Nothing must be held sacred. Question everything. God is not great, Jesus is not your lord, you are not disciples of any charismatic prophet. You are all human beings who must make your way through your life by thinking and learning, and you have the job of advancing humanity's knowledge by winnowing out the errors of past generations and finding deeper understanding of reality. You will not find wisdom in rituals and sacraments and dogma, which build only self-satisfied ignorance, but you can find truth by looking at your world with fresh eyes and a questioning mind. PZ Meyers
That's PZ Meyers - getting hip with the kids who have to take his class. He really does look like a four star jerk-off.
SEIU hired the kids of Progressive Privilege - e.g. Josh Kalven is the son of Jaimie Kalven a Hyde Park Brahmin and Pan-Activist - to really get a radical roux going in the Gumbo that is Illinois Democratic politics.
Traditional Democrats - smart and hard-working people - find themselves in the audience forced to cheer the Leftist bilge from the Cheering sections: bloggers and nuanced Democratic Party spin-medics. Kind of like baby Axelrods.
The new Nuance - requires spitters and whiners to fill the air-waves ( remember Milt Rosenberg's Show during the POTUS Campaign?) and troll all over the Blogoshere. The Nuance has journalists in the vest pocket already.
Progress Illinois is driven by humorless and arrogant young kids and subsidized with Union Dues paid by SEIU members who are not well-represented by that Monster PAC that masquerades as Labor Union - in my opinion. Here's Young Master Kalven's use of PZ Meyers with Dues Paying Memebership Money going to Young Master Kalven:
Biologist Smacks Down Shimkus Straw Man
by Josh Kalven on March 30, 2009 - 12:40pm
Late on Friday, we posted some video of GOP Rep. John Shimkus' ridiculous remarks at a Capitol Hill climate change hearing last week. In the days since, the two clips have been burning up the internet. They provoked great responses from Think Progress, Matt Yglesias, and The Washington Monthly. But the best rebuttal has to come from University of Minnesota-Morris biologist PZ Myers (pictured right) on the blog Pharyngula. Here he is on Shimkus' contention that capping CO2 emissions could have the unintended consequence of "taking away plant food" and "doing just the opposite of what the people who want to save the world are saying":
They were part of an orchestrated effort to smear Illinois Representative John Shimkus (R.IL 19th District - Central Illinois - Coal Country) - hell, until the soul-patch commandos got all over John Shimkus, I never gave the poor man a second thought.
Now, I really, really admire the guy. He was attacked for debunking the Cap and Trade Doctrine* which I believe to be a foolish and even stupid policy especially in the current economy - it will destroy the very weak Illinois Coal Industry.
In order to 'GET' Shimkus the beauties at Progress Illinois trotted out a biology teacher from Minnesota who hates all religion and got to be a loud mouth critic of GW Bush over Intelligent Design and etc. PZ Meyers is a nerdy little twerp who asked his students to sneak out a consecrated communion wafer.
Catholics ( Full disclosure I is one) believe God is present in the Consecrated Wafer as PZ calls it - Transubstantiation -His ( Christ's) body and blood are truly contained in the sacrament of the altar under the forms of bread and wine, the bread and wine having been transubstantiated, by God's power, into his body and blood.
PZ Meyers wanted a student to desecrate the Eucharist. He did not order his students to desecrate the Koran, like a heroic and very dead Danish film-maker happened to do, because in PC America PZ Meyers can desecrate the Eucharist of Catholics. Catholics are targeted by the hip - Bill Maher, HBO, MSNBC and the failing Chicago newspapers.
Catholics are anti-abortion, and against Gay Marriage and against Promiscuity in general. Hollywood needs all of the above. Big money.
The Pope and the Bishops can be mocked for speaking out on Catholic Doctrine. So can critics of Cap and Trade.
PZ Meyers is a cowardly, sad, over paid, but employed, self-absorbed punk. He is the perfect model of the American Progressive - secularists, hypocritical, and loud.
SEIU picked a plum with PZ Meyers.
*A central authority (usually a government or international body) sets a limit or cap on the amount of a pollutant that can be emitted. Companies or other groups are issued emission permits and are required to hold an equivalent number of allowances (or credits) which represent the right to emit a specific amount. The total amount of allowances and credits cannot exceed the cap, limiting total emissions to that level. Companies that need to increase their emission allowance must buy credits from those who pollute less. The transfer of allowances is referred to as a trade. In effect, the buyer is paying a charge for polluting, while the seller is being rewarded for having reduced emissions by more than was needed. Thus, in theory, those that can easily reduce emissions most cheaply will do so, achieving the pollution reduction at the lowest possible cost to society.
