John McCain: Catholics Support John McCain

Yesterday, I remarked that the issue of school choice should be a bell weather for American Catholic support of John McCain's Presidential Candidacy. McCain reflects the attitudes of most Americans and Catholics in particular. Catholics constitute one of the largest voting blocks in the Democratic Party, but many of us feel ignored by the Democratic National Committee and its sharply Left Wing rubrics for candidates: Catholics are Pro Life, want School Choice, an end to Tax strategies that shrink the Middle Class and Catholics support an Honorable end to the War on Global Islamist Terror: in Iraq and around the globe.

Catholics are supporting John McCain. This Catholic Democrat has supported John McCain from the get-go.

ARLINGTON, VA -- Today over 100 prominent Catholics nationwide have come together to support John McCain for president. The National Catholics for McCain Committee, led by U.S. Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS) and Former Governor Frank Keating (R-OK), is growing rapidly. The group is represented by elected officials, businessmen and women, grassroots organizers, students, and Catholic leaders from over two dozen states.

"John McCain has a common sense vision for America based on faith, freedom, and families," said Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS), National Co-Chair of the National Catholics for McCain Committee. "Committed to the protection of innocent human life, he is a leader Catholics will be proud to support. John McCain knows from experience what it means when a society tramples on the truth of the value of the human person. He is committed to defending the dignity and value of every person, regardless of their status."

John McCain expressed his deep appreciation and stated, "I want to thank Catholic voters today, who have played a vital role in electing me as the Republican nominee for the presidency. I am humbled by the support of such a diverse group of Catholic leaders who are dedicated to the defense of traditional marriage, advocate for the protection of innocent human life, and share my vision for a stronger, safer and more prosperous America . I stand firmly with those Catholics who believe that human rights are natural rights for all people, in all places, and in all stages of life."

The National Catholics for McCain Committee is actively recruiting Catholics at the national, regional, state, local, and parish levels to help share John McCain's vision and pro-Catholic message.

  1. You are absolutely correct mistah Pat about the catholic democrat, but also the independent and the conservatives as well. I am not speaking of the far right conservative there is another block of voters who are like independents but have more conservative beliefs but not far enough to the right to be considered the traditional conservative republican voter. I know this how you ask? That used to be me as well as the independant during my rebel without a cause stage which my mother snatched into line rather quickly I might add. There is no candidate who's roots are deeper attached in faith, faimly, our troops, the nations welfare, security and the freedoms to believe and pursue in the name of liberty and democracy. This just one aspect of why I feel that this man of great character as well as judgement and defining nature of humility should be our Commander-in-Chief Mistah Pat. What did the late great rodney Dangerfield say "don't get me started."

  2. From a social issues standpoint McCain does strike me as a candidate that Catholics can get behind, which doesn't bode well for the candidate that I support.

However, I have to take issue with one statement made in your post:

"an end to Tax strategies that shrink the Middle Class"

Do you believe that the Bush Tax Cuts, which McCain has enthusiastically supported, have not contributed to the shrinking Middle Class?

  3. Bart,

The strategies I refer to to are those promoted by the two monster vote blocks that call themselves Labor Unions - pne of the two largest associations, SEIU, bullies legislatures into tax increased to pay the salaries of tax-salaried low or no skill employees.

This radical Marxist redistribution of wealth strategy is the single greatest threat to the American standard of living fought and bled for by real Labbor unions.

Through intimidation of spinless politicians and complicit news media Andy Stern and Anna Burger of SEIU have succeeded in destroying the middle class beyond the dreams of any 60's radical.

The DNC is enthralled to their will.

  4. Putting aside this New Red Menace for a moment, which I admittedly need to learn more about, I still would like to know how you feel about the Bush Tax Cut which John McCain supports?

  5. Truth to tell Bart, I have not given the Tax Cuts a great deal of thought.

John McCain connects with Catholic voters on all the values issues... humane immigration policies, school vouchers, supports the traditional marriage, 100% pro-life, against torture, etc.
