I Conscientiously Object to Chicago Tribune Critic Michael Phillips

The extraordinary new film "Moonlight" exerts a tidal pull on your heartstrings, but honestly: It's better than that. The reason it's distinctive has less to do with raw emotion, or a relentless assault on your tear ducts, and more to do with the film medium's secret weapons: restraint, quiet honesty, fluid imagery and an observant, uncompromised way of imagining one outsider's world so that it becomes our own.
Since its festival premieres in Telluride and Toronto, "Moonlight" has been contending with well-meaning, largely misleading labels of "gay coming-of-age film," or "gay black coming-of-age film." True, yes: The writer-director Barry Jenkins, whose previous feature was "Medicine for Melancholy," has adapted an unproduced, semi-autobiographical play by Tarell Alvin McCraney titled "In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue." The boy in question, played on screen by three actors at different phases of one young, searching lifetime, copes with being bullied for his apparent homosexuality, which he keeps locked away from nearly everyone, including himself.

"Moonlight" — 4 stars

I did not see The Passion of the Christ and I will more than likely not see Hacksaw Ridge.  Blood fests do very little for me.  Call me old fashioned*, but I believe that horror is best served off screen. The rules work very well, especially in great theatre, or film.

Catharis, or the purging of our inner demons via the suffering of another is the most powerful element in the very human and community building activity that is drama. Catharis works best without Spectacle - special effects, gore, or pornography.

From the time of Greek tragedy on, up to the 1960's, dramaturgy kept the violence off-screen.  This not some puritanical dictum imposed by people of faith in Zeus, Aphrodite, Pan and Dionysius; it was because the human mind and soul reacts and engages theatrically, when Medea serves up her sons to her fury as a woman in civilization's prototypal feminist role.

Oedipus carves out his own eyes - off-stage and off-screen. Iphigenia leads the Chorus to the sacrificial altar of Aulis, where good old Dad will put the knife to her as an offering to the Olympians, so the Greeks can slaughter Troy, leaving Mom to plot the subsequent blood-shedding to come.

Ask any movie go-er about what was more terrifying, the Linda Blair pea souping of the Exorcist, or this

However, we are told constantly that we are evolved.  We are treated to every spectacle imaginable or Marvel comic possible.  Hetero/Homo sodomy the Norme d'amour, and heads must always explode.

Then we wring hands about people acting out.

Pornography has vanished with Satan**.

Frankly, it is dull.

Critics like Michael Phillips disagree,  They are social engineers using film to change hearts and minds.  Michael Phillips and Hollywood detest Mel Gibson, but I do not believe that Mr. Gibson loses any sleep over that fact.  I find him to be one the naturally great actors and a fine comic as well.

I saw Braveheart - meh.  Too much shouting and gore.

Michael Phillips does not like Gibson's underlying beliefs.

For all sorts of emotional and psychological reasons I'm trying to figure out as a critic and, relatedly, as a human, audiences tend to remember and even admire what traumatizes them in the name of entertainment. But even a film determined to show us the grisliest horrors of war must traumatize and — more palatably — excite in roughly equal measure, in order to make a lot of money.
I think director Mel Gibson's "Hacksaw Ridge" is going to make a lot of money.
Its old-fashioned storytelling collides with new-level gore, gory enough to make "Saving Private Ryan" look like "The Big Broadcast of 1938." The film knows exactly what it's doing, regarding faith-based audiences and war movie buffs.

Evangelical Christians, Devout Jews and Catholics, as well as arm-chair generals will love this movie.

Phillips can not for the very critically human life of him understand why audiences admire what traumatizes them in the name of entertainment.

Really?

Why only last week, Mr. Phillips wrote this:

His mother (Naomie Harris, riveting as a loving, hostile paradox of a wreck) has fallen into crack cocaine and a wobbly, sometime relationship with her son, known as "Little."Her disarmingly sweet-natured drug dealer (Mahershala Ali, stunningly good) presents Little with his first serious moral dilemma: Can I trust this man, he wonders, who has become the key role model in the fatherless boy's life? Along with the dealer's live-in girlfriend (Janelle Monae), he offers the boy some solace, a hot meal and, in a key early scene, a trip to the beach that stays with Little long afterward.
Little becomes Chiron in segment two, played by the superb young actor Ashton Sanders, and his mother is now pretty far gone. School has become hellish, and in one especially grueling sequence, Chiron's one steady childhood friend, Kevin, reluctantly joins a group of abusive bullies in a terrible beating. This comes not long after Chiron and Kevin share a clandestine sexual encounter at the beach one night.
Gosh, no trauma there.  The theme is gay sexual-wakening and Chiron is not moving to Gresham, Englewood, or Beverly. The movie seems to be a 'sensitivity recruiting poster' for the African American male.  This will go over like a showing of Birth of a Nation at Louis Farrakhan's restaurant Salaam on 79th Street.

Micahel Phillips also gave the Obama Love Story, South Side With You, Three Stars and said, " 'South side with You' is best taken as a reminder of the value of the slow relational build, of taking your time and actually talking, and actually listening, with someone new. Even if there's not a staggering political future in your shared future."

Moonlight is another such  feel good film, because it flows to the socio-politico values of Hollywood and the elites.

Mel Gibson is playing only to The Deplorables

People who honor valor, selflessness, determination and self-reliance. Can't have that.

The man at the heart of the story does not need this sort of grandiosity. It "works," but it's shameless. And the way Gibson has staged the roughest of the Okinawa footage in the second half of "Hacksaw Ridge," weirdly little of it is from Doss' perspective. Gibson may be intellectually compelled by this pacifist in the midst of hell on Earth, but dramatically he's only nominally interested in how it informed every aspect of his life. In any event, Gibson may not be the director to explore the moral horrors of any war, any conflict. He's too interested in physical punishment to make room for much else, though the recurring images of Japanese (symbols of evil, not men) and American soldiers on fire are thematically linked to the all-consuming fire imagery ingrained in the Seventh-day Adventist beliefs.
"My values are under attack," says Garfield at one point, in a line, surely, that holds personal meaning to Gibson. The director's off-screen trials, alcohol-related run-ins with the law and ragey, anti-Semitic and misogynist comments put him in Hollywood's doghouse for years. But as quickly as they piled on, Gibson's onetime attackers may well pile right back off again. If "Hacksaw Ridge" is a success, Gibson's redemption seems assured. I respectfully, conscientiously object to the way Desmond Doss has been simplified and sanctified in the movie. But Gibson has talent to go with his demons, and someday he may realize it in full.
"My values are under attack,"  every day on the pages of the Chicago Tribune.  And yet, they wonder,  'How Trump?'

*Five Rules of Dramaturgy

  • Hamartia - an error in judgment
  • Hubris - arrogance, excessive, self-pride and self-confidence
  • Anagnorisis - moment of discovery; epiphany
  • Peripeteia - change of fortune for the hero contrary to audience's expectations
  • Catharsis - purifying or figurative cleansing of the emotions, PITY AND FEAR (audience)

** Q-How much of a gateway to Satan has been opened by the wide availability of pornography on the Internet?

A- Porn is a click away. I think it has incredible power of being an addictive activity. I think it’s nothing but objectifying one or both sexes. Sometimes there’s an incredible amount of violence that is attached to it. Depending on the frequency, I do think people’s minds after a while become amalgamated into a life of darkness. And when people are involved in this—it’s usually very hidden, much like Satan, who is hidden—I think it can open doorways to the demonic.

Will International LGBTQ Activists Stonewall a Black Pope?

The Papal Conclave just got really interesting.  Peter Cardinal Turkson of Ghana is a black man.  The  Cardinal from Ghana just might become the first Black Pope since St. Gelasius (492-496).   Might.

The problem now confronting Cardinal Turkson is not in Consistory, the Klan, or with Catholics in general.  The problem leaping out of the closet is Gay Black-lash. While secular Europe, North America and OZ tend to embrace the Gay Rainbow, Asia, Central and South America and Africa, as well as Micronesia are yet, shall we say, less 'evolved' with regard to same sex marriage, same sex love and same sex anything.

Here in the United States, LGBTQ activists have been showered with millions of dollars to culturally and politically rewire the unevolved, via the news media and Hollywood, into a firm understanding that there are proud black men like MSNBC's Toure, who proudly helped abort his own child and equates Stonewall with Selma - Gay Love is a Civil Right, for Which Dr. King Was Martyred.

African Americans, Latinos, and ethnic Catholics can not and will not be allowed to be anything but Gay Complicit . . . compliant is no where near enough.

Just when the American Catholic Church has been all but completely marginalized with the endless drumming of yarns, true, or not, of universal child abuse, along comes a proud African Catholic contender for Chair of St. Peter.

Cardinal Turkson was being interrogated by CNN's Christiane Amanpour with all the skills of a Cougar Pharisee in an attempt to wedge the  Afrique religieux into the proper narrative corner.  The Cardinal did not take the bait:
The African cardinal widely tipped to be the first black pope in modern history faced a firestorm of criticism last night after he laid the blame for clerical sex abuse crises at the feet of gay priests.
Cardinal Peter Turkson, who comes from Ghana, told an American journalist that similar sex scandals would never convulse churches in Africa because the culture was inimical to homosexuality.‘African traditional systems kind of protect or have protected its population against this tendency,’ he told Christiane Amanpour of CCN. ‘Because in several communities, in several cultures in Africa homosexuality or for that matter any affair between two sexes of the same kind, are not countenanced in our society,’ he continued.‘So that cultural taboo, that tradition has been there,’ said Cardinal Turkson, 64. ‘It has served to keep it out.’ . . .

‘Cardinal Turkson’s comments show a surprisingly callous disregard for the human rights of millions of people worldwide,’ she told the Times.
Dang, that sure knocks the ruby slippers off of that one!  Hold on now, lets's here from the Civil Rights folks:
Ruth Hunt, Stonewall director of public affairs, was among those to swiftly condemn his remarks.
"Cardinal Turkson’s comments show a surprisingly callous disregard for the human rights of millions of people worldwide,’

However, She did not say that the Cardinal is wrong.

Now, this is a troublesome moment for the Gay Curia.  The Civil Rights Meme Coalition could be split!  How Can We Celebrate a Pope Of Color, Who Is Not Rainbow Happy? What Would Toure Say?

Not even a government's scientific-dogma'd NHS could help:

But one NHS psychiatrist who has researched the field of clerical sex abuse agreed with the cardinal that homosexual abuse of adolescent males rather than paedophile attacks on children characterised the problem.

‘I would say he is correct,’ said the doctor, who asked not to be named in fear of reprisals - including the loss of his job.‘Where the research has been done – for example in the United States and Australia – in the region of 80 per cent of the victims of sex abuse by priests are adolescent males rather than children.’ ( emphasis my own)
When the sex-abuse scandal took off here in America, the priests and Catholic spokespersons who pointed to this truth were hushed up.  The meme became Homosexuality Does Not a Pedophile Make! No, but a homosexual priest just might tend to find a high school aged Catholic Frank Merriwell just the ticket for long holiday week-end trip to Wisconsin.

If that priest, who wants what the heart wants, has a like-minded and inclined boss, or bosses -so much more the opportunity.

I expect that Cardinal Turkson will undergo the usual LGBTQ bastinado and perhaps an auto-de-fe, like the treatment Francis Cardinal George has been subjected to in Gay Chicago Values Illinois.
Cardinal Turkson will be ridiculed by the usual progressive puritans and be treated as the THE WOG WHO WOULD BE POPE. POPE HERMAN CAIN, I & etc.

Dan " Savage Love" Savage & Neil Steinberg will tell everyone that Copernicus was an evolved  and clouted American priest again.  MSNBC's angrogynous Chris Hayes will share insights with lightweight Eric Zorn on the Koch Brothers' involvements in Africa.  The usual breathless nonsense from the media. OMG,It is obvious SOMEONE has not seen The Book of Mormon!

The Gay Money will be on an Italian Cardinal and we will all be told to just get over it about having a Black Pope.  Ever see any Black in a Rainbow?

State Senator Bill Cunningham Voted Yes on Gay Marriage

My State Senator, William Cunningham, entered the Illinois Legislature as a replacement for Illinois State Representative Kevin Joyce who represented the voters of the our district with courage, integrity and profound commitment to fighting abortion, the American Holocaust.  Our Senator retired and William Cunningham moved into that position.

Kevin Joyce was a rarity, an elected official who actually listened to voters, but voted his convictions.  More so, Kevin Joyce was very upfront and honest about legislation that he would support, or oppose.  No one knows what position William Cunningham holds on anything. My State Senator voted with the herd.

Mr. Cunningham voted for the Religious Freedom and Gay Marriage Bill, which overwhelmingly passed the Senate -34-21-2 .
I am a Catholic.  I believe that this legislation is political theater of the absurd.  It is power politics playing at social justice.  I guess Mr. Cunningham disagrees with the Catholic Church and saw nothing wrong the civil union aftermath. William Cunningham voted for Gay Marriage.

I wrote several notes to Mr. Cunningham expressing my concerns that Gay Marriage Illinois would become a political weapon against my Church, as the Religious Freedom and Civil Unions law proved to be just that -immediately upon Gov. Pat Quinn's signing that bill into law Catholic Charities was bullied out of decades of care for families wanting to adopt children.

Mr. Cunningham, to my knowledge, has never stated his position on Gay Marriage publicly or privately.  In fact, my notes to him were merely acknowledged by his secretary without comment, or an attached position of this important legislation.

Mr.Cunningham has made a career in public service, rather he has had political jobs. I will not vote for or support Mr. Cunningham, or any of his political allies.  He has a right to his vote and I still have a right to my own.

What the Water? Abortion and the Gay Marriage of Mainline Minds

. . .  Enough now; since the sacred matter that I mean
I should be wronging longer leaving it to float
Upon this only gambolling and echoing-of-earth note
What is … the delightful dene?
Wedlock. What the water? Spousal love.
Epithalamion 1918  Gerard Manley Hopkins, SJ

Below - the Full Package Mainline Protestant - Lesbian Episcopalian priest and abortion blesser Rev. Dr. K. Hawthorne Ragsdale.
Katherine Hancock Ragsdale
“When a woman wants a child but can’t afford one because she hasn’t the education necessary for a sustainable job, or access to health care, or day care, or adequate food, it is the abysmal priorities of our nation, the lack of social supports, the absence of justice that are the tragedies; the abortion is a blessing.
“And when a woman becomes pregnant within a loving, supportive, respectful relationship; has every option open to her; decides she does not wish to bear a child; and has access to a safe, affordable abortion – there is not a tragedy in sight -- only blessing. The ability to enjoy God’s good gift of sexuality without compromising one’s education, life’s work, or ability to put to use God’s gifts and call is simply blessing.
“These are the two things I want you, please, to remember – abortion is a blessing and our work is not done. Let me hear you say it: abortion is a blessing and our work is not done. Abortion is a blessing and our work is not done. Abortion is a blessing and our work is not done.”  The Rev. Dr. Katherine Ragsdale was appointed as the sixth and newest president of Episcopal Divinity School (EDS) in Cambridge, MA, March 30 2009
INDIANAPOLIS (Reuters) - The U.S. Episcopal Church is poised to become the first major religious denomination in the United States to approve a rite for blessing gay marriages after its bishops overwhelmingly approved such a liturgy on Monday. . . .The United Church of Christ, a mainstream Protestant denomination with about a million members, has gone further so far than any other U.S. church, voting in 2005 to support same sex marriage. Chicago Tribune
Chances are that if you choose to believe that abortion is a blessing,  you will also bless same sex marriage.  You will considered yourself nuanced and fully evolved.  This is marriage of opinion, or if you insist, conviction is as mainline as it gets.

Mainline Protestant churches and denominations have long approved Darwin's survival of the fittest. The Mainline Protestant churches ( United Church of Christ, United Methodist, Evangelical Lutheran, and Episcopal as well as Quakers and the various Moravian churches) get their name form the old Philadelphia suburb along the Pennsylvania Mainline Railroad, noted for its affluence.  The more affluent one might be the more one might associate with Mainline Protestantism*. With affluence comes educational opportunity and a post-secondary degree more than possible. Mainline Protestantism takes a nuanced view of scripture known as High Criticism - this holds that the Bible should only be regarded as a neat read - "Mainline denominations generally teach that the Bible is God's Word in function, but that it must be interpreted both through the lens of the cultures in which it was originally written, and examined using God-given reason. Mainline Christian groups are often more accepting of other beliefs and faiths." ( emphasis my own).

If God's Word is regarded in function, no wonder Bill Moyers is the  Mainliner's Pope.  God never wrote speeches for LBJ insisting more kids get sent to Vietnam, after all.  Likewise, God never should the 'good sense' to turn on LBJ when things got uncomfortable.  The heart wants what the heart wants.

America's secularism is rooted in Mainline Protestantism.  Margaret Sanger's genocide of millions has had the full communion and hearty support of Mainline Protestantism.  Gay marriage is merely an adjunct of abortion.

The Episcopal Church in America announced its full and unflagging support for the marriage of Man and Man, or Woman and Woman.  The Episcopal Church has fully evolved and joined abortion and gay marriage in its rituals, doctrines and teachings. Killing an unborn child is blessing.   Wedlock without water - there will be no offspring in a same sex marriage no matter how many times the Rev. Doctor Ragsdale intones over the couple.

An Episcopal pre-school will be little more than a orphanage.

  • 21% Reported $30,000-$49,999 per year.
  • 18% Reported $50,000-$74,999 per year.
  • 15% Reported $75,000-$99,999 per year.
  • 21% Reported an income of $100,000 per year or more, compared to only 13 percent of evangelicals.[31]

Gay President Demands Style Power/Power Style

“You can be stylish and powerful, too. That's Michelle’s advice.” President Barack Obama, 1st Abortion & Gay President

If Gay Catholic Conservative Newsweek writer Andrew Sullivan's father were gay, he might look like President Obama, but Sullivan Père  is not and does not. I shouldn't think not.

As powerful and stylish and stylishly powerful as President Obama might be, he can not alter the fact that Pops Sullivan and Mrs. Sullivan went halves on a baby named Andrew who was natured or nurtured to be homosexual in his sexual preferences and proclivities. Style means much and power means more to Andrew Sullivan and even hetero-Obama cheerleaders like David " Sharp Britches" Brooks and the Obama White House.

The power of style is the style power in Washington D.C. and Beyond the Beltway and on the Run Way! Hope and Change is Style Power and Power Style. Style means fashion, all the rage, sine qua non, pouty strutting shoulder heaves - Get Out My Way! That is Power baby!
Power differs wildly from authority ( potens v. auctoritas) - Power ( potens) means the ability to affect behavior with or without any resistance - Mandate Style! Authority ( auctoritas) is "often used for power perceived as legitimate by the social structure - Substance - the thing absent from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

However, even Style conscious Power Puppies like David Brooks seem even more impotent than the President:

David Brooks, a New York Times columnist who is quite taken with Obama, writes in today’s paper that while Americans think Obama is doing a bad job on the economy and that the country is off track, Obama stands a good chance of being re-elected because of his demeanor: an “ESPN” brand of post-modern machismo cool.
When Obama supporters like Brooks make argument like these, they are engaged in willful self-deception.
There has been nothing very cool about the past 7 weeks for Obama. The president has twisted himself into a policy and rhetorical pretzel to win the support and money he needs from the members of the Democratic coalition.

The 2008 Coalition of the Willing seems to be falling apart.  Though he commands The View, President Obama can not see past his celestial pointed snout. Planned Parenthood, SEIU, Gay America and MSNBC will continue their solid investment in Style Power, but I think President Power Style has jumped the catfish (pl.N.)

President and Channel Cats of The View

President Obama has Star Power, Style Power, but lacks every bit Authority needed in a President.  The long daydream is yawning awake and the Childe Barry of Our Dreams appears more as a shabby, petulant narcissistic poser than he perhaps actually might be - not far amiss though.

President Obama and America really need to have Barack Obama getting busy with his Presidential Library as quick as the Constitution allows.

Cardinal George, Gay Marriage, The Tribune and Critics

"Here's Your Hat. What's Your Hurry?"

Cardinal George was ambushed by Mike Flannery and Dane Placko on Fox Chicago's WFLD newscast just before Christmas. Since then gay activists have howled like King Lear.

The Chicago Tribune has a long history of anti-Catholic bias and holds firm*.

Last week the editorial board of the Tribune termed Cardinal George's analogy that some gay activists are like the KKK bizarre.

What is bizarre is the fact that those activities are very much like the Ku Klux Klan of the early decades of the last century.

Early this morning, I attempted to comment on this letter published in the Chicago Tribune under the heading Cardinal George's Poor Leadership -

4:03 p.m. CST, December 30, 2011
Ads by Google
While Cardinal Francis George is entitled to his opinion, opponents of his nasty rhetoric are entitled to respond, especially the very people he compares to the KKK.

To compare homosexuals (who have themselves been targets of the KKK) to that hate group is reprehensible. Such language coming from a man who purports to be the spiritual shepherd of his church is particularly troubling. For George to be insensitive to the pain inflicted by his comparison reveals much about his heart and mind.

The Catholic Church George leads is not a casual bystander in the struggle of gays and lesbians to achieve the same rights, protections and dignities extended to heterosexuals. Rather, George has mounted a grand campaign to thwart the extension of civil rights to gays and lesbians. He can't claim to be an innocent victim in a struggle in which he leads a charge to keep gays and lesbians marginalized in society.

What he says and does in the church is his business, but when he mounts a soapbox in the public square, he's fair game for criticism. George is a poor example of a spiritual leader.

-- Todd Arkenberg, Arlington Heights

No, Mr. Arkenberg, Cardinal George is a good example of a spiritual leader. Cardinal George is standing for principle over coercion ( financial, political and now thanks to the Illinois Religious liberty and Civil Union Law, legal).

Leadership often gets the leader isolated, imprisoned and executed.

My comments were deleted, blocked, scratched, aborted, or euthanized, by the Chicago Tribune. Several times.

Here is what I wished to post:

Todd Arkenberg, Arlington Heights is passionate in his defense of Gay Activists and their attempts to cloud sexual preference and desire as a basic Civil Right. More so, his attempt to paint Cardinal George as a some kind of bigot is nonsense.

The faux outrage following Mike Flannery and Dana Placko's gottcha moment was orchestrated and pre-packaged. The meme "unfortunate comments" were rolled out by Illinois Greg Harris and Sara Feigenholtz on cue and the petition drive by Truth Will Out funded by Henry Van Ameringen and George Soros's Change.org set the wheels in motion.

The Catholic Church will not allow adultery by heterosexuals, homosexuals, onanists, or any other unique expression of desire be considered anything but a sin. Catholics who commit adultery must be reconciled with the Church through the Sacrament of Penance.

That will not change, no matter what the human heart believes desirable.

Cardinal George's comments equating the activism of some homosexuals to the KKK of the early decades of the last century were spot on - the KKK was mainstream and enjoyed the support of Planned Parenthood's Margaret Sanger. Like Gay Activism today the KKK also enjoyed the support of mainstream Christian Churches and fully 2/3's of all Klan lecturers were Protestant ministers.

Thank God** for a free exchange of ideas in a free American Press.

*
By late 1853, it was frequently running xenophobic editorials that criticized foreigners and Roman Catholics.[7] About this time it also became a strong proponent of temperance.[8] However nativist its editorials may have been, it was not until February 10, 1855 that the Tribune formally affiliated itself with the nativist American or Know Nothing party, whose candidate Levi Boone was elected Mayor of Chicago the following month.[9]

By about 1854, part-owner Capt. J. D. Webster, later General Webster and chief of staff at the Battle of Shiloh, and Dr. Charles H. Ray of Galena, Illinois through Horace Greeley convinced Joseph Medill of Cleveland's Leader to become managing editor. Ray became editor-in-chief, Medill became the managing editor, and Alfred Cowles, Sr., brother of Edwin Cowles, initially was the bookkeeper. Each purchased one third of the Tribune.[10][11] Under their leadership the Tribune distanced itself from the Know Nothings and became the main Chicago organ of the Republican Party.[12] However, the paper continued to print anti-Catholic and anti-Irish editorials.

Henry Van Not the Klan - Gay Networks War on Chicago's Cardinal George

Chris Pennock and event sponsors David Hollander and Henry van Ameringen at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Leadership Awards

Meet Henry Van Ameringen - Henry is helping fund the petition drive against Chicago's Cardinal George.

Cardinal George is now the target of a petition signed by 1,000 persons from around the country, as radical Gay activists mobilize their hearts, hands and voices in a national shriek.

With multi purpose Soros funded push by Change.Org - Gay Activists are doing their best to make Catholics uncomfortable. We're Okay. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

However, such actions and the very cooperative nature of a not very bright American media can confuse some people . . . who happen to be very confused from the get-go.

The fact is that the Roman Catholic Church sponsors more Gay friendly services than any LGBTQ Advocacy meet-up and shout center. Full Medical HIV-AIDS services, psychological services and counselling are available because the Catholic Church has been in the fore-front for Gays, just as it has been for children, battered women, convicts, the elderly, the disabled, the challenged and most of all the unborn.

Cardinal George spoke to two very limited context occupants, Mike Flannery and Dane Placko of Chicago Fox WFLD affiliate in Chicago. Mike Flannery is best known for his obsequious shadowing of President Obama and Dane Placko is noted for . . .having a job at Fox 32.

Cardinal George made the point that some Gay Activist employ rhetoric used by the KKK in the 1920's - it was virulently anti-Catholic. The Catholic Church is opposed to Gay Marriage and LGBTQ activists are anti-Catholic, including some Rainbow Sash members. Dane Placko asked Cardinal George, "What Rhetoric?"

Here is some found in the comments of the Chicago Tribune -

The Catholic Church is just as much a hate group as the Klan is, wasting tens of millions of dollars trying to suppress, oppress, demean, degrade, and deny all LGBT citizens of all faiths.
Jesus would never have collected or spent Catholic riches this way; instead, He would have provided food, clothing, shelter, health care, and education to those who need it most.
"Demonstrating in the streets" is a time-honored American principle, and nothing that any religious leader has any right to prohibit, prevent, or proscribe.
Chicago Archbishop Cardinal Francis George, like most of his colleagues, is at least 60 years out of date. The "Gay Liberation" he fears began in the 1960s and finished in the 1970s. It was succeeded by gay rights in the 1980s, civil rights in the 1990s, and human rights in the 2000s. Cardinal George thinks it’s still the 1950s.
The dirty little secret feared by the cardinal and his cronies is that if gays ever get liberated, then most Catholic priests will get liberated, too. And once they are, those priests will have no reason to remain enslaved to a religion which preaches that they’re evil, when they can just re-dedicate their lives to God and mankind through most other religions.
Under Cardinal George, the Roman Catholic Church is just a holy holdout for Klansmen wearing fancier robes, with more jewelry, and following the same superstitions.

The GLBT Communty is the least of the worries that the church needs to be worring about. Or at least stop thinking with a Mid Evil Century thinking.

Interesting that it is Cardinal George who actually shares so many of the bigoted views of the Klan, yet he now tries to deflect attention from the child rape by Catholic clergy with this dishonest attack. Interesting that this Cardinal's hateful comparison and paranoia comes just when the Dutch Catholic Church has acknowledged that children in its care are twice as likely to be raped by clergy than they would be outside of these Catholic child-abuse mills. I think he forgets that it is not he who decides who may march in parades and what Americans may protest. I am disappointed, and wonder whether some medical issue has hampered this man's mental faculties. Whether his motivation is bigotry or inability to reason, he should apologize to gays whom he has slandered, and then he must resign in disgrace.

Placko - listen up! Remember Terry Cosgrove last November -rhetoric My Man.

Flannery -Nice set up.

Immediately after the Fox broadcast - Rich Miller of Capital Fax Blog who takes coin from Democratic Party lobbyists and operatives - largely - as well as PACs and offers news tid-bits - went flat out for the Democratic voices for Rep. Harris, Gov. Quinn and Terry Cosgrove. Rep. Sara Feigenholz mimed the meme "unfortunate" over the Cardinal's remarks

Well, Greg and Sara, Fortune Favors the Bold. we shall see.

Openly gay State Rep. Greg Harris (D-Chicago), whose district includes the Gay Pride parade route, criticized the Cardinal’s “unfortunate choice of words.” Harris predicted “it probably will provoke other unfortunate words ” from some gay activists.
State Rep. Sara Feigenholtz (D-Chicago) also weighed in on the statement, telling ChicagoPride.com, "The Cardinal's unfortunate choice of words in comparing the LGBT community to the Klu Klux Klan is offensive. ... I would hope an apology be forthcoming."

Gay activists need the Catholic Church neutralized in order to move from Civil Unions to Homosexual Marraige.

Tracy Baim's Cry for Gay Self Esteem and Why I Ain't Really Hearing It

I have known many great people who happened to be homosexuals, in much the same manner as I happen to be attracted and committed to the opposite sex; love is precious and private. They were and continue to be wonderful and caring people with rich and fulfilling lives and they have self-esteem in warehouse proportions.

Then they are Gay Activists, who are very much like their heterosexual counterparts - pains in the collective ass.

Activists are about as happy as a mob of Islamist fundamentalist at a Danish Cartoon Festival.

Gay or Straight, Activists go from zero to 10 on the loud and obnoxious and are constantly in crisis or attack mode - about or against exactly what God only knows.

This morning I visually thumbed through the electronic pages of the always angry Huffington Post - tweedy Northwestern Prof. Unemployed Fagin, Dave Protess, is railing about Injustice while he awaits his next subpoena; the man is screwing one and all and Tracy Baim offers a plea for historical Gay Self-Esteem.

To reboot my passion for LGBT issues and people, I launched the Chicago Gay History Project, interviewing some 200 people, mostly on video, and online now. As a result of that, I also helped advise WTTW TV on their Out & Proud in Chicago film project, and they recommended me for the companion book, published by Surrey Books in 2008, Out and Proud in Chicago: An Overview of the City's Gay Community. I also started to scan hundreds of thousands of editorial and photo files from the pre-digital era, to eventually post those online, too.

While keeping my full-time gig as publisher of Windy City Times, I realized there are different and important ways to make sure our LGBT legacy is not lost. The website is one way, and books (print and e-books) are another. So I have worked on three other books: Obama and the Gays: A Political Marriage, Leatherman: The Legend of Chuck Renslow, and Jim Flint: The Boy From Peoria.

The last two, co-written with Owen Keehnen, came out this year. They document the lives of two very important gay Chicagoans. Both are controversial -- but who isn't after a few decades of activism? Their stories were not well documented until these books, and there are hundreds of other Chicago LGBTs worthy of such documentation.

Fair enough. Self-esteem comes from books about a boy from Peoria who put on shows for a very limited audience? Noel Coward I understand, but Mr. Flint? A leather bar owner? Chaps and Whips and Brando Jackets might not be to everyone's taste, but . . .I don't honestly get it.

I don't get the definition of self-esteem in this, Ms. Baim's, context. My self-esteem objects to any and all cataloging of my sexual inclinations, assignations, or self-touting manifestations of worth. Self-esteem, as far as I know, refuses public proclamation.

Real Combat Veterans never talk about their war experiences.

True philanthropists are tough to find - this I know, as a professional fund-raiser - they are deep in the weeds.

Saints don't know they are.

Self-esteem requires no fanfare. Role-playing folks are pretty sad creatures. A real magician never really needs to wear a cape and most of the really great chefs rarely wear their big white hats out to a movie.

If you want to see Tracy Baim's conception of self esteem, go to any Starbucks, get a coffee and grab a chair. The show is a riot.

Go to a trendy tavern in mid-afternoon and meet a score of unpublished poets, playwrights and novelists - no end of that measure of self-esteem. Like Notre Dame Alums, faux writers will let you know.

Watch a reality TV show - self esteem aplenty.

I met my late wife and mother of my three children, while bartending for a gentleman who happened to be as Gay as Christmas, as well as a canny businessman. For that gentleman, I owe a magnifiucent and precious hunk of my life. He did not care a jot that I was a breeder, nor I that my Vietnam Bronze Star awarded veteran bosss, who never ever talked about 'Nam, though his breeder brother and nephews did aplenty, was in love with a man.

No on, and that means NO one, cares a whit about my sexual lifestyle, which is about as wild as George Gobel reruns; likewise, only sad and needy people need to raise their self-esteem via some artifical means - they need to wear their medals and halos in public. I know that being happy in your skin is tough work for breeder and gay alike. We are all sinners, God help us.

Barney Frank Tosses Hissy Fit -$1 Senior Ferry Fare to Fire Island!

Wind-Sail John Kerry docks his $7 Million yacht out of tax range.

Human Puffer Fish Congressman Barney Frank, who gave away America to Mortgage Pirates, thows a Full Blown Hissy Fit, because he wants the senior fare to Fire Island. What pipe is Barney smoking?

Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank caused a scene when he demanded a $1 senior discount on his ferry fare to Fire Island's popular gay haunt, The Pines, last Friday. Frank was turned down by ticket clerks at the dock in Sayville because he didn't have the required Suffolk County Senior Citizens ID. A witness reports, "Frank made such a drama over the senior rate that I contemplated offering him the dollar to cool down the situation." Frank made news last year when he was spotted looking uncomfortable around a bevy of topless, well-built men at the Pines Annual Ascension Beach Party. Frank's spokesperson confirmed to Page Six that his partner, James Ready, asked the ticket office for a regular ticket for himself and a senior ticket for Frank, "but was turned down because Frank didn't have a resident ID."

I am still a Democrat because . . .? I'll get back to you.

Okay, Kagan Ain't Gay - Is That a Problem for Who?

My Grandma Donahue could not imagine why Liberace, Rock Hudson and Charles Nelson Reilly never seemed to have a blond on the arm. "They're good-looking gents with wads of spending loot; what's the matter with some girls?"

Grandma, they bat from the other side of the plate, they like Tyrone Power as much as you do; . . . more.

The fact remains that Liberace, Rock Hudson and Charles Nelson Reilly were good-looking gents with wads of spending loot and heaps of talent. They never seemed to want for work, despite LGBT Victim hood doctrine that demands that they wore pink stars on their clothing at all times and slept on straw in between beatings.

Grandma Donahue and Grandpa Donahue were dragged up in the 'Ville - Canaryville, which is not exactly Boystown, but many boys spent their youths between Wentworth/Halsted; 39th & 47th Streets.

Elena Kagan is President Obama's choice for the Supreme Court seat vacated by Justice John Paul Stevens. The White House and everyone that they can find are jumping on the Oprah Coach - "She's Not Gay!!!!" Politico which gets fed directly everything coming out of the White House has a full-court Press denial about Elena Kagan's mysterious inclinations

Walzer, a former aide to Senator Joe Lieberman and a lawyer in Bill Clinton’s Department of Health and Human Services, now lives on Long Island, N.Y., and runs a non-profit that helps low-income parents prepare young children for school.

At the time, though, the two lived the life of single, straight young women, with a bit of a Harvard Law twist.

Walzer recalled “discussion about who she might be interested in – the usual girl talk stuff-- talk about how to get his attention.”

This was “less along the lines of how to wear your hair,” Walzer said, than how to avoid intimidating men with an intellect and confidence that weren’t always seen as attractive traits

Okay, so what? Who asked? Remember how the tightly closeted Rosie O'Donnell used to swoon at the mention Tom Cruise? Jesus, you could have knocked nearly every I.Q. above room temperature over with a sledge hammer blow between the lamps, when Ellen DeGeneris, Rosie O'Donnell and Melissa Etheridge announced that they like Babes too!

Watson, the game's afoot!

I could care less. Can Elena Kagan do the job? Tom Tunney, is openly gay and is one of the few Chicago Alderman who is not a hair-trigger for bladder spilling laughter. Tom Tunney is gay and happens to be a great public servant. Congressman Barney Frank is openly gay and is a sputtering arrogant train wreck.

Get to the issues. Define the Constitution, Ms. Kagan. Give the right answers and become Justice Kagan.

Okay, you ain't gay.

Judy Garland Died for My Sins.

Fabulous!Let me tell you about my sexual exploits . . . why only . . .you Yawn?

10% of Americans are Gay. Really.

Okay, how about some Gay statistics?

10-40 % of the trees that fall in the forest are heard and they will be heard. Really.

Gay is good and gay can be great; but Gay ain't that big. Well it is if you are Gay and Gay Progressive Friendly. Gay is the new Green.

General Sheehan has been made the 21st Century Alfred Dreyfus by the sneaky little turd Senator Carl Levin in a recent Senate Armed Services Committee hearing about Gays in the Military with regard to Don't Ask; Don't Tell. The Dutch Pink Army ( Gay Soldiers Group) threatened to sue Retired General Sheehan - he retracted a statement refering to a conversation that he had with a Dutch officer in Bosnia, after his Dutch counterpart got amnesia.

I am neither a Veteran, nor a homosexual, but neither is Senator Carl Levin - Senator Levin is a sneaky little turd. Click my post title for some common sense on the General Sheehan affair.

Now that Obama Care passed everything is Gay - Priest scandals in the Catholic Church begin and end with the Gay Mafia or the Lavender Clerics - Don't ask;Don't tell worked real well in the institutional Catholic Church - did it not? Ironically, the very same people who would tear Pope Benedict XVI apart would free Roman Polanski. SNAP should be renamed PAPAL- People Abused by Priests and Artificed by Lawyers. The Folks who boil up the media about the Catholic Church never point their fingers at the Lavender Priesthood, as Tom Roeser so well terms the clerical daisy-chain.Mr. Roeser points out that -

First: The SNAP people as social and political liberals cannot bring themselves to admit that homosexuality which has run rife, producing the Lavender Priesthood, is the overwhelming cause of the scandal. They have adopted the same cultural bias of today’s liberals and media about homosexuality…that it is not a sinful choice or a weakness and definitely not an abuse of the sexual faculty…but misled by certain liberal pathologies they believe that it is neither reversible but merely a normal variation, like being left-handed.
In fact if SNAP had used its findings to blast the Lavender Priesthood, the chances are great that the media would be loath to run the stories.
Most SNAP authorities declare that if in fact homosexuality is the cause, the so-called “repression” factor is responsible: victims are those too ashamed of the sin that “dare not tell its name.” Many feel that matters would be improved if only the Church would relent in its insistence of the male only priesthood. Others have told me that celibacy should be relaxed (not understanding that the celibate priesthood is not covered by inflexible
BTW- save all the outrage about pedophiles in the priesthood not being Gay - if you are a man doing a boy you are a homosexual(Gay) pedophile; if you are a man doing a girl, you are a heterosexual pedophile.

An American Hero is being pilloried as the Alfred Dreyfus to Gay Militancy Media.

If Gay's suffer, . . .hell, sorry for your troubles; get in line.

If the tail wags the dog then the whole dog needs to shake. One can not have a touch of cancer - a girl is never a little bit pregnant, unless she belongs to Planned Parenthood.

Here's the deal, neighbors (Gay/Breeder/Celibate/Disinterested). If you must proclaim your presence on this our earth and God's creation, entirely by the means by which you sexually find gratification . . .no one is asking and please do not tell.

The Kinsey study of 1948, which homosexuals often cite to say that 10% of the population is homosexual, actually says that only 4% of the population is EXCLUSIVELY homosexual. This study involved a disproportionate number of people who had been in jail for sex crimes (hardly a random sample of the population). Kinsey also did perverse studies involving young boys and pedophiles. Information on Kinsey.
Current research shows that the true percentage of homosexuals is in the 1-2% range (15,23,26,28). Consider how small this number is when compared to most of the numbers above.

Some studies conducted in response to the AIDS epidemic reported that 3% of males are or should preferential homosexuals and another 4% are closeted homosexuals.

Well that last demographic got a boost the other day from Joto Fortunado Ricky Martin.
