Eponym of the Year - Doctor Unk Charged with DUI



  • sandwich: named after John Montagu, the Fourth Earl of Sandwich (1718–1792), a British politician.


  • cardigan: a knitted garment, such as a sweater or jacket, that opens down the front. Named after the Seventh Earl of Cardigan, James Thomas Brudenell (1797–1868), a British army officer.
A Delaware County grand jury returned an indictment this week against a doctor accused of driving while drunk.

According to the Delaware County Prosecutor's Office, Worthington doctor Elizabeth Unk drove while drunk and struck a bicyclist who was riding along a roadway.

The alleged incident occurred on Sept. 12 along U.S. 23 and Green Meadows Drive.

Unk, 38, is charged with one count of vehicular assault and two counts of driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, drugs or a combination of them.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol determined that Unk's blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

Unk's driver's license has been suspended.
