Media Gives Shelter, Aid and Comfort to Slum Lord Valerie Jarrett

Former longtime Chicago Tribune editor Mark Jacob remarked on Twitter: "One of the weirdest things about this Roseanne fiasco is that she went after Valerie Jarrett, who was probably the least controversial big shot in the Obama administration, a consummate technocrat, comfortable in the background, someone who tried to stay above the fray."  Grove Parc is one of the outstanding examples of this problem. It sits on the border of Obama's district. It is 504 apartments of subsidized housing, fully renovated in the early 1990s, that have fallen into such disrepair that the plan now is to demolish them and start all over again. It was built by a nonprofit led by a number of Obama's supporters. It was managed during the period of its greatest decline by a company called The Habitat Company, which is led by Valerie Jarrett, who is the senior advisor to Obama's presidential campaign, and it is, as I said, in his district, so it struck us as sort of emblematic of the issue that we wanted to write about. The woman who acted as the White House shadow governement for eight years and engineered the disasterous Iranian payoff of pallets of billions of dollars continues the grift and oozes nonsense on CNN, MSNBC and in the pages of Chicago's two daily propaganda rags.

I never saw the new Roseanne Show.   Hardly recall her old show.

I say the Memorare about twenty-five to thirty times a day  - more when I am feeling particularly oafish, vain, self-pitying and ungrateful. 

This week I was disappointed but not surprised to learn that Ireland voted over-whelmingly to promote and pay for the slaughter of unborn children.   Ireland has wanted to become England ever since Eamon De Valera* fell out of fashion and historical memory.   The Catholic De Valera became less culturally attractive than did the secular Marxist pro- terrorist personalities who dominated the Republican zeitgeist in Ireland from the 1970's to the Repeal of the 8th Amendment to the Irish Constitution that protected human life from conception to expiration.  

55% of Ireland's population voted for abortion.  Only County Donegal shouted for 'No' to abortion and repeal of the 8th Amendment. 

Yes voters celebrated the birth of Modern Secular Ireland - a highly educated and intrinsically stupid nation of BBC-Euro go-alongs and alcagüetes. In short,  Gypo Nolan was a more steadfast stalwart than RTE viewers, or readers of the Irish Times. The lives of unborn children were to 'Shove Wesht' from Cork and Kerry and Wexford to Mayo. 

This horror comes as no surprise, anymore than one watching the Triumph of the Will in 1935 could see that big things were happening in Germany.   Ireland is no longer your grandfather's Emerald Isle - its will has triumphed over God's will. 

In deserts of Egypt, Syria and Gaza around 219 AD, very educated and cultured people left the sophisticated and evolved world of the Roman Empire for caves, trees and pillars out where Christ lost His Sandals and found the means to overcome the very psychological worms that eat at our souls to this day.

They identified eight non-psychological sicknesses of a spiritual origin, classified by the monk Evagrius as: greed of any sort, a pathological relationship to sex, a pathological relationship to money, sadness, aggressiveness, acedia (an illness of the soul expressed by listlessness, boredom, laziness – a precursor to slothfulness) vanity, and pride. These eight generic diseases have a pathological source: narcissism, which the Fathers called   philautia, excessive self-love. . . .

Today cognitive sciences are in agreement with the diagnosis established by the Desert Fathers concerning the illnesses of the soul, which are growing rapidly today, along with the therapies which they had already recommended nearly 2000 years ago. It is recognized that today we are all suffering from countless and continuous demands no our attention, and that this trend disturbs our interiority. Xerri lists a variety of areas in which we are over-stimulated, thanks especially to digital media: food, material goods, sex, leisure, self-image, superficiality, criticism…

No one is asking anyone to sit on the Balbo obelisk at Soldier Field, or take up space under the Jane Byrne Interchange and begin a life contemplative, but we can begin to emulate the Greek Fathers of the Desert and guard our hearts.

Guarding the heart, in Greek nepsis (vigilance), is being attentive to everything that happens in our heart. It is a spiritual method which aims to free man of bad or passionate thoughts. It invites us to observe the thoughts which penetrate our soul, and to discern between the good and the bad. Evagrius said: “Take care of yourself, be the gatekeeper to your heart and don’t let any thought enter without questioning it.” As Xerri points out: “The elders noticed that holy thoughts led to a peaceful state, the others to a troubled state.”
The indispensable means of guarding the heart is paying close attention to thoughts and discerning between those which are good and healing, and those which are a source of distraction or obsession. The aim is to gain freedom, and to reach indifference, the ability to not be dominated by our thoughts.

Ireland's collective imagination was Greek Christian before it was Roman Catholic.  The Synod of Whitby put an end to Hellanized Celtic Church in favor of the episcopal over-lordship, still extant in that unhappy nation.  The secular bishops of the BBC and the state religion of Great Britain   has exorcised truth along with 8th Amendment.

These day, repentance is only a three syllable word.   I know I am a sinful louse and work on it daily.

The Old Ranger - A Catholic High School Teacher on the Open Driving Range

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?  Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Matthew 6: 26-7

My job for the last month has been as a ranger - an Evergreen Park Recreation Driving Ranger.

This work for the Village of Evergreen Park is a huge help to me, as I have been out of work since January 26th.

During my search for work, my high school and Loyola University classmate, Evergreen Park Mayor James Sexton offered me this posting, God Bless him!

He made me a Driving Ranger at the glorious 50 Acre Park located at 2701 West 91st in the western half of the legendary Evergreen Park Country Club.   This south side jewel of a park includes

• One of the best  disc golf courses in Illinois
• A state of the park dog playground
• Walking paths over a pond with a fountain
• A beautifful concert gazebo
• A mini - farm and stable exhibit with three horses and squad of goats
• A golf putting green and driving range

Mayor James Sexton is the real deal -   a Democrat with the brains to be honest, faithful and not beholden to big money, or trends.  Evergreen Park sits next to Chicago, but is not a homicide blood sponge. 

The media beefs about traffic stops on 95th street ( a vast commercial stretch of road with more shopping malls than a John Hughes movies), but never asks why, "Chicago has more killings, violence, robberies and burglaries" than the village that is wedged on three sides within its own borders. Evergreen Park is not Chiraq, let alone Chicago.

• Evergreen Park pensions are fully loaded. 
• Evergreen Park Police and Fire Departments have high morale. 
• Evergreen Park schools are successful and peaceful
• Evergreen Park cares for its residents
• Evergreen Park love its Mayor

I became a Ranger on April 16th and proud to say so.

My obligations are these: 

In The AM shift 6/7AM - 3 PM:

Start, drive and attach the Kubota vehicle to a a ball rake that resembles a farm disc-ing tractor attachment at the front the of vehicle.  The rake is left far out on the range and requires a great deal ingenuity and luck to attach. That is most difficult task of the day - attaching the rake.

Then I spend two hours collecting range balls -in and out of the Kubota.  Using a handy device that pops balls into a canvas bag.   I wear a stout pair of Wellingtons, as the ground is always swampy due to our May Monsoons and the regulated sprinklers.  My first AM shift, I thought that I was in the movie The Birds.  I was being strafed by flights of birds the minute I shifted the Kubota into gear. 

  The disc-rake agitates the grass  sending millions of tiny winged insects out  of their morning ground-lairs and into the beaks of squadrons of Blue Jays, Finches and Robins. Jesus, I am St. Francis!  Well, not so much to the bugs. 

The range balls are disc-ed into four baskets on the rake and when full I transfer the balls to 5 gallon buckets with holes punched in the buttons to allow water to drain.  I carry fifteen buckets in the bed of the Kubota. 

Once all buckets are full, I detach the rake and head for the barn and begin washing the balls.   This is an easy task thanks to Wittek 50 G Superbowl washer.  I put in a scoop of Borax ( the product sold by the real Old Ranger on Death Valley Days) and fill the tanks with water. I turn on the agitators and cleaning wheels and in fifteen minutes thousands of balls are as clean as a Lithuanian sidewalk. 

I then take the fifteen buckets of cleaned balls and re-load the token operated ball machine. 

Now, I set up the range 

• Old Glory is unfurled and placed
• Umbrellas are placed at the tables
• Yellow flags go in the holes of putting green
• Heavy Green Ball basket stand placed near the edge of the parking lot
• Roadside signs are adjusted to open

At this point, I return to the office and count the bank drawer, count 59 tokens, sign the work shift's work sheet, open the windows and serve the public.

Then I restock water, beer/wine and pop; put out the candy and Slim Jim displays and get the hot dog steamer ready. 

On the PM shift, I begin where the AM shift ends.   I sell tokens and comestibles -eats and drinks. Clean counters and tables.  The only difference is closing out.  

We sell small baskets of balls (45) for $ 5.00 and large (90) for $10.  

This is a great little job and very well-suited to a Catholic high school teacher, who is finished with Catholic high schools.

I did not know what I would do, other than work again.

But, God and Jimmy Sexton taught this Old Ranger a lesson that he had forgotten.  The lesson I witnessed on the Kubota and in Matthew's gospel - “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?  Look at the birds of the air . . ."    Look outside the cab of the old Kubota!

Will the Skilled Trades Once Again Go 'All-In" for Rahm Emanuel ?

How 'Proudly Union' are the skilled trades leaders, the rank and file and their families about the re-election of Mayor Rahm Emanuel 2019?

I will be bet one out of the above three are wildly happy to re-endorse the Nine Digit Midget for Mayor.  The other two demographics might be problematic and look to Paul Vallas, Garry McCarthy, Willie Wilson, Bridget Gainer, or Ja'Mal Green.

Rahm's O'Hare Expansion means millions of dollars to electricians, operating enginers ( indoors and out), pipe-fitters, plumbers, carpenters, tile setters and laborers.  Much prevailing wages are on the table.

In any case, Rahm seems poised to be a Turd-Term Mayor and once again wear the Corona Triumphalis. 

The mad Roman emperor Caligula declared war on Poseidon, the God of water, and marched his legions to the sea and told his troops to attack the waves.  Rahm did the very same thing. 

The Chicagoland Pipe Trades were out early and often for Rahm Emanuel in his last go-around.  Your Water Bill reflects, the debt paid promptly by Rahm upon his re-election. 

The Public Sector Unions ( SEIU 'nuff said) were with Chuy Garcia.  They will grudgingly back Rahm this time. 

The Pipe Trades were paid handsomely upon Rahm's re-election, Chicago tax-payers not so much.

Rahm, like JB Pritzker, will count on voter apathy and the lock-step support of the Black Ministers and Cardinal Cupich.

But Skilled and Industrial Labor is the wild card for Rahm Emanuel's continued oligarchy.

On last week's episode of Silicon Valley, Mike Judge's send up of America's tech-culture on HBO, the uber-dweeb CEO of Pied Piper outs a fellow CEO who is openly gay, as a committed Christian - monogamous and church-going.  All sundry at a strategy meeting are shocked and both the outer and the outed stand to be shunned by the devout secularist majority.

  

This is satire worthy of Jonathan Swift -Swift is the guy who argued for the eating of Papist babies in the 17th century.

Yes, but later Morrow seems stung by the barbs and tries to salve those broad wounds with this in defence of Valley's ultramontane secularism

While the Valley has plenty of militant atheists, secular humanists and plain old nonbelievers, it doesn’t necessarily follow that Christians are oppressed. I’d certainly be interested to know what former Apple evangelist Guy Kawasaki, VMWare CEO Pat Gelsinger and Electronics Arts co-founder Dave Evans, all prominent Christians, think of the matter.

Uh, huh. and professional law enforcement officers are asked to serve on Rahm Emanuel's police watch-dog inquisitions - COPRA et al. - as opposed to Peoples Gas activists. 

Christians are not approved in our Brave New World of cable, tech, politico-activism and that fact is causing  the great divide in the state of the civil union, once called the land of the free and home of the brave.

The Sun Times in the 19th Ward? Don't Buy It

The Sun Times has a perfect right to smear a whole neighborhood and I defend its right to do so. 

In the same way, the people who live in Beverly, Morgan Park and Mount Greenwood have a perfect right to ask that the Sun Times no longer be made made available for purchase.

My neighbors do not deserve to be regularly treated to this race-baiting editorial nonsense:

Like a match set to dry tinder, the slur set in motion a chaotic, Wild West-style melee on a sunny Saturday in November. Punches being thrown, bystanders forced to hide under restaurant tables, guns drawn and taunts called out?
That’s a scene that belongs in 19th Century Dodge City, not 21st Century Chicago.

This nonsense followed a fatuous cut-and paste job on Mount Greenwood by Frank Main and Sam Charles as an hors d'oeuvre to the above cited Sunday editorial.  People going to services at Mount Greenwood Community, Mount Greenwood Lutheran,St. Christiana, St. John Fisher, Queen of Martyr churches can pray for strength and a spirit of forgiveness.

After church and over breakfast maybe people can have a neighborly conversation about asking businesses in this neighborhood to stop carrying the Sun Times.

The Sun Times always wants to have a "conversation."


It goes like this , people who live in Mount Greenwood are hateful racists and  should accept any and all behavior - take it and like it and shut up about it. 

Fair enough. Well, in that spirit, sell your papers any where but here.

I pray that gas stations, franchisee-owned convenience stores located in and around the 19th Ward ask that Sun Times stop making delivery, because residents no longer want to read malignant nonsense from the Editors, Neil Steinberg, Mark Brown, Mary Mitchell, Jesse Jackson, Fran Spielman, Michael Sneed and the Watchdogs.

The people of my neighborhood will never, ever get a fair shake from the owners of Sun Times ( ChicagoReader et al) and they never have to this date.  The Chicago Reader called Mount Greenwood the worst neighborhood in Chicago - 'The Upside Down.'

I stopped buying the Sun Times years ago.

Jesus Rolled Back the Stone, but Anti-Semitism Reels Freely

My saviour rolled back a huge rock that denied God's promise to all men - "I am the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage" (Exodus 20.2).

The specific people He bonded with are Semites - Jews.  His covenant was fulfilled from the House and and Family of David, the Root of Jesse, the Seed of Abraham. We Christians believe that, but forget that and we tolerate and often parse the Jew hatred of Muslims, atheists and others.  Jews are targets 2018 years after Jesus rolled back that stone.

Last Friday, Mireille Knoll, an 85-year-old Holocaust survivor, was stabbed 11 times and set alight by a neighbor and a homeless man. This time, authorities immediately, perhaps even prematurely, called it an anti-Semitic attack. Gérard Collomb, France’s interior minister, said this week that before killing Knoll, one of the two men arrested for the murder had told the other, “She is a Jew, she must have money.”

2018 years after Jesus triumphed over death, sin and despair,  a huge hunk of the earth's population want Jews dead.    In Paris and Berlin the issue of how to get a grip on the thuggish, intellectually and politically sophisticated, right wing and left-wing interpretations of Jew Hate fill pages of the world's newspapers.  The German police call 90% of the attacks on Jews 'right-wing' crimes, even though evidence points to Arab and Turkish immigrants doing the attacks.

Our spineless, American media makes mild mention of the repulsively racist rhetoric of Louis Farrakhan without drawing a gurgle of outrage from Pussy Hat wearing, marching members of the pan-Resistance, or the gun-hugging Roseanne viewing Deplorables.  The media will not hound Farrakhan, because he gave Obama his first boost and a ground campaign from Fruit of Islam in 2000 against Bobby Rush.  Obama didn't forget and posed happily America's number One Jew Hater in 2005, when Dan Hynes handed the US Senate seat to him.

Obama also was knotted around the political rhetorical genius of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, “Them Jews ain’t going to let him talk to me. I told my baby daughter that he’ll talk to me in five years when he’s a lame duck or in eight years when he’s out of office. They will not let him talk to somebody who calls a spade what it is. I said that from the beginning. He’s a politician; I’m a pastor. He’s got to do what politicians do.”

I have heard these nuggets from Americans (white, black, Hispanic, educated) people

These same people wept at Schindler's List and cite The Diary of Anne Frank as their favorite book from high school.

My people, the Irish, especially the younger Irish, now seem to exceed the British in their Anti-Zionist Jew-baiting.  The Norman Conquest is over - the Irish are now fully British, thanks to OxFam Marxists and the BBC's ugly step-child RTE.

Just before all of the St. Paddy's Wearing of the green the Irish Seanad (Senate)  passed the most vicious anti-Semitic legislation in Ireland's history.

The Irish and Jewish people share a common history of both suffering cruel persecution, and achieving national redemption against immeasurable odds. But today, modern Ireland is one of Europe’s fiercest critics of Israel. This tension was on display last week as the Irish Senate was considering legislation aimed at criminalizing trade with Israeli settlements.
The legislation, titled “Control of Economic Activity (Occupied Territories) Bill 2018,” would “prohibit the import and sale of goods, services and natural resources originating in illegal settlements in occupied territories,” according to Senator Frances Black, the bill’s sponsor.
While the vote on the legislation was eventually postponed, many in Israel saw it as another example of the growing effort in Europe to single out and boycott the Jewish state.

President Trump told Irish that if they boycott Israel, America boycotts them and he is the deplorable one.  Hell, I didn't like Trump, until he became President.

The Jeanne Ives Primary Campaign - A Math Problem and The Reckoning

Jeanne Ives and Illinois have Math Problems.  Last night's Primary Election numbers fell short of removing Bruce Rauner from the general election in November.  That was the goal. I am proud to have had a very small part in helping Jeanne Ives.

I predicted a Chris Kennedy v. Jeanne Ives November dust-up.  I was never good with numbers, or money.  Rauner and JB are very good with both.

Wishful thinking and belief in my neighbor's intrinsic good nature can not change outcomes.

Jeanne Ives fit a great fight.  She still has plenty of fight left over.


I believe that people can learn from their mistakes.  I do not know if Illinois is capable.

Illinois is facing many days of reckoning

• Pensions will collapse
• Property and Income Taxes will Increase
• People and businesses will exit this State
• Jobs will continue to vanish
• Abortions will increase
• Drug Abuse will spike - recreational marijuana is on the way 

Jeanne Ives did not get enough votes to help change the politcial culture in Illinois.  People are chanting Jeanne, Jeanne 2022.  

Bruce Rauner is unelectable in November.  Rauner is toxic to both Democrat and Republican voters.  He and Pat Brady managed the right numbers in the key population counties of Central Illinois.  South of Will County, Rauner maintained the GOP votes in Kankakee and Irogouis Counties which really shocked me, haing lived many years downstate.  Bruce and Brady could buy clutches of votes, but not buy love.

JB Pritzker can and did. He will be Governor of Illinois. 

Jeanne Ives, in few short months, ignored by the media from November through February used shoe leather to bring common sense message to Illinois. She was fearless, gracious and thoughtful.

Jeanne Ives will support the man who ignored, villfied and scorned her efforts for common people.  This petty man will serve out his days , be badly beaten November and move to Italy. 

What will be left of Illinois in 2022.

Mike Madigan will still be Speaker of the House and Chairman of the Illinois Democratic Party. JB Pritzker will continue making a few people rich and many more thousands of families poor.

Primary Day - My Early Morning Voter Turnout Report

My neighborhood, Chicago's 19th Ward. turns out the leading numbers for voter participation every election -  "The ward, which includes Beverly, Mt. Greenwood and portions of Morgan Park, has historically led the city in voter turnout."

I took a Republican ballot in early voting, in order to cross-over for the next governor of Illinois Jeanne Ives.  I identify as a Democrat, an old school, pro- trades labor, anti-abortion, anti-Communist voter.   The current gaggle of gubernatorial geese running and honking for this office are uniformly pro-abortion and far-Left of center on all issues.

Bruce Rauner is a place-holder who was elected only because Pat Quinn was perfect model of the Progressive Leftists Planned Parenthood Democratic Governor.   Pat Quinn is what being a Democrat in Illinois is all about.

Bruce Rauner ran as a GOP, Mark Kirk sop to voting sheep - people who mouth editorial memes and think that public radio and television is on-the-level. 

Jimmy the Two-Headed Boy could have beaten Governor Pat Quinn, but we elected Bruce the Two-Faced Governor.

The idea was for Bruce to warm the seat for JB Pritzker.  My entire family is for JB.  The family trade is for JB.  I am not in the trade.

Rauner is hoping for low turn-outs everywhere but Chicago.  If that happens he may hold on, until November.

We shall see.

I was for Jeanne Ives years ago and voted for Jeanne Ives on March 5th in early voting*.

I went to church this morning, as I try to do every morning, at St. John Fisher Catholic Church.  St. John Fisher Parish facilities serve as a 19th Ward precinct polling place.   There were a few workers passing out palm cards and two voters at 6:25 AM.

I ducked into church.

When I came out, I asked the workers about the crowd. " Two more voted since you went into church."

I would say that is light.

I drove to my polling place at the Quaker Church on 108th & Artsesian.  There was a forest of knee-high candidate signs, a dozen palm-card passers and no one going into the Friends Meeting House.

Dan Lipinksi and Pat Stanton for Judge win the signage balloting.  My other Primary prognostications -

• I think Jeanne Ives will beat Rauner, because downstate will turn-out

• I think Chris Kennedy will beat JB Pritzker, because black voters will stay home

• I think Dan Lipinski will trounce Ann Marie Newman, because this is the 3rd District, not Hyde Park

• I think the judges will get their robes.  I mean, Hell, This is Cook County!

Arch-Hypocrite Mike Quigley Gave Away the Keys to Illinois Election Booths in 2006

This political pygmy, Mike Quigley, handed the keys to Cook County and Illinois Election Booths to Venezuela's Hugo Chaves on August 27, 2006.  I have written about this crime on Cook County voters since 2006.

If there is foreign collusion, Mike Quigley should have his pasty jowels under the hot--lights.  Mike Quigley, David Orr and Forrest Claypool stooged for Sequoia Systems' CEO  Jack Blaine.

The CEO and President of one of America's largest voting machine companies, Sequoia Voting Systems, gave both deceptive, and carefully selective answers in his reply to a letter sent earlier this year from two high-ranking officials in Chicago, according to documents recently obtained during an ongoing investigation by the Brad Blog.

Sequoia's chief executive, Jack Blaine, repeated knowingly false answers, at least three different times, in his January 18 response to Chicago Alderman Edward M. Burke and the Chair of Chicago's Board of Election Commissioners Langdon D. Neal. The pair had written to the company on January 11, expressing concerns about the truth behind Sequoia's claims that they had completely divested from their purportedly "former" parent company, Smartmatic, the Venezuelan-run firm with direct ties to Hugo Chavez and his government. No Chicago news outlet has bothered lighting the burners under this story - ever.  Both Chicago newspapers, two of its AM radio stations ( WGN & WBBM), WBEZ, WTTW, all of the three major television stations have dodged this Cook County collusion  story like it were a fentynal laced load of loud.https://herb.co/marijuana/news/loud-weed, because it will taint Obama's image, as well as make people want to look three times under every Cook County Democrat's wallet.

David Orr is seeking to retire, career grifter Forrest Claypool's paws were stuck in the CPS Cookie Jar and has gone to ground, but the dumbest cluck of the trio, Mike Quigley, sits on U.S. House Committees and shoots his mouth off on MSNBC.


The other day, Wee Mike blamed House Speaker Paul Ryan of enabling President Trump from being tied to the election fraud that He, Claypool and David Orr made possible in 2006.

Illinois election booths were hacked because Mike Quigley, Forrest Claypool and David Orr made it easier for foreign governments to do so - Russian, or Luxembourgers.

The Three Amigos of Election Fraud counted on a compliant and supine media.  They also count on indifferent Independents, disspasionate Democrats and reasonable Republicans to ignore their crimes.
