The rubber balls would start off white, but end up grey and discolored from the constant force against the wall or the bat.<br /><br />The lots were normally trash filled on the south side of Chicago but I didn't care we would find pure joy. When a home run was hit normally the pitcher would have to walk and go get it, joy for the batter.. Disdain for the pitcher. Most of the time we played with 2 to four people. What I use to hate was the adults who would see us play and want to jump in. Saying hey kid bet you cant strike me out ugh.. LOL.
