How Charities Fund Riots - From Ferguson to Mount Greenwood and the Looting of Chuck Feeney's Dream

Image result for chuck feeney

The Chicago Annenberg Challenge, chaired from 1995 to 1999 by Barack Obama, is being portrayed by some critics of the Democratic presidential nominee as an attempt to push radicalism on schools. -Education Week
It did, How'd that all work out?

Speaking with a very well-educated, nuanced and well-heeled acquaintance of mine the other day about the Trump rioters, he called them 'spirited citizens and social justice warriors,' I 'mercenary delinquents.'

The gentleman, who has a knack for punctuating the odd phrase and verbal with pityingly raised eyebrows and moue'd mouth of moral disapproval, learned from arch-ninny Bill Moyers, it seems, asked me, "Just how, exactly are they paid and by whom?  The Kremlin is closed, you know."

Image result for moue That's a moue

Well, the Kremlin is wide open, but is for another tune-up of a Public Television junkie.

I informed the liberally turned out Brooks Brothers Bolshevik who lives on Longwood Drive and worked at the Mercantile Exchange for thirty years, and has since honed his social justice warrior edge with Catholic Call to Action, that since the 1990's philanthropic foundations, public private and civic had been boarded and commandeer-ed by trained Leftists.

The mouth moued, " Oh, please, enough of your 1950's old white man hysteria about Commie bogeymen."

You can not wise a chump.  I parted ways with a characteristically 'close-knot ethnic'  style sobriquet concerning his penchant for onanism that rhymes with Flag off.

I am indelicate at times.  One's hobby, is one's hobby.  As Aristotle wrote in the Nichomachean Ethics,  We are what we repeatedly do. " By the away, Lefty's often attribute that quote to Will Durant who was the spiritual grandpa of all of our Howard Zinn robots today.

Anyway, unlike the Longwood Drive Liberal of my acquaintance, I thought I'd toss out some facts honeyed by my sweet-natured belief in man's intrinsic good doing battle with sneaks, dummies and grifters,

The Trump Protestors, like the Ferguson rioters and the REVCOMS who goaded Black Lives Matter into staging a series of loud, obnoxious and untruthful provocations in Chicago's Mount Greenwood neighborhood, from the Saturday before election day to the threatened November 20th outrage to come, are funded by paid provocateurs through 501(c)3 charities.

These charities are led and directed in many cases by schooled leftists trained in investment laws and networking strategically.

These facts became very clear to me through my long career as a grant writer and development officer for three Catholic high schools.

Chicago Based MacArthur Foundation, Woods Fund, Annenberg Challenge, Lloyd Fry and so many of the larger family started foundations in this city are driven to radical leftist environmental, LGBTQ,  political activism, community organizing and immigration issues by boards packed with leftist ideologues. This has been going on for a very long time.

The first letter turning down a request for support of financial assistance to African American young men attending Leo High School came from the Woods Fund and was signed by its Executive Director Barack H. Obama in 1996.  !997, 1998, 1999 and 2000 grant requests and more than a few conversations with young man in the cat-bird seat helped seal my low personal regard for Barack Obama: Illinois State Senator, U.S. Senator and President of the United States.  His boss, William Ayers, was running Woods and The Annenberg Challenge as well as training a generation of future CPS teachers.

How'd that all work out for everyone?  I 'd say not so good.

The Ford, Rockefeller, Pew Charitable Trust and most of the providers of grants for Public Television and Radio direct money to holding trust like The Tides Fund.

Very few Americans realize there exists a large network of far left philanthropists and foundations in America dedicated to destroying the American way of life, our Christian-based culture and our free enterprise system.  They seek to remove America from its constitutional foundations and move it toward a European-style socialism.  Much of this effort is coordinated by a little known group called the Tides Foundation and its related group, the Tides Center. Over the course of its 33 year history, the Tides network has given hundreds of millions of dollars to anti-free enterprise groups, gun control groups, anti-private property groups, abortion rights groups, homosexual groups, groups engaged in voter fraud, anti-military groups, and organizations that seek to destroy America’s constitutional basis. All told, over 100 leftist organizations have received funding from one of the two Tides groups.

Leo used to get small grants from Quaker Oats, Peoples Gas, Lakeshore Bank, the Snite Foundation and others. These grants were shifted to more "systemic initiatives."  Meaning CPS, ACORN, LISCs of all sort. Soon these words appeared Unsolicited grants not accepted.

Big Charity was now off limits to good causes.

Smaller family foundations dedicated to religious education and Catholic causes became the only resources available and that took many more hours of prospect research.

Money for 'charties' is denied to Catholic schools.  Corporate Charities are sucked into Community Trusts and other mega banks.  When Paul Vallas was CEO of CPS, I used to call him the Prince of Darkness, because he managed to establish private foundations for public schools and every private business that wanted a smile from Daley sent their civic boodle to the foundation on West Adams.

There were still great people out there the Cashel Foundation  and Bidwill Foundation run by a wonderful women and one run by a Leo guy who did well and then did a lot of good.

A guy works all of his life and makes a ton of dough and wants to do some good with it. He sets up a 501(c) 3 and starts helping people through causes that actually operate according to their mission.

One of Chicago's largest auto dealers had his wallet lifted by me to the tune of millions of dollars over the last twenty-one years.  He was a standout football quarterback who gave up the chance of college stardom to be a Marine in 1945,  He went to China and watched the Reds swallow up that nation, came home, got a degree, married his best girl and sold cars.

By 1979 he was Chrysler's largest dealer. By 2000 he was retired, he took care of his best girl until her death, grieved and then went to Uganda, built a Catholic school, a church and decided to learn Spanish and help immigrants in Aurora.  He also operated a Foundation in memory of his marriage and keeps a very vigorous eye on where the money goes.

He is a piker, by comparison to Chuck Feeney.

Chuck Feeney was very much like the gent I talked about above,  He was a simple guy who served his country and came up with the idea of Duty Free Shops.  His pile towered over the Chrysler Dealer from Aurora's.   Chuck Feeney wanted to not only do good with his money but manage to give it all away. before he went home to Christ.  The leftist lamprey eels swarmed to his back. Image result for gara lamarche

Chuck Feeney's charity became Atlantic Philathropies (AP). Grants requests fro Leo High School and  Chuck Feeney read them.  I got several warm and personal turn downs and encouraged to keep sending. Feeney gave to causes in Ireland and his native New Jersey.

Feeney has liberal political leanings, but his philanthropy was another matter – more rooted in a philosophical, rather than political, view of the world. AP’s record of grants can be best understood as an expression of Chuck Feeney’s personal background. Feeney’s family of origin was not a wealthy one, but it was rich in terms of values—including charity towards others. One gets the impression from O’Clery’s book that Feeney’s philanthropy gave him a chance to express some of his most dearly held personal values, as handed down by his parents and neighborhood. Said his daughter Leslie:
“He has incredible empathy with people, which has its roots in his Irish Catholic background. He is a real child of his time. One needs to understand those Irish American neighborhoods during and after [World War II], how they worked, how they helped each other. That’s a big part of his life. He saw his mother and father take people off the street, helping people.”
For Feeney, the chance to do something extraordinary for others in need was no light matter—not out of a desire to be ostentatious or court publicity, nor out of a sense of “guilt” that he had become a rich man, but more likely, perhaps, for him to demonstrate that his basic beliefs remained undiluted by his great wealth.

Soon things changed.

Unsolicited grants not accepted is usually a red flag that the red flag is spiked on the charity's hill.

In 2007 AP had taken on as its president and CEO Gara LaMarche, a veteran of both George Soros’ Open Society Institute and the ACLU, and that AP demonstrated a growing appetite to fund far-left organizations such as the Huffington Post and Health Care for America Now. (HCAN is an umbrella group of left-wing organizations spanning unions, MoveOn, and the disgraced ACORN network. It received more than $26 million—over half its budget—from AP and is widely credited with being the most effective outside supporter of Obamacare. See “Socialized Medicine Back with a Vengeance,” Organization Trends, March 2009). For AP, a foundation that owed its existence to Feeney, who has made personal donations to the Democratic Party and opposed George W. Bush’s 2004 re-election, LaMarche’s presence at AP’s helm seemed only logical.
But that wasn’t the end of the story. Later in 2011, LaMarche resigned and Frederick “Fritz” A. O. Schwarz Jr., the chair of AP’s board of directors, left the board; more director departures followed in 2012. The net result was a decisive switch in direction for AP. Not a political switch, by any means—indeed, AP continues to generously fund various far-left causes after LaMarche’s departure—but a definite and significant philosophical switch, signaling that the intent of the foundation’s living founder must be given due respect. This issue of Foundation Watch will examine the circumstances behind this change in direction, and assess some of its potential ripple effects.

Well guess what, friends and neighbors.  The creep who looted Chuck Feeney, Gara LaMarche , is doling out the dough to rioters all over America.
The Democracy Alliance has funneled upwards of $500 million toward liberal activist groups and candidates since Soros co-founded the group in 2005.
DA requires all members — which in 2016 includes more than 100 “finance titans” — to donate at least $200,000 a year to approved activist groups. . . .
Therefore, at this year’s meeting, Soros and other liberal leaders — including Nancy Pelosi, Elizabeth Warren and Keith Ellison — will discuss opposing Trump’s plan for his first 100 days in office, a plan the DA called “a terrifying assault on President Obama’s achievements, and our progressive vision for an equitable and just nation.”
Democracy Alliance is run by Gara LaMarche!  Here is what he pulled at AP:

In June 2010, Feeney expressed his misgivings about the current approach to grants again. Feeney “challenged the funding of the health care campaign and inquired pointedly how the new pattern of payouts on social justice and advocacy impacted on the foundation’s capital,” O’Clery informs us. One concern that seems to have been building on Feeney’s part was that multi-year grants to many causes appeared to be a surefire recipe to multiplying the foundation’s costs, tying up too much capital in administration versus actually accomplishing its goals.
This time, it was Schwarz and Sovern who rebutted Feeney – Schwarz said the health care grants had been validated by the Obama administration’s official thanks for the way AP’s dollars had helped sustain the campaign to pass ensure health care legislation. While O’Clerly is not specific about how Schwarz knew this, perhaps Schwarz was thinking of how the Obama Administration had made sure that Gara LaMarche was on hand in the East Room of the White House on March 23, 2010, to watch as President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
The White House’s praise aside, Feeney’s concerns remained. Soon after the meeting, Feeney turned to board member Harvey Dale (a longtime intimate) during a private chat and asked if he would approach Schwarz, McCormack, and Sovern to request they resign as board members. Dale advised Feeney against this, but went ahead after Feeney insisted.
When Dale informed Feeney that each had refused—McCormack retorted, “you will have to carry me out on a stretcher”—Feeney grew exasperated, but then decided to alter his tactics. In September 2010, Feeney’s circulated a 2,000 word “manifesto,” as O’Clery calls it, that amounted to a defense of his belief that AP should prioritize his beloved niche of large “bricks and mortar” projects such as hospitals and university campus buildings.
Wrote Feeney: “Personally, I draw a lot of satisfaction from this type of grant-making: it is uplifting to see an intelligently-designed project executed well and to know that it will be available as an asset for many future years.” Why? In large part because such projects represented, from Feeney’s view, the “highest and best use” of the foundation’s endowment, particularly when it came to helping foster productive medical research.
The strategy pursued under LaMarche, of making smaller grants more oriented towards advocacy alone, was not in Feeney’s view “a viable strategy to attain the highest and best use for our resources.” And Feeney added that “this style of grant-making is not one that I would have supported to any significant extent” when setting up AP.

Chuck Feeney fought back at the Board packed with leftists by LaMarche, "  Feeney’s own money was being used to thwart his wishes—at a cost of $1,300 an hour in legal fees. (At this point in the story, one isn’t sure what the board could have done to more deliberately alienate Feeney.)"

Well Feeney 'threatened' to take his story to Oprah - how an endowment piled with Fenney's hard earned dollars was being looted by Alinskyite Soros agents to the tune of $300,000 in legal fees, not to mention violating intent of the donor.

After the (Oprah) letter came roughly another two months of meetings, memoranda, and efforts by the board to force Feeney to meet it halfway, to give ground on some of his criticisms. In March 2011, momentum shifted more in Feeney’s direction. An AP staff memo revealed a pattern of organizational overspending that neither LaMarche nor the board had been particularly attentive to: “staff had been let go with hefty packages and replaced; large amounts had been spent on consultants and travel; some of the grant-making was being outsourced; limousines were ferrying people to lunch; and lots of people were flying business class across America and around the world.”
The revelations of self-indulgence contrasted starkly with Feeney’s own famous self-denial (he avoided luxury and always flew coach) and bolstered his concerns about the need for wholesale change at AP. Feeney continued to make his case and, come the summer, he had reasserted himself completely. In June, LaMarche resigned, issuing a long public letter that paid tribute to Feeney’s philanthropic vision. LaMarche would be replaced by Christopher Oechsli, a long-time AP staffer and Feeney confidant. By September, board chair Fritz Schwarz opted not to seek re-election to the board.

Gara LaMarche, like every Progressive, bounces comfortably.  He is directing funds to incite riots. Moveon.org, Black Lives Matter will flourish until an ACORN awakening takes place in the media that eats the brie with people like Gara LaMarche.

Me, I'll take a Chuck Feeney or an octogenarian English as a Second Language aide, who gave millions to Leo High School any day.

Can't wait for my next encounter with a Moue adept.

COPA Opens a New Shakman Industry: Chicago Values the Chatham House Rules

I don’t understand how every good cop would not want a very harsh, strong police board,” Pfleger August 2016

The Fraternal Order of Police and its City Council allies opposed Emanuel’s plan to replace IPRA with COPA because they were afraid the new agency would be stacked against rank-and-file officers. But the extensive training in police organization, general orders and techniques could help ease those fears.Fran Spielman and Frank Main
I don't know a Cop who is afraid of anything - including the creeps that will crawl up his/her rump 'after weeks of COPA training on “vision and culture” of the new agency for all 140 of COPA’s full-time employees.

But, I interrupt Fran and Frank -
Advocates have complained that the $8.4 million IPRA budget virtually guarantees that investigations of police wrongdoing will drag on for months or even years.
COPA’s budget will now be “closer to $17 million,” Fairley has said. The influx of resources is particularly important, considering the fact that COPA will inherit an expanded annual caseload tied to its broader powers to investigate false arrests, illegal searches, denials of counsel and other constitutional complaints. Sun Times
More money for Advocates!  One could build an empire being an advocate in Chicago.  One do! Michael Shakman!  Shakman
Advocates?  You mean Jamie Kalvan and Pastor Pfleger?  Why unnamed 'Advocates,' Dear Read?

You know.  Progressive Transparency means that everything is coming Sub Rosa! The Old Chatham House Rules,* doncha new?

To all of us helots that means, Move on.

Last week, I noted that my hometown is the only place in the Fifty States completely unaffected by President Elect 45's landslide. As well as voting in a fake judge - Cook County - Chicago presents more!

Gee, why is everyone crying?  Nothing has changed.

Police Officers will know operate under the yoke of Jamie Kalvan, Mike Pfleger, and the columnists still giving cover to half-truths and out and out lies.

Good morning, Chicago! Chatham House Rules Everywhere!  It is another Boondoggle of a Day!

The Trump Protesters - Kids Who Have Never Read Joseph Conrad

Trump protests continue for fourth day

“Words, as is well known, are the great foes of reality. ”
― Joseph Conrad, Under Western Eyes

In the 1970's, I was teaching English at Bishop McNamara High School in Kankakee, Illinois.  A movie came out called Apocalypse Now.   At that time, I learned how many people 'pretended' familiarity with Joseph Conrad - " The great British African Explorer and adventurer and wrote Heart of Darkness.  Did you know that Apocalypse Now is all about Heart of Darkness?"

No, I had not the foggiest!  I had been reading Conrad's the THE ENWORD of The Narcissus, you know about how  Jim and Huck took a raft trip and were raped by Hillbillies.  That movie came out about the same time.

A handful of people were aware that Joseph Conrad was in fact Polish.  A couple of fingers of folks, including teachers of English were aware of the fact that Conrad was a radical.

Since November 8th, Anti-Trump rallies  funded and organized by the World Workers International, Revolutionary Communists within the Answer Coalition have allowed privileged whites to again loot and vandalize cities with approval of the globalist elites.   The pale soul patched, man-bun suburbanites have put aside Pokemon and donned red bandanas and balaklavas in order avoid discomfort and identification as they temper tantrum across the continent.

The drips on cable news coo for their feelings and fears. And the decontructionist academics offer misreadings in support of their crime and misdemeanors.

Yep, a stone radical, who had brushed aside the Revolution.  That idiotic Second Coming of the Masses!  The Masses are tools. Always were and always will be.

Apocalypse Now is not an antiwar movie.  It is an Anti-Masses movies, just as Heart of Darkness, Lord Jim, The Secret Sharer, The Secret Agent and Under a Western Sky are warnings to the individual heart that it belongs to God and not man's longing for a material paradise, or their personal feelings.

Jim Wait, a doomed West Indian sailor of color , dying of Tuberculosis  has the sympathy of the Masses - Black Lives Matter!  The Captain of the Narcissus, Alistoun and an experienced salt named Singleton, are reviled by the masses for not having human hearts. They are only concerned with the work and safety of the ship. When a storm puts the Narcissus in peril, the crew, the Masses want to chop off the sails and right the ship. The Captain and Singleton refuse.  Guess what?

The ship rights itself when the storm passes and the Narcissus still has sails to continue on its voyage.  Jim Wait dies.  The Masses wanted to slow down and give Justice to Jim Wait and they wanted the ship righted Now!  It can't wait! Move on!  The Answer!

The Masses will sink the ship.

Is that fatalism?  Is that heartlessness. Nope that is reality.  I have less than 21 miles worth of gas in the tank of my Malibu and protest I might the car won't make it to Peotone from Morgan Park.

Joseph Conrad lived in Polish occupied Russia and saw Imperialism at worst and learned that Revolution trumped that monstrosity hands down.

I hazard a wager that most of the Trump Protestors have never heard of the dead white man who wrote Under Western Skies and Heart of Darkness - you know Apocalypse Now.

Had the little dopes been stuck in one of my classes they might know that Revolution is always the ugliest example of human behavior.Image result for Trump Protests in Chicago

Then they might know this, The ignorant serve cruel masters.  Or as Conrad wrote in Under Western Skies:

In a real revolution–not a simple dynastic change or a mere reform of institutions–in a real revolution the best characters do not come to the front. A violent revolution falls into the hands of narrow-minded fanatics and of tyrannical hypocrites at first. Afterwards comes the turn of all the pretentious intellectual failures of the time. Such are the chiefs and the leaders. You will notice I have left out the mere rogues. The scrupulous and the just, the noble, humane and devoted natures, the unselfish and the intelligent may begin a movement–but it passes away from them. They are not the leaders of a revolution. They are its victims–the victims of disgust, disenchantment–often of remorse. Hopes grotesquely betrayed, ideals caricatured – that is the definition of revolutionary success. There have been in every revolution hearts broken by such successes. But enough of that. My meaning is that I don’t want you to be a victim.   Conrad

St, Christina's Father Tom Conde and Prayer With Neighbors was Just The Thing for Mount Greenwood

Image result for mount greenwood prayer vigil

"I think Mount Greenwood is a terrific community, both during my time growing up there and as a pastor," O'Donovan said Monday. DNAinfo
"There is a lot of kindness that happens," he said. "The South Side is not how it is being portrayed." Father Tom Conde in DNAinfo

Father Tom Conde of St. Christina's Parish in Mount Greenwood stands in teh footprints of two great priests from that parish: Father John Ireland Gallery and Father Marty O'Donovan.

I know only of Father Gallery, brother of Adm. Dan Gallery - the man who captured the Nazi submarine that sits in Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry.  Old timers told me that he was a shoe-leather priest who walked the parish, knocked on doors and found out what people needed, were thinking and were in need of help.  Father Gallery had, like his three brothers been a Naval Officer and chaplain and as a priest ministered to person and flocks on Sunday.

I have the pleasure of knowing Father Marty O'Donovan.  Father Marty is a priest among priests and a bluff, sweet natured, witty and generous man who had long shepherded the individuals of Mount Greenwood with compassion and Gospel courage.  I know more than a few people whose marriages were turned away from disasters of selfishness cattiness and cruelty back to love and commitment and the love that brought two people together years before by Marty O'Donovan's simple, sweet and saving grace.

Last night, Father Tom Conde addressed the pain a neighborhood suffers when marginalized and sparked to anger for reasons beyond our simple comprehensions.

How did a neighborhood become the bad guy?  Easily is the only answer.

All we can do is remember Father Conde's words - We are the Light of Christ and we step on Holy Ground wherever we walk.  We lit our candles with the flames of the Pascal Candle to remind us to carry that flame around with us.  Candle light brings people together. Camera lights, not so much these days.  It is very good to be reminded of that.

Mount Greenwood might not have packed St. Christina's Church last night but the lights reignited glowed.

Thank you.

Chicago Values Taught at CPS by Dave Steiber: Pointing a Finger Trumps Pointing a Gun

“Racism is learned,” O’Shea said. “Kids aren’t born with it. They learn it.” Chicago Sun Times

If you live in Chicago, and are young and black, you probably deal with the police — or are tense because of the police — daily. I only have to deal with this tension when I choose to listen to black youth.
In my mind, I was trying to operate in a world where police and black youth could exist in the same space. Thanks to Page, I am beginning to see differently. I now realize that if we teachers cared as much about why so many of our black students have a hatred towards the police to begin with, as we do to Page saying, “F*ck the police” at a rally, we would be much closer to stopping police brutality.  Dave Steiber*, CPS Teacher/Activist in Huffington Post  and Twitter SJW

Alderman Matt O'Shea ( D 19th Ward)  met the 'demands' of six high school girls from Walter Payton Prep.

   DNAinfo/Joe Ward
DOWNTOWN —  With racial tension spiking in Mount Greenwood and at Marist High School, the neighborhood will hold prayer vigils, town hall meetings and workshops in hopes of improving race relations in the area, city and police officials said Friday.
Ald. Matt O'Shea (19th), Police Supt. Eddie Johnson and Marist Principal Larry Tucker met with members of Black Lives Matter Youth at CPS headquarters Friday to discuss ways to improve the tension that spiked with the police killing of a black man in the area and racist texts from Marist students that followed the shooting.
"I was caught by surprise and I'm saddened by it," O'Shea said about racial tension enveloping Mount Greenwood. "Today, I hope we can turn the corner."
City officials had offered the meeting DNAinfo
Matt O'Shea is a hard working alderman and a very nice guy.

Everyone in the 19th Ward which includes Beverly, Morgan Park and Mount Greenwood, as well as Black, Mexican, Lithuanian, Italian, Polish, German, Swedish, Latino, Moroccan, Chinese, Japanese, Croatian, Bosnian Serb, Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran, Jewish, Muslim, Unitarian and Atheist people is "caught by surprise and . . . saddened by"  the fact that  the gun pointing and brawling by foolish young man forced off-duty police officers to fire on him and kill him has taken on Chicago Values.

Chicago Values are very confusing.

If any person thinks and believes that his/her religious, philosophical, or moral code requires that he/she refuse actions mandated by the political class, that person should not operate a business, or speak his mind.

Chicago Values are strict, disciplined, but they can also touch the heart, of people they agree with, or who help the agenda.

Chicago Values can also forgive turning a rally in support of the a teachers union over to this person - Page May

I** was taught values by parents and had them reinforced in Catholic schools.  That was acceptable at one time.

Now, young people are taught Chicago Values by people like Dave Steiber and Page May.  Dave Steiber has one goal and that is to end racism forever.  Page May?  I am not seeing it because, I'mma Boss that bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch/Imma Boss that bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch' and 'F@#$ a Police!' is all that is coming through.  This come from a tactic employed by Black Lives Matter and learned from REVCOM and International Socialist when employed nationally in the failed ouster of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker - drum circles and hip-hop meter fights the power, “(Expletive) Whomever, (expletive) the system, ’bout to burn it down./“Kill ’em off with kindness, tuck your burner, you can put it down.”

Dave Steibel writes for Huffington Post and teaches in Chicago Public Schools, he has never set foot in Mount Greenwood but he has told the nation everything it needs to know about Mount Greenwood. His HufPo piece this week has been expanded to excoriate people who do not question the legality of the Joshua Beal shooting, or his motives, into a jeremiad on the impossibility of any future democracy.
One person asked me, “Have you been to Mount Greenwood?” I honestly must say I have not. I don’t need to go there to get to know the community. I was raised in a predominately white community. I know as a white person that I have the privilege to feel safe and respected in a community like that. My whiteness allows me to be accepted wherever I go.
The blatant racism of Mount Greenwood is the issue. Mount Greenwood has many examples of historical racism. Add in the recent racist actions and the threats of violence on protesters who want to practice their Democratic right to protest, further proves that what I wrote last week is accurate. . . .    Whether you agree or not with the message of the protestors they have the right to protest without having their lives threatened and/or made to feel like we are all living in the 1950’s.
Unless you happen to be a Blue Lives Matter protestor;  see, how surprising and sad Chicago Values can be? Unless you happen to be a Black family living in Mount Greenwood for many years and enjoy your white neighbors as well as the safety enjoyed by all.

A young white girl texted ' I @#$%ing hate n#$$%^&' on Twitter and it was intercepted by a Twitter friend who contacted the media and Black Lives Matter and then DNAinfo scooped the story that Mount Greenwood girl texted a racist message as evidence of wholesale 1960's Jim Crow. Bishop Cupich tossed his two cents in and the girl and her immediate circle of texting friends were expelled from Marist High School - that is a sin Chicago Values refuses to counsel.  Dave Steiber went hot under the collar as much as Pastor Pfleger in his ill-fitting Roman collar.

The students who lead and organize Black Lives Matter Youth had planned a teach in downtown about what happened to Joshua Beal as well as a racial incident that happened at Marist High School in Mount Greenwood this week. After the teach in they planned to travel to Mount Greenwood to protest. The day before this protest the students parents were contacted by CPS and told, “White supremacist groups are threatening to kill students on site”.

Dave Steiber has a wonderfully smug tone in all of his pieces for Huffington Post that suits that source and many of the young Progressive elites training to be louder and more image-conscious in Chicago's magnet high schools like Walter Payton Prep.  Walter Payton Prep is the home school of the young ladies who demanded that Alderman O'Shea and Chicago Police Superintendent meet with them on a monthly basis.
Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson on Friday said he has agreed to meet with Black Lives Matter Youth activists every month to discuss relations between police and minority communities.
Johnson talked of his plans following a meeting between him, leaders of minority youth groups, Ald. Matt O’Shea (19th) and the principal of Marist High School.
After the closed-door meeting, which ran more than two hours, leaders from Black Lives Matter Youth and the Black Student Union of Walter Payton College Prep told reporters that their demands had been met.

Dave Steiber is working closely with the young ladies. Chicago Values are taught and they are highly coordinated.  You are not born with values.

Chicago Values are learned.  You now know one of their teachers - Dave Steiber.

*I ( Dave Steiber) am a father, husband, Chicago Public Schools teacher of Social Studies and Spoken Word Poetry coach. I have my Masters in Urban Education Policy Studies and I am working to become a National Board Certified teacher. I am passionately committed to promoting and improving urban public education, while simultaneously improving the lives of students, especially the students that I teach on the South Side of the city.

Chicago - Untouched by Change: Media, Politics and Bad Activists Doing Just Fine

At the Burger King after the police murder of Joshua Beal

I live in the only city and county completely unaffected by the election of Donald Trump to the Presidency.  I live in Chicago, Cook County of Illinois.

Every incumbent and sanctioned candidate held onto or won public office. Same old, same old. In fact, a clerk who pretended to be a judge was elected to be a judge.  What could possibly go wrong there?

The tide, turned in by the votes and the Electoral College, missed the shores of Lake Michigan entirely.

On election day, my Ward, the 19th, which includes a neighborhood known as Mount Greenwood and home to a great many Chicago police officers and firefighters, became a racial flash point.

On the Saturday afternoon(Nov. 5th) before the election, at about 3PM members of a family that had buried a young man at Mount Hope Cemetery in this Ward travelled west on 111th Street, a two lane shopping district with barbershops, restaurants, boxing gyms, banks, dentist offices, a Walgreen's and other local concerns.  This is a two lane street with parking available on both side.  At Troy Street is a Chicago Firehouse. People in a hurry attempt to make a new right lane and cause accidents, traffic jams and on this Saturday a fatality.

Beal and others had just left a funeral in several cars and were driving to their next destination when the incident occurred, Beal’s relatives said. According to Guglielmi*, they were stopped in traffic near a firehouse when an off-duty Chicago firefighter saw one of the vehicles and notified the driver that it was illegally blocking the fire lane and causing delays.
The firefighter then began arguing with three people who got out of their cars, said Guglielmi. While this was going on, a woman inside a nearby business saw the argument, called police and then became involved in the fight, the police spokesman said.
At this point, an off-duty Chicago police officer in a barbershop nearby also spotted the fight, approached the scene, identified himself as an officer and became involved in the brawl, Guglielmi said.
A sergeant in full uniform who was driving to work at the Morgan Park Police District then stopped when he saw the melee, the spokesman said.
“There’s a sergeant on his way to work. He now sees a man with a gun in his hand. He gets out, announces his office in full uniform,’’ Guglielmi said.
The sergeant displayed his weapon, Guglielmi said. As the incident escalated and the man with the gun did not drop his weapon, shots were fired, and the man was hit multiple times, the police spokesman said. Chicago Tribune

The man, Joshua Beal died.  He pulled a gun, waved it, pressed the trigger and was shot multiple times.

Immediately the story became a narrative - one that erased the culpability of Mr.Beal and his family altogether. One of the most egregious narratives was written by a man named Davis Steiber and printed in the dubious Huffington Post.

Joshua Beal, who was in Chicago for a funeral, was killed Saturday by a Chicago police sergeant. The reason an off-duty police officer felt the need to start waving his gun around and pointing it at a lot of different people is baffling. To see the video, click here.
I, however, don’t want to focus on the killing itself ― I want to focus on the reaction of white people. Specifically in Mount Greenwood, where the incident occurred. Last night, hours after his death, while people gathered to support Josh’s family, some residents of Mount Greenwood came out of their homes with Blue Lives Matter flags to apparently show that Black people are not welcome in Mount Greenwood. Instead of letting people grieve the loss of a life, these white residents thought it appropriate to call them names and tell them to leave “their” neighborhood. To see this video click here.
As is the case in most police related shootings, the media twist the facts, invent the facts and turn the attendant hate on people who have done nothing to warrant a raised eyebrow let alone anger.

A local media news site, DNAinfo Chicago, which had up until this shooting in Mount Greenwood been dependable with reporting and has three very fine writers in Mark Schipper, Ed Komenda and Pulitzer Prize winning Mark Konkol, took up group thought and malicious slandering of people in order to whip up a controversy.

Three writers have crafted the Mount Greenwood Narrative.

Immediately after the shooting members of REVCOM Chicago - the Revolutionary Communist Party - sent teams of activists to the neighborhood.

DNAinfo Chicago's three reporters (Evan Moore, Joe Ward and Howard Ludwig)  have yet to mention this fact and have all but erased the crimes of Saturday the 5th by Beal and family in a sad attempt to make the 'manufactured outrage' appear spontaneous, genuine and heartfelt.  Outrage is directed against the neighborhood of Mount Greenwood, Marist Hig School and a few teenage girls unaware that texting matters.  REVCOM, along with Moveon.org has been identified by law enforcement as forces behind protests and riots around the nation.  REVCOM boasts to its retainers.

When we heard about this outrage, the Revolution Club went to the scene, arriving in the early evening. We found members of Joshua’s family sitting in a Mt. Greenwood Burger King—unable to leave because police had surrounded their cars as part of the “crime scene.” A Club member explained to the family members who we were, and we began talking with them. Already grieving for the loss of one loved one who had been buried that day, this family was now dealing with the murder of another—shot down in front of their eyes by Chicago police.
The family members told us stories of being taunted by racists in Mt. Greenwood. They had been called “n****rs” and “monkeys” and were told to “go back to the ‘hood” by white people shouting from their cars as they drove by.
The Revolution Club brought a Stolen Lives banner into the BK and unfurled it. Many family members gasped, as they looked at the faces of so many others murdered by police. At this point, the Burger King manager announced that the family would have to leave the restaurant. This callous racism was called out by the grieving family members and people from the Club. “This is not Mississippi in 1960. This is 2016.” “They are afraid of too many Black people in this place.” Everyone stood firm, saying, “We paid for food and we aren’t leaving.”
The manager called in the police. The police arrived in force, further crowding the Burger King. They ordered everyone to leave, announcing that the BK was closing its doors early. People were forced outside into the dark and the cold without coats or sweaters.

DNAinf Chicago has printed photos of REVCOM as well as Black Lives Matter, activists Ja'Mal Beal, Jedidiah Brown and the egregious Pastor Michael Pfleger.  However there is no mention of the Communists who sparked riots and violence in Milwaukee only this past summer.

More troubling, DNAinfo Chicago managed to get a high school girl's Twitter tweet that was racially offensive and managed to get the girl and five other of her friends from a Catholic High School after Archbishop Blase Cupich was contacted for comments in keeping with this divisive and inflammatory narrative.

The narrative has erased the story of Joshua Beal's bad behavior, illegal use of a hand gun, threatening the lives of Chicago Police Officers and bystanders and morphed into the very reasons why Donald Trump appealed to voters.

I live in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois - the land untouched by change.  The message sent to the American elites is lost here.  The people get it.  The elites do not.

Same old, same old.

John Kass: Civics Lesson and the Salvation of Fly Over America

Image result for John Kass

John Kass is great writer.  A great writer hammers out or scribbles words that should come as close to the truth as possible and Kass delivers daily.  You might disagree, but truth is all about disagreement.

I say the Nicene Creed at Mass, because I believe the truth of it.  I do so only because 3rd Century Greek speaking and writing Roman bishops and statesmen slaughtered one another from Alexandria to Antioch over the precise wording of the core consubstantiation - three Persons; One God.

Today, Kass's column speaks to the 'concered, thoughtful and serious' voices that are howling like banshees out of range of the public's ear drums. The elites, the artists, the actors, the journalists, the anchors, the professors, the activists and the organizers who were doing so well in the emerging American oligarchy, along with bankers, arbitragers, venture capitalists and short-selling globalists.
Scream democracy, vaporize the middle class and rule is the compelling narrative of any Banana Republic.

. . .   I'm not even a big fan of early voting. I figure that if voting is actually important to you, then you'll get up on Election Day and get your butt down to the polling place and cast a ballot in person.
Still, if we got rid of the Electoral College, think of the shape of things to come. Soon after, we could have immediate national referendums on almost every important issue. And depending on America's mood, we could swing quickly, one way or another, this way and then back again.
We wouldn't need a House of Representatives or a Senate. Legislation takes too long. The president could appoint governing bureaucrats who would move with great speed. States wouldn't count for much, if anything. They'd disappear eventually, as would the idea that the people of Kentucky might see things differently than the people of New York.
The populated coasts would become supreme. And if California got passionate and wanted Great Lakes water, we'd have a quick national vote on it. Bingo. A pipeline to drain the lakes, and it's done.
We'd have real democracy for a change. And the majority would rule. And that ancient experiment called a republic, designed to be inefficient and slow, to protect the minority view?
Who'd want that anyway?

That is a rhetorical question.  John Kass and you and I know exactly who would want that - the very people who want to rule over everyone else and call it a democracy. We are a Democratic Republic and thank God, all three of him in my home, for that.  Hamilton, Jefferson, Madison, Adams and Franklin were successful, because they were "Stronger Together" - they were like the Arian and Athansian bishops and monks and thugs kicking sand in Alexandia and eventually Nicea.

The Constitution is our foundation because it protects the few from the majority and not fools the majority for the few.

The Elites and their Retainers detest the Deplorables in Fly Over America ( Pittsburgh, Akron, Cleveland, Detroit, Gary, Chicago, Milwaukee, Duluth, Davenport, Omaha & etc.) , but last Tuesday some of those Retainers decided they did not like being retained at all and a revolution took place - without one dime of George Soros's money.

Fly Over America was saved from becoming a Hunger Games landscape.

Trump did not do that.

The Constitution of the United States did that.

Bishop Cupich is the New Cardinal Cody

John Cardinal Cody was a sad man, a flawed man and a very small man.  He was a prince of the Church.

Cody took over the Archdiocese of Chicago and immediately fired pastors who built parishes and schools and served the needs of their flocks. Cody never took the time to learn anything about the City and the people he was supposed to serve.  In fact, John Cardinal Cody didn't much care for the people of Chicago. He was Cardinal for a very long time.

Cardinal Cody wanted only good press and powerful financial people to help tighten his grip on the Archdiocese through Project Renewal ( 1965-?) He got both here in Chicago.  He had the media until 1981.  People with wallets and check books loved him; people with change purses, not so much.

Bishop Cupich reminds me of Cardinal Cody - quite a bit.

One of his first remarks to the press seemed to be open slap at the dying Francis Cardinal George, "Wherever I live, I want to have a place where I can get some rest and feel the support of people who are around me,It is a lovely place, and I really want to honor that," he said. "At the same time, I would have to say I'm going to take my time to make that decision. I'm going to see where I can be most effective."

Cardinal George understood that the Cardinal's Residence was the peoples house in this Archdiocese, but the Chicago Media ( Carol Marin, Michael Sneed, Eric Zorn, Jay Levine et al) harped constantly on a priest living in such luxury.  Bishop Cupich is a Media Man.  He crafted a narrative parallel to Pope Francis I and will soon be rewarded with a red hat when he is elevated to Cardinal.

Cardinal George had poor kids from Englewood, Canaryville, Bronzeville and Gresham in as his guests on very regular basis.  He fed them cake, pop and cookies.  He listened to their struggles to avoid the GDs, the Stones and the Irish Deuces.  He prayed with them.  He called Leo High School to ask about their progress and chew them out when needed.

This weekend, Bishop Cupich saw to it that a young girl who texted a racially offensive thought to her friends in her Twitter circle be expelled - Excommunicated  - from Marist High School as a political sop to Pastor Pfleger, Black Lives Matter and Rahm Emmanuel. That made the media happy because damned a whole neighborhood as well.

"Marist High School is a privately operated school in the Archdiocese dedicated to Gospel values," Cupich said. "We support them as they take the necessary steps to deal with this situation swiftly and take appropriate disciplinary action."

His taking a shotgun to kill a gnat approach to race relations this past weekend went one better gave it to people who have done nothing but live their lives.
"Racism is a sin and has no place in the church, including the Archdiocese of Chicago," said Cupich, who recently was chosen by Pope Francis to become a cardinal. "Our schools must be places where all are respected and the values of tolerance and peacemaking are taught and nurtured."
The people of Mount Greenwood , the students at Marist High School and all of Chicago did not
  • block a firehouse exit after right lane weaving
  • brawl with a firefighter and an off-duty cop
  • draw a hand gun and threaten to fire
  • Joshua Beal did that and died as a result

Instead, the media want to replay the 1960's and make Mount Greenwood Selma and Ja'mal Green and Pastor Pfleger the Dr. King twins.  Bishop Cupich joined in the fun. Cardinal Bernardin never called out a high school kid, even when a few beat a kid with bats.  Cardinal George took hurting young men from Chicago's meanest streets and treated them to what a priest is all about and made calls to improve their lives.  The media hated Cardinal George.

Bishop Cupich will have a red hat very soon.  He is Cardinal Cody.

I was at an Ordination Party for a young priests the day Cardinal Cody died.  When his death was announced . . .the prayer was brief and party was back under way.

The Achilles Heel of Western Civilization Bites George Soros Good and Hard.

PHILADELPHIA — George Soros is back.
The billionaire investor, who scaled back his political giving after a then-unprecedented $27 million spending spree to try to defeat President George W. Bush in 2004, has quietly reemerged as a leading funder of Democratic politics — and as a leading boogeyman of conservatives. Politico
The pop-up, Soros-financed leftist groups like Occupy Wall Street, Black Lives Matter, even the Boycott, Divest and Sanction movement against Israel – all based on the left's hatred and prejudice – will vanish as Americans under President Trump go back to work and come to realize that the psychotic jealousy that fuels these groups has hurt and not helped either themselves or our country. Joan Swirsky
Okay. So let's review the Electoral Map:
  • New York City - New York state went for Clinton
  • DC - went for Clinton
  • Chicago - Illinois went for Clinton
  • Boston - Massachusetts went for Clinton
  • Seattle - Washington state went for Clinton, too
So these so-called protestors are protesting in places that already went for Clinton, rioting, burning, breaking. That's going to earn you a lot of support somewhere along the line? We're missing something here.
Be careful ladies and gents. Second City Cop

He is the only person on this planet to whom I wish to snidely and quietly give the old horse laugh.

Soros is the money roll of the Occupy Movement and its benighted members that are collateral damage in this creeps war on Western Civilization.  Here is Soros weeks before the election.

From the bullhorn Bolsheviks, preening priest and high volume BLM activists plaguing the working families of Mount Greenwood in Chicago to the bust-out capital of California Oakland, George Soros is the guy behind noise, the violence and the blood.

George, you lost a hell of a lot of money, but not nearly as much as you will.
Oakland: Some people were seen burning objects in the streets, while others tried to get onto the I-90, but were blocked by cops
Try and get some sleep.  A really long one would be nice.
