highest ratings generally came from labor and consumer groups[23][21] and the Christian Coalition.[25] He received a 0 rating from the ACLU for the 1997-98 term,[23] and also compiled an overall 0 rating from the National Abortion Rights Action League.[25] His policies enabled him to work easily with Republicans; he was a candidate to become Transportation Secretary in the Bush administration, and collaborated with House Speaker Dennis Hastert of the 14th District to design the state's redistricting plan following the 2000 Census.[24] Lipinski's positions were generally in line with those of district residents,[24] and after surviving with a 54%-46% win amid the Republican gains of 1994 he was reelected by increasing margins in each succeeding election; in 2002 he became the first unopposed candidate in the history of the District.[26]

**Chicagoist:

Per a recent interview with Gay Chicago Magazine, staunch LGBT ally U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Chicago) is reportedly "hopeful" for progress on a number of pieces of queer-centric legislation in Congress yet this year, but has admitted it's unlikely LGBT issues will see much movement prior to this fall's midterm elections.

N.B.
"It might be more accurate to state that Quigley behaves as if all of the city's gay population resides in the 5th Congressional district. Arguably, more of these individuals live in the 9th, home of Jan Schakowsky, but Quigley behaves as if the eastern-most precincts in the district are the only ones that matter. There are plenty of bungalow owners here who have nothing in common with Quigley and his LBQT agenda." Dedicated Reader

Obama is No "Ward Hack." Ward Hacks Actually Do Something

Every Girl Crazy 'Bout a Sharp-dressed Man! -ZZ Top

The story of Barack Obama is that of a politician who figured out he didn’t have to wait his turn, who didn’t have to pay his dues, who could take on the Machine boys and beat them at their own game — with the help of a shrewd campaign strategist and image-maker to sell him on television. -Mark Brown

President Obama looks fabulous.  I have never met a Ward Hack festooned in hand-tailored Hickey-Freeman suits.

Mark Brown wrote a very thoughtful critique of the Hannity Meme Mummers today.  The Hannity Meme Mummers are generally GOP or conservative Dems who tag President Obama as a Chicago Ward Hack.

Fox's Hannity reminds all and sundry that he, Sean Hannity, discovered Bill Ayers and Rev. Uncle Crazy Jerry Wright in 2007. Uh, Huh. Obama is about as much as a Alinsky Radical, as he is a die-hard Sox Fan.
More so, Barack H(onolulu). Obama is more of a Sox Fan and Alinsky Radical than he is a Ward Hack.

Mark Brown writes:
Here we go again with this business about Barack Obama bringing “Chicago ward politics” to the White House. . . .But I still can’t sit back while others pretend that Barack Obama is just another ward hack who miraculously rose above his station — or that he’s “Daley’s boy.”
When this emerged as a campaign theme four years ago, here’s what I wrote:
“We have lots of prominent politicians in Illinois who were ‘born of the corrupt Chicago political machine,’ as the new John McCain campaign commercial so ominously puts it.
“Some have the DNA to prove it. Others worked their way up through the patronage ranks.
“Barack Obama isn’t one of them.”
I stand by that.
I stand by that — not having forgotten that Obama’s first two White House chiefs of staff were Rahm Emanuel (who, yes, first got elected to Congress with some help from Don Tomczak’s troops, but hardly owed the election to them) and Bill Daley, brother to former Chicago Mayor Rich Daley (who dismantled the traditional ward political apparatus because it only got in his way.) In the most important election of Obama’s life, the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate, the mayor was on the sidelines.
Nor have I forgotten Obama’s strange real estate deal with the now-convicted Tony Rezko, his first big campaign donor. I’m still troubled by their friendship, and still waiting for the day we hear the whole story.
Me Too, Brother Brown.  I do not know President Obama, nor would he recognize me if I tossed through the windshield of the Presidential limo.  However, I have met with, spoken to and engageed our President on more than a few occasions.

  • When he turned down requests for support of Leo High School in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, as Director of the Woods Fund, answering to Wild Bill Ayers.
  • When he ran against most unsuccessfully against Congressman Bobby Rush
  • When he attended the Falling Leaves Festival in Morgan Park
  • When as an Illinois State Senator, he presented trophies along with IL Rep. Kevin McCarthy at the Leo Boxing Night at the Saber Room in Hickory Hills and asked me "where's the gate?" in order to enter the ring
  • When I cooked Winston's Irish sausage and bacon before the South Side Irish Parade
They were brief encounters, as are most political cheek-to-jowl gabs, to be sure and I came away from each one warmly underwhelmed.  I did not see any there, there.  Unlike Ward Hack and Policy Wonk Paul Vallas who campaigned up a storm actually liked the people he asked to vote for him, Barack Obama is like the guy who says, " Hey! Enough me talking;; how much do you really, really, really admire me?"

Paul Vallas was lost to Illinois by the very same 'geniuses" who invented Tod Stroger, Toni Preckwinkle, Mike Quigley, Forrest Claypool and of course the old Turkish psy hereself, Jan Schakowsky.

Put it this way, when Barack Obama was pushed to the purple ( US Senate & Presidential Candidate), I was not surprised, but certainly not enthralled.  He did not seem to have the gifts of being a Ward Hack.  Ward Hacks, and I know legions of them, are singularly thoughtful. generous, energetic and most of all loyal to a fault.

Barack Obama impressed me only as one of the chosen Progressives that some of the powerful guys decided to create: Jan Schakowsky, Deb Mell, Deb Shore, Mike Quigley, Forrest Claypool, Rahm Emanuel, Toni Preckwinkle and God forgive me Gov. Pat Quinn.

These folks could not pack a phone booth ( nearly extinct at the time of this posting), let alone a hall full of beefy, enthusiastic, hard-working skilled tradesmen and their wives and kids. Nope, Ward Hacks are trotted out to boost their nimble vaults over the political gradus.  They are the Sows Ears Made of out Silk Purses.

The Silk Purses are the hijacked 501 (c) 3s: Woods Fund, MacArthur Foundation, Annenburg Challenge, Joyce Foundation, whose boards are thick with former radicals and leftist academics.  Too often these silk purses are orchestrated by Abner Mikva.  Political Chiefs like old Tom Hynes, or Mike Madigan, or Richie Daley took short-cuts to opportunity by snuggling up to these silk purses in exchange for legislative policy give-aways and mutually beneficial real estate ventures. Abner might say to Tom Hynes, " This Mike Quigley kid is really a go-getter and he hates every one in the 60643-55 zipcode's collective guts.  He's really great; Tom let's do him a solid.  How's about we get Rich to get the 19th Ward crew to help Quigley and then he can make nice and really bump Helen Schiller into the cheap seats and then we can get SEIU, La Salle Bank, Personal PAC, Fred Eychaner, the Pritzker girls and even some honest money to dump some dough into any number of races?"  Deal? Deal.

That's how Progressives boarded, looted and scuttled the Good Ship Chicago Machine.

Ward Hacks have helped elect every useless, mean-spirited and back-stabbing Progressive in the Illinois pantheon.  They did so because they were asked by people whop helped them.  I love Hacks and have complete contempt for Progressives.  Progressives are not just a one way street, they are fully cul-de-sac'd. Do a Progressive a solid and wait for the blade in the kidneys - you never wait very long.

Nope President Obama is No Ward Hack - he has not the makings.  He is a Progressive.

Mike Quigley Out Front For Credit With Republic Windows -SEIU's Retro-Flint Sit-Down

Yes Sir! Bruce Springsteen is Joe Hill and Wee Mike Quigley plays Big Bill Haywood in SEIU's Imaginary Labor Pantheon.

These goofs are priceless! Talk to any real Union Man or Woman about Real Labor Struggles and they would laugh these Marxist Playactors out of the room.

In Other Imaginary Labor News - SEIU Illinois's Leader is 'Cooperating' with the Feds concerning SEIU pet and do-all Governor Milorod Blagojevich - it seems that Rod is not the Governor SEIU knew and used.

SEIU was an early supporter of Blagojevich and his biggest campaign contributor. But Balanoff said he was not involved in any wrongdoing and does not fear the investigation into alleged corruption in state government.

“I am not a target. I am not a subject. I’m not worried one bit,” he said.

Studs Terkel would have loved this Labor Re-Enactors imitation of John L. Lewis!

Even though my union has endorsed Sara Feigenholtz in this race I agree that Commissioner Quigley deserves a big shout-out for the position he took on the Republic Window crisis. I spoke witrh Mike over the weekend and by Monday morning ( in eqarly December) he had drafted a county ordinance taking Bank of America to task over their treatment of the Republic workers.

Mark Brown and Red Fred Down on Vallas - That is Good!

Fred Klonsky, brother of President Obama adviser and proud radical Red Mike hates Paul Vallas. Fred and Mike Klonsky* are the sons of Robert Klonsky a Communist veteran of the Spanish Civil War.

Fred Klonsky is not a Vallas Partisan.

Quoth the Park Ridge Trotsky, 'After screwing the CPS, even pissing off his patron The Mayor, he fled to Philadelphia. By all accounts, he made that struggling urban system even worse. Run out of Philly, he ended up in charge of the privatization of New Orleans public schools.

Now Typhoid Paul, switching to being a Republican, wants to do to Cook County government was he’s done to Chicago, Philly and NOLA schools.

Only Vallas could make a local hope for the victory of the corrupt present head of the Board, Todd Stroger.'

Fred, I like your spleen! Sounds like me on Quigley. Howsomeever, Vallas is a good guy and Quigley the polar opposite being just that. Now, Fred, really,'By all accounts, he made that struggling urban system even worse. Run out of Philly, he ended up in charge of the privatization of New Orleans public schools.'

Most accounts say Paul Vallas did very well - in Philly and in Louisiana.

Ain't that something! Quigley hates Vallas; therefore, Brown hates Vallas. Klonsky hates Vallas; Reds and the Boiled Beets Progressives ( Hyde Park Deep Thinkers,SEIU and their cadres) who lap up Red doctrine will hate Paul Vallas - doctrinally speaking of course. And Stroger and Daley and . . .Hate on one side and Love o t'other! I love Paul Vallas! Man crush. Admire. Like a hole bunch. Trust. Gets my vote.

Mark Brown tries to muddy the waters with race-baiting innuendo in his column this AM and tries to get Paul's goat, but Vallas turned Mark Brown into Feta.

Well the true colors are out - Brown against Vallas and the Red Klonsky's want no Paul.

Our lasting visual memory of Dorothy has her standing in a midst of a room full of young activists in 1966. Cigarette in hand and using that throaty voice to rally us against the latest act of injustice or brutality against the community by the guardians of the capitalist system. She was scolding, encouraging and praising. She was one of those veterans of the struggle that was able and willing to cross the generational divide.

For us red-diaper babies and SDS activists coming of age in the radical movement in L.A. in the 60s, Dorothy was at once a revolutionary role model, a leader, teacher, critical friend and a member of the family.

Dorothy taught us that being a revolutionary was a life-long proposition, a genuine commitment to siding with the underdog, fighting racism, war and every form of social injustice and inequity. She taught us to stand firm on matters of principle, while being good at uniting with those in the movement with whom we disagreed. We probably didn't learn that last one well enough. Sorry Dorothy.

We often disagreed but loved the give and take. We always knew that when push came to shove, she would be there in the front lines of the battle. That give and take with mutual love and respect went on until she died. News of her passing saddens us, along with a whole generation of L.A., activists that Dorothy trained, led and nurtured.
She will always be a part of us.
In struggle,

Mike, Fred & Susan Klonsky

Congressman Mike Quigley Wows Washington D.C. Quigley Plans to Sleep It Off In D.C. Office!

Rep. Barney Franks and his significant other were awakened at 3:00 am by a loud pounding on the door.

Chairman Franks gets up and goes to the door where a drunken diminutive stranger, standing in the pouring rain, is asking for a push.

'Not a chance,' says the husband, 'it is 3:00 in the morning!'
He slams the door and returns to bed.

'Who was that?' asked Barney's Life-Partner.

'Just some drunk little guy asking for a push,' he answers.

'Did you help him?' asks the Cohabitant.

'No, I did not, it is 3:00 in the morning and it is ppppppouring rain out there!'

'Well, you have a short memory,' says his thoughtful Concubinista.

'Can't you remember about three months ago when we broke down, and those two delightful young sailors helped us? I think you should help him, Barney, and you should be ashamed of yourself!'

The Congressional Puffer Fish does as he is told, gets dressed, and goes out into the pppppppppounding rain. Barney calls out into the dark,

'Hello, are you still there?'

'Yes,' comes back the answer.

'Do you still need a push?' calls out the Banking Committee Genius.

'Yes, please!' comes the reply from the dark.

'Where are you?' asks the husband.

'Over here on the swing, I'm Congressman Mike Quigley!' replied the drunk.

Politico Says 'Get to Know Mike Quigley' and That Pain in Your Kidneys is Phantom Pain -Your Wallet's Missing!

Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) is a hockey-loving, hard-fightin’ type of guy who has a lot to live up to — or reform — while holding Rod Blagojevich’s and Rahm Emanuel’s old seat.

by Politikos' -Anne Shredder Mills:

What’s the hardest thing to get used to in Washington?

When you come in on a special election, there’s no pause for orientation. It’s kind of like being transferred to a new high school halfway through the year. Besides the steep learning curve and catching up on institutional memory, it’s hard to figure out where the cool kids’ table is, but Barney Franks and Danny Davis let me into the cool caucuses. We goof on the squares and punk Dan Lipinski. Oh, and the pizza. I miss my Chicago deep dish and Ann Sather’s cinnamon rolls. Another thing is the door knobs are all changed. In the County Building, Forrest had them drop them down for me.

You’re a hockey enthusiast. How many fights have you gotten into while playing hockey?

One too many, and I have the stitches to prove it. That Jan Schakowsky thought I was the help.

What was the worst fight?

The one that Mr. Daly - the father of Mary Ellen Daly - which I avoided that was the worst fight I never had - like all ones I fought and never had on the County Board, I guess.

Would you rather check a guy or make a great pass?

Pass. I never accept a check. I learned from Bernie Hanson that cash is King!

And what about this fight at the Blackhawks game a few months ago? What happened there?

I did my part beating back the evil horde from Tiny Town.

You’re one of these “sleeps in his office” types. Why?

I'll sleep anywhere. The County. The Ward. Oh, Congress! Here, you mean. Not when CSPan's panning, It’s a short commute. Now if I could just convince the cleaning crew not to vacuum at 2 p.m.

Has Emanuel given you any advice on his old district?

Before the election, his advice was to never forget who the #$%^ got you to Washington, you half-pint mother#$%^&er: the voters - #$%^ them!. We may have slightly different vocabularies, but at around 5 feet 7 inches, we see eye to knee.

Blago’s book just came out. Have you read it? Do you plan to?

Probably not, I don't know that many words. I prefer history to fiction and cartoons to landscape painting.

There’s an open seat next to each of the following: Reps. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), Edolphus Towns (D-N.Y.) and John Conyers (D-Mich.). Which one do you choose and why?

Oh, so that’s where the cool kids’ table is. I’d actually like to spend more time with [Rep.] John Lewis (D-Ga.); I’ve been reading his book. A few weeks after being sworn in, my first co-sponsored bill — the Civil Rights Oral History Project — was signed into law, and the president invited me to join him and some colleagues in the Oval Office for the bill signing. I got a P-51 model that I built here its cool and one like them Colored Guys Flew in that War. There I was, standing with Congressman Lewis and the president. And I showed them the model and they said it was cool too. Just three weeks before that, I was standing on the floor of the Cook County Board and looking right at Tony Peraica's shoe laces. He busted up my first model of the plane the Colored Guys Flew - Tusk-something. Tony's Republican and Republicans Hate Coloreds and I Love Coloreds. Without hesitation I thought to myself, “Yeah, this is better.” The paint on the tail of this one is so much cooler. The President said so.

Paul Vallas - Meets The Opposition in Mark Brown and What Lies Beneath

I believe that Mark Brown, who is fed scoops of news by the Uriah Heep of Illinois Politics, Cook County Commissioner Mike Quigley, pounced early on news that Paul Vallas would return to challenge Todd Stroger for President of the Cook County Board as a Republican, in order to put some root rot under Paul's path.

Click my post title for Mark Brown's column.

In his column today, Brown catalogues career Democrats who switched parties to advance their holds on the public imagination - Aurelia Puchinski, Ed Vrydolyak, Bernie Stone & etc. - as means of poisoning the well for Vallas. Mark Brown has had a long detestation of the 19th Ward and got embroiled in a dispute with a Mike Quigley challenger Miss Daly some years back*. Miss Daly's father as I recall had words for Mark Brown. It got ugly - for Mark Brown.

Ugly lasts and so Mark Brown seemed to go after Paul Vallas and his motives. 'Why GOP?' asks Mark Brown.

Well, gee Mark, the Chicago and Cook County Democrats did handsomely for Paul Vallas, prior to his exile in Philly, his attempt to get on the ballot against Blago in 2006, and his subsequent voyage to Louisiana. Paul Vallas is a Greek American and that means that his memory is sharper than any Irish grudge holder ( and that is longer than the odds on any Subway World Series). Paul Vallas remembers the people who were threatened by his work ethic, skills, honesty and energy. He knows who is slapping his back. Vallas understands what lies beneath a newspaper writer's questions and from whence those questions sprung up.

Paul Vallas gave Brown a terse and honest answer, 'Vallas also emphasized that this state's Democratic establishment, with the exception of the Sheahans, abandoned him in 2002 against Blagojevich, then blocked him from running for governor in 2006 because of his residency.' The Sheahans are great people - loyal, honest, energetic and did I mention that they are loyal? So is Paul Vallas.

Vallas will do well. He knows the ground - some of it is solid and some paths are sink holes.

Obama Girl Busted - Reality7 Sara Winner Now Alpha Mike Foxtrot!

Image result for reality7 sara winner
Reality7 Sara Winner - HBO series in the line-up?   Sorry, that was mean.
Protect Whistleblowers: Often the best source of information about waste, fraud, and abuse in government is an existing government employee committed to public integrity and willing to speak out. Such acts of courage and patriotism, which can sometimes save lives and often save taxpayer dollars, should be encouraged rather than stifled as they have been during the Bush administration. We need to empower federal employees as watchdogs of wrongdoing and partners in performance. Barack Obama will strengthen whistleblower laws to protect federal workers who expose waste, fraud, and abuse of authority in government. Obama will ensure that federal agencies expedite the process for reviewing whistleblower claims and whistleblowers have full access to courts and due process.  Obama & Biden 2008
On Monday, she ( Reality7 Sara Winner) was charged after the FBI arrested her Saturday at her home in Augusta, Georgia. She faces up to 10 years in prison for the classified leak, according to CNN. She's back in court on Thursday.
Winner was accused of leaking a report that showed Russian intelligence tried to hack U.S. voting systems before the election in November. The Intercept shared printed pages of the report, and the folds and creases in the documents gave away that they had been "printed and hand-carried out of a secured space." From that, the agency saw six people had printed the report and then tracked down the one person from the group who had emailed the news outlet.
Her motivations for leaking are not yet known. But she left a lot information about herself online. She was active on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for years and shared her anti-Trump and other political sentiments on the platforms. Mashable.com
Sara Winners @Reezlie@JZarif There are many Americans protesting US govt aggression towards Iran. If our Tangerine in Chief declares war, we stand with you!

@JZarif "There are many Americans protesting US govt aggression towards Iran." Name two.

Oh, that's right.  Barack Obama and Valerie Jarrett.

Reality7 Sara Winner too. . . . and Baby Makes Three! But, what about Vlad the Bad and the Muscovite Deplorables?

Reality7 Sara Winners is Federal Employee, an NSA contractor, and she and people like her are the reason Barack Obama became President and remained President. She looks like a character created by HBO - quirky, smirky and no fan of the man with Orange tan and mane in the White House.

This is odd.  Image result for spaulding smailsOne might, might mind you, suppose, that having consumed the memes pumped out by the minute at CNN and New York Times that the Russian colluder would be some Spaulding-like cousin of President Trump, or an Obama fired ex-military snake eater.

Rather, we have a Lena Dunham look-alike with a real metaphorical stiffy for President Trump and a Federal Employee covered by Obama's Whistle Blower Deep State Spakle.

Four neat guys, called the Intercept, received classified documents from Reality Sara Winner and the Russians got a back door to the NSA firewall. The Intercept is owned by Pierre Omidyar and has a dubious record of achievement,

NSA info is as easy to get as one of them Walgreens Red Noses.  Everyone has it.  Wee Little Mike Quigley of Congress wildly waved his crocidile arms to all one and sundry about Russkies tweaking the Illinois Board of Elections, "If you had read what I had read and heard and so forth, and you watch this president and how he's acted under certain situations, if there's ever a president who would defy the Supreme Court, this is the one," Image result for tiny mike quigleyQuigley said..

Little Mike is on the House Intelligence Committee and is gabbier than Col. McCormick about Midway Codes.

Reality7 is one of Barack Obama's heroic patriots playing at whistleblower.

Boy, that Trump is sure dangerous.

Quigley and Claypool - Southern Illinois University - Early Eighties - with a Sears Catalog

An imaginative fictive turn* of the lives of the Self-absorbed:

Roosevelt University student Mike Quigley visited Forrest Claypool of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale for the summer where both worked as fry cooks for Dave's 'Every Picture Tells a Story -Donut!'

Both chaps were engaged in the study of Government and how government can best separate the wallets from citizens. They learned well. Nevertheless, the ardent Progressive scholars busied their days at Dave's dropping dough - the flour, egg and soda variety.

Their evenings were spent in mutual salvos of political tactics and strategies, and in the wistful exercises of jejune male fantasies.

The Sears Catlog arrived at the trailer Claypool.

FC- "Mike did you see how beautiful these models are in the Sears Catalog?"

MQ - " I did, Forrest, and they are not all that expensive!"

FC- "It says, 'Immediate Delivery' - Let's Order, today!"

The winsome youths pooled their coppers and silver and Rushed a Money Order to Sears Roebuck & Company Headquartered in Mike's hometown of Chicago - at the newly opened Sears Tower.

Days passed and quality Donuts were scooped from the bubbling cauldron in Dave's 'Every Picture Tells A Story -Donut' and nights melted in dreamy expectation.

Mike Quigley worked the late shift and received a Call from his buddy landlord -"Packages Here!"

After work Mike stumped his way to the Rolling Cloud Trailer Park outside of Carbondale on the road to Cobden.

Moist with anticipation, the future Cook County Board Pit Bull and U.S. Congressman shouted to his equally ambitious and horny pal, " Are the Girls Here, Yet?"

The tall and stylishly attired Progressive Cub Scout replied, " No Mike, but they should be here soon! Their clothes arrived!"

. . .and Illinois was the better for these earnest youths!

Residency, Presidency, Cook County Needs Vallas

The nuanced voices are stacatto signalling caveats to Paul Vallas who announced thoughts of returning to Cook County and help fix the clown opera directed by Todd Stroger.

Todd Stroger was placed in the purple plush seat by some very nuanced thinkers in the Democratic Party who read in the tea leaves that Paul Vallas might, just might mind you, upset plans for off spring and even solidly emplaced 'powers that is.'

Paul Vallas was abandoned by the Democratic Leadership in Chicago and Cook County when he ran against Milorod Blagojevich, a shameless gate-crasher with clout, for Governor of Illinois.

Last week, Mark Brown of the Sun Times offered a nuanced reflection of Democrats turned Republican Past who failed in their bids at elected office in racially charged election cycles. I imagine that Brown had a Nuanced Chat with Quigley about Paul Vallas and Quigley, not to be brought up short(er) by a formidable man like Vallas jumped up to Brown's willing ears. Brown's nuances were deftly batted aside by Paul Vallas. Race is The Place for Nuanced Hack. Race works and so does Residency.

Today, Kristen McQueary, kind of a neighborhood girl, nuances the residency card:

Once again if he runs, he'll be doing it having not lived here for some time. He and his wife bought a home in Palos Heights, but Vallas spends most weeks in the bayou.

Maybe that means he still lives in Philly, according to his calculus.

How about this: Paul Vallas runs for office like a big boy, following all the rules. If he's a Democrat, he runs as a Democrat. We're kind of tired of schemes around here.

If Vallas runs for GOP Cook County Board president, he hasn't ruled out also running for a commissioner seat on the 17-member Cook County Board. That's how John Stroger did it. He held a commissioner seat, and therefore had a vote, while also serving as board president.

Todd Stroger opted not to run for a commissioner seat; he serves only as board president and does not have a vote.

In 2002, Paul took the Philly job and Sharon and the kids remained here and tried to sell their house. By 2005, most people in Illinois wished that they could have had a Governor Do-Over, as Joliet Land-Fill Rod had fallen out with Dick Mell and many others. Vallas sold his Morgan Park neighborhood home at 25$% West 107th Street, because the brilliant Burt Odelson had been blocked by the courts in allowing Paul Vallas to appear on the 2006 ballot for Governor against the nuanced Rod Blagojevich and that he was saddled with a huge campaign debt from 2002. Took a long time for the Vallas Family to sell that Georgian, but the Vallas Family was never too far from home, while Paul worked in Philly.

Heck, Paul Vallas continues to be an active Strategic Planning Board Member for Leo ( Catholic) High School in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood. Paul and Sharon bought a home in Palos Heights quite some time ago, while Paul worked in Philly and subsequently headed to Crescent City to help straighten out post-Katrina Louisiana education for Gov. Bobby Jindal. Nevertheless, Paul and Sharon remained more in-touch with Illinois than the Nuanced Hack Supported Serving Govenor ( now impeached and convicted and out of office but on TV everywhere!) and the Empurpled and Daffy Todd Stroger, President of the Cook County Board.

Shoot, me and the neighbors talk to Paul and Sharon all the time.

Paul Vallas is not an educator, he is a budget and policy professional who was first brought into the Public Eye by Illinois Senator Phil Rock, a man of talent and integrity. Paul Vallas is needed in Cook County, for openers, and in the State of Illinois.

Save the nuance for the next idiot the Nuanced Voices of Journalism want to trot out for public office - with, of course the counsel of beauties like Mike Quigley.

McCain/Palin: Steve Rhodes at NBC's Division Street Blog Restores Chicago Reporting!

That's Steve Rhodes -editor of Beachwood Reporter and NBC-Division Street casting pearls to swine -wearing lipstick and without!

Steve Rhodes is editor of the great Media Watch Blog The Beachwood Reporter

Steve Rhodes also manages NBC's Division Street Blog which tends to treat readres better than most Chicago newspaper political columnists.

Mr. Rhodes and I rarely, if ever, agree on things political. However, we agree that most politicians and political commentators are encrusted with equine effluvia -horse shit. Daley ( not John Daley whatsoever), Blago, Stroger, Quigley, Claypool, Shakowsky, Lipinski, and - my fingers are cramping - others are like a tribe of New Guinea spearmen encrusted with fecal matter. Like wise political pundits -print and public - have layers of horse shit abounding: Marin, Brown, Dold, Chapman, Greeley, Mitchell &etc.

Today, Steve Rhodes save Chicago journlism at Division Street:

Was Alaska Governor Sarah Palin really plucked from “relative obscurity” to run on John McCain’s ticket? Should a politician whom Matt Damon has never heard of be allowed on a national ticket? (Hey, Matt, when did you first hear of Barack Obama? A convention speech?) Is she really lying about the Bridge to Nowhere and her maverick credentials?

I took a spin through the ProQuest database of America’s newspapers and found, in fact, that the coverage of Sarah Palin in real time gibes perfectly with the image she and her allies are presenting. Take an objective journey with me and decide for yourself.

I’ll start with the Chicago dailies just to satisfy local curiosity and then move to the national press and wire services. This collection represents virtually every article returned in my search; I have omitted nothing of consequence or anything that would present a different view.

Sarah Palin in the Chicago Tribune

1. HEADLINE: Governor cancels ‘bridge to nowhere’
DATE: Sept. 22, 2007
EXCERPT: “Gov. Sarah Palin ordered state transportation officials Friday to abandon the “bridge to nowhere” project that became a nationwide symbol of federal pork-barrel spending.”

2. HEADLINE: Here’s the buzz: Sites help you keep up with trends (about google trends)
DATE: Oct. 19, 2007
EXCERPT: You can use buzz trackers to find out what’s making news, a sort of meta version of a news site’s “most e-mailed” list. Why, you may ask, is a “Sarah Palin” showing up on one list? A few clicks and, aha, she’s the get-tough (and photogenic!) Alaska governor getting the national-media spotlight right now.

3. HEADLINE: Alaska governor generates VP buzz
DATE: March 14, 2008
EXCERPT: Gov. Sarah Palin will be the first to admit that it might be a stretch for a hockey mom from Alaska to be considered for the No. 2 spot on Sen. John McCain’s presidential ticket.

But there’s an undeniable national buzz surrounding the first-term governor, seen by many Republicans as a fresh, new face to represent the party’s future.

Palin says she has not spoken to McCain about the prospect. But it came up when she was in Washington two weeks ago for a National Governors Association meeting. She rubbed elbows with others cited as vice-presidential possibilities: Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a Republican, and Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano, a Democrat.

“We all had a meeting with President Bush and he said, ‘Look at all these vice presidents sitting here,’” Palin said.

As for her recent news that she is pregnant with her fifth child, Palin said: “I’m very confident that a pregnant woman should not and doesn’t have to be prohibited from doing anything, including running for vice president.”

The Tribune columnist today retells the jokes of late-night comics about Sarah Palin without any recognition of how offensive many of them are. For example:

Bill Maher: “I, John McCain, am the only one standing between the blood-thirsty Al Qaeda and you. But if I die, this stewardess can handle it.”

Jimmy Kimmel: “[S]he looks like one of those women in the Van Halen videos who takes off her glasses, shakes out her hair, and then all of a sudden, she’s in high heels and a bikini.”

David Letterman: “[She looks] like the lady in the dental office who gives you the keys to the restroom” and “like the woman in the department store who tries to spray you with perfume.”

Steve Rhodes, who manages and edits of the best Media Watching Blogs The Beachwood Reporter, also runs Chicago NBC's Division Street Blog.

Steve and I rarely agree on politics ( and the Piggies who slurp at its trough), but we agree on depth and fecundity of the equine effluvia tossed by the bulk of politicians and their parasites.

Steve and I agree that a saloon and not a salon is the very best place to hear, injest and disseminate political thought.

Today, Steve Rhodes offers an honest and open assessment of the HAWKEE MAWM from Wassila - with whom I am enchanted. I have no illusions that Sarah Palin would not shoot, geld, and field dress me were it in her political interests; yet, I find her to be free of the horse-shit that encoats Daley ( all but John Daley - he is H/S Free), Blagojevich, Quigley, Claypool, Shakowsky, Stroger, and Durbin. Most political journalists or would be political journalists surpass the professional horse-hit merchants - Zorn, Brown, Dold, Chapman, Greeley, Sweet, Mitchell, and Marin.

Steve Rhodes, Mark Rhoads,Steve Huntley, Levois,Cal Skinner, Bill Baar, John Rubery, Anne Leary, Tom Roeser, Phil Kadner, Kristen McQueary tend to be horse-shit free.

Steve, I'll buy you one the size of Quigley's Ego!
