Let's Remember Prohibtion - The Dawn of the Nanny State

If I remember correctly, yesterday January 16th is the Anniversary of Prohibition - the 18th Amendment, the Great Experiment, a Ken Burns PBS Masterpiece and the Dawn of the American Nanny State.

Americans used to remember.  To Remember is to honor.  Americans are too busy with celebrities, Twitter, IPads, and Echo Chamber thought patterns.

  • Remember the Alamo?            'That was a car rental '
  • Remember the Maine?            'The main what?'
  • Remember Pearl Harbor?       'We dropped the Bomb there?'
  • Remember Your Manners?      'Who are YOU to say? @#$% Off, Dude!
Progressives erase historical facts, persons, attitudes, words and thoughts in order to build The Right Side of History - always have and always will.  The need to forget is essential to transforming America from a capitalist, racist war-mongering land of 1%ers to a Harrison Bergeron ( Read the whole story) dystopia ruled by the less-than- 1%-ers: Color not character/Party Not/Worth.

Let's try and remember Prohibition - the 18th Amendment ratified by Utah on January 16th, 1919.

Prohibition was a disaster developed and promulgated by Progressives in the 19th Century - a broad coalition that included Frances Willard's WCTU, Jane Addams, Roger Baldwins ACLU, Methodists, United Church of Christ, Baptists, Congregationalists, the Ku Klux Klan and Planned Parenthood.   The movement to Prohibit the sale and possession of strong drink morphed from a fundamentalist evangelical religious attitude to power politics phenomenon so evident today.

The 18th Amendment was ratified by 36 States and became the law of the land and it was repealed because of the Depression in 1934.  It was a colossal exercise in human misery.  The Progressives no longer use the ballot box.  They employ legislation at the local, state and federal level and they also shop for judges.

One thing they learned from The Great Experiment was - never allow individuals to have a say about anything.

Remember something.

Get Your Fat Ass Out of Church! Nutrition, Progressive Nanny State Goats and the Need for Speed

My Considered, Albeit Unscientific, Retort to a Progressive's Research on my Nutritional Lifestyle, at North Ave. Beach on Recent Sunny Day in the Company of a Woman I Love.

A new study has found that young adults who frequently attend religious activities are 50 percent more likely to become obese by middle age compared with those who don’t take part in any religious events. Chicago Sun Times Stephano Esposito March 25, 2011

Again, when men commence an undertaking, they always are prepared to show that the absolute necessities of the world demanded its completion . . . ( think of High Speed Rails between Peotone and Custer Park; Fois Gras Bans, Reversing the Chicago River, Homosexual Puppets and Personalities on PBS for Toddlers, Eating only the Foods We Say One May ) . . . One or other of these points at least is incontrovertible: the public wants a thing, therefore it is supplied with it; or the public is supplied with a thing, therefore it wants it. William Makepeace Thackeray The Book of Snobs: Parenthetical contemporary commentary my own.

Thus, it was in the waning days of Regency England and the Advent of Victoria Regina and so remains in this our Progressive America - the one cork screwed into the loam by the forced free mortgages crafted by Barney Frank and Fannie Mae; The TARP magic that averted a debt crisis unprecedented until the one bubbling up around our butts; the Federal Platform for Planned Parenthood's American Abortion Industry; Public Schools; Gay Marriage and Civil Unions; Our On-going Op-ed Obesity Kristallnacht.

Once the Public is Force Fed, the public is sated. Now, to the War on Lardasses!

Sunday's Chicago Sun Times offered another heaping plateful of juicy caveats with regard to our fat co-workers and group health insurance. Incentives for Healthy Lifetsyles encouraging comrades of the workforce to exercise and forgo the cheese melt sandwiches from the roach coach and canteen vending machines. Likewise, educational cheerleading about nutritional foods that are actually medicine is offered in which one man of science and math from the research organization offering the morning's portion shouts this!

“The IFIC defines functional foods as “foods or food components that may provide benefits beyond basic nutrition.”

People are 1,000 percent more conscious of the fact that food can act as medicine and help prevent lots of diseases,” says Jean Carper, author of several best-selling books about functional food."
Well, how about that for science, Fat Boy! That's 10 times the 100% in your CPA scribblings. Just like them dead polar bears floating snouts to the globally fatal sun, we got us some science!

Why, only last March, The Sun Times proved with equally impressive lab-coat certainty that going to Christian Church, not a Mosque mind you, added unsightly and probably breeder poundage.

Check out this opening sentence!

We don’t know why frequent religious participation is associated with development of obesity, but the upshot of these findings highlight a group that could benefit from targeted efforts at obesity prevention,” said Matthew Feinstein, the study’s lead investigator and a fourth-year student at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. “It’s possible that getting together once a week and associating good works and happiness with eating unhealthy foods could lead to the development of habits that are associated with greater body weight and obesity.”

The study tracked 2,433 young men and women for 18 years in Chicago, Minneapolis, Birmingham, Ala., and Oakland, Calif.

In the study, “frequent” religious participation meant attending at least one event per week. Most, but not all of the participants, were Christians — reflecting the dominant religion in the United States, Feinstein said.

The natural huffing and puffing that follows Evangelical Trencherman Tom as we waddles out of the corporate cubicle to the snack canteen, inspite of the fact that Tubby Tom heaps profits to the shareholders by dint of his talents for investment, gets on the nerves of his svelt bicycling vegan atheist compeers who have the ear of the Boardroom, though they do but little corporate good. You see Tubby Tom munches and works, while his svelt peers preach Progressive memes all shift and beyond.

Our Progressive Lard Snobs have a smorgasbord of 'scientific' Gobble-Dee-Gook from which to pile it on the people that they want to vacate their Green Planet. One such bucket of thought-lard is Obesity-in-America.org. Announce a crisis and get back-up for Crisis Management.

Smokers, Breeders, Church-goers, and Tubbies had better watch out and better not cry. Stay out of Church, drop that 'Baccy, March or Die!

The media helped us into our economic swamp by offering clarion calls for the raising of debt, the bad mortgage give-aways and the Civil Rights of homosexual intercourse, free health insurance and in no time at all High Speed Rails that will ban transporting Fat Asses.

Whatever Happened to the "Street Lights Are On!" Parental Ordinance?

Little guys in Morgan Park neighborhood (St. Cajetan's Parish) only seconds away from the dreaded "Street Lights R On!" Ordinance. - Universally agreed upon and universally enforced.

Chicago City Council -the Aldermen - know how to pass ordinances that keep fois gras off the the gustatory line-up; end American involvement in foreign war; pad their bank accounts . . .! However, they are especially adept at getting their constituents to stop calling -"What are you doing to save the children?" -(riiiing)'Welcome to the Ward Office! for English Press One, For Tagalog Press Three, all others Press Hold. . . . Press one for Alderman B. Arely There's Ward Office Phone Call Ordinance # A-666 which Levies a Surcharge of $20.00 charged to the AT &T Spanish American War Tax of 1897 - on your monthly Bill, which applies to a special Save our Kids From You Name It in 2012 Budget.' Thank you for Calling and Call Often.'

Little kids are getting mowed down at 3:20 AM while helping bring in the family dog for the night.

What's City Council to do?

Chicago kids under the age of 12 would have to be in the house by 8:30 p.m. on weekdays and 9 p.m. on weekends, under a curfew crackdown proposed by three South Side aldermen Wednesday to rein in “unsupervised” children.

Public Safety Committee Chairman Michelle Harris (8th) joined Aldermen Toni Foulkes (15th) and Lona Lane (18th) in proposing the revised curfew ordinance, the second in three years to turn back the curfew clock.

Several parents told the Chicago Sun-Times Wednesday that the proposal is just what’s needed at a time when some moms and dads aren’t taking their responsibilities seriously.

“We’re at a point where we have to be more conscious of where our children are,” said Toseima Jiles, 33, of Hyde Park, who has two boys, ages 6 and 5. “When I was growing up, your parents knew where you were, the neighbors knew where you were. ... I think we’re getting away from that.”

But parent Karen Hobbs dismissed the proposed curfew as a case of governmental meddling.

Whatever happened to "Hey, Street Lights Are On!"

Moms and Dads sit out on the porch and watch the kids grab fireflies and play Chase in between the alleys and gangways and when Com Ed hits the switch and street lights go on the little guys are in the house.

This time-honored mandate only required parents and neighbors. Didn't cost nothing.

The Genius Ben Stein Rolls The Fatuous Mayor Bloomberg's Salt-Free Abortions

Ben Stein is a gentleman to the backbone. Mayor Bloomberg is a parsing dweeb with billions of dollars. One is a mensch and a half and the mayor a nebish squared. . . or as Skinny Sheahan might say, "Ben's a Pair and Mike's Lacking Both."

I read this brilliant piece by Ben Stein in the The American Standard - published and edited by Fenwick Friar Bob Tyrrell.

I am endlessly amazed at how backwards we humans get things in our lives. Just let me give you two very basic examples, one of which is a crime against humanity.

I keep reading in the New York Times that Mayor Bloomberg, a billionaire health nut, is on a campaign against having too much salt in foods in New York City restaurants. His belief is that New Yorkers and visitors shorten their life spans by eating too much salt and therefore raising their blood pressure in a dangerous way. If he took control over the salt content in New York restaurants, he could save a few dozen lives per year, he believes.

But, wait a moment. I also read in the New York Times that New York City is one of the abortion capitals of the nation, with a much higher rate of abortion than most other parts of the nation. And Mayor Bloomberg is a great fan of "…a woman's right to choose…" to abort her baby.

As I calculate it in a rough way, New York City has about 8 million persons living there, or about (very roughly) 3 per cent of the nation's population. And New York has a much higher abortion rate than the rest of the nation. So it is possible that New Yorkers have about 50,000 abortions per year, or maybe a lot more.

That is 50,000 killings of totally innocent children every year. Does Mayor Bloomberg think that his anti-salt campaign means much compared with that number? If he wants to save lives, why doesn't he throw his tiny weight and his huge purse behind right to life? That's a truly life-saving act.

This whole subject endlessly fascinates and horrifies me. We campaign against obesity -- and we should -- because it shortens life. But nothing else makes life as short as abortion. We campaign for more exercise -- and I heartily agree -- because it lengthens life. But, again, no amount of exercise would offset the over 1,000,000 excess American deaths each year caused by abortion of the totally innocent. We want safer cars. We want cleaner air. We want cleaner water. All to save life. But there is nothing we could do that would save more lives than to truly stop abortion in all but the most extreme cases of need.

Why? Why are we so blind to the mass murder of the innocent?

It do give one pause, Ben.
